Description

Coonabarabran Visitors Centre

The first in a series of virtual caches which will take you around Black Bunny's old home town of Coonabarabran.  This virtual tour will highlight some of the major buildings or places of interest in the area.

To claim this cache, simply head to posted co-ords, where you will be standing next to the model of the Australian National University's 2.3m telescope located at Siding Spring Observatory.

To claim this cache you will need to provide two things:

1. Take a photo of yourself (or team) at the spot and post it in your log, and

2. Email me which direction the telescope is facing (north, south, east, or west)

While you are here, drop in to the Visitor's centre and pick up some information about the attractions and other points of interest such as the Warrumbungles National Park and Siding Spring Observatory as these may be helpful for future caches.

Other Virtuals in the series will be listed over time and I hope you enjoy this series of caches.

Found on our trip to the Big Island.
Our Caching Avatar is the wombat so when photos are required then our two wombats step up for the job. The little brown one is Grumbli and the larger grey is Rosie

It's down to the Bunny (and my ineptitude) that I don't have a camera-ready phone, so no photo. I guess I can ask the cache owner to give me an exemption, if his memory isn't good enough.

Dayboro trip. Day 14. I spent the night in Moree and began the next leg of my journey south to Tooraweenah. It was good to get some caches in each of the towns I passed through including Narrabri. It was a nice day and getting cooler as I went.

I have done a few caches around here before.

Thanks for the cache

Day 8 of our journey for the CacheQld Mega at Dayboro, We had planned on taking a longer time to return home, but due to commitments at home we need to return and have our Covid test in Vic to meet those appointment times.

Today we travelled from Moree to Parkes, adding smileys along the journey.

We found 11 GC's as well as several GCA's.

On our way to Dayboro for the Mega (though covid seems to be getting in the way of that plan..) popped in for lunch in this lovely little town. We came through recently and got all the info but forgot to log. Making sure we do it today!! Thanks for the cache Smile

#GA5131 - 17:35; Day one of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the Dayboro Mega. The weather was fine at last as we set off from the National Capital and made our way towards Narrabri where we planned to spend the night. After a short detour to the airstrip for the local CORS, we arrived in Coonabarabran where we stopped to grab a snap of the local CORS, then on into town for this cache. Grabbed a snap here too before setting off for another trig! TFTC Black Bunny Very HappyClan Cerberus

Stopped in Coona to grab this and a couple of other caches. No issues at all and the required photo was soon snapped. E-mail sent to the CO with the answer to the question. After grabbing the cache, stopped off to catch up with old friends of the family...first time since 1999. Great to see things are going well...even if we are all getting a little bit older.

Thanks BB....always enjoy coming back to Coona..... Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

On the last part of the trip home (Coonabarabran seems practically local after driving from St Arnaud). Got the info for this then found a bakery still open. Bought a snack and found a shady park for a rest. I'd almost drive back again to get another of those apple turnovers. Wink TFTV Black Bunny

Day 2 of our trip from Melbourne to Cairns. We left Ardlethan this morning, stopped here for lunch, and stayed at Moree tonight.
Our last trip through this town was 7 years ago and my son was amazed that the display at the Vistors Centre has not changed much since then.
I took the required photo and hopefully have answered the question correctly.

we stopped by to locate this virtual cache. We are on our way to Alexandra event in Victoria.TFTC

Day 3 of our journey to Alexandra. Left Nanango Qld on Monday and stayed overnight in Moree. Left Moree early on Tuesday and now it is Wednesday and we are staying in Dubbo till Friday. Collecting GCA hides on the way south as this is the perfect time for me to increase my finds for GCA and my Dragon Zone points. Parked close by and took the short walk. Email sent with the answer to the question. TFTC Black_Bunny. Clan MinotaurDancingClapping

Got the required photo and used the GPS to answer the question before going in to the centre to check out a few things about the area. Talked to a lovely volunteer in there who was more than helpful. Thanks.
