Snuck this one on New Year's Eve between the beer store and the pizza joint! At the SE corner of 31st Ave and 32nd Street in Vernon, BC. According to the City of Vernon Website (www.downtownvernon.org/murals/index.html), the following is said of the mural:
S.S. Okanagan
In the early 1900's, sternwheelers were used for lake transportation. They also provided passengers with forms of entertainment like on-baord picnics and moonlight cruises with dancing. The sternwheeler depicted in the mural is the S.S. Okanagan, the second of three CPR sternwheelers to ply Okanagan Lake. She was built at the Okanagan Landing shipyards in 1907. "In those days we had no roads, and the only transportation up and down the lake was the steamboats. They were beautifully appointed - a dining saloon with spotless linens and glittering silver - all stamped with CPR and a ladies' saloon with upholstered furniture, carpeted floors, windows all around so they could sit and view the lake. They were beautiful boats". - R.J Sugars

In 1978 John Dudley known as "The Cap'n" was asked to help raise money for charity at The Barbican Regatta. He provided burgers and over fast food items. From this he applied for planning permission and this was the start for the famous Cap'n Jaspers on the Whitehouse Pier Barbican Plymouth England.. This hut stood for ten years and became so popular that it had to be rebuilt even bigger. On 1 May 1997 new premises were open which you can see today.
The Cap'n sadly passed away on 24 June 2001. The barbican lost a truly unique and very special man.
Cap'n Jaspers continues to be run by The Cap'ns daughter, Georgie, who has been involved with the business since it opened in 1978.

This Picture is worth to be published.
It shows us Mario Adorf, he lived in Mayen with his mother...

"THE POTTERIES MURAL" - this is one of a series of murals at the entrance to the Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent) in England. It was painted by a local artist in 1989 when the shopping centre was built, and is near the main walkway between the car park and the shops.
This particular mural shows a scene which would have been typical of the local pottery factories in days gone by (see 18 on the listing, apologies for the flash reflection). Others show things such as Spitfires (designed by Reginald Mitchell, a local lad), the sinking of the Titanic (Captain Smith was from Stoke on Trent) and Sir Stanley Matthews, the Stoke and Blackpool footballing legend.
Due to this being enclosed in a stairwell with no GPS coverage, the GPS photo is from the car park roof approximately 25 metres away.

This is a mural of the Marco Polo, located in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. This mural is special since it was painted by one of my students as a summer project.
From the Marco Polo Website http://new-brunswick.net/marcopolo/story/page6.html
So it was that on the 26th of December 1852, just 76 days out of Melbourne, and 5 months 21 days after starting out in Liverpool. Stretched between her fore and main masts was a giant banner snapping in the breeze. On it, painted in bold letters, for all of Liverpool to see was the proclamation "Fastest Ship in the World". The MARCO POLO was the first ship to circumnavigate the world in less than six months
Note to cache owner, I'll get my pics developed this weekend, and post them ASAP.

This PARTIOTIC MURAL can be found in UPTON, WIRRAL, UK. The house is close to the end of the Motorway spur at Junction 2 of the M53 (take the slip road off the spur and turn left toward Upton). It appeared a few years ago, when the England football team were doing well (I think in the 2002 World Cup).
Note the details of the Red Cross of St George, the 3 Lions badge, and the gold star. I've also uploaded a photo of Michael Owen in his England shirt for comparison purposes. The small gold star is just above the 3 lions badge.

When passing these murals down an alley off the main street of North Hobart, I've seen people give the dogs tied up a double take. I've also seen people try to put post into the boxes. The same artist has also painted 'patients' lined up outside a vet's surgery nearby.

Malaysia seems to be good at claiming the "world's biggest something". One thing is undisputed: they currently boast the world's tallest buildings, Petronas twin towers (of course, this will change soon).
The mural pictured here is claimed to be Asia's largest computer graphic mural. It is located at the intersection of Jalan Petaling and Jalan Hang Lekir in Kuala Lumpur. It is 'painted' across the front of the S&M Shopping Arcade.
Jalan Petaling hosts a famous (or infamous) night market, where you can purchase all manner of fake watches, t-shirts, handbags, perfume, Mont Blanc pens, DVDs, and so on. You name it, and you can buy a fake one here.

There is a great mural walk with all murals either signposted or quite obvious. Don't forget to check with the local Tourist Information Centre for more details.

Better late than never with logging this find.
This mural was in the main shopping strip of Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand. I snapped it shortly after having swum with seals in the ocean.
The name of the town is Maori for 'food-crayfish'. Despite the abundance of seafood, there are heaps of eco-tourism activities to do in the area. The only draw back is that the beach is mainly made of stone.

This mural is at Beachport in South Australia. Not quite sure what it is meant to represent except for fun. It is a holiday resort town. The site is a playground names after a woman who ran a store at the local railway station (long disappeared).

South Brisbane railway station - Australia.
Situated on a wall near the Grey St Railway Station, this mural is the work of community arts organisation Phantast, in conjunction with the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) World Congress, which was held in Brisbane September 1999.
Over 400 children, teachers and artists from schools as far as Ipswich, Caboolture, Inala, Redlands, Wynnum and the Gold Coast, were involved in the mural.
The mural depicts one of Australia's Indigenous leaders, Elder Peter Costello, who was instrumental in the process of negotiation that led to the creation of the Native Title Act 1993.
The 60m (200ft) long, 4m high mural also includes scenes of sky, river and land, designed by school children involved in the project. The 17 - 18 year old students used paint brushes, aerosol cans and air brushes to create the masterpiece.

This mural is located on the Post Office walls at Kapunda, South Australia. It is a mural of some of the experiences of a local identity Sir Sidney Kidman.
The young Sid Kidman, left home in the night at the age of 13 with 2 shillings in his pocket and with a one eyed horse called Cyclops. Young Sid learned about the ways of the Australian bush from an old Aboriginal tracker. He became a land owner and gained his wealth from cattle and horse sales. The huge acreage of land meant that he could actually walk across Australia without stepping off his land.
The year Sir Sidney Kidman was knighted, he kindly donated his Kapunda Home, “Eringa†to the Education Department in 1921, to be used for a High School.
As I was the only one around in this country town, I balanced the GPS on the sign to take the shot.

Why travel far to find a mural when you can just go out the door at work. The mural is a train theme. The study was probably to prevent graffitee.
