Logs

This geocache appears to be MIA so to stop it clogging the search lists we'll archive it. This is done to keep the Geocaching Australia clean and up to date.

If the owner can confirm it is in place the listing can be resurrected by placing an "unarchived" log against it.

Reading previous logs, this moveable has been removed for a little TLC. We know moveables can sometimes be forgotten / missed / left in the bottom of a caching bag, so a check has been undertaken on this one.

An update will be posted within 28 days….

In the absence of input from the CO have brought this frog back to Tasmania. He's still a soggy frog and unless he dries out completely, the rot will make short work of him. We'll see what we can do to get him back into shape for travelling.

14-Oct-18
Found this frog after a bit of a struggle. The hint was "Living as a troll would" so logically that made me think of bridges. Arrive at GZ and there are two excellent bridges. Close examination of these produced no result. Nearby was a wooden ramp up to a rotunda. The GPS favoured this ramp and considered as a place to hide, it looked safer than the bridges, which could possibly be inundated. Problem was, not a frog to be seen. I was also worried by the fact that several new boards had been installed on the bridge. These appeared to be less than twelve months old and thus happened after the frog was hidden. One of these boards was close to the start, where the ramp was very close to the ground. As a last resort, I had a squint through the part broken board next to the replacement and realised that Spatialkermit was huddled down in there. He was up against the soil on two sides, with a bearer in front of him and the new board preventing his extraction!
A little bit of discrete enlarging (they really should have replaced that board as well!)of the rot hole through which I spotted him and I could get hold of him but not extract him. As a last resort I pushed him over the bearer and between the joists, then propelled him as far as I could. Of course there wasn't a useful stick to be found, so all that was left to do was squirm snake like, up under the ramp to where I could just grab him.
Not sure which of us was the muddier but I got some very strange looks from the lady in the garden opposite the park. No matter. The frog is safe! Problem now is I'm not sure what to do with him. I could hide him in Canberra tomorrow, or Adelaide the day after but I'm concerned he really needs some TLC. I could take him back to Tassie and fix him up a bit? The damp has got into him and he's starting to crack and rot. He's currently propped up in front of a hair dryer in my hotel room, drying out a bit, but it'll take a while to dry him right to the core. The damage then needs to be repaired, before he's repainted.
All in all, he's not too bad for a seven year old travelling frog, especially a wooden one, but he won't last much longer without intervention. RibbitVery Happy

Took the frog for a bit of a walk to find somewhere private but ended up near a carpark. Still a nice spot for a frog. He's right in the middle of the bushes so you'll need to crawl to get him. Sorry about that but too public for a more sophisticated hide and no time to try somewhere else.

Stole from my daughter. I remember finding this frog in WA and bringing him to Tasmania. Now I think I'll take him on another interstate trip.... RibbitVery Happy

Now this guy was here...and he jumped in my car (see attached photo), but alas I had to tell him no, he couldn't come with me as he would probably cost me excess baggage on the way home. So sadly for Kermit, he still sits under the bush, waiting for the next visitor....which I hope comes along soon.

Thanks SpatialRiq...I hope he does get moved soon....

What else can you do on a wet day but go caching - saw there were several moveables waiting to be found in this area that I had not visited since I was a child and lived down here. Still a beautiful area even on a rainy winters day. Thanks for bringing me back down here. Found easily thanks to accurate coordinates & hint.

On an afternoon walk in Bicentennial Park we noticed this cache was hidden nearby. After a short hunt we located SpatialKermit who had been in residence for 90 weeks. He is in very good condition despite a healthy crop of grass growing in the dirt attached to him. Will clean him up and check the condition of his log and mint tin before setting him loose again.

Hi Spatialrig
Anne and I left for the West Coast about 0810hrs yesterday. Today, day two of the West Coast tour, saw us leave Queenstown, visit Strahan and stay the night at Zeehan.

This cache was the third on the agenda for today.
Arrived at the car parking area only and walked the track to ground zero quickly. Walking passed the featrues of mining history placed there by the local Lions Club.
The hunt for the cache was short lived; the cache was soon in hand, and taken with me at 0818hrs this morning. The frog will stay with me until I get back down South where it will be released to the whims of searching cachers.
Back into the cache mobile and off to get Anne before continuing our west Coast tour.

Found five caches in total for day one. Day two, eleven caches found. Have had a better time watching Anne's face as she got a better look at the West Coast. She's loved Nelsons Falls and the Museum at Zeehan.
Thanks for the cache and the fun of the find
Cheers OldSaint.

SpatialKermit enjoyed the long drive to Queenstown. He ran out of energy to get to the top of the hill which is the site of the Spion Kop lookout. He's waiting quietly to be found about halfway up and you too can have a bit of a rest right near him on your way to the top!

26-Jun-12
Easy find and pick up on a fabulously sunny mid-winter's day. Very few muggles about and the board-walk still had frost on it in the shady parts although it was mid-afternoon!

SpatialKermit is going for a long drive tomorrow!
