Hi The Oompas,

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

Could the Reviewer please investigate progress on Maintenance of this cache. I'd love to be able to actually Find It! Thanks.

The cache is inaccessible. It may be missing. It seems the Council/Water Authority don't want people trying to find it.

Alright well I’m not going to fight a nearly 4 year long stretch of DNFs; cool path though

23-Jan-22
I couldn't find this cache as it is not accessible. Steel grill and mesh at one end, and locked/chained gate at the other. A previous finder who was with me confirmed this was not how it was when he was able to get in and find it. So it may be missing, but it needs to be checked. (Last confirmed finds were in October 2018 by u_c, BTM & GM10; also Austin&Vanessa). (The 'Found It' log in December 2020 looks accidental - please delete this if it is). I hope this old cache can be reactivated and live on. Smile

I'm a but weary of v the recent cacher who found this.

I'm a bit suspicious.

Came past this cache today after doing The Nut Tree
The water was still a very interesting shade of green and likely very deep after all the recent rain fall
I'll add it to my "watch and don't forget gumboots" list as I'd like to find something this old with this many favourites

06-Aug-20
I've been eyeing this cache off for a while.

Gotta wait for a stint of warm/hot weather so the water dries... Or atleast purchase some gumboots..

16-Nov-19
Found the caged entrance but it was flooded with green water. Climbed up on the cages to go as far in as I could but couldn't locate the cache, figured torches and gumboots will be needed

09-May-19
After an initial look at the location a couple of weeks ago I returned today suitably equipped for the job. Counted paces to where I thought GZ ought to be and had a good look around. Found a couple of likely looking hiding places but sadly no cache.

14-Feb-19
No luck today.
I had originally tried for this one a couple of months ago but at the time the water was shin deep and i couldnt approach the GZ easily.
Today the water was low enough to head to the GZ.
I counted my steps from the landmark to the entrance and splashed my way in.
There is a lot of wildlife in the area including frogs, lizards and moths.
I spent about 30 mins searching around but was unable to locate the cache.
Ill have to try again another day.

We looked for a while but the rain became more and more heavy. Once back in the car, I was reading the previous logs. Should have done that before we looked for the cache as we clearly we looking on the wrong location. Will come back another time.

I'm very excited to attempt this one.
Making my way to the approach I had only TOTT. Without a backup and all alone I decided against trying it this time around.
See you again soon...

#1864 after going to Lansdowne with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC we decided today was a good day to try 1905 as we were on our way home. This is near where I worked when I was in school on a market garden and have spent years in the area & have walked these walking tracks a number of times so knew exactly where we needed to go. We all had our torches and headed in. We first walked from end to end then back to GZ. It took us a few minutes to make the find.

Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache The Oompas & thanks for the group for fixing the cache up so it can continue

I'll come back again

The following TBs visited for the distance - phlphotos 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 NSW geocoin, phlphotos travelling 2012, 2017 NSW Geocoin, phlphotos Mary Hyde's compass, phlphotos Spindoc Bob Memorial Geocoin, phlphotos, phlphotos Area 51 Tag, phlphotos backpacker canister cover, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Geocoin, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Tag, phlphotos CITO Micro Geocoin, phlphotos Col Miner geocoin, phlphotos Four Elements Geocoin, phlphotos Optical Illusion Geocoin, phlphotos Trackable Building Brick, phlphotos Travel Bug Dog Tag, phlphotos Oz GeoMuster 2018 geocoin, phlphotos Oz GeoMuster 2018 geocoin, & dirty Black Juke

On a caching run with phlphotos, alnic39 and JJCC. This particular cache had been on our hit list for some time as it originally filled in a gap in our D/T grid, but we soon filled that spot in and this cache ended up on the back burner until today.

It is currently a great time to find this cache, as due to the current weather conditions, access is dry....and the gates at both ends are currently open. We walked the full length before working our way back to GZ and started checked the likely hide spots until phlphotos spotted something and soon had the cache in hand. We signed the log before replacing as found. Thanks for the cache TheOompas.

The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling and Richard Teer.

This one has always filled me with a sense of dread. But so has Dark Side of the Moon, and we did that one a couple of weeks ago and it was a breeze. A little less roomy that Dark Side and the more adventurous ones wanted to walk the whole thing...why? I don't know, but I was appreciative of the support at such a cache, so I pretended that I was happy to make the most of the experience. Damn! I'm a good actor!

Wow! What a fantastic cache! I did my homework and read some logs before LouLou0212 and myself attempted this one. We found the correct entrance. With the cache name written on top of it Smile we parked at the correct spot (second attempt...) we had torches. We had a pen. We had well no, we didn’t have gum boots. But we made the find, thanks to some previous logs. What a fantastic cache! Thank you so much for placing it and to the other teams for maintaining it! A favourite from me. TFTC The Oompas

Becknmonts told me that there was no way she was going to go retrieve this cache alone, and yet she was determined to get it. I knew what that meant. It meant I would have no choice. I had no idea what we were in for, but BeckNmonts has everything we needed. Except for spare shoes. She didn’t seem very worried about that, but then she wasn’t the one driving. My poor car! However the cache and location more than made up for some mud. A favourite from me for a fantastic cache. TFTC The Oompas

Sunday our friend called us, said lets take the puppies out walking!

It's very warm, but I have just the place, mostly out of the heat.

So, off we set 3 walkers 3 puppies wander down from Prospect Reservoir where we had parked.

We pass the first opening, I say not this one, but soon we will be able to enter to the underground.

Soon enough we found a much easier way the enter the area and as the torches went on the Puppies started walking through the nice cool water and darting towards the frogs whom had made a home in the fantastic place.

So, we walked through the pipeline, back to where the cache might be located, I knew exactly where to find it but had left that part to the others for a challenge.

Once it was found signed and returned we walked the length and all the way back having a great time looking at the frogs and trying to hold darting puppies.

This is actually the 3rd time having visited this spot and have noticed the water level very low.
If you are a future finder without gumboots now is a good time to find.

Another epic adventure.

Regards

Oh my, what a ridiculous adventure! We totally ignored all our nine years of geocaching experience and were the most stupid geocachers ever here ---- and loving it!! We parked not far from GZ and cased the situation knowing that we would have to change levels. We thought about where a good entry point might be and mosied down the path a bit until we found a likely spot. Unfortunately it was fenced off; fortunately there was one area where the grid was open.

So we carefully stepped and counted our way back to GZ and then double-checked on our way back. Fortunately it was pretty dry; unfortunately the open grid area was pretty small. We agreed that if we could get in we would do it. Fortunately Mrs Gaztek fit through; unfortunately for him, so did Mr Gaztek. This was the start of a really dumb decision that we only considered afterwards. What if those rainclouds burst open? We're going to be washed up against the grid with nowhere to go.

So we got out our TOTT and made a few tentative steps inward. Unfortunately the batteries on the head lamp were dead; also unfortunately the small torch worked so we had to forge on. Slowly counting our steps we made our way along. Mrs G was stuck with leading the way because it was her silly idea in the first place. The hint made us think that God's intervention would reveal the right location. We got to our counted destination but there was nothing different. We went a bit further and found a different kind of place but not the hoped-for divine assistance. So we pressed on.

Fortunately we saw the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel; unfortunately it was the end of the tunnel. Hang on a minute. What did we miss and ... what the??!! this end is very near the car. Massive doh! OK, let's go out, step our way back to GZ. We realised that our internal steps were much smaller being full of trepidation than our external steps so we took littler ones and then headed back to the newly-discovered gate-wide-open entry.

Mrs G is still leading the way and mentioning the occasional cute little frog which Mr G just did not want to know about. OK the steps have brought us to the unlit place of difference. So it has to be here. Hey, what's that on the wall? Not holy help but a sign that we are definitely in the right place. Fortunately our torch was still working and fortunately we found something unusual and fortunately the hook was well-baited and we were rewarded with a find. YAY!!

With some relief we headed back to the easy entry and then had boggled minds about what the heck this thing was for in the first place! Anyway, a clear and memorable favourite from us. What guts to wander in here in the first place, much less to hide a geocache here. Just bloody excellent! SL TFTC Cheers.... Gaztek

Best cache by a mile this year! I had just done two nice and fun caches and was winging about walking on a concrete path with 40 degrees. Nobody with me so nobody heart me anyway. Was about a few hundred meters from gz when I noticed something and though, that's where I would put a cache. Left and proceeded to gz only to not find anything at all?? My bad for not reading the description nor difficulty/terrain rating! As soon as I started reading I knew what to do, yipee, into my environment. Glad to get out of the sun and lucky it wasn't to wet. Fairly unprepared, but at least had my phone and not my best shoes. Soon made it to gz again and this time it was a much quicker find. Thouroughly enjoyed the hole experience. Of course a favourite!!!

OCW Alephroom. Oh wow! Never in my life have I done anything quite like this... Weird? Intriguing? Sensory debilitating? Awesome location for a cache. The multitude of frogs was amazing to the point of me being worried we’d accidentally step on one! Certainly not what I was expecting and I loved the experience. This cache is a grid filler and one of two left on my immediate radius around home map. Glad to finally log this one. TFTC!

Located at 4:28pm. OCW Coastblue. This was, in a few words, a classic and unique and all together other-worldly Geocaching experience. On an expedition with many goals achieved this was the first of fifteen finds today and it really was the perfect beginning. We parked ‘close’ to GZ, grabbed the necessary items to make our descent and headed in. Our voices bounced around over here and over there, it sounded like a party was going on and the multitude of frogs as well looked keen to join in. We sloshed about a little and came upon GZ whereupon we had CIH, log signed and replaced. I had a quick peek around and down the corner, still simply amazed that we were able to be a part of this adventure. I love the unique grid filling combo on this one and would definitely do this again if needs be. A favourite point is well-earned. Thanks for re-establishing this. Спасибо! תודה! L’chaim! TFTC!

In my absolute fear yet excitement I walked straight past it. I took a tott... see picture ... to help keep me steady. But with gum boots I could have sloshed an splashed through and not lost footing. Thanks to locals like Contact Pete who fixed up this one so I could retrieve it. I brought with me a water proof bag and a heavy duty batt light which made the going easier.

A wall half way marks that your close to gz. Or the tunnel rats graffiti.

Tftc.
Fave point for sure.

Here's the story of a lovely hippy,
he had dreads of dirty gold.
He was to take part in a dreadfull and disastrous trip to the centre of the earth. with 6 other cachers. 7 in total. There was the going places, a contactable pete, the professor and his wife. It was also quite deep with dave.
2 caches later, it was down to 4, but nobody seemed to know what happened, except the hippy was chewing a lot and saying they wont be going places as often now on the hunt for a cache. But we know they both came out because there was more of Allans keys then when we started. I guess you had to be there, to understand that. We where also super nice to them because they brought tools and a replacement cache, so we could claim a find. we know Pete came out, because we could contact him on a small hill for some bison. A deepening dave came out alive and they where seen to be nuts. I guess you had to see the next cache attempted to understand that. Oh shit where the professor and his wife go. There was no island for them to hide on, but the hippy was satisfied that brains from a smart person tasted nicer.

TFTC TNLN and a favourite for something different.

Headed out on an expedition today with Contactpete, Deep_99, Going Places 2 and Paul the Hippy to find this cache and if not there replace it. Found GZ and part of the cache. Searched the hole with magnet with no luck. So we have replaced the cache container. (Thanks to Going Places 2 for bringing a replacement and some tools)

Great Monday Night expedition with Contactpete, Dave8153, Going Places 2 and Paul the Hippy to find this cache. Dave8153 made the find of the remains of the cache. then Going places 2 went fishing for the cache container with a magnet after a few minutes of pulling out various bits of metal it was decided to replace the container as it didn't seem to be at the bottom of the hole. Thanks to Going Places 2 for bringing a replacement and some tools to replace it with. The walk back to the entrance seemed to have more frogs than the trip in but they all hopped away into the water as we approached. Log 1230 Streak Day 345

At our event last Saturday we were talking with some of the attendees and brought up the topic of cache 1905. We had found on our previous visit that the attachment for the cache was in place, but with no container or log.
As this is an older cache, the general agreement was that the problem needed to be fixed to keep it in play.

So a caching group including contactpete, Deep 99, Paul the Hippy and Dave8153 and us met this evening and set off to venture in again.
There was less water to wade through through than the last time we were here, but still plenty of frogs in residence. Those who had not found it before arrived at GZ first and the cache attachment was found by Dave8153.

Then the fun began. Using a magnet on string, various things were raised from the depths including drill bits, an allen key, a dyna bolt ....... but no container.
So it was time to open the tool kit that we had brought with us and a new container was adapted and wired to the original cache extraction tool.
We signed the replacement log book with the date of our original visit and the other three cachers signed with today's date. Cache was replaced and everyone was happy with the success of this mission.

***The cache is again in play! Please be gentle when retrieving the cache as it does not need to be forced and indeed force might cause a problem with it.***

At an event on Saturday put on by GoingPlaces2 we learnt that Alan & Val were only a frw days short of a goal they set for 2 years streaking.
But as the event wore on it also became apparent that there was a bigger celebration to be had.
50 years of marriage was a pretty good milestone.
... great effort all round!!

After a while a few of got talking about a cache we wanted to check out..
1905, I had achived it earlier this year but was keen for some adventure.
It was soon decided, either Monday or Tuesday we will go hopefully find this cache or if its not found we could bring something along and get it underway once more...

Walked into the Drain/tunnel saw many frogs jumping around, also was some rubbish, around but oddly not too much really.

Reached GZ and told the new comers to have a look around, soon enough Dave8153 had the remains in hand...
We tried to find the original cache feared it may have broken off, using a magnet for a type of blind fishing game, pulled up Bolts, drill bits, an allen key, but no cache saddly.
It was decided we replace it and put it in action once more.

Armed with a drill, wire even a cache Alan begun building a new cache.

10 minutes later the names were on it, cache was in position and we were off...

Thank you for the adventure once more. Really enjoyed it...

Next one I come in... Tree climbing time...

Cache container seems to be missing. Owner check and maintenance needed urgently.

27-Sep-17
We went for a walk along the pathway to have a look at both ends of the tunnel even though we had been advised of the easier entry point. Took the advice offered and went wading in the gumboots and lit the way with our torches. No problem working out the area which would be GZ. Looked around and spotted something relevent to a hide and partly shown in some photos. Extracted the item but sadly there was no container attached now, so no log that could be signed either, but at least we did find what was still there.
Sent an email to the CO and have photos showing what was left of the cache.
This cache urgently needs some care.
Thanks to The Oompas for this little adventure.

TFTC,
Stage 2 of todays adventure.
This became a bonus cache for the day after finishing GCX1XV.
Mr H said that this was a cache he had heard about and I said I still needed it for my D/T grid and so we went for it. I was guided to the wrong location by my GPS to start from and after a change of course arrived at 4:30PM.
We found an entrance after searching all the wrong spots. Nana nel had suffered another cut to her leg and wasn't prepared to run the risk of getting any infections and so it was that Mr H and I headed in and found the cache after seeing daylight. Look forward to returning one day and taking Nana nel in to the cache so that she can post a found.
Visited trackables and added a favorite.

After a great day out at Glenbrook with a few geocaching friends, Wazza9 & I decided to divert here on the way home to have a go at this cache. It's been on our 'to-do' list for a long time, and Wazza9 also needed the rare difficulty/terrain rating. It was getting late by the time we arrived at the parking location, and when we found the entrance we needed, the sun had almost gone down. But that didn't matter, those Samsung S7 phones have amazing torches!
It was fun getting through the entrance and my waterproof hiking boots only just made it. However, Wazza9 went for the wet feet option!
Once inside, we enjoyed the interesting walk and spotted a couple of lost frogs along the way. The cache itself was an easy find as there really aren't many places to hide anything. What a cool cache though! Loved it! TFTC!
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Well, it's taken me over 3 weeks to log the cache, which is unusual as it's one of the best adventures that I've had in a long time! Surprised

Pete and I had previously arranged at an event to meet nearby on this day, to tackle this mammoth cache, and it was one that'd been on both of our radars for a number of years. I remember people talking about this cache not long after I'd started caching. A quick look at some of the photos of the cache back then, and I'd already decided that 'ohhh no way', that wouldn't be a cache for me. Yet, here I was, years later, with my new friend contactpete and we were gonna smash this cache (not literally!).

We arrived topside and paced out the approximate location. Which end should we enter from? Let's try the western end. Now contactpete is Mr Crossfit, and entry via the steel bars was no issue for him. But I hadn't done the limbo in a while and therefore surprised myself at the relative ease at which I was able to scramble into the caged area. Ok, torches on, let's go! Cool

After adjusting to the rapid drop in available light, we marched on. Every word, every ripple of water, every noise - sounded like it was all around (and in some cases, unnervingly behind). Finally after marveling at the frogs living down here, we reached GZ. Pete had the CIH within seconds and we marvelled at the uniqueness of it. Amazingly, we had phone signal at several points, as there were access pipes in the roof and we were relatively close to the surface.

With the log signed and the cache replaced, Pete suggested "Why don't we march on to the end?" so on we went. It didn't take long to reach the end, checking out some of the artwork along the way. Almost not wanting to leave this cool place, we then doubled back through the tunnel to our original entry point.

Great company and a great cache. What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon? Thanks Oompas, a fav for sure! Big Grin

After seeing MrMalcovic at a recent Event decided we were both keen to achive this cache, cause we had both been to location and both knew what was required.

So, we organise a time, the day was sorted and finally came around...

We both arrived armed with torches, and gumboots...

It seems like a hard task to get through the small opening in the cage, but once we climbed through unworried we were now off to find the elusive cache...

Walking through the tunnel we soon lost count of the steps needed to locate said cache, but went on thinking there wouldn't be too many places to hide a cache in any case....

Got to a area we thought might hold the key to hiding the cache and we were right...!

Revealed the cache, signed the log and enjoyed the experience.

All in all had a very good adventure, with very good company.

Left a gift for the next finder too.

Follow that adventure along with several others on my Periscope, Instagram & Twitter

Day Streak #58
#1 Cache for Today
#158 Caches this Year

Found this cache with my Dad Mick from Mick & Jeanette. Been waiting to have an opportunity to do this cache with him for a while.

We started out parked near the HYLAND Rd Youth Centre,

We walked up and along the Pathway to the GZ Co-Ordinates to help judge the distance to the cache.
We entered from the western end and Climbed through the small hole in the fence. (I'm a BIG bloke, I fit but a squeeze)
Walking along the tunnel was good fun and a great adventure, we found the cache and looked at all the writing on the wall from the other groups entering the tunnel.
We thought we might as well try and go all the way through so we headed to the eastern entrance and found the gate wide open.

It is a worthwhile adventure to go all the way through the tunnel.

A favourite cache.

Thanks for the cache

TFTC. #244. Our absolute favourite find so far! We parked nearby on Hyland Rd for an easy walk up to the bike path. Not far to GZ but had to try a few possible access points before finding the right one. Into the green water and then out of daylight, equipped with 2 torches we walked along for an unknown distance. Finally stopped around where we thought and hoped it would be, missed it at first but saw something unusual. Thought it was rubbish looked around a bit more, had no luck (geo-mum was VERY keen to get out of there!!!) after a quick second look, we found it! Never been more happy for a smiley!!! Favourite point from us ( would get a "freaked out" point from geo-mum if such a thing existed!)

Adventure Time Today.
Came here thinking I could either grab *1905* or *The Nut Tree*.
Scouted both and decided (after checking the BOM Radar for rain) that it would be the tunnel.
Easy find - once I was at GZ..
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
I've been meaning to grab this one for a long time, but would have preferred to do it with someone else. But the likely suspects had all done it. So...

Parked *The Hademobile* in Hyland Road, very close to GZ, but scouted my two possible targets. Ooh, a Magmar!
After the distraction, I noticed that some intel I'd recently received on this one was correct - had expected it to be no longer true with my luck. But I found I had an easier access to GZ than many finders. All I need is to grab the gumboots.

So back to the car for a change of footwear and the Geotorch, then back to my chosen entrance.
My it is eerie in there and the water was just over ankle height the whole way. Caught quite a few frogs in the torchlight, and every sloshing step echoed around disconcertingly - is that someone at the entrance?

I'd paced out my distance up top when scouting both entrances, and as I counted down the likely GZ loomed.
A bit of checking and I spotted something very suss. CIH!

Juggled cache, torch, pen and iPhone as I completed signing duties - no dropping anything here - and noted the cache name engraved on the container - nice touch.

Replaced, and then the wade out - quicker as having gone in I was more confident of my footing.
Back in the real world, a muggle was riding by as I emerged. He'll have no idea what I was doing, or even realise I was inside probably.

A nice little adventure. Time for home.

OK wow!!! I didn't expect to get this wet!! I have tiny feet and I was pretty sure my shoes were waterproof.. proven wrong!!
Pk and I both forgot to get spare socks and 3 steps in to the tunnel, my feet were soaked and shoes were in pools of water! Getting to the cache we saw tiny little frogs on our way, where I was afraid of stepping on one of them.. But they seemed stress free of my worries!
Found the cache in great condition!
Here's an FP for the adventure!

2 of 12 finds today

I'd been wanting to do this one for sometime.. So i finally drag ADI with me to do this one.. I warned her sh'll need some spare cloths in case she get to wet.. We it rained last night so there more water in the tunnel then I expected.. I was lucky as I was able to tip toe thru the deeper parts, but ADI no luck.. straight into her shoe's oh well.. were here now!! so we continue..

We get to gz and make a quick find and complete the signing duties. we head out dodging the frogs and the odd spider.. I get 4 metres from the exit and I step into a depper part and now I have water inside my shoe.. but not as bad as ADI's. poo, shit, crap and said to myself.. oh well D/T point done. TFTC and a FP from me.

Looking for something special for the day and this one fit the bill. What better to do on a mid winters day than to traipse through cold water and mud? With the intrepid Brewmaker and Aries44 happy to come along for the ride the trip was on.

Love anything underground - we quickly found the entrance then shimmied through the small access without further incident beyond very cold feet. Through the tunnel for a quick find of this interesting container. Coming back out I thought we were going to get the thrill on seeing Aries fall into yet another body of water, but sadly it was not to be.

Thanks for a great adventure.

OCW delloro and Brewmaker today.
First cache of the day and prepared we were for some wet work. I swear I saw a pair of flippers in Brewmakers car boot. Off we went and soon arrived at the way-in to the cache. The first bit was a struggle trying to keep dry and me with my barrel chest had a bit of a challenge with the confined space. I was determined not to fall in to the amusement of others.
Once in we headed in and not long afterwards came up against GZ. Nice hide at which we signed the log. No sign of rats, bats but one spider was spotted. A great hide and a great adventure for us. TFTC Oompas.

This is certainly the most unusual cache hunt I have undertaken so far. OCW delloro and Aries44 for a great day collecting 17/17. And this beauty to get the day rolling.

We were well prepared for this with sensible shoes - no socks and sandals today! Once we squeezed our way into the tunnel, it was head torches leading us through the abyss. It was very wet underfoot but we soon found the hidden treasure. Signed the log and took the TB to move on. Heading back out we spied a tiny spider but nothing else scary. Back outside and pleased with this success. A change of footwear and on our way. And no need to use the flippers I had in the car!

A great hide. A favourite from me. TFTC.#672

We found this one a long time ago but apparently forgot to log it. Only warning I would have to people are be careful you don't step on the cute little froggies.

After crawling through the wrong hole, geo wife read the logs. Still it took us a little while to find the access. After locating, geo wife decided to act as guard and let me go down a search. With new waterproof hiking shoes on, off I went, crabbed through the access hole and into the abyss. Thought I would take two torches with me 'Just in case', but alas one didn't work, even with a good LED torch, the abyss sucked the light requiring me to navigate down the sides. Water not too deep and like many previous trekkers, it seems to take ages to get to the GZ. Phone no good just your gut feeling and the likelihood of where it could be. After reaching GZ, had cache in hand and now to juggle the cache, torch and log. I managed, and replaced everything. Decided to leave a Pathtag for the next intrepid adventurer who treks into the abyss. Good luck for those who follow.
Worthy of a fav point. Oh the hiking boots live up to their claim, kept my feet nice and dry.

13/11/14. 10:10 AM. Cache #3205. Streak day #509.
2nd of 5 today - Pemulwuy, Seven Hills, Quakers Hill & Blacktown.

After finding "4 tree friends" nearby, i couldn't resist coming here to have a look at this one, which has been on my to-do list for a while. Sure, I could have waited until the end of the month - I'm sure a large group might probably attempt this after the Geo-Christmas event at Prospect - and going in a large group would be fun in a different way, but in hindsight having done it solo with very little light had the adrenalin surging and the heart racing.

First - how to get in. From where I'd parked at the Hyland Rd Youth Centre, I could see the path that needed to be followed. I walked to the posted coordinates, knowing that the cache was at quite a different level. Then walked one way along the path to where I'd seen a way in. Nope, totally locked. Past the cache then to find an opposite entrance, this time with a way in. After cutting through some tall grass and making my way along the channel, I got down towards the entrance, now knowing I was going to be sacrificing a pair of sneakers to ankle-deep water and slime. I contorted my way through the portal and was in!

From here, I knew the supposed distance to GZ, but with the iPhone and vivofit not being able to properly measure distance here, would I be able to guess it right myself? Once in the dark, I tried out the iPhone torch app. It barely lights up more than a two or three metre sphere around me, which is not great, but it really added to the atmosphere of being alone. Thoughts of Magnus Greel's giant rats from an old Doctor Who episode entered my head, especially when I heard the odd "plop" sound up ahead of the light.

I carefully picked my way forward, but after what felt like several minutes I'd seen no cache and had no idea how far I'd come. I kept going, and then came to some features reminiscent of the start. I was worried now that I'd gone well past the GZ point and was almost at the locked entrance. However, I still pressed on and when I saw an item of interest worth investigating, I then realised after a bit of manipulation that I had cache in hand! Yeehar! It would not have been good to come here empty-handed, that's for sure!

I opened it up and got the log out, jammed though it had been. It was tricky holding all the bits and pieces and being careful not to drop anything into the slime below. Signed, and replaced, then time to head back out. It was then that I realised that the plops I'd heard weren't rats, but little frogs. The echoes are interesting too - even a little tap of the foot can be heard way up ahead, and behind. Cool, but unsettling.

I finally made it back out, with drenched shoes and socks, and made my way next to "Owen's Views". For the unique adventure, this one has earned a favourite for sure!!! TFTC.

I was quite excited when I realised that today's work meeting was near here, one of Sydney's classic caches. I'd scoped out GZ some years before, and k we what to expect, and how to approach it.

What I didn't think about was my footwear. Leather shoes before a meeting were entirely inappropriate, so once again I will have to come back...

A bit of adventure and cold water to go with it

Being in this area, the GeoWife pulled this Cache up on the Ipad..So we set the CoOrds into the Etrex and made our way to GZ...But What???? Did we have it wrong.
The Muggles on the Cycleway must have thought we were into collecting Grass Seeds or something as I was tasked with going over the nearby features on my Hands and Knees.
Obviously this Cache was not going to show itself that easily.
Finally a Light came on in our confused heads and we realised that there was more to this than the Satellite could provide. When we were at the Ideal Approach location, the Geowife became a little hesitant.
We had to decide that possibly a change of clothes were going to be needed after retreval!!!
So we went back to the car and prepared ourselves.....
Oh,,,, The Stink!!!! NoOne had been through that water for quite some time...
We knew the distance to GZ but that is totally different walking under normal conditions in Daylight.
Fortunately, I had a bit of experiance in this type of environment and we soon has CIH.
Then the return journey was made with a smile on the Geowife's face because she had perservered and WON.
Our boots now have a Reminding Odour of this Cache...

Came here to tackle this one on a very hot day, once in the shade and beond the temperature wasent an issue. We have a couple of caches like this one and have enjoyed the excitement that come with the terrain. Creative use of limited hiding spots, seen frogs but thankfully no leg less once. Thanks for the fun.

I was a woman on a mission this morning. Once all the kids were signed out of Kids Church I was off and running. I had to find 5 caches before picking up my son at 12:30 to make an assault on '1905' for my 500th cache.
I found a cache heavy area not too far from home and went to work. I made the necessary finds and collected my passenger.
With my son onboard and 499 caches in the bag I was ready to tackle this one. I'd sent Celtical a message in the morning, but by the time I'd found all the caches I needed to makes this one no. 500 I was running very late and I wasn't even sure if she was able to come along. There was another little blue car parked at the bottom of the hill which I thought might be hers. We made our way to the entrance prepared for some urban spelunking. Still no sign of Celtical.
Mindful of snakes after last weekend's encounter, we stomped under the caches namesake into the cool recesses. Part way along we spied a flashlight coming back towards us. Sure enough, Celtical had bravely ventured in alone when we hadn't arrived at the proposed time. She returned with us to GZ and prevented us from overshooting our goal. Muggle son made the find. If all the caches were as interesting as this one we'd have a convert.
The return trip was uneventful. I enjoyed the little frogs which have made this place their home. Is this slumming for a frog? I'm sure if I was a frog I'd pick a prettier location.
Thanks for the adventure. I very memorable find for my 500th and worthy of a Fav. Point

Not quite my 300th, but close enough for a momentous cache!

Wow what a rush!!

Decided I wanted company to do this one & when jmaxadventures said she was looking for company too I jumped at the chance, and loosely arranged a time to meet.

Got to GZ - paced out the distance several times then waited.............. but no sign of jmaxadventures. After a while I thought, well maybe she's already done it or is inside......... so do I have a go on my own or do I come back another time?

there are lots of things that scare me - dark, confined spaces, underground, snakes, rats.............. this place has them all!!

Bugger it - I'm giving it a go (after a quick phone call to the geoteen "If you haven't heard from me in an hour, call the firies!!")................... so I stomped and made lots of noise........... didn't see any snakes (thankfully) and got to the entrance................... plenty of water over ankle deep in places.............. wiggled my way through and sorted out the torches.................... & off I went........

Despite having paced it out above I reckon I must have taken much smaller steps underground because I was nervous............ but eventually got to a likely spot & quickly signed the log. Yay me, I feel so brave!!

As I was walking back along the tunnel there were torches coming the other way........... It was jmaxadventures & her son, so we all went back to the cache.

Lovely to meet some fellow cachers, even if it is a weird place to bump into people.

Fantastic cache. thank you very much The oompas, well worthy of a favourite.

Found the entrance. Found a red-bellied black.
Will return when I've found some gumboots, a torch, some courage and hopefully someone to tackle this adventure with.
If there's is anyone watching this who'd like company send me a message.
It would make a good celebration for my 500th cache which I'm close to.

I checked out this one previously, finding GZ and then discovering what I thought was the entrance to it, just up from the road. When I tried it today I found an impenetrable barrier. I figured what goes up must come down and vice versa so I went wandering. I took the advice of the Village People and found the alternative entrance.
As with others I went past the GZ and reached the other end. this wasn't a problem and I returned to the only obvious hiding area (with its own bong) and began the search. Facing up the the search proved fruitless but in the end the clever hide was found.
This was my 546th cache and I have never given a favourite point (not feeling confident, etc of my judgement). This one however grabbed my imagination and I give one gladly.

26-Jul-14
We had been thinking about this one for a while but was never quiet prepared when ever we passed. Today was a bit different as we had to be in older clothes for something else. The rain was a question mark but having been dry for so long we knew it would take a while to reach inside. Infact it was wetter outside than in as we avoid getting our shoes we inside. We parked close and made our way to GZ. We could see how others have mistaken the high entry point but we continued to the correct entry point and found the small opening in the big entry and squeezed our way in. Round the chicane we went and into the darkness the quiet. The echo certainly sounds like you are not alone but you soon get use to it. We initially over shoot our target but soon realise before we got to the other end so a quick double back and a look in a few locations we saw something that with a bit of investigation yeilded a cache. The log book was a bit tight but we soon completed the signing duites and re hid. TFTC. A fav Pt from us

No. 376

Ooh this one was spookily fun! Made my way through the little entrance, and guided myself by iPhone torch alone. I could barely see 2 steps in front of me though, and I think my own footsteps scared me more than I'd like to admit! Found the cache easily enough in its great hiding spot, and made my way out quick smart. Loved it though, will definitely get a favourite once I earn one. TFTC!

Today this find is number 4,000th and I actually had planned to do it on Monday the 19th of May (1905). However work has me interstate tomorrow so it has to be (1805). We came prepared dressed for the limbo entrance dance and the tip-toe through the mud and water. Once inside lights on and eyes adjusted to the darkness its was counting the paces to GZ. The coolness was pleasant and the only sounds were the soft echoing of foot steps. I must report no frogs or other creatures of the dark were lurking about. Continuing past GZ the entire length of the tunnel was explored, before returning and finding the well hidden cache. This is another of The Oompas fabulous caches and well deserves a favorite point. TNLN just great memories.

The 11th of July 2009 I logged a DNF due to the area being accessible due to works being carried out. It would have been my 1,000th find.

Got right down to the way in before I chickened out!

Was a bit muddy and the skies were getting very dark, (didn't want a flash flood - probably no chance of that - but there you go........)

If anyone big & brave fancies giving this one a go and doesn't mind a wimp tagging along - would love to do this with company!

Warning - if you in go under the "bridge" thingy - there is a wasps nest under there.

Now that was an eerie, slimy, spooky cache!
The remains of realight candles do not set the scene with frogs swimming away from the light, nor does the constant echo of every sound made help.

Did a circuit of a couple higher terrain caches whilst GeoDaughter did an ice skating session.

GeoSon and GeoDog joined me for this one. I was quite well prepared equipment wise, but with the recentish rain, the entrance looked very different from the gallery. Took a few steps, realised it wasn't too deep and off we went. Did a countdown, but got to a likely location earlier than expected, and quickly found the cache.

A great experience!

While down in Sydney for work I try to grab a cache or two on the trip. I had been out to this one the last time I was down but didn't have a torch with me. This time I made sure I was prepared. What I wasn't prepared for was how creepy it was, by my self in the dark. After gaining access, which for a guy that is on the larger size was no easy feat I miss counted my steeps and ended up walking the whole way to the other end Sad (back into the dark again). This time I made sure to count my steeps correctly and managed to find it quickly. This was a great hide that pushed me out of my comfort zone. TFTC.

If you are going to cache on a day of extreme heat, this is the cache to do. Nice and cool inside the tunnel. Walked the entire length of the tunnel and realise I missed GZ, I wonder how that could be as I had both GPS and iPhone with me lol. Got back to the start and PAF and headed back to make the find. We needed a specific D/T to fill in the requirements for a challenge cache up near Newcastle, and this had the correct ones for us to complete our grid.
After a DNF earlier in the morning this was the next on the list, and what an awesome cache it was.
We parked the car and made our way up the path. Our first access had us retreating so we made our way down the path. I made my way to the hole, and assessed the situation. Having not brought supplies with me. I removed my shorts and just went in my boxers. I squeezed through the fence and started my way down the tunnel. Before long I was at the other end. Oops. I had made a count of how far I need to walk as I knew the GPS was not going to work, but I forgot to count. I estimated the distance back and began my search. After a short search the clever cache container was found, the log was signed and made my way back out.

Looking at the terrain and difficulty and views of the surrounds on google earth, I knew exactly what I'm in for attempting this cache. I prepared myself with the necessary items and took off for this cache. I was curious seeing if I could short cut this cache but it didn't seem possible. I knew what was needed and I had to man up and just go for it. Even for me, getting into the area was a bit tough but I got through without getting grubby. A few steps here, a few steps there and then I could see how this adventure is going to be. I reached GZ not long after and after a look around the area, it didn't take too long to spot the hide. After a squeeze and a tug and squeeze again, cache was in my hands. As I got this cache along, I signed the log quickly and returned the cache, as I was getting a bit spooked!! What was spooky was attempting to get out a different way!! It didnt work and made me go all the way back to the first way I go into the area.

An excellent adventure for this cache! A truly great cache to hunt down even being a bit spooked. Well Done. TFTC.

The first 2 attempts to get this cache I was alone and after getting inside I got spooked and realised that it's probably not the best idea of a female to do alone haha especially with trolls about Twisted

I decided to bring Redzen & IYIr Magic along with me for my next attempt, which was a lot of fun. Our feet were soaking and the whole thing was kind of spooky, we eventually kept going with no GPS (no reception) and found it fairly easy.

This was definitely a favourite of mine as I am a fan of challenge and adventure hehe Razz

ps. I don't know how this is when it hasn't been raining, but I suggest you bring spare shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

While I had never been to this part of Sydney before Cookie had, so we soon had found our way to where GZ would be, and then measured out where we would have to go.
Not too much water, but I imagine it could get a bit wetter in there a lot of the time.
Had seen a container like that at Cliff TP many years ago for a log book for the trig station.
With the bits of paper and ziploc bags jammed into it there wasn't much room to leave anything.
Hedge Hopper TB thru.
As Cookie said, NICE to get a different D/T rating cache. THANX The Oompas

0545 GAFF1 After a few 'attempts' at getting this one last year for a variety of reasons when coming down from Taree I finally worked out how to get in there, even in the dark, as the cyclone fence had put me off from trying to find a way closer.
This time had company, so was to be much more enjoyable.
Got kitted out with extra torches and canoeing wet shoes and made our way in to the 'depths', actually, shallows of the tunnel.
Interesting container. thought I would have been able to leave a Correct Site Marker in there, but the lid wouldn't shut, so just used it say I had been there! Wink

#1905

I realised a few weeks back that I was almost at 1900 finds, and it suddenly struck me that this one would be a suitable cache to find to mark my 1905th find. I started today on 1900 finds, and stopped for a few caches nearby on my way to this one.

I had company for my trip here, bikerbuddy had already found this one but came back with me today to help me celebrate my milestone find. And with his advice, we came dressed appropriately Smile.

At the spot the GPS indicated was GZ, I could see a small structure. Later, when we actually were at GZ, we viewed this structure from the other side. As we approached the entrance, we spotted a family, with smal kids dawdling in front of us. We had to linger until they were out of the way before making our way in. It was a tight squeeze, but we both made it through.

As we walked through, we spotted tea lights scattered at regular intervals just above the water level, then at GZ, found some abandoned bongs. This place is obviously frequently used Big Grin.

The cache took a bit of searching for (I had the right idea but the wrong spot originally), but eventually I found it. With all of the yucky water, I made sure to not drop any of the parts!

Thanks Oompas, this made a really fun cache to celebrate a minor milestone Smile. I might have to come back to this one with my children, I think they would enjoy it.

Hmm - I seem to be very much in the minority here, when I say I didn't have the best of experinces in making the find!

Parked round the bend at the end of Hyland Road (no works occuring today), and walked up the bike path to GZ. So far so good - great track and a really nice vista south. Came to GZ on the GPS and, knowing there was a 'subterranean' aspect to this, presume the entrance would be down the slope: this is where my trevails began.

After spying what I thought was the easiest way down off the bike-track, I took two steps and then somersaulted down over onto my back, as my foot failed to find solid ground on account of the uneveness of the terrain. I couldn't actually see terra firma, due to the wild nature of the weeds around here...much of it at least 2m tall, and thick up to knee height. Anyway, after wading up and down it became apparent that this wasn't the locale of the entrance, so I tried to get back up the slope to the bike-track. THis was not an easy exercise, and I got my legs slashed by swathes of Bramble / Blackberry bushes. TIP: If you're into harvesting berries, there's heaps here now, and very tasty!

On finally reaching the bike-path again, I licked my wounds , took stock, then continued along the bike-track a bit. It was then I spied something familiar! I found what amounted to no more than a cat-flap, squeezed through trying not to get too dirty, then assessed the iphone option for light, as I didn't have a torch with me today. Not confident. I was determined not to give up however, and after a few seconds I had a brain-wave! I had the iPad in my backpack, so I used it as an inpromptu torch! It was a bit creepy at first, navigating the passage and hearing the rats and frogs scuttle as you neared, but I got used to it and stuck to the sides as I progressed. I didn't notice the cache anywhere as I passed, and my gps wasn't working down here. I kept going and going, until I spied daylight again. I'd reached a similar entrance-way, only this one was completely barred up. I stuck my hand out through the bars with my iphone to get a signal, and it eventually told me I'd come 140m too far.

I therefore headed back into the tunnel, this time counting my paces as I went along. I reached a likely spot which roughly corresponded with 160 paces, and I began searching, using the iPad as a searchlight. No joy at first, until I spied something unusual and...there it was! A very cleverly constructed cache container and hide. I juglled between holding the cache, the log, my pen and the iPad for light, SL&R.

I then made my way back to the entrance, and exited once more into the daylight. It was very satisfying to conclude this adventure, and I will have the (physical & emotional!) scars to prove it for a wee while!
