WOW!!! I had a blast - my husband wanted to know what I was doing out running around at 2am.... and eyeing off that tree at 1am trying to figure out where the bloody cache was. Now I'm only 5'2" and only young on the inside it took a little more effort to grab this one but I got there in the end all be it not like those who have sticky toe pads or nerves of steel I prussicked up (Ellie if you publish those photos I'll have to hide my next one somewhere real good).

What a fantastic event and game..... I might use the concept for a scout activity.....

Cheers and thanks to all those who hid caches and helped it was worth it. Special thanks to the S's.

Newsflash: For all attendees at yesterday's event, you have the opportunity to get your own pathtags made with a $15 discount off the regular price (discounted price is US$84 +S/H for 50 pathtags). I only got the coupons today, so was obviously unable to hand them out at the event. The coupon expires 2 weeks after the event date (29th March), so you don't have long. If you are interested, send me an email & I will give you the details of how to claim the discount. My only stipulation is that you'll have to trade me one of your tags when you get them!! Big Grin

Where to start? Firstly, congrats & thanks to The Ss on organising such a well run event and arranging so many prizes for the award and game winners. And thanks also to the volunteers who assisted.

Well done to the winners, there are lots of great caches to choose from these days, your prizes are thoroughly deserved.

Thanks to all the cachers out there who have visited my caches. Receiving a prize was most unexpected but very gratifying. You've all got to do Tour De North - I think its my best cache Wink

And of course it was a great day out in the sunshine, catching up with people. It was a shame we had to go so early. I especially enjoyed hearing Growingupisoptional's story about using their balloon to find Mt Springbank - that's certainly a different wat to get there!

Cheers - already looking forward to the next one.

What a fantastic event!!! Berzerker and I had a great time, as did our Geo-spouses, who had the pleasure of driving around with us for the majority of the 24hr game. Unfortunate that we came up to short with 22/24, but the main thing is we had a great time. Congrat's to those teams who got the 24 Smile
Thanks to The S's, and everyone involved in setup and co-ordination. Can't wait til next year!
(PS: Berzerker is right, the Yarralumla Yowie does exist, and scared the hell out of us doing multi's at 2am in the
morning Surprised)

Well, better later than never! Dvixen and I had only just moved house and we were still cleaning the other one, but we needed a break, so we swung by the event. We were about thirty minutes late, and all the awards had been handed out by then Sad

Still, it was good to see the gang again Smile

Another great little gathering of ACT and visiting cachers.

Thanks to The S's for again setting everything up for the '24' game and the arranging the prizes for that and the award winners.

My concern is that you're setting the bar pretty high. What will you do next year to top this effort. Cool Cool Cool

Again, thanks and well done.

967 - Better late than never for me as well. Had a great time in the short timeframe I was there - if this was the remains of the crowd then there were definately a lot of attendees this year !

Kudo's to the S's and helpers who organised the event - I was very happy to hear I had a runners up for 'There's a Hole in the Bucket' !

I hope everyone who did the 24 hour event had a blast... despite some problems it seems to have been well received !

Good to catch up with some old and new faces - see you in the field or the next event...

T - Runners Up Prize (A nice torch) - L - Donation for the prizes - well done on those !

Cheers....

Thanks for the event. I had quite a good time meeting a few new people and going on a wild blackberry enthralled adventure to take a photo.

Sorry to the cachers who had issues with my caches, I really didn't think they would be that hard, but I guess it's always like that when you know the answer.

I uploaded the photos I took to GC.com but if you want to see them in their hi-res glory

What a great event! The team from the Bay did a great job showing up the locals, keeping the S's awake during the dark hours checking coordinates, and coming out top of the heap! Well done team. My own attempts at caching in thunderstorms with lightning bolts zinging off the nearby power lines just doesn't reach your lofty heights. I went to bed about 10PM - you kept going.

But I had a great time. I set my first caches in Canberra, received nice comments about my various pictures in the forums, and featured in the awards category. But most of all, today I got to stand around gossiping about geocaching with a great bunch of folk. If there is one category I feel is understated in the awards, it is for the Event Cache's. My thanks to Tealby, the Winglens, Big Matt and Shell and Bewilderbeast for hosting the events I attended in 2008. Those events were a great way for me to meet others in the ACT/QB caching community.

A special word of thanks to the S's - Susan and Sean. You spent most of last year planning the 24-themed cache series, then organised the volunteer cache-setters, planned the awards event, collated all the entry nominations and vote results, arranged for sponsor contributions and prizes and ran an event as well. Please accept my respect and my thanks for all your hard work. You have just won the 'RexTrex Special Award for almost-2008' if you know what I mean. Thanks team for doing a great job.

Congratulations to all the category winners on your well-deserved results - and to the 'also-ran's' because we couldn't have done this without you too. Well done to you all.

Another great event by the S’s!

I had a bit of a slow start with the “24 caches challenge” – couldn’t find my first choice in Tuggeranong (co-ords were later updated), and then spent 2.5 hours bushwalking / bashing trying to get behind Red Rocks on the other side of the Murrumbidgee! (Well the hint did say “almost posted”, so I figured there may be a post out here somewhere! – there wasn’t) After much searching, I called the help line, and discovered that I was a couple of km away from the proper location! Oh, well, at least I did my bit for Quality Assurance!

At the event it was great to catch up with everyone again, and of course nice to win in one of the categories also!

Thanks again the S’s for organising.

Whoa! What an event. But it was brilliant. Thank you so much, The S's. It is amazing the amount of work you put into organising such an event (and dealing with the late night text messages and drama =P).

Admittedly I have only just woken up after coming home from the event. Time to inspect all the injuries. An amazing collection of events and experiences for two day (but unfortunately I dont think McKenna will let me upload one of the only photos I managed to take - it was of her brilliant achievement at our last cache).

Congratulations to all the award winners. And the cachers from the Bay. I thought it was great that they outdid all the locals.

Thanks heaps,
Gwen

I didn't get a chance to participate in the 24 game piece challenge started off on Saturday but it also sounded like a fun bit of hard work. Well done to the participants, organisers and completers.

And another big thanx to all those I got to chat to. Aren’t us ACT cachers a top lot!!!

Well that was exciting! Given the volume of nominations this year, I certainly wasn't expecting to win anything, so to come home with Best Cache is a tremendous honour. I must say a big thank you to the Tealby B-Team for his assistance in putting Tealby's Revenge together.

Thanks also to The S's (and helpers) for all their hard work putting the event together - the game looked like a very ambitious undertaking & I'm sorry that I couldn't participate.

Great to catch up with everyone again & even meet a few new folks this time around too. Congrats to all the other winners too - and thanks for all the caches that were placed in 2008.

P.S. All being well, I'd like to continue sponsoring the best first cache placement prize, so if you haven't ever placed a cache, I'd encourage you to make your first a goodie!

Firstly, congratulations and very well done to the S’s for organizing yet another brilliant event. Great to meet so many newcomers and old hands too.

As for the 24 game – mixed feelings! I would have to attempt firstly the game pieces down Southside that got corrected later in the day!!!
Having three DNF’s first up threw me (and one that I spent an hour for a DNF too at 6pm), then after the next correction where I was headed, I gave up. BUT, the concept was brilliant, and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the 2 teams (4/5 people?) who managed to find them all – VERY WELL DONE. AMAZING when I heard of some of your exploits. 1am at Corin dam!!!! But thanks to the S’s for their compassion in giving me a wooden spoon consolation prize – thanks.

2008 certainly gave some great caches which were worthy recipients of the awards. Well done to the winners.

Finally, thanks The S’s for another successful annual event.
