July 2008

18th Found it red tag Our all night caching trip got off to a great start when we managed to find Geometry Big Grin
I have failed to find this several times in the past but tonight gspblu did a great job finding it.
The weather overnight was very comfortable and we walked in excess of 31kms, drank numerous coffees and managed to find 29 caches together before catching our flight back to Hobart.
Thanks maccamob the difficulty in finding this made the find just so much sweeter Big Grin

18th Found it gspblu 1st find on our Friday night out caching in Melb.
Red Tag was determined that we found this cache and given previous DNF's I was not too confident but as it turned out the actual find was not too difficult but due to all the muggle activity it was hard to be discrete retrieving the container and replacing it.
This find marked the start of 31+ km walked between caches over a time of a bit less than 10 hours. No transport was used and this time does not include time stopped for eating and drinking.
Thanks maccamob for a great cache.
15th Did not find it athompson One of two DNF's from my melbourne CBD trip today (the other was southbank). Will try again another time I visit.
12th Found it The Kettles Number five of ten for the night while wandering the Melbourne City streets while on holiday from SA. Not too many muggles around made the hunt a little easier with the Kettle Kids crawling all around GZ. Eventually Ma Kettle made her third find for the night.

Thanks for the cache Maccamob.
12th Did not find it Big Matt and Shell There was quite a few people around today and not wanting to be too obvious, I had a bit of a look but gave up in the end.

Thanks anyway.

June 2008

27th Did not find it Sol de lune One of 2 DNF's for my trip to Melbourne.

Looked and looked and looked, but came up empty handed each time.

Will be back in town sometime, so will try again.

Cheers,
8th Found it solomonfamily ~12:30 Kj Together with friends, we spent the day in the city at the "Game On" exhibition. A good day out. Thanks again maccamob, we have attempted this cache several time in the past. In: Listmaker GeoTag

May 2008

27th Did not find it DBMSP GPS was going mad with all the steel around. Spent a lot of time searching but it was pretty hard with all the Muggles around.
FSP with James.
22nd Did not find it infamous five Had a day in Melbourne after a business trip so combined a sight seeing tour with a few caches. With the hint this one sounded so easy. It wasn't. Lots of Muggles coming and going so not easy to do a full search in all the surrounding areas.
10th Found it dolly2cv6 Well we cheated a bit on this one and joined the group searching after the Flash mob event earlier! Thanks.
10th Found it Chati Found with dad and highrod and Kinkell1
10th Found it tangowithcupcake Wow, check out cache creep at its finest!! This little guy could not have moved further from its original spot: no wonder no-one could find it. It was great to catch up with David and Mary following WWFM III - it is always a joy doing one of their caches and reading their log notes on finds they make. Tangowithcupcake from WA salute you.
10th Found it pandpp I had tried this one at lunch one day about a year ago. NOT the time to try such a tricky one, especially not alone at least.

With a non dispersing FM crowd, this one was soon in hand today.

Satellite coverage was dodgy, but, with sheer numbers of eyes, who needs accuracy?

Thanks to the MaccaMob for another enjoyable cache.
10th Found it Dazza1 Wow, this cache took a pounding after the WWFM today, I was with a group that found this little beauty at 10.30. Nice to meet the cache owners too. My first in Melb. city.
TFTC Mary and David.
10th Found it Marcus Vitruvius Found at 1100. After attending the WWFM event nearby, walked over to GZ to find a few cachers (2big2little and the ref) already hard at work searching for the cache. Searched for about 5-10 mins before one of the members from 2big2l came up with the hide. Nicely hidden in a very muggle infested location.

Thanks to 2big2little and the ref for their assistance with this one. Nice to meet you all.

TFTC.
10th Found it LinearZZ Found this at 10:40 after the WW Flash MobCool. Had just put a hand to the container when David & Mary came over to change the log. Still room on the old one so signed off on that. David put it back where they had originally put it (talk about cache creepSurprised). TFTC
10th Found it Coffee and Cache After the WWFM III photo shoot, a few of us walked over to Geometry to have a crack at this tricky cache. We'd tried this once before and came up empty, but today, with half a dozen or so cachers searching and milling about it wasn't too difficult. Thanks maccamob.

10th Found it highrod First non event find for the day but eventful non the less,
thanks for the cache David and Mary. As a wise cacher once said "Dont know why its called geometry with all these bits of steele going in different directions" TFTF
10th Found it Ratbag14 Found at 10.25 with the mob after the Flash Event. Was great to search as a large team for this one :) Ta
10th Found it bigmutts1 found with a whole group of cachers after the flash mob event, thanks for the opportunity!

10th Found it listmaker The urbane looking fellow at GZ quietly continued smoking his cigarette while an increasingly large group paid an inordinate and unseemly amount of attention to a nearby structure. Then the Cache part of Coffee and Cache came up with the goods, to the delight of all. What a tricky hide that is, and I'm so pleased that we attempted it after the flash mob event, because I think the area would usually be a lot busier.

Thanks to maccamob.

10th Found it the ref What an interesting cache find this was. It was just after the caching event when I looked and saw a group signing the log book. Aaron, a fellow I met at the event was waving me over to sign, but i asked them to go ahead and rehide it and I would look for it when they were done. After that, I met the actual cache owner and he told me that he had put in a new log book. Okay, time to grab an Aussie cache. I gave a quick look about, when I see a man, women and child approaching. I figured it was time to move on before the police were called. After they had passed, I turned back to look and saw them looking around the same place. So I flashed my GPSr, and they gave me a affirmative nod that they are caching. Okay, back to hunting with 2big2little (nice to have met you) . After a bit of looking, we begrudgingly decided we should move on. As we were turning to leave, Marcus Vitruvius showed up (nice to meet you two as well) At that point, hang the muggles, we're going to get this cache. After searcing here, there, and everywhere, Mrs. 2 big2little nabbed the cache. We signed the log and talked for a bit then we were off on our seperate ways. It was a very well placed cache, and I trully enjoyed the company of my fellow cachers. Thanks for the great cache
10th Found it 2big2little Found in the company of "The Ref" and "Marcus Vitruvius". We waited a little while after the Flash Mob event and then thought we'd have a try for this one. On approaching we saw The Ref, who we recognised from his introduction at the meeting, walk away and we figured he had just found it! The rest, as they say, is history and is well captured in the Ref's log entry.
Thoroughly enjoyed the search and the chatting afterwards. Smile Thanks guys.

10th Found it Kinkell1 Like everyone else, found aftter the event with other goecachers, and maccamob. Thanks everyone...nice to meet you all!

April 2008

17th Did not find it red tag It's a DNF for red tag and I soooo wanted to find this cache after meeting the lovely maccamob(s) recently.
Now for the excuses...spread out around (or near) GZ were seriously at least 50 uniformed police. They were all from the Police Band that had just taken a break from playing on the stage under the big screen.
I had a quick look (again) but really felt like they were going to see me so Geometry remains my nemesis.
I will be back in a few weeks to try again!
TFTC maccamob
9th Found it Mystery Inc777 found.thanks for the cache.

March 2008

16th Enabled maccamob Mant thanks to The Morris for verifying that the cache is ok.
16th Found it The Morris Hadn't realised this one was offline when we found it in the middle of the CCC event.
The cafe nearby was very quiet and there was ample opportunity to locate it- unlike previous attempts.

It was there. TFTC

January 2008

27th Disabled maccamob Off-line pending a check.
26th Did not find it pwags Despite all of the unsuccessful attempts over the past few months, we thought we'd give this one a go. No luck, even when following your instructions in the hint. I'll try again late at night in the dark sometime soon, but I'm beginning to wonder... but then again, it is rated as very difficult, so maybe it is there? I'll be back!

December 2007

26th Did not find it waltervp We certainly gave it our 110%. We are sure welooked in the right spot in our humble opinion... Nice day, Boxing Day, sun shining and not too many mugles. Ah well...
16th Did not find it rediguana Yep - with three pairs of eyes we still weren't able to find this cache. Thought we'd looked in a number of likely locations. In the end decided to move on to more viable caches. Cheers Gav
16th Did not find it KiwiLegend There were several places that sort-of matched the description - the less obvious ones were worse than others for gum, dirt, and used butts. The best we did was find white velcro.
4th Did not find it cwren Lying on your back in a public place is not too noticeable if you have a camera.... despite this, and spending at least 15 minutes touching the geometric object in question, we came up empty handed.

November 2007

25th Did not find it supermann44 Thought this would be nice and easy. I was out for a quick find but .... even after 20 min of intensive search, I still could not locate the cache. I wish more luck to others!
12th Did not find it iluvtrekking We looked as best we could. With no notes or further information we didn't want to be too noticable and had to give up the search(is lying on your back in a very public place too noticable, I wonder???) Thanx for the fun.
12th Did not find it The Silver Snitch Tried on the 11th and back again on the 12th with little but expert geo tot! (Who can find ...and get away with anything in public!) Well we spent and hour as we awaited the FED CAM but empty handed.. oh well!! Hope your seeking is muggle free! Great spot though thanks for brining us here.

October 2007

29th Found it Smokeydd Came from WA on holidays for a week and thought we would find a few caches while doing the tourist thing.

This was a great spot and a great cache.

t4th
6th Found it Tealby This cache had previously caused the B Team some angst, so we took the opportunity for a joint approach today & it worked a treat. Signed the (very long) log & replaced the cache without (hopefully) arousing too much suspicion. Good to finally get this one crossed off the unfound list. TFTC.

September 2007

27th Found it Geo_Stik I was working here tonight for the Grand Final show, found after some searching, but I forgot a pen. Planned to return later that night but got too busy. will have to sign the log on my next trip over.
23rd Found it chet&jane Had time to spare while waiting for our tram.
Wandered over to the geometry puzzle. Many muggles watching early preparations for the Rules Final on Saturday.
Euclid accomplish this task too with a stretch, but not too long. Thanks maccamob for the interesting micro twist.

23rd Did not find it {S@S}Morgan We didn't find the cache, great to see other cachers looking for it. We spent 3 days looking for it lol, but still didn't find it.
23rd Found it roundcircle I tried for this a couple of times during the week, but too many muggles for me, and no kids or accomplices to help with a reason to being doing odd things. Dropped by on Sunday morning. There was plenty of activity, but none just at the spot. So I was able to do a better search, and the cache was soon found.

It was then I realised I didn't have a pen, so I couldn't sign the log. (Dooh). The log sheet is about 1/3 full on the back.

TFTC.
23rd Did not find it drewhome Second attempt but no luck. Was great to see other cachers going about the same quest. This one has us a little stumped.
9th Found it ggkof Found @ 7:15. Thought early on a Sunday morning would be a good time for this one and also Fedcam while the place would most likely be empty of muggles, and it was. Never the less it took me a while to find as GPS wasn't so good near GZ area. No luck with Fedcam though. Appears not to be working at the moment.
Thanks.
7th Found it Cache On Demand Found this one on my second attempt. Very clever hide in a lovely location. Had a small search the first time as there were too many muggles.

Many thanks Maccamob

7th Did not find it steeba Tried somewhat in vain to have a go at this one- there were muggles everywhere so after a quick look or two in a couple of spots moved on.
6th Did not find it Zork V Second attempt to find this one but still no luck, perhaps the owner could do a check on this one.

4th Found it TeamJEKL After much scrambling, backtracking and signal confusion for the GPS we finally found this with the help of some little fingers (geomunchkin D).

20th Found it 124fiatbuff Our second cache on a quick Melbourne trip. We found this one quite quickly but needed a geojunior to extract it!!!! It is amazing what kids can get away with! TFTC

June 2007

10th Found it The Barramundi's Our 11th Vic cache find on our way to 500, and Barra 3's 17th Birthday.

A bit easier to look for it at 12.30 AM on a Sunday morning, only a few muggles around. Mrs Barra came up trumps again.

We have a busy day ahead of us, we need to find 18 more today before we leave at 6 am on Monday morning.

Including the end of a multi from SA to Vic "A River Somewhere" GC53F9 for out 500th cache

Cheers from The Barramundi's
7th Found it lat&long junkie Walked over from the big screen for this one. Easy find but a difficult grab. Mrs Lat&Long kept a look-out while I retrieved the cache. TN/LN/SL. Still plenty of space on the back of the log sheet.
7th Found it Mrs Lat&Long Junkie Visiting Melbourne for the long weekend. Found with Geo-husband while dodging the muggles and nearby film crews. Eevry child in Melbourne must have been in town on a field trip today. SL TFTC.

27th Found it Geodes Found by Bob at 1325

About time I did this one! I did have a go at it 18 months ago, but it was at the end of a long day day and, after parking on the footpath in Flinders St, I spent more than half an hour messing around underneath before "discovering" that the buildings didn't occupy the whole square and that there was an open space at the top in the middle - I guess I don't get out much SadSadSad (I even thought the large screen TV inside was the screen used for the FedCam cache !!!). I only spent about 10 mins looking once I found GZ so wasn't too disappointed not to find it. No such problems today - and I had the cache within 10 seconds of arriving at GZ, so I can finally lay the last of the physical caches in the CBD to rest Big Grin (I just hate going into the CBD!!!)

Thanks maccamob - a great hide and considerable longevity too!
19th Did not find it Coffee and Cache Difficult due to the many muggles. I thought I had the right idea and checked out three possible locations that fitted the clues, but no cigar.
Thanks maccamob

19th Noted setsujoku came back here just to re-visit fed square. way too many muggles around today to retreive the cache again, but got a visual on it

area has changed a bit since i originally found the cache, and i reckon its harder to do now.

thought i was a chance of seeing britney spears wondering around with all the festivities on in the square today
13th Found it purpleaimee Thought this one was going to be impossible to find. However on our second attempt at looking at all the hidey holes - we found it.
13th Found it sarahlouu13 Thought this one was going to be impossible to find. However on our second attempt at looking at all the hidey holes - we found it. Luckily, purpleaimee as little arms so could reach it easier than me.
Great cache!!!

April 2007

27th Found it WazzaAndWenches Found after a nice coffee nearby.
This one has suffered a tiny bit of cache creep, but is now back to where BackPAQer thinks it was originally placed.
25th Found it el golco Found on 2nd attempt and after only 1 glass of wine at nearby establishment and on 2nd last day of holiday from Hobart to Port Lincoln and return.
Lots of muggles around due to Anzac Day and football but all too occupied to notice!
TNLN TFTC
22nd Found it Nikki606 Found after a bit of trouble. It was quite tricky due to the number of muggles. There is only so many times you can pretend to do your shoe laces up!

Thanks for the cache
21st Noted ruzzelz Started to look but the heavens openned up which should have been a good cover but this Sunshine Staters had no cover to keep him dry.
18th Found it The Spindoctors Gotya! This was my third attempt, and many times more that I've passed by this cache.

The clincher for me this time was being there on a Wednesday night at 11.30 pm. I'd been a function at the old obervatory in the Gardens and was 'staggering' back to my hotel in the city. A quick call to Supernay helped me think about it some more.

Anyway, I've now completed my nemesis cache and thank Maccamob for the challenge. Now to find Oh Darling in Sydney.

March 2007

29th Found it Pharaohs I needed BobTheBuilder to help solve this one. We appeared to be in the Twilight Zone with the GPS going haywire amongst the metal fortress otherwise known as Fed Square. Tricky spot - lots of hunting to get this one. The clues are present if you read the whole cache information from top to bottom ;-)
29th Found it bobthebuilder_123 Found with the help of Pharaohs. For some reason the GPS was jumping all around the place so we looked for 5-10 minutes until we finally went back to basics.
4th Found it TimeTeam Finding GZ was easy, finding the cache not so. scouring high & low, whilst we worked with gr8 stealth, junior member was rewarded with his persistance. GR8 hide Maccamob. TFTC SL.
4th Found it kinglee Count #0055 found at 1930hrs.

With the lantern celebration going on the stage causing a good distractions for all, we went to pick this one up. I had search that spot on 3 past occasions but this time the cache was there!

20th Found it Team Rubik I had to ring for a hint to find this one. At various times my GPS directed me to several locations in the court yard and I only had the first line of the clue! With the rest of the clue explained it was enough to locate the cache. I can also recommend the exhibition at the ACMI building, it's a fantastic look at optical illusions. Many ideas for puzzle caches came as a result of the visit.

Thanks Maccamob,

7th Found it GeoSavages Geogirl can add this one to her list of finds. She spotted this one after we were all searching in the wrong spot. TNLN

December 2006

27th Found it feathertop Finally, finally I get to put this one to bed. Must be my 4th or 5th visit to this heavily muggled area. Toady I used some logic and reasoning and widened my search and viola there it was. Had to borrow a pen from nearby bistro to log.
Replaced 6.30pm
26th Found it Rhinogeo FINALLY found on 26/12/06 @ 1850 AEDT Cool. After a big day at the cricket witnessing Shane Warne take his 700-704th wickets Smile Facitman and I strolled up to Fed Square for another attempt to find this most troublesome cache Wink. 26th Did not find it Bobo and Jojo Bah Humbug.
26th Found it Facitman Found by Facitman at 18:50

After spending the day at the Boxing Day Test, and slipping out a few times to find local caches Big Grin, I suggested to Rhinogeo that we have another crack at Geometry. This was for me, like many other cachers, a bit of a nemesis cache having visited GZ on many occasions. Each time there would be reason to fail, people at GZ, the guard seated in the window near GZ, my inability to find the cache Big Grin.
Arrived at GZ today we thankfully found it quiet with those in Fed Square focused on the big screen. After a bit of a search I had the cache in hand. At last...Woohoo...sigh Smile

6th Found it The WereRabbits Have tried this one before without success. This time the area was clear and I located it surprisingly easily. Glad to get this one ticked off. Thanks!
3rd Did not find it WombatWarriors3 3/12/2006 searched area even got assistance from owner who confirmed we were in the right area, however the muggle traffic was huge - will have to wait to attack another day (and perhaps better time like really early in the morning)

22nd Found it BackPAQer Yeah...I don't think I could have got this one without the hint. Muggles are a nightmare, you never know where the security cameras are pointing, and even when I had a very good idea where it was...I still had trouble finding it. I think I've had 4 or 5 attempts at this...never got approached by a security guard as some people reported. So glad to get this one off my radar! Now, if they would just switch that Fedcam back on....
Thanks Maccamob!
19th Found it rippunzel Hooray - tried and tried over the last few trips to Melb. to nab this one, but there's alway too many prying eyes about. Made an early morning dash on my U2/caching in between shopping trip and this time not a soul to be seen . . Nice hide . . . thanks

18th Did not find it Molokov Attempted this one after Wanderas 1 had left... GZ appeared to be inside one of the buildings, which was prob due to poor sat lock and the oncoming rain... Tried to search around probable locations but thought I was getting odd looks from nearby security guards, so I gave up. Had the icecream anyway :) Yum.

28th Found it the farmers 5 Had several cracks at this one and on a Monday afternoon around 4.00pm with the crowds down a bit decided to try again. After cut and grazed hands the first time around,i moved a bit easier today ,searching,peeking,here-there when finally spotted the suitably coloured stash in its great hide location.Moved away to pen the paperwork, did a quick re-hide and escaped quickly from the scene. Many thanks to Maccamob for the "fed " experience and for a cache hide that obviously tricks many .!

28th Did not find it tristi_woerz Daig & T looked for this one. Daig's been here before with no luck. Spent a fair bit of time scrubbing around on hands and knees looking. It's amazing where your head will fit. Lucky there was no one around. Daig said he'd just say T was drunk if anyone asked.
Even though it was puzzling and we hate logging a dnf - still don't know whether it's worth going back again. Hint?
26th Did not find it pablothecat Spent over 1/2 hr looking with no luck Sad In these days of being alert but not alarmed it's a wonder I was not questioned! Hope to return and try again sometime.
13th Found it Anominous Sign Found at 8:25pm. Took me about 4 tries to find this one. Very sneaky hide and enjoyable challenge!

Just as I replaced it and thought I was in the clear, a security guard surprised me and asked what I was doing Surprised. I told him I was writing notes and showed him the PDA I had in my hand. English wasn't his first language, so I'm not sure how he took that but he didn't seem interested in asking me anything further so I left.

I went back the following morning to check on the cache to make sure it was still in place but the number of people around prevented me and I was leaving town that day so I couldn't verify it. Hopefully it's still in place, but it might need to be checked on. I'm so sorry if it's been taken Twisted. Time for me to walk the hall of shame.

11th Found it Tankengine Took 2 attempts to find this one. The early in the morning attempt failed - even thought there was light, I didn't find it, and there were already too many people. My second attempt was a night assault. Still one or two people about, but not too close by. Found eventually - coordinates spot on. Another great Maccamob cache. Thanks again. (TNLN) P.S. Log sheet needs replacing - it's starting to fall apart!

March 2006

15th Did not find it jonnytuna after 2 attempts I have to admit defeat :-(

February 2006

28th Enabled maccamob Thanks to JMCz for the good news.
28th Found it JMCz Found this early today while visiting from USA. Glad we were here very early because mugglers must abound later in the day. The cache is fine, nice camo job. No need to check to verify it is really there. TFTC.
27th Disabled maccamob Off-line until we can check.
26th Did not find it linacre mob We had a good look for this today at 12.30pm. As we had located this before and we were in the area, we thought we should take a look...

Pretty certain it has gone...

Cheers all
24th Did not find it Alansee I am very confident that I was actually in the correct place given everything, however am concerned that certain cables coming from a certain place in relation to official activities may mean trouble for this cache!

12th Did not find it xf king Hmm still cant find it.. Oh well, next time I come back...

[This entry was edited by xf king on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 2:39:15 PM.]
6th Did not find it xf king Tried to locate, but this one has eluded me, I read the cache page and i have done another cache that had on the bottom (similar to geometry in Melbourne) so I kind of knew that this would be a sneaky hide. But after a long hard search and coming back to the site 3 times because of smokers, decrpyting the clue still had me asking,, "where"?? as I was searching in that very spot.

Also I wonder why the team that last found the cache said it was a difficult cache to retrieve as there was not much activitiy on the day. I hope the cache has not crept to a place which is hard to get to.

Anyways, Thanks taking me here, as I toured some of the local galleries after this, as I had nothing to go on with and had to wait for a friend to get to flinders st later in the arvo.

M.B
2nd Did not find it Geodes At the end of a very wearying day in the CBD (I avoid the CBD like the plage as a rule Smile) I don't think I tried as hard as I could/should/would have if I'd been fresher. I did poke around for 5-10mins after I eventually sorted out where GZ was (I've never been to Fed square before), but no joy. At least I'll know where to start next time.

Thanks maccamob

December 2005

30th Found it albida33 Found with Team Langy. TNLN. Albida
30th Found it TeamLangy Post Test Match Caching @ 1455
Its amazing what people will ignore! Not much activity at this end of the 'plaza' thankfully. Retrieved with some difficulty.
TNLN

November 2005

30th Found it Bigmickb I think I logged this as a DNF almost 12 months ago during my first caching trip to Melbourne. Knocked it off finally tonight with the assistance of Partic and Sam who took great delight watching me squirm to retrieve the cache. She also got some great photos of above mentioned squirming which can't be posted as they'd be spoilers. Thanks Maccamob!
13th Found it linacre mob Great place to hide a cache, and it helps to have kids running amuck especially on a beautiful Sunday arvo at 2.10pm ... lots of muggles but doable.
logged TNLN
Thanks guys... the kids love it and are quite cunning...
6th Found it chewinprickles We found it too!!!! After many many many previous failed attempts I finally have this one crossed of the list. Plenty of muggles around but with two of us here and everyone more intent on things happening elsewhere it ended up being reasonably easy. 7.34pm was the time we were on site. Didn't see Thyla and Thylo though.
Many thanks indeed Maccamob for this challenge. I dont think I've done too many of yours lately. Haven't been idle though. Getting the tally up a bit!!
6th Found it oenze Found at 7:34pm Accompanied by Chewinprickles.
The Last cache of 12 for the Day.
No Swaps, Signed Log
Thanks Maccamob...Big Grin
6th Found it Thyla and Thylo For weeks now we have had a good idea of the location of this cache. But the Muggle activity in the spot just never seems to die offTwisted We have even attempted this one while at work nearby, early in the morning, but even at 630am there is people around.

While normal people would be asleep by now we were out getting these harder caches, with summer coming up, we reckon this spot will almost become impossible.
Found at 135am, still plently of muggle activity.
TNLNSL
Thanks for the extreme challenge of this one. Thyla has been obsessing over this, might be able to concentrate when she is working nearby now on work and not that tricky cache.

Thanks for keeping us challenged for so long.
Thyla and Thylo Big Grin

October 2005

28th Found it Spruce Mooses YAY!! we got it! After a romantic walk along the river at night and several beers with mates we decided to scope out the area. Alive with people even at 10.30 at night but not one of them watching as an inebriated Adam found in about 3 seconds. Signed an replaced with ease. Thanks Maccamob, we've been hanging to get this one for ages! We cheered all the way home.
27th Did not find it The WereRabbits Went there several times - lots of activity which made it difficult to look hard (Melbourne Cup build up and Melbourne Fashion week). So it eluded me, but I will be back.

7th Found it acts2youthgroup Cache fifty four of seventy seven for the day: in what we called The Big Assault eighteen hours of none stop caching.
Finally I get this cache of my list, the place was deserted and the cache was soon found and replaced undetected.
Thanks Maccamob.

September 2005

17th Found it navescapes we teamed with half of 2dudes on our introduction to geocaching we wern't going home until i found it verry tricky spot
17th Found it 2Dudez Jase found this one on the way to the Motorbike Exhibition with the Geo-parents. Dean & I had previously attempted this cache on another melbourne geocaching trip without any luck......Great to finally tick this one off the list :)
Thanks to Geo-Dad for his persistance with finding this one
13th Noted -e^ip Went GeoCaching with a friend from school and helped him find this one.

Took Quantas Pin, Left Star.
9th Did not find it Sc00t Our first day in Melbourne and we stumbled across Federation Square, got the GPS out to see what was around, spent some time at GZ but it was a Friday afternoon and didn't want to draw to much attention to the 2 tourists standing in an odd spot, considering there was a fashion show on about 50m away.

August 2005

29th Did not find it Lost_Bear After a couple of visits we decided to give up and maybe look next time we are in town. Plenty of muggles around, and also a popular place to park bikes!
27th Found it GeoJo Attempted this one in last year at night without success. This time I returned in daylight and was able to spot the container after searching for a couple of minutes. My non-caching friend couldn't believe what I was willing to do to log a find! Once again, having a pram in the group proved great camouflage! Glad to finally cross this one off my list!
18th Did not find it BibraBoys We will have one more go before we leave Melb - didnt have clue with us.
13th Found it FSU*Noles Second of a handful of caches this morning, wandering around Melbourne before work - 7:30am on a Saturday is definitely the best time to visit here, nobody but a couple of tourists and two maintenance men here today...this one will definitely be impossible to grab with people around, I'm glad we came when we did! We started searching the obvious location, and my non-geocaching friend scored the find in short order. Retrieving it, however, proved to be more difficult - but a little persistence and the cache was ours. TNLN, signed the log, and put it back safely for the next finder - very nice urban hide, TFTC!
7th Found it Geof Found with -e^ip & a group of Jrs. Actualy -e^ip found it. After searching for about 5 min I heard a voice saying have you found it yet. It was -e^ip. This was our very convenient place we had chosen to meet before returning home. We continued with about another five extra helping hands and a whole bunch of decoys standing around. A anti war demonstration had just ended and an anti nuclear event was underway at the stage with a indiginus man telling of the genetic damage that the atomic tests had done to his people. -e^ip said I'v got it and removed something I had taken to be part of the building beforeCool and we logged the cache. I can't believe I missed it last time(s) as I had been looking straight at it many timesBig Grin.

TNLNSL

Thanks Maccamob
7th Did not find it Rhinogeo DNF on 07/08/05 around 1600-1630 AEST. There was quite a large crowd of muggles in Fed Square today when Facitman, Malby the Geohound and I arrived, but their attention was diverted elsewhere and we were able to conduct an extensive search, but with no satisfactory result Sad. Another day.....
7th Found it -e^ip Found at 15:00. This one was fun to find as it was in a sily place. The last time I was here I couldn't find it but with the aid of Geof it was found. Sadly I TNLN.
6th Did not find it 2Dudez No luck on this one,
We searched high, but especially low and came up with nothing.
Did the nearby one though

July 2005

31st Did not find it ben777 Another city cache that is sending me spare. In my 5 or more visits since it was placed I've given up caring who sees me crawling around searching for this one, no one really cares. It's good to see that the rubbish bins have been removed though, hopefully the smokers who congregate here have gone away too.
23rd Did not find it voogoofish No luck here, mainly cause of security and looking incredibly suss after the london bombings! decided to do everyone a favour and leave this alone after 3 minutes of searching.
21st Did not find it chewinprickles Had my second quick look for this one this afternoon and as usual found it very difficult to not appear suspicious while caching on my own. I thought I'd log this visit because the reference to smokers no longer applies ie taken away, so I hope that wasn't where the cache was. Could you please let me know if that is the case.

8th Noted Geof Had another real quick look. Given events overseas I didn't stay to long. Think I need to polish 7 bells out of my bootsWink. Took a look in the ACMI http://www.acmi.net.au/ never been in before because I thought it was a big $ item but it's free... RECOMENDED

I'll get it yet.
Thanks Maccamob

June 2005

26th Found it gstring Nice one , found 26.6.05 14.00 hrs ,in town with a troop of scouts, so we a spare half hour and thought give it a go , and "yes" after lying down on the job it was found .....

took nothing,left 10c piece
thanks Maccamob.
16th Found it CRAL This one took so many visits in trying to find a muggle free time. Finally got it.
Thanks maccamob
4th Found it Alsume Found at 8:30am when we finally found some muggle-free time at Fed Square! Earlier attempts had all been aborted due to overcrowding. A very well camouflaged cache off our list at last. This was our 300th cache!!!

TNLNSL thanks maccamob for another good one.

May 2005

30th Found it Robmc I had not gone to the Geometry site before, it is interesting to sit and have a good look at it (while waiting for all the muggles to stop coming out of the doorway). Not sure if I like the design, but I do like the astronomical horse across the courtyard.
TNLNSL
Thanks, Robmc.
22nd Found it energizer61 Finally found this one, it's taken 3 visits from tassie & a search each time, but we found it, eventually. this trip we are just passing through on our way home, so had no time for any other caches, but I wanted to get my Victorian Nemesis before heading home Smile

nice hide maccamob, still lots of people about, but suprisingly its easy to be inconspicuous in large crowds now for some reason..

thanks for a great one maaccamob.

21st Found it teamtricky Found with EdwardsClan

Piece of cake when you have young ones in tow - they can crawl about everywhere and don't look out of place playing with walkie talkies or scrabbling under structures... Great cache! T: jewel L: tattoos
21st Found it EdwardsClan Found at 15:06 in the company of Team Tricky. Jolly glad we had Natalia with us to retrieve and replace the cache. It's real hard to be subtle with this one - especially with arms the size of mine - and with a film crew only metres away!
4th Found it roolku 9:50 After several more attempts I finally got it. The cache was rather further away from where I thought it would be and not easy to reach. So glad I found it - and on my last day in Melbourne as well.

April 2005

29th Found it nations this was tough!! got lost going in2 the building.. Red Face

decided general area (from hint), except that security guard came by Sad friendly guy, but i had other caches 2 do.. surprise my shoe-laces had not knotted up by then 2! the numerous times i tied, untied & re-tied! Wink

came back later..no one! Smile
adamant 2 find it, i stuck me head under the whole length... & spotted it! WHEW! another MASTERPIECE maccamob! [^] better than figurehead! less obvious.. Wink

again, took photos... replaced it with PRIDE Smile
log sheet was full, so wrote on back page... took magnet, left.. Hungry Jack's vouchers (again!?) Razz
28th Did not find it Team Unicycle Gave up at about midday. We had the place to ourselves at first, but didn't realise the significance. Then a couple of smokers came along. We made like we were waiting for someone. Waiting. Yep she's putting it out. Move closer - oh no, she's lighting another! Then someone else came along. Then, every time we went to look, another schoolkid came up with their lunch rubbish. Thanks maccas. We'll have to save this for another trip to Vic.
27th Found it tbn97 This was our second visit to this cache, the first being called short due to excessive muggle infestation being detected after we successfully located this extremely well camoflaged micro. This time, after successfully blending in with the smokers for a while, we saw our chance and grabbed the cache... With Miss Maree standing by as look-out, managed to saunter away with it, do our swap&sign, then replace the beasty without any muggles being any the wiser. What sport!

Took - rhinestone
Left - bobby clip
SL

Thanks Macca for yet another ingenious and very enjoyable urban cache!
27th Did not find it roolku Too many angles, niches and other hiding places. I was lying under the structure so I could have a really good look, when I was disturbed by a drinking smoker (or smoking drinker?). I retreated.

March 2005

28th Found it setsujoku 24/3/05
Searched for good 30 mins,at first in the wrong spot.no luck... Returned the following day with my step sister, neither of us had any luck again.
Found 28/3/05 14:15. walked straight up to it. Nearby photographer was distracted when retrieving and replacing the cache.
TNLNSL

27th Found it Paezinapodh Found by P & D after a great deal of kerfuffling about trying to avoid the watchful eyes of muggles. TNLN.
23rd Noted mtbikeroz Passing through Melbourne - showing some relatives the low down on geocaching - found figurehead OK, but couldn't find this one.
I previously found it last year, but it seems to be missing unless someone has replaced it in an even more difficult spot, that I cannot see from the lowdown.
16th Found it EuDes A late evening caching excursion with SSMC4 had us in town for, hopefully, a couple of final late "gets". I had tried for this one twice before but the muggleisation factor was too high. This time there were few people around but the cache still didn't present itself.

We retired to try for the nearby newie after which a "one last look" before going home actually had the cache in hand at 23:50 Woooo, hoooo Big Grin. Fourth time lucky, I guess.

TNLNSL. Thanks for an unbelievably frustrating one maccamob.

[This entry was edited by EuDes on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 8:19:32 PM.]
16th Found it ssmc4 Target #6 on what turned out to be a 6-cache night-time expedition with EuDes. A second attempt after "BT I - Under the Clocks" saw EuDes with the cache in hand and a big smile on his clock! I can understand the difficulty rating on this one - well done and thanks maccamob.

February 2005

26th Found it chefs on the run Found this one at 6.50, it was well hidden, but it did not help that somebody had there bike chained up to the GZ, just had to work around it.

Thanks Maccamob
23rd Found it Dr Klig A furtive visit at lunchtime, with surprisingly few interested muggles.
T: Something that I have forgotten
L: Tassie fridge magnet
15th Noted richary Decided to log in a TB I brought from Adelaide. Unluckily the 2 caches I visited big enough to place were unlucky, one was offline being upsized and the other had muggles parked on it. But it might as well rack up the miles as it was in my pocket when I visited the cache.
15th Found it richary An interesting spot, my first visit to the well talked about Federation Square. Not much happening tonight, fairly quiet about 6:30pm. Found after a short search, after filling out the log had to wait for a couple of visiting Japanese muggles to move away from the ashtray before I could replace. TNLNSL. Thanks Maccamob.
14th Did not find it energizer61 we had another look around for this one before heading home, no luck again ... maybe next time Smile .... thanks again though maccamob, it never ceases to amaze me how an architect's mind works Wink .... sorry to any geo-architects that may be reading .....
9th Did not find it energizer61 we tried, no luck .... too many people here in the middle of the day for a good look, so we will try again at a less conspicuous time ....

thanks for bringing us here maccamob, we will try to squeeze in an after hours visit to here again for this one.
6th Did not find it acts2youthgroup i gave it a good try but with about a thousand muggles about had to give it away. looks like another maccamob cache to haunt me.

thanks

January 2005

6th Found it Partic 9:10am | TN LN SL
At last! After several attempts over the past month, I've finally gotten low enough to find the cache!

Thanks to Rabbitto for putting my mind at ease that I was on the right track!
6th Did not find it dajjct Had a quick look for this one, but didn't have enough time to have a realy good look as we heading to a show near "Yes, but is it art II?". After reading the log posted for this morning, which I hadn't seen prior to the visit, may have just given us a clue to help us the next time.

David & Allison
4th Found it Slider & Smurf We were in the vicinity for lunch and a combined assault on FedCam, so when the coast was clear we shot over to nab this one ... took a bit of scratching around and reaching, but found it in the end. TNLNSL - thanks Maccamob!

December 2004

31st Found it Rabbitto Found at 1:00pm. We had a go at 11:30pm but could not find so we triangled off to two other caches and had success on the way back to the car. Note: The stealth required in finding this cache is similar to the stealth you would need in baring your behind in Bourke St without being spotted. Still, we managed it, so if we can pull that off, which way to Bourke St Big Grin.

Thanks Maccamob from D & H B-A. Took Nothing, Left Nothing.
30th Noted The Spindoctors City micros in Melbourne are my weakness. Second attempt at this one, but after five minutes of 'hassle-free' searching, no find. Grrrr. I may need a hint from maccamob - unless they wish to see me tortured Twisted.
28th Did not find it Partic I know it must be only a stone's throw from where I've looked now twice... I'm either not looking low enough, or am looking on the wrong object. Can Someone give me that extra little hint???
25th Did not find it javamama Tried looking for this one, but with no luck. Searched as much as we could, but lots of people were wandering around this spot on Christmas day. Couldn't really do a very good search in such an exposed location.
12th Found it pprass We knew where it was from the clues in the cache notes, but still could not spot it. A call to maccamob to confirm that we were in the right area and within 5 seconds had it in our hands at 4.15pm. The log sheet is very wet which is quite odd considering where it is placed. Thanks maccamob for a great hide. tn/ln
3rd Found it terrortorian Whilst waiting for the nearby cafe to open (where can you get a feed before 0730 in this town). I took the opportunity to show our latedt guest what this geocaching is about. Should have attempted this the other day but did not have the GPSr on to check for nearby caches. Today being so early it was quiet enough to get a thorough look at the area. The cache was easily found and the notebook was notated. Just as we were heading to the cafe the fed cam came on but today we had no camera so no extra piccies.

November 2004

30th Noted reverb Waiting for Fed SQ nearby- stopped for a look but couldn't get near the place - too many smokers and people sheltering from the Drizzle...
7th Noted maccamob Geometry is now back in shape and equipped with a new log sheet.
5th Did not find it ben777 No wonder I couldn't find it! I thought that since I'd gone to the effort of finding the nearby FedCam I'd take another shot at Geometry. I've had a couple of shorter searches for this one, but it's always been too busy to do anything that looks too suspicious. The weather today was perfect for keeping people away from the area so I went for it. I spent a good 30 minutes crawling around for this one to no avail. I got a few odd looks from some of the nicotine addicts who shelter here. (Not really a good location for a cache for those of us who are disgusted by cigarette stench!)

October 2004

31st Noted maccamob Cache recovered for log replacement. Will reactivate in a day or so.
31st Found it Blaze_au Found at 14:00hrs with Geokids in tow.

While waiting for the big screen to fire up I sat down and quickly found the cache. Easy find Smile

The log was full as... I think I probably got the last entry in.
8th Did not find it Geof Spent over an hour in two goes looking / fealing but obviously not in the right place. Mr security was hanging around on first visit so tryed to play it cool then went and did Quosimodos dream v2.0 and then had another go. Didn't have the clue on hand but I did do a bit of passive smokingTwisted.
Another time may be.... The 4 rating is obviously accurate.
Did get the nearby Fed Cam if I can get it scanned and it comes outSmile

Thanks Maccamob

September 2004

28th Found it Rav 4 Raiders Third attempt at this cache. In town for a conference and visited late Sunday evening with no luck. Decided to get up at the crack of dawn and trundle around the fog bound CBD looking for caches making this my starting point. A spot of daylight here makes all the difference. No interuptions also helps! TNLNSL Cheers, Rav4Raiders
26th Did not find it Style Camper Visited the site, but as per other visitors, to many people around & we started to get some weired looks. May have to try another day

Style Camper
11th Found it
