GA Cachers Catch Up at the Parkville Saturday Night BBQ

As many of us will already be at the location for the mega's Saturday Night BBQ I thought it would be a great opportunity to get us together for a short catch up

Well, I made it... Just in time for Dibbler's delicious meat-in-a-bun. All jokes aside, it was delicious.
The State Elections wreaked havoc on my plans for the day, which originally involved logging a dozen cache types in a day, but hey, you've gotta make hay while the sun shines.
It was fantastic meeting so many interstate GCA people, some I'd bumped into previously and others new faces but familiar names. Apologies if I wasn't particularly with it; it's been a long couple of weeks.

I travelled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I attended the event on Saturday and caught up with some west ozzies and we headed out and grabbed all the lab caches and when i had some spare time headed out to grab some GCA caches close by. This event was a very quick and easy find as there was 2 gatherings of GCA cachers happening at the same time, which then merged into one. Thanks for hosting this event Kittykatch was great to meet so many fellow GCA cachers.

I had forgotten about this event until somebody asked me to sign the logbook whilst I was in the meal queue.

I didn't even realise this event existed until someone handed me the logbook! But it was great to meet some of the other GCA players and discuss all things GCA!

#GA3239 - 19:30; An event within an event! It was great to catch up with so many other GCA cachers, as well as collecting a few moveables as a bonus. It was so nice to meet many of the interstate cachers I knew by name, but can now (hopefully) put a face to in the future. Looking forward to doing some caching in your home territories sometime soon, or perhaps catching up again in Queanbeyan next Easter! TFTE Kittykatch

Wow - I wasn't sure how many cachers would attend and am so happy that I had a chance to meet so many other like-minded GA cachers. People kept coming out of the crowd and joining us and I am sorry to those that couldn't find the meet up. I hope that we can arrange similar meet ups when the opportunity arises. Thanks to all for helping to make the event such a success
I missed the notification that there was a nearby GCA event while I was at the BBQ at Parkville, it wasn't until i spotted someone holding my GCA cache 'Join the Convoy' that I ventured over to see what was going on!
It was really great to put some faces to names that I see regularly in logs and on movables.
Given that I am a little isolated in SA in regards to other GCA geocachers I had lots of questions about Dragon Zone and the upcoming challenges. I still need lots of answers as i find it all a little confusing, but it was good to chat through some of the things with others.

Apologies for the log and run but the rest of the party were keen to get home for a feed and beverage out of the cold. Great to catch up with the people I did but look forward to staying a bit longer next time.

Thanks so much KittyKatch for organising this. It was so good to see both codes in the one area.

I took my Lancelot Geocacher Geocaches for our Tasmanian friends to sign, as I thought most others had signed it at Morisset, but I was amazed at how many new signatures were added at this event.
It was also good to see new players there as well who had been introduced to this great game via Lancelot.

Having just been convinced by Mummy Short Legs to make use of my GA log in after 4 years of it just sitting there this was amazing introduction to the special world of GA. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. I loved meeting so many more people at this gathering and catching some of your GA enthusiasm and passion. Look forward to more in the future. Sadly I couldn't find the logbook location so I was there but didn't actually attend. Found 2 nearby GCA caches so that was cool.

It was good to have a gathering of GCA cachers from interstate. It was an opportunity to put faces to names that we often see in logs particularly during the GCA games. We chatted, swapped geocacher cache information and logged moveables.

found at mega event at Parkville with a group of other Geocachers who also participate in Geocaching Australia. Event log was signed, moveables exchanged and logged and other geocacher caches were logged as well. It was great to have both codes at the one event. Wonderful to meet so many other geocachers and exchange stories, hints and ideas. thanks Kittykatch for organising this event within an event

How hard it is to find an event in an event when you don't know a lot of the people you're looking for? Actually not that hard. Recognised some from log photos, got to catch up with the few we knew and met others. Enjoyed swapping and earning more geocacher geocache codes. Thanks for organising Kittykatch.

Third day of my caching trip to Victoria. Today I started in Werribee, then on to the You Yangs ( including a parkrun) and back to Melbourne for the main reason off the trip, the parkville event. Again lots of caches, mostly easy, quick and painless. Lots of fun in this region, so a massive thanks to all the cahe owners!

I had this event as a 'pretty please' on my requirements given to my caching buddy, Kato Potato, as we drove in from Gippsland for the MEGA. She obliged, particularly as it was held concurrently with the BBQ. We delighted in meeting other GCA cachers and I was so happy to gather their geocacher codes. Thank you ever so much to Kittykatch for organising and making the event a fabulous meetup. I loved it.
