I went check on this cache and confirmed it is no longer there. I was intending to replace it but have decided due the sensitive nature of where it is placed, to archive it. There are already signs of damage to the bush from people going for the view.

There was no access to the cache site. The location is pretty interesting, but surrounded by both thick and sensitive bush. And ParksVic asks hikers to stay at the tracks and not to damage the plants. (Actually I would suggest to find a hide-out, which does not include any bush crossings at one of the the most popular spots of Wilson Prom ...)

No luck for me either on this one, went out after dinner for the walk but came up empty handed. Spent abotu 30 minutes searching to no avail. Mabye next time...

After a 30 minute hike and a 30 minute search, I came up empty handed on this one. A real pity as I had a geocoin looking for a visit to a National Park.

The view was well worth the hike though, so thanks for bringing me out here anyway after a morning of playing on the beach with the kids.

Saw a seal frolicking in the water on our way up to find this cache. Wookus carried Ladybug and The Bug stayed back on the flat to craft a city out of sand. Juan made the find. In: smiley badge. Out: smiley spinning top.

This was the first cache found during a few days at the Prom and the weather was a great mix sun, cloud and heaps of wind. The cache was found by Stickler and myself after a short search.

Completed the log and replaced the cache and then it was south towards the Meg for an overnight stop.

A nice easy walk, got a bit of sun too! Burn means Tan tey say Holy crap it was windy up there! Though there's a nice hidey hole we sheltered in while signing the log. We took the Canada stickers and left a compass.

Beautiful walk today after the amazing storm we endured in our tent last night.....the sun was out and the wind was in full force at the cache site. Found a nice shelter to fill in the log, took the Canada stickers and left the compass.

Paid another visit on Tuesday in the company of my wife Pam and Trish (Madam Dash from the GeoDashing Hall of Fame). The cache has transformed from a glass jar to a tupperware container I see. Good to see the plants are coming back after the fire damage. Some of them still have a weedy appearance, but the ti tree and eucalyptus are growing well, and the grass trees love a good smoky fire.

Angola with me but didn’t climb the rocks. I was nowhere near the 41 deg forecast for Melbourne today. Nice in the shade & cool breeze while Angola waited in the sun.

Found @ 11:00. Came down to Wilson's Prom on our rest day while riding on the Great Vic Bike Ride and finished up doing a 12km walk instead. No saddle bum today. perfect weather with warm temperatures and clear skys. Great views and water as blue as it comes. Found cache after a short scramble. TNLNSL Thanks.

No stash note.
We were passing by with a new caching team - xambo4u, and decided to see if we could find the cache even though we didn't have a GPS with us as we recalled where we found it 2 years ago. However as we approached GZ we spotted the new container in a completely different spot. (much better container and spot btw) It turned out that a group of muggles had stumbled on the cache, read the logs, added their lengthy log, made a swap - didn't know what it was all about (no stash note)and then didn't completely cover the container - luckily for us! Once again great views - which are much more accessible after the fires.

Hmmm - travelled 1200km by car, walked for 40km and all I got was a DNF! Seriously, this was at the very end of a hike from Telegraph Saddle to the Lighthouse and then back to Tidal River.

Arrived at GZ, but as soon as I started searching, the wind and rain hit with full force. The rocks became slippery and I found it hard to stand up in the gale. It's a great area and hopefully I'll return some day.

Found on our way into an overnight camp at Little Oberon.
Unfortunately we dropped the glass cache and broke it on a rock. Have replaced it with a plastic tupperware container, donated by one of our group after he emptied his food from it. (We are hoping he doesn't get a spray from his wife for sacrificing her good tupperware container). The container was too big to fit into the original position so we have moved it about a metre away. Shouldn't make it too difficult to find.
We were so mortified at breaking the container that we TNLN. We have carried out the broken glass to protect others.
dajjct has been notified of our accident.

Where might one walk the plank? was a better aid than the GPS which couldn't make up its mind. Joe Possum and Family are sure glad that the pirates were friendly and protected them from the worst of the blustery winds on Friday 29 December.

We left the blue little monster from the 'Top End O' the Prom'. We hope that he might get together again with the yellow little monster we left at 'Look Out for Sparks'.

Took a football whistle.

Our first cache in the Prom. What a great location. We walked the track without too much trouble. We went down to the lookout before hunting for the cache. The satloc was all over the place so I don't know if it was skill or luck, but we found it well hidden and safe. Thanks for this one. It made a great walk greater!

Well, where to start??
Twisties and I were down here filling in time before a conference in Melbourne the following day.
The night before we stayed in a great B&B in Yanakie, which we almost drove through without noticing...didn’t realise it was so small!! We headed out to Foster for some Chinese food, which as it turns out, my stomach doesn’t like but Twisties has an iron gut!! I spent the night in the bathroom

With the scene set, we were off into the National Park for the morning. Most of the caches we were not able to do but we thought we would do this one. I was in no mood for caching, no sleep and no food makes for a very unhappy geocacher.
But, once we parked the car and i got some fresh air, i couldn’t bare to sit in the car and miss out on this. So Twisties dragged me along, it was slow going but we made it to GZ and it was so worth it. The views are fantastic!!

I slept on the trail while Twisties did the cache stuff. We had excellent phone reception up there too which was good because the cricket was on Cache was all in order.

The walk back was easier but I was hanging out for some food. Fortunately the coffee shop had ham and cheese croissants, just what I wanted.

This area is great, and would be a favourite hang out if we lived south of the border. Thanks for giving us the inspiration to head out of Melbourne.

I was in two minds about attempting another hike after the morning's sand dune adventures, but the idea of a group cache assault was too good to pass up. Our original plan to climb Mt Oberon was thwarted (just as well...) so we headed out to Norman Bay instead (it's not too far...). Having reached a beautiful beach setting I was dismayed to learn we still had 1.2km to go - uphill! Fortunately we had maccadad along for encouragement and a hint or two, so the cache didn't take too long to find. Fabulous views on the way back - thanks for bringing me here!

Found by Pickupfamily Dad around 4pm in the company of Spruce Mooses Adam (who located the cache) and others on a walk out from Tidal River. It was a superb day and a beatiful from out here. This cache seems to get visited regularly by friendly school-kid muggles. TNLN. TFTC.

Found on 07/10/06 @ 1600 AEST. Plans to attempt this cache in the morning were changed for the sand dunes expedition, so after a late lunch (and after we discovered we couldn't get up Mt Oberon [B)]), we set off for Norman Bay. Accompanied by Pickupfamily Dad, GeoJo, and the masculine components of Maccamob and the Spruce Mooses, a most enjoyable afternoon walk was enjoyed to a fantastic outlook . The cache was found too

This was the second cache for today. Weather was overcast and warm for this time of the year. Found the cache although cunningly hidden. We enjoyed the search and to finish the day nicely sat at the cache site and watched he sun set. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks for the idea.

Managed this one on the same day as Derringers Sands of time. After setting up camp at Tidal River we wandered out here to see the views and of course to get the cache.
No swaps but did take Droopy who is not a happy looking chap, unlike us.

We did the walk from Tidal River -> Sealers -> Little Waterloo -> Oberon and back to Tidal River. Droopy (TB) came along for the adventure. Now he's sitting here looking at the view waiting for someone to take him on another adventure.

Fantastic area, brilliant cache location. TNLN except for Droopy.

Revisited this one after several years (Did a note so no double counting!) I had an idea. If everyone that visits takes a photo looking down towards the rocks, we will be able to track the speed of revegitation. I'll upload mine anyway and we'll see if this takes off.

Found on a very very windy day. It was hard to even stand up at the cache site. A great walk from Tidal River through an area that was devastated by the recent fire but is now showing signs of recovery. Many thanks for giving us a reason to do this walk. TNLN. Greg and Bev

Down here for the weekend with my daughter Alicia and her friend Jess and family. My first holiday at the Prom.
After my expected disappointment with WILSON'S PROMise, Alicia, Jess, Sue (Jess's Mum) and I decided to hike to Norman Bay and look for this one. After a lovely stroll along the beach, we climbed up the trail, which was pretty easy, to GZ. The grass trees seem to be the first to Spring back after the fires. We were black from all the burnt trees and shrubs after we had finished the hunt, (well I was anyway). Jess found the cache and was thrilled with her first find. The cache holds quite a number of logs other than Cacher's logs from people, mainly school kids who had found the cache whilst on school camps etc. No pen so they used a small burnt stick. Thanks for adding your great remarks and returning the cache intact.[^] Also to the young lady who was just "getting away from her boyfriend" and found it, logged it and returned it. The only sign of life we saw were a couple of skinks. Thanks dajjct. And thanks for the views

Found by sbalogh53 at 13:30 on 28/8/2005.
I failed to find Derringer's Above You Only Sky GCPA8G so I decided to try a few "easier" ones around Tidal River. This was the first of three that I attempted and the only one that had NOT been muggled out of the three.

The walk was absolutely lovely. I cut across the beach and then along the track up to the cache location. The cache itself was found shortly after arrival. Swaps were made and several photos were taken.

Found this fairly easily once I accepted the reading from the GPS. The recent bushfires have really changed the landscape but the new growth is great to see and the cleared ground has created some breathtaking views that are not normally available from the tracks.

I would recommend a visit to the Prom just to see these unique conditions. You could find a few caches as well.

Fires have destroyed all the trees and ground cover around the area - but the cache is fine. The track out is now open, but damaged by the top soil being washed down the slope due to the lack of ground cover.
Got there just on sunset. The cache is just far enough to get a great view across the water.

What a fantastic walk on a warm day. The water was a magnificent blue. I think the last time we tried this walk we did't get to far.

We found the cache after doing a full lap of the outcrop.

Took whistle, left glitter pen.

Our youngest son was bitten by a bullant so he needed to be carrierd back. He cheered up when we walked back along the beach.

Cache looked a bit easy to see/find, so we made a special effort to cover it best we could.

Found at 0937 after a bit of a search. GPS does not like large obstructions very much. Cache is is good condition and the view was spectacular.

Found at 4.40pm after a big day walking. Managed to get to the very top of the rock and take in the views of Norman Bay. By this time the mist and rain had cleared, so the typical Prom colours were back. Cache container was a little damp, but ok. Took: Make-up kit, Left: Packet of barrel swivels.

Found by Biggles Bear in the company of a group from Western Autistic School. Our first for the day with perfect weather affording excellent views. Cache in tact (despite being glass) although there was a little moisture inside. Took Jupiter Fly By Badge left make up kit.Thanks Sandpipers.

I found this cache on the first day of the Prom circuit hike (done in reverse). The weather was beautiful for the whole walk and there was an excellent view from up where the cache was hidden. I took nothing and left nothing.

Found at 5.50pm. We decided to go for a walk before tea and this cache was nearby.
We were down for a 5 day walk so this was a pleasant introduction.
We found cache after a short search both up and down.
The old logbook is perfectly dry but the new one is damp.
We took the travelling globe and left a Cassini fly by badge
Great views were it not for the strong wind, low scudding cloud and rain - A perfect Prom day really!!!

Found by David & Josiah.

Have walked this track various times over the last 30+ years, but cannot recall going off the track at this point. Great spot for a cache, although the gardian to the final location decided it wanted a piece of me. Because it happend to be the 15th March and there was a keyring about the 15th March, we had to take that, also took the prom Magnet. left some cable tidying straps and another keyring. Pam, Jill and Geoff found this cache fairly easily after a walk along a track we have travelled many times over the last ten years. The GPS got us within 5 metres and a quick search turned up the cache, Jill being the one to find it. The cache was in reasonably good condition except for the gooey melted Redskins. We removed them and took the Canadian key ring which was all glued up, and the recipe for smoked trout risotto. We will leave the Canadian keyring at the Prom in another cache.
We left one of the new Tidal River fridge magnets and a couple of pens. It could do with a new log book as the logs are now being written on scraps of paper.

When some mates piked on this trip, I decided to go anyway, and alter the route to include this cache ! the cache itself is hidden in a pretty cool place ! but the contents of the cache are a little dubious (mental note to self : redskins are not good cache contents) Unfortunately I left my pen, camera, and swapping trinkets back in my pack, and, as I was loosing the battle with the prom flies (ow !) I just couldn't summon the energy to get retrieve them. (I was tired from the hill ok ?) anyway, I tried to log my entry with the inkless pen (take your own or even replace the caches pen) and made no exchange.

Found it hard for the little Try-hards (3 and 5 year olds)to get to the site. Love the position and view form the top. Took knome and left hair care shampoo/conditioner pkt

I had an enjoyable walk to this cache. Along the way I found an young echidna going for a walk along the track in the same direction as me. After posing for a few photos, we parted company and I went in search of pirate booty. I found the cache easily. (It is not actually hidden, but is simply off the beaten track).

However, it has been visited twice since maccamob made their entry. Once by a cacher - not one I remember, and once before that by some high school kids on a school hike/camp. There was not much in the cache, not even a pen or pencil. Perhaps pirates (or school kids) had plundered it.

I had my bushwalking backpack with me and unfortunately it did not have a pen in it. So I simply used my Muzza was here stamp in the log book and left the cache where I found it - no swap was made.

Chris and Julie's second find. We may be the cachers Muzza mentions. We stayed all week and are just returned to log our visit.

This cache had been *accidentally* discovered, astonishingly, by Trarlgon Seccondary College on the 14/11/02. A notice in the cache suggested this group may have been the Outdoor Education Overnight Hike Group.

Not sure if we took the difficult way, but this cache was rather tricky to get to! We took nothing, but left a dwarf kinder suprise toy. Apologies for not leaving a pencil!

A great location, and a most enjoyable hunt.

Found by Mary & David at 1215. We left home before daybreak to come here, as we were going on to Moe that night. Paid our $9 'ransom' at the gate and made our way to the carpark. Lots of emus on the flats on the way in, and a wombat crossing the road on the way out. No pirates to be seen but David looked like one when one of the local Crimson Rosellas sat on his shoulder as we got out of the car. They are all very tame. We loved the many features of this cache location, and it had been too many years since our previous visit. Along the early part of the walk, gnarled tea trees with wizened limbs like skeletal fingers hugged the track, then opening out to coastal vegetation. Sounds of the surf could be heard well before the first glimpse of the sea crashing against the rocks. Banksias, grevilleas, correas, grass trees, heath and moss provided a varied landscape. Huge boulders covered in moss and lichen could be treacherous in the wet, but we were again blessed with lovely warm weather. Found the cache after about 10 minutes searching progressively around the 'rocky outcrop', which gave us wonderful views up and down the coast. A good lookout spot for the friendly pirates. Took the Canadian pack of quotation stickers, and left the roll of pipe tape from 'Ghost Train'. A wonderful caching experience. Thanks to the Sandpiper Seven from Victoria BC.

[Set off from Sidney mate with my trustee dingo Lucky. Ad to quit afta 3 ours of swemmin. I was afraid my sheila would be getting right worried. note to other cacher's ]avoid looking like a whale while passing Neah Bay[ There must be an easier way a mate?]

There were signs that Captain No Beard and the Pi-Rats might have searched this cache for the Lost Loot that the Captain had taken from a saleman of defunct bonds and presumably lost gold mine certificates. As most most people in Victoria, BC, know that Captain No Beard has been looking for his lost loot and may have sailed to the State of Victoria, Australia, as a possible place for the loot to have be hidden.

This note is confirms that the lost loot is not here nor is it to be found any longer at the Lost Loot Site in Victoria, BC. If any geo-cacher in Australia finds this site and does know of where the lost loot might be located, Captain No Beard and the Pi-Rats can be contacted by clicking on Canada, British Columbia, and will find his profile and how he can be contacted. Once there, simple leave a log about his lost loot. Your sympathy for his loss might be appreciated. More importantly, any information you might have about where it might be would be welcome. I grabbed his loot in the first place and now I am trying to leave a false trail.
