Last one for the day and I'm feeling every step (Thursday P.E, Friday Work, Geocaching and today Work and Geocaching.... ) so it did take me a little while to get here and get back to the car. I'm so hurting right now but what a fun day of caching thanks Herca, Wasptor and T-rex 05! ohhh and TFTC!

After taking the "long way round" with MV found the cache and went back to tower to check out the view.

Walked down the hill after being told that trig points don't all look alike. As my lovely husband just pointed out, I whinged most of the way up the hill... oh well! New goal: get fit. TFTC!
25th
Found this one before going up the Telstra Tower. There are some crazy people here in Canberra, they are either riding bikes up Black Mountain and back down again or they are walking up from the bottom, (wish I was that fit) just about killed me climbing back from the cache.
TFTC
25th
Walked down from the top to get this one. Glad I did there is no way I would have made it from the bottom, it was bad enough walking back up after finding it. TFTC.

Just a short walk from the tower. Nice
4th

Found by edmil and maddie. we had just been admiring the views from Red Hill, enjoying the sunshine and some good coffee and cake, We decided that we would see if could find our way across to the Telstra tower as there was sure to be a cache there. We asked a local the best way to get there and she pointed us in the right direction. However we still needed to refer to the GPS for some advice.
We arrived at the top off the hill and admired the structure. While it was open to the public maddie assurred me that there was no way she was going to take the tour, so we gave it a miss. Instead I fired up the GPS and we took off in search of this one. It didn't take us long and the stroll was quite pleasant. At GZ the log was signed and I removed TB to Journey on; no swap was made. As this was a cache at our third hill top adventure in Canberra I figured it deserved some recognition and dipped our traveling Geocoin into the cache this registering the cache on our coins log. The geocoin is reserved for special caches that offer us something different or have special significance to us.
Thanks for the cache.

Nice location. Found without any difficulty - had to pose for photographs as muggles went by just as we had retrieved the cache.

Left Beacon TB Dog Tag (Beacon the Frog!). He has come from UK but would like to travel the world!

We decided to visit another hill to admire the view. The kids flatly refused to get out of the car - not another look-out.
So the rest of us went over to the today for a look around - there must have been a time when you could walk out on the outside area.
We then headed off to find the nearest cache to mark our visit.
Bee2 did th enavigation and while not appreciating the return uphill walk quickly lead us to the cache. There was an amazing looking tree on the left as we headed towards the cache.

Was up on Black Mountain collecting a clue for Tourist Tours and decided I should do this venerable old fellow too. Since I did "A ride around the lake" so I could do "Triangle's Apex" I figured I'd make it a trio and do this one also. Almost got sprung by a muggle, but she had her heaphones on and didn't hear me clunking rocks around. If you park at the tower be careful locking your car. My remote didn't work at all.

This cache wasn't on the planned list, but it was close enough and it would require an actual walk when all previous caches for the day had been virtual drive by's. Found easily, recovered with some manual labour that the others just watched me perform. Sara took the TB, but then she also had to carry one of her kids back up the hill! TFTC

A brilliant largish cache. One of the few traditionals in this area and a normal sized cache at that. I enjoyed the walk down from the top. nothing hard about this at all. Visiting the Mountain for a look around the capital, we found out there were a couple of caches about so we had to have a go. As promised there were plenty of Muggles on the tracks but I think that they were so busy sucking air that they hardly noticed us as we quietly sat there and wondered at their defiance to be jogging up such tracks.
Took TB But had left our swaps at our boarding place in the northern suburbs.

Dear fellow geocachers, we are trying to locate our Skycity Travel Bug left in Geocache ( near the Telstra Tower ) on 26/5/2007, it has now been noted the TB is not in this cache, we were wondering if anyone saw it there ( it is a skycity Adelaide casino chip $5 ) perhaps it has been taken it to move along and it did not get logged out, if so could you do so, if not we thank you for your time, kind regards Team: A Flipper&co, Gayle & Mark

Found with Sumbloke after the ACT Cache of the Year Awards at Woden. We'd just completed Bug-Off, so whilst we were in the area..... Again, literally nothing to CITO - clean as a whistle. An elderly muggle bushwalking troop decided to have a break right next to where we were looking, so Sumbloke and I just had to take in the view for a while. Thanks - it's been a while since I've been up here and it was nice to go for a stroll in some great scrub - the concrete path wasn't that natural but pretty good nonetheless. Met the Gigglygecko Clan while I was up there (I spied their carefully concealed GPS and had to say G'day - thanks for the chat and also the flattery of being considered 'cool' *grin*) so it was good to have a quick chat with likeminded souls. finished botanic boggle and decided to try for this one, as it was pretty close. Next time I will try taking a path, or not going straight up the hill. or not doing it at 3:00 in the middle of summer. Oh well. Found the cache with no real difficulty. Took whoopee cushion, left little man.

Came here for my sixth cache of the day but it wasn't to be low batteries, lack of sunlight and no torch all contributed to me not finding this cache. Basically me being completely unprepared for this cache meant that I only got five out of six finds today instead of six from six. Oh well whilst I was in the area decided to start tourist tours.

Nice day for it because it was sunny and the cold wind had died down. Took the easy way and came down to it, Swapped the clog (put there by traineediplomat for a whoopee cushion.

Found today by the youngest of our team: Hill M.E. The cache is in excellent condition. We took 'Lizzy Lizard' and left the spider we picked up in the 'Roger, the Cabin Boy' cache. We made it back to the car just in time as it began to hail and almost sleet. This in October!? Wow.

Great morning hike easier to find than the cache hidden just up the track!

First find for the day. The pictures and clues helped (as I have no GPS ...yet!). The surrounds looked like the sort of place for an owl. Go forth my minion.

Third for the day (doubling my finds to date - yay). Did not have any trouble in the failing light of dusk. Took a trio of foreign coins for a trio or our own. I really need to find some trinkets for trading. Ta geodesy#5.

I had a flex day from work so I set off after this cache. I also came from the top and followed a now well established track down to the cache. Remembering clues from past logs I looked for a non natrual pile of rocks.....ahhh and admired many piles of rocks. But I thought where would I put it and found it okay. Nobody told me there was a teddy bear in it! I love teddy bears! The little teddy bear will join my collection of teddy bears at home. Does anyone else know of Canberra caches in them with teddy bears? I was so grateful for the teddy bear I left two toy cars and a plastic sea urchin in the cache. Excellent big container too. Spent the rest of the day marking waypoints for my new multi cache.

We tried to find The Pines but the light disappeared on us. Traineediplomat suggested we head op and grab this one (he's already logged it, so he just followed me while I looked). Everyone I've talked to about this cache said it was fairly easy to spot, but looking well after the sun had set made it just a tad more difficult. Found it after walking over it twice.
Took the travel bug Hercules.

Yet another hill to climb. Hope people realise there is more to Canberra than hills. Cache had food in it and was covered with ants. Removed the food.

Found with little trouble as geodesy#5 were there at the time, checking on their cache! Great chance to watch the sunset before heading home. Took the electrical tape and left an I Love Maisy badge.

Second time lucky! Well actually didnt need GPS as I remebered point to go off the track and within two steps could see the cache. Looks like the stones had fallen away. In my rush to get to the cache had forgotton to bring exchange so nothing swapped. Came across a coupe of runners who had approached from below. They didnt look well.

To be honest; I did try from the bottom but soon realised where I was heading so I used some wheels to get to the top. Found the cache without any problems but got attacked by ants. They probably knew that I came from the top... No swaps.

Found 7:50, Early morning find for this one. We had been here the night before but I didn’t think the party shoes were up to it so a second visit was required. Quite a different view the morning after!
Took Party Pack (Balloons and Poppers) and left Glow Stick. Thanks for setting this on another fine Canberra peak.

OK, who was the bright spark who suggested coming from the bottom of the hill? I should've read the logs first. Parked in the suggested place, and promptly took completely the wrong track, heading off to the north, but amazingly it swung around to join a dirt road that eventually led to the same track. So after walking about twice as far I did find the cache. However I'd strongly recommend anyone attempting this one to WALK DOWN FROM THE TOWER! Took the Urge Overkill CD and left a soft toy, mini-briefcase and something else which slips my mind.

Plenty of good views nearby, and a nice easy stroll (thankfully we came in the easy way). Did a few laps of the GZ before the GPS settled down, maybe the stray EM from nearby was playing games with us. Took the RAM (we may be able to put to use), and left some teabags. Gratitude to geodesy#5

Can't remember the date I found it. Forget to log on to website until just now. Easy to find with the hint.

Left Janet at home to recover from this morning's hike. Stu & I decided to take the easy option, and walked down from the top of the hill. Soon found the appropriate tree and then Stu located the container nearby. Thrilled to take the bubble pen left just a few hours earlier - it will keep me entertained at work!! Stu grabbed the poncho, and we left behind a twin doll and something else (can't remember!). Had to stand and enjoy the view for a while as there were some walkers nearby before replacing the cache! Great location

Started from the top. Found it straight away, the GPS just pointed us right to it. Found by the wife, who finds most of the caches. Took a purse, party popper, and stickers. Left, Dolphin bubble pen. Emergency Poncho.
Left this one to go do the London's Loft. Which we also found. But what a miserably bleak grey and windy day for caching.
8 out of 8, no FTF's yet (Failed To Find) Yeehaa we're on a roll.

What a well hidden cache - but with all the traffic in the area, I guess it needs to be. Found it early this afternoon - sun was shining - great day to sit up there on the hill. I cheated and came from the top. Took Melbourne Gnome and left a car air freshener.

Yep, not a problem, even took three screaming kids with us. Even old 'flat sole' had a good time rummaging around the ground looking for the cache.
Anyway, one down, many more to go...

Just off the end of Frith Rd eh, so off I goes on me trustee MTB, riding up ever increasing steep and narrow tracks, puff, puff - found it - within 2 puffs of that tower thing on top of the hill - DOH. Just visited, no swaps. Seeing as I was so close to the top, I went up there and Coo-ee, - what a ride back down the bitumen road, no traffic, open road Coo-ee. Nice spot right in the middle of Canberra, very pleasant.

Out for a pleasant Sunday arvo cache find. Should have started at the top and worked down rather than the other way around, but it was all good exercise anyway. Found the ol' oak tree (proverbially) and then fossicked for a while amongst the rocks to look for anything that was out of kilter with nature. The cache is reasonably well hidden but nature could never have placed the rocks as they are and that was the giveaway. Exchanged a couple of party poppers and a champagne bottle cork for the strawberry chew-chew bar. A few people walked up and down the nearby pathway while I was writing the log entry but I don't believe that they noticed me or saw what I was doing. I made sure it was all clear when I reset the cache, so that it remains well hidden from the view of unwashed plebs and detectable only by us of the GPS cognoscente.

Getting the hang of this – and with my Son helping, found the cache fairly easily. There was stacks of stuff in the cache, and lots of interesting log entries. My son decided on the Matchbox Quattro so we took that, and left an Oxford Dictionary CDROM. ThomasS.

Great! Enjoyed Australia Day up there, with some international visitors. The contents of the cache and everyone else's amusing comments in the logbook made for more merriment than the trek up there - and it was all worthwhile. Thanks!

This is quite easy is you come from the right direction, but I can see it would be tough if you don't. I took the emergency poncho - it may come in handy.

User's web pageJust thought idd grab this one on my way in to see the Questacon, 2 hours later, decided to go back to my digs, and clean up first. Again, not being a local territorian, and following the guides on this log page, i started at the bottom. and ran out of trails after only 300 meters, still had about 700 to go, so dead reckoned ot till i stubled back on the main path about 50 meters from the cache, Doh!. Finaly found it, only to see that there was a great, tidy, concrete path only meters from the cache! AAAArgH! had fun any way, saw some wallabies, and thousands of wanderer butterflies, which was great.

This was my first cache. It is less than 2km from my office, so I ducked up after work. Being slack, I walked down from the top. The Etrex took me straight to the spot, and I found it no problems. Cache is in good condition, however, being unprepared, I had nothing to offer, so took nothing. I will be back though. GPS is now 3 weeks old, and I now have 1 cache and 1 confluence (36S149E) under my belt. There will be more to come.

10:40 am. Nice day for a little warm-up. I followed the instructions of geodesy#5 and did it from the bottom. The terrain is what bushwalkers in NSW often have too. Took two water pistols for some dip and lick and toys.
Nice to see you have an original name for the stash. I notice there isn't another quite like it!

This was our 3rd Geocache for the day. After driving from Jindabyne this morning and geocaching in the Snowies the day before we were both tired so the hill from Frith avenue was not inviting. We decided to take another approach. Well it paid of in both time and energy. Cache is in good condition. Surprised to see Tangles had been there recently. Exchanged some items, soap and a small purse (ex Canberra Nature Park) for batteries. After this we had some dinner up above the cache and headed home. Good one Geodesy#5.

On the way to the cache we rescued a juvenile echidna off the road, that all the other cars wanted to run over. This was the only time we have been to this location and it has not been windy. Swapped some space stickers for an Audi.

Logging the caches I found. I was one of the quitetypes crew. What a day we had. The walks were great and the scenery was tremendous. Hope all of the the caches I find have walks as nice as this one.

Nice hike up the hill! (puff) Well hidden! Great view. #2 for the day (3 total). Foreign imports enjoyed seeing the wildlife, but kept holding the GPS upside down, something about north and the sun.... tourists Took squirt and CD, left spaceblanket and Guinness pin (it needed a good home). Enjoy!!

Phew I made it. My first virgin cache. I've been watching the web site like a hawk for about a month to see any new caches come up in Canberra and now it has paid off. In my haste to get to the geocache I forgot to take along a replacment item and my digital camera. So there will be no photos for the moment and all the items in the cache are the same. But I do have my eye on the red water pistol so I will be back with goodies in hand to relieve the cache of the aqua propulstion device. A hint for the geacachers walking up from the end of Frith road, don't do what I did and walk up into the fenced off area with the sign at the gate that said no entry - danger It takes you in to and old mine site with no access to the cache. Follow the fence line around to the right. By the way the place is in a great spot. With a nice view over the north west parts of the city.
