Well, the candles have been blown out, the cake consumed and champers drunk.......so it's time to close this Birthday event..........
Thanks all for attending.........I look forward to seeing you next year........

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday dear cache,
Happy Birthday to you!
A good social event, was great to catch up with people and to hear of the lengths some are going to for caches! Even one of the four legged cahcers had a birthday hat!
I didn't get a chance to do the Birthday Cache in question, due to Eynowd's small one getting a bite that sent us on a multi to Calvery. ;) (As Eynowd pointed out, she's ok, it was deemed a ant bite.) Thanks to everyone who gave advice and well wishes for her, she was her normal self at the end of the day!
Unbirthday find is planned for a date in the near future. :)
Thanks to the Sol team for organizing!

Sorry we couldn't make it - a long standing arrangement saw us away for the weekend.
For what it's worth, the birthday cache was found by us in 2007, 4 months and 260-ish after our first one. 15 caches per week back then, clearly well before any sign of obsession
Ah, but back in those days, things were tuff... Caches were so sparse I once had to work for 35 years in salt mine to save just enough for the deposit on a second hand Systema from me Da. And ya tell that ter young cachers these days and they won't believe ya

[font=Comic Sans Ms]1974. A lot of the usual suspects and the appearance of a legends progeny. More stories swapped and plans made and RexTrex kept filling the glass for me. Looks like he's still playing his valet role from Bathurst. I could become accustomed to this.
The cache in question was either my 8th or 9th and was done within 4 days of me becoming obsessed - boy did that happen fast. Also it was the cache where we (McPhanKid was excited by caching at this stage) found a TB. It was one of the white jeeps and we were amazed that things like this travelled around.
Top event as usual and well done Sol et al.

Thanks for the Birthday Party. So many names to put faces to.
Quite overwhelming.
Since Sam behaved himself so well we took him for a walk that resulted eldest son being suspended upside down from a bridge.
Glad the bite was only an ant. Antihistamines will make for a quiet night.
Waiting for the next event now.

Everyone thought I was just tagging along with my Dad, (Mt Biker OZ) but I am a cacher of my own standing much to their surprise as I was still in my rather dressy, non practical, non caching Church Clothes, including high heels.

Well done Sol. Arrived a bit late due to other committments, oldest Grandchild certainly enjoyed the DISTANT playground. The cache in question was in my first 5 in 2001.
Good to hear the bite victim is OK. Thanks Sol.

Well, that was fun......
Hope everyone enjoyed the part day out. As usual it was great to catch up with everyone and hear all about what they have been doing lately. The time seemed to fly by and before I knew it, it was time to pack up. Thanks to those who helped with the unpacking and repacking.
As for party leftovers, forget it. We returned home with 1 bottle of soft drink and about half the orange juice. Everything else, lollies, chips and birthday cake, as well as the 3 bottles of bubbly......gone. A good effort one and all.
Hopefully, we can do the same again next year when our oldest cache will turn 9.
Thanks to the good Mrs Sol for the assistance in getting things right for the day. (I think she likes party shopping.)
Also, a thank you to Alex, the owner of the cache, for the details of the cache from when it was hidden.
A couple of photo's from the day attached.
Again, thanks for attending.

Thanks for a great Event Sol. As usual the Canberra cachers know how to hold a great get together.
I am glad to hear that the bit victim is OK. As usual it it was great to catch up with you all and to also meet some new cachers. We will get up to the oldest cache soon.

Cake, party hats....and by the sounds of the comments a bit of drama after all. Glad to hear the sprog-lette is not overly unwell. She might need extra chocolate cake though.
Thanks to Mr & MRs SoldeLune for a well organised event. I always have fun at these - even though I had to shoot off to the office for the afternoon I managed to pick up a couple of local caches - albeit not the Birthday one that will have to wait for another trip (and also meet others of the same mind afterwards). As per usual a great caching day.

I did the cache in question on 17/4/06, that is four months into my caching. It was great to see everyone again, old and new. Thanks.

Thanks Sol de Lune, that was a bit different. The catering was certainly appreciated, as was the history - a fascinating insight into the early dys of geocaching in Australia.
The wind was a bit cool but the company was warming.

Good to meet up with the usual crowd and some newbies. It's good to have time to catch up on recent events and pick up a few clues.

Even with the weather turning a little chilly today, a good time was had by all. Thanks to Sol De Lune for organising this and bringing all the nibblies for the party.
Good to see the usual suspects and some new faces as well.
TNLNSL TFTE!
(Oh, and for those who were still there at the end, my daughter is OK. She was bitten by something, but the doctor up at the Calvary hospital thinks it was a large ant - given the shape of the puncture marks - rather than a spider. She was prescribed some antihistamines, and the swelling on her thumb has subsided, so she should be back to normal in no time )

Bit of a hectic day today with other apointments, but did manage to get here in the end - albeit a little late! Great crowd as per normal. Champers was a nice touch. The "Canberra Nature Park" cache was my 5th ever cache find! Thanks for organising Sol de Lune.

Came along with TE. It was nice - I liked the cake! Thanks.

Thanks to Mr and Mrs Sol de Lune for organising this event - a great way to celebrate another milestone for our oldest cache. I hadn't visited Mt Painter before, so took the opportunity to go up before the event. Great views, kangaroos, prickles, rocks. Totally unique situation in Canberra - ?
I arrived at the event location a bit early so after helping Sol shuffle tables and chairs, I was able to try out two two-line stunt kites that happened to smuggle themselves aboard the RexMobile before departure from home. Thanks to the young ladies who held the kites down for me while I sorted out their stringy bits.
It was great to meet up with old friends, to welcome the SamWalker team (and Sam) to caching, to see the next generation of mtbikeroz grandkids before they grow to be 6 feet tall and to see my first redback spider. Enjoyed the bubbly too - thanks Sol.

Arghh... Snowboard boot fitting went for 3 hours with no results. Sorry I couldn't make it =(

1137 - Thanks to Sol and his broken wife for getting this Event up and running! Fun was had by all - except for the 'bite' which appears to be OK now which is good to hear...
I went and checked my records - the cache in question was my 128th find on 27 Dec 2007 - and yes those thistles rated a mention - especially since my son was wearing crocs and shorts...!
Great to catch up with mostly the usual suspects, but a few new faces showed up which is good as well.
Yearly Event? Provided it last why not! Otherwise we'll be on Black Mountain I believe...
T 3 TBs.... - TFTC !!
Cheers....

I'm planning on attending - but I may be 30-40min late...

Dropping in some TB's

The wind seems to have arrived on cue , however all is set for the birthday bash.
For those wishing to partake in a glass of bubbly, please dont forget to bring a glass. There will be soft drink and orange juice for others, with some plastic cups available. If your geokids are attending, maybe bring a cup for them.
I will also have a few chairs there, however if you really need to sit, may be an idea to have one with you.
We will be located in front of a small building that will offer some protection from the wind (and rain if we are that unlucky)
I chose this location as it close to the cache. I'm sure it will be ok..........................
Look forward to seeing you there.
(Also dropping in a coin and a TB)

What a perfect way to pay tribute to Canberra's first cache.
A perfectly organised event by Sol de Lune and another great opportunity to catch up with the Canberra caching community. It was also nice to meet new cachers SamWalkers.
Thanks for a fun outing!

Thoroughly enjoyable to catch up and meet new and old friends. Thanks so much for organizing the event Mr & Mrs Sol de Lune - it went off very very well. The chocolate cake was a treat, and I thoroughly relished my thimbleful of sparkly wine.
Excellent

Dropping some TBs. May be a little late but hopefully I will get there in time (I should really check times of events before making appointments),
18th
I think its the first event I had champagne at and good to hear about the history of the cache and its hider , really 7 hides and 2 finds in the early days.. I'm not sure I could stand it.
anyway Geodog had a good run and I had a few party treats .. thanks Sol...
18th
Dvixen and I will be there. I've just put a bottle of bubbly in the fridge to bring with us, so there'll be a little more to go around :)
18th
I've been a little ill over the last few days but all going well I should be there.
18th
With no chairs it should be safe for a newby to attend.
Will bring best crystal plastic.

I just had a look at the original cache page. I was the second finder on the 20th of May. A day after Tangles. Even back then it was difficult to get the FTF.
I did notice that I logged it with my original caching name and account "NCHAUNCY". This has only 1 find.
I logged it again with my current account and old user name ACT2LD on the 28th of August on the same year.
The funny things you do. I'm just hoping I'm a little wiser now [:o)]
18th
I will BYO cup and goodwill... see you there
17th
Still fairly n00b at this caching thing, but if my Sister can make it (she has the car), so will I.
17th
Arr thats a shame. I will not be in town for this one. And to think this was my first ever find. All those years ago. I think I was even the second or third to find it.
Maybe next year.
17th
Best wishes for a great day!
14th
Rats, rats, rats... another event I'll have to miss. I'm helping out at the Canberra Marathon that day & probably won't be finished in time to make it to the event (unless the event goes longer than expected & the marathon finishes quicker than expected). Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath.
13th
Sorry, we will be unpacking boxes in our new house. I hope you have a great day.
12th
Sorry Sol de Lune, Winglens will be out of town so we won't be there. I hope it goes well and sing louder to make up for us!
11th
I have visited this cache and enjoyed reading the logs of years past. But I will be out hiking with my scouts.... I will be able to pick up a couple of caches aolng the way. So enjoy the party and have heaps of fun.
(watch the weather those of you who have read Hitch Hikers know where my name comes from and those of you in scouts know its true)

A great idea - I shall be there.....
When I visited this cache quite a while ago the original Log Book was still in it - very interesting reading...
7th
oh I do love parties.... :) but what do you give an 8yo cache?????? they're just soooo hard to buy for.
6th
id be there for sure! Id bring my own birthday suit as well
5th
OK, its a weasel. I now know what I am doing (for a change).
5th
The party sounds great - count me in. Now I just need to figure out what it is we are celebrating and if I have visited it. There must be a way to do this, following a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel!.
4th
We will be there - Happy Birthday

Hmmm, maybe he could tell me how it panned out.........
was the weather ok, how many people attended, was there enough cake, did he bring his own glass???
Ah, so many questions...........LOL

Wow! albida33 has a time machine!

Great stuff. I have only done two of the various 'Oldest' caches, and the ACT one is one of them. See you there. Albida. (log type corrected)
