Find # 11899Well here it is, time for another MEGA, and an extra special one to. Its a leap year! So before the main event I decided Id head down to Millicent and surrounds to collect some geoart, and some of the all important (to me) SFE challenges Day 7 and another not so hot day today. Today is an out and about around Gawler and Dublin doing some of the geoart in the area. Signing as QANVT with a group from many States and Territories. Great to share the experiences with so many other fun cachers. This little experiment was interesting, and the soil samples looked quite different. On a road trip with geo friends from QLD for The Great Leap Year Forward Mega 2024.It was a fun, action-packed day, with many cachers teaming up to gather geo art and various other caches along the trails. Our logs in this area were signed as team UNICORNS to spare room on the log sheets. We went to both waypoints today, with Weirdbiker and Riddell having agreed to submit answers on behalf of the big group, who all came up with the same answers to this Earthcache ??A special thank you to all cache owners for placing such good caches and the ongoing maintenance on them. Your efforts are a credit to the geocaching community and gave us many smilie faces on our map ????

A Leap Year Mega drew us to Adelaide. Now that it is over, it's time for some good old group caching After a lunch break, it's off in the late afternoon to do the Magical Unicorn series. I did enjoy doing these puzzles. Learn something every day as a geocacher! Nice mix, too. Even an Earth Cache - and Weirdbiker and Riddells have collected the necessary info to message the CO with the answers. We are using the group name Unicorns to save space on the log sheetsAnd so happily I say that the logs were signed and caches replaced as found on this day, 1st March 2024. TFTC, equipe de cinq. I loved being out in the bush.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 47. Mid North section of SA trip Day 18. Gawler Day 6. Today was Unicorn day. I jumped in the car and started out driving west to these caches. Along the way I found a few other interesting challenges and small towns before getting stuck into the great series these magical caches were. Plenty of variety in the puzzles, all solved quite some time ago, and the containers were often quite interesting. It was very quiet out on this section of the trail today, so it made for a very pleasant day before the drive back to Gawler for Dinner.

Although I started here, I was keen to get it done today, so I made sure I went past the second spot. I had a go at doing this, even though there has been quite a bit of rain. The sand was pretty dry just below the surface, so I hope the answers I have sent are ok.

Thanks for the cache equipe de cinq

Loved that the Unicorn series has been placed in such a great named area.
However the Port Lorne Road is currently undergoing major road works in progress and may be difficult to access shortly.
We were lucky to have been able to travel down it today.
The answers to this Earthcache have been sent today so I am logging it with feathertop in anticipation of the answers being correct, thanks for the Earthcache as I need a couple more to log a challenge cache I signed a day ago.

For a long time I have looked across from far away Mexico at the land of the unicorns roaming free on the Wild Horse Plains.
I never dreamt of the chance to make acquaintance until now when I joined forces with CybergranV and concocted a road trip which would start here just South of our Port Wakefield base.
I have learnt lots about Unicorns along the way and enjoyed resolving all of the coordinates.
I read somewhere that Noah described them as scrumptious!!
My first stop was the house of Freddo in Adelaide where he presented me with a collection of brightly coloured containers. I was on a mission to tidy up the series and as required about 8 containers were either replaced or upgraded.
No farmers seen though roads were in the middle of an upgrade in one section necessitating a short walk to 2 caches.
Otherwise a great morning out here.
Many thanks for putting together

Found while caching Geoart ‘Magical Unicorns’ from Parham with Wollaston and Liz&Bruce.

Collected and ‘scientifically’ analysed our samples and submitted our group’s answers.

It was quite an adventure when we made the journey to collect sample number two. At the beginning of the lane we were met with a bold yellow road sign that said ‘Road Closed’, undeterred our team decided we could plough on to complete the second point. Driving the brand new shiny unboggable, a new side track was forged dodging the deep pool of water at the entrance to the track and riding up high on the side embankment (great view!). Once we navigated our way back onto the track the next challenge was to push our way through the scratchy spinifex and tumble weed until we reached gz.

Thanks to the many hands and minds taking time to set out and maintaining hides and showing us your special part of the world

22,417. Found with minniek during our Post-Christmas escape to South Australia.

This trip to South Australia was on again off again due to the changing circumstances in the various states we had to travel through. Finally getting a green light from all 3 states we headed off early boxing day. Day 4 of our adventures took us up this way for a few of the local GeoArt and other trails. Next find of the day. The Magical Unicorns series we solved during lockdown earlier this year. We had a great time touring around the dirt roads of the region. All of these caches were quick finds unless otherwise stated. We gathered the required info for this earthcache as we drove around, and minniek has sent off the answers to the CO.

Thanks Magical Unicorn Friends / equipe de cinq !! Fav Point for the Series !

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

Camped at Port Parham, today we ventured out and about using caching as our guide to try to find some unicorns. After chasing unicorns around Wild Horse Plains for the past two days, we decided to have another go today and finish the art work.

We ended up with another 21 finds today, 20 unicorns and a bit of skulduggery which happend to fall on our way. All caches found in good order.

Thanks for the fun Magical Unicorn Friends, we have enjoyed the series. I can't wait to send the screen shot to one of my grandies.

Found the tip of the horn with Twinke Dust. Answer to be sent to our Magical Unicorn Friends

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 10692.

Today was my Yorke Peninsula trip, rather than sitting in a hotel having a day off work I took a road trip out the peninsula. When I saw this series I knew I’d have to do at least some of it as I have a unicorn and alicorn mad child at home. Most of these blended into one though after a while.
I’ve sent a message with my answers via the message centre.

Thanks Magical Unicorn Friends for the cache.

Well after 2 months staying and working near Balaklava today we moved to Port Wakefield. After setting up camp we headed off chasing Unicorns. Would have been better if we were riding unicorns with all the u-turns we did, but all done and dusted, first cache at 1.58pm and last cache at 5.15pm. [:o)]

The multiple geo arts near Port Wakefield have been sitting on my raider for some time now, and with some free time today I headed out early with the intention of finding them all. Despite some early grey weather, it ended up being a nice day as the three series were comfortably found, along with the odd cache in-between. All caches were found in reasonable condition.

Special sprinkles that are normally reserved for ice cream, were used in the workings out of this cache. I had big plans to chant over some hot chocolate with sprinkles (for its special healing trance powers - trust me, I read about it online so it must be true), but instead I used the hot chocolate/ice cream sprinkles to find this cache. Tragic really. Thanks for placing the cache Magical Unicorn Friends.

whilst completing the Magical unicorn series we collected information for this earthcache. Making the slump property of fine materials the focus of an earthcache was most interesting. We had noticed this lovely piece of geo-art and the great use of the different cache types to create it, and so knowing that we were going to be passing nearby today, a few nights back we had sat in our hired cache-mobile/camper-van and solved all the puzzles. Today we teamed up with wazza9 and Nana Nel to undertake the series, so we left our camper-van parked up in Wild Horse Plains and then set off together in wazza9's 4x4 - which turned out to be an adventure in itself right at waypoint 2 for this Earthcache! We have yet to send our answers to the CO but until we can find a moment to do so during our current travels we are posting this Write Note only to keep our cache finds in order. In the meantime thanks so much for a nice easy Earthcache and greetings from Zimbabwe

What an interesting Earthcache, what is more interesting is that we got bogged in the sand at WP1 with a 4WD plus a caravan and got ourselves out. Then to start the Earthcache with Wazza9 and Team GBS. Wazza9 will send the answers. Thanks to equipe de cinq.

TFTC,
Our day was to discover the Unicorn and we did it in style with Team GBS.
Having spent time working in many industries, I knew what the answers would be. Still fun working with others as they learnt.
This cache was special as we got to experience what it was like to play in the sand first hand. There are a few tracks around which require special skills while towing a van and this is one of them. I failed to set up correctly for the bad section. If only.
A favourite is added and trackables visited to one of each cache type.

Well, what a weekend! The FFLL ladies and myself decided to head over to SA to tackle the newest installment of the Fishy Tales caches, the Gone Fishin' series. Having a long weekend presented to us, and a day extra, we had a big task at hand to get them all done, but we did! There were many tears of laughter, exhausted bodies each night, and plenty of caches found. We even managed to score ourselves a few Earthcaches, Virtuals and even Webcams along the way as well as me passing my 10,000 find Big Grin

Cool EC, something a bit different to the normal of just answering questions, this one had a little experiment to do. Answers have been submitted through to the CO and permission granted to log Smile

With a long weekend coming up we decided to make it an extra-long weekend and hatched a plan with Rapidlywild to attack YP in SA again. It has been 4 years since we were last here so a few new caches/trails have come out since then. On our list was the Gone Fishn' trail as well as the 60 trail, Magical Unicorn and PSA as well as collecting random ones as well along the way.

Getting the "blurry eye" out of Canberra Friday morning we arrived in SA around 7.30am and the geo-mission began.

Apologies for the generic logs. After finishing It's a Small World we headed over to tackle the Magical Unicorns....loved the containers, brightened the day with all the lovely colours. We solved the puzzles before we left Canberra, we really enjoyed this series. Email has been sent by Rapidlywild on behalf of both teams.

Finally we made it with the company of Uni & RTGW; we have an early started of our caching hunt and trying to be as quick as possible pay off. Started at 8:00am and finished all the series just in time for lunch.
We have some challenges with the road but nothing considerable serious
Thanks for the series guys we did have fun finding them all.

Andy Colombia and I have been talking about hitting this series for a while, and over the Xmas break solid plans were made. We were joined by one half of Uni & Medusa, and with an early start, we managed to be done by lunch time, averaging one cache every three minutes. Just shy of four hours of caching time for the whole series. We enjoyed the entire series and appreciated the effort and variation that went into each hide. Also, no DNF's!

This was find number 73 of 79 for the day for me. TFTC equipe de cinq!

This is the last completed by me, Andy Colombia and RideTheGeoWalrus. After an early start, meeting at Andy's at 6:30, our first find at about 8am, and our last a little after midday, we averaged one find every three minutes.

Heading out to do the unicorn series with locus cache, Barnic, Travellinbees and Sushilord. An awesome day was had by all, lots of laughs, lunch and geo goodness. Log signed as BLTS to save space. Kaye even pulled her trademark "get bogged" heading to the last few to complete the series. TFTCaches and the effort gone in to creating the geoart for our enjoyment!

The day didn't go as planned - it changed with an invite to join a crew chasing magical unicorns. Discussions, laughs and a few caches found. Oh, and we found a unicorn nest and unicorn poo. No caches or unicorns were harmed in this adventure.

Locus landed on Sandy Bore Road at the EC reference point. EC answers have been sent.

If it's worth visiting once, it's worth visiting twice.

Came here before I realized I needed to visit two spots, so I left it until another day.

Came back and looked at the reference spot - I'd already been there earlier today d'oh!

Sent my analysis off to be assayed. Got a big tick from the 5 COs

Thanks for the cache, edc

Everyday I walk into work, I see the big stone statue in the foyer with a unicorn in the prominent position. The only thing is that this one is not magical, and worse than that it has lost its horn. Where did that go [?] - please find it and cement it back on its forehead so as to return the power and magic. Is a unicorn without a horn just another horse?

We didn't see or run over any magical creatures on our tour of the back blocks of the wild horse plains, just a dead cat. We found most where we thought they would be but failed to find a trace of any magic at #68. This one remains uncaptured, which is kinda nice in a way - one unicorn is left to run free..... We need a lot more magic and unicorns in the world. To find these caches, we did not employ the traditional method of hunting unicorns involving entrapment using a virgin, instead we use a GPSr and our eyes.

Thanks to equipe de cinq and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [:o)]
