The recent CITO reminded me I had a couple of solved puzzles in this area… so today I set about turning them all into smilies….

I arrived at my calculated coords only to discover there was another step… no real surprise… although it took some effort to retrieve the Galactic Coordinates and get the x-wing into the air…

As you might expect I spotted the Death Star on approach… despite it being surrounded by its shield…

Thanks totalube

I always liked the monochromatic colour palette of The Empire…

In the area today for an early morning CITO and afterwards picking up a few caches here and there.
Joined forces with hatzofff, RoddyC, Imbunda & grannysmith1947 as 'The Team Geo'.
Very pleasant walk to this one with our chatty group, and as I've only done two of the required three, I need to return to the north side again soon.

Thank you, General Dodonna, for placing this cache for our benefit and enjoyment ??

Attended an early morning CITO not too far away then off to collect Smilies.

Caching today as Team Geo.
Oh how I hate steps and always seem to find some.
It was not too bad of a walk to GZ until the last 70 mtrs. Cache found log signed and all replaced as found. TFTC

Out for the CITO event and Barb had this one on her target list. She had solved this one not long after it came out (or did she), so today we made our way to the solved co-ords. Had no luck and the co-ords she had put us way to close to a traditional.

Fortunately Barb was able to contact the CO who let us (Barb) know where it was wrong. Buggar, now we have to walk all that way back. We would have passed it on the way in. At least I get my 10000 steps up easy today.

Completed all the steps required to make it to the final. Log signed cache replaced.

TFTC.
After arriving home we pulled the cache notes and worked out what went wrong. I'll have to teach that girl the difference between a plus and minus sign

A caching Sunday with imbunda and hatzofff. After a nearby CITO.

Solved so long ago, it was good to finally have my name on the log sheet.

Log signed and cache replaced as found at 10:03 AM on July 23, 2023. TFTC, totalube

Caching today on the area that needs me to have more smiles.
After the event was over and we headed up to the first find we decided to push up the track to this one.

As we approached a trail head we heard voices and could see fellow caches coming down. Confirming this was the best way to go, I headed up the bush to GZ.

Out caching with The Team Geo RoddyC, imbunda 2ĺckersallan and grannysmith1947.

Out and about this afternoon to pick up a few north side caches on a beautiful sunny winters day in south east Queensland.

Found a safe place to park the car and made my way to ground zero to locate the cache. Didn’t take long before the cache was in hand and pen applied to the log. Returned the cache to its hiding place and trudged back to the car

A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.

Cheers

I came over to this side of town to find a few caches that I had solved.
I started this series almost two years ago and am very happy to have finally found the Death Star. I’ve had the coordinates for what I thought was the final for almost a year and arrived there to find it was the penultimate. After cleaning the tag so that I could read it - it’s been more than a year since last found - I headed the short distance to gz where I found the Death Star and signed the log. Very much a fun series and all good at gz. Tftc

The Death Star
D 3.0 T 2.5 Small Mystery Cache

Caching with karicka in the area after Zac's Community Celebration Event.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here General Dodonna. So lucky to have my name in the log as I've only done 1 of the required 3 caches (now 1 of the one I need is now archived!). Will try and look for the other cache next time I'm caching with someone who hasn't done it.

A few caches with E after an event in the area.
It has taken me a couple of years to arrive at the death star but considering the distances involved its no surprise.
Thanks for the series

Checked cache, some minor repairs, all good to go, the Starfighter is in good condition also.

Please note, you may need a prying tool for extraction from the trench.

This has been quite an epic adventure, much like The Death Star's journey!

After collecting all of the required information over the Christmas break, I made my way to gz where I knew I was looking for some last minute information in order to bring this thing down. After not finding what I was looking for the first time, the second time, or the third time, a little birdie gave me a hint as to what I should be looking for.

Fourth time lucky! Woohoo. Now I know where I need to find the mysterious Death Star! Made my way to gz tackled the Death Star, and like others before me at the very last minute realised I didn't bring a TOTT with me. $%&^!!

Today, on my fifth trip I was able to take down the Death Star at last!! Not a surprise attack by any stretch but a win I will long remember.

Thanks General Dodonna for the challenge, love the cache, a fav from me.

While this was my target cache today, the opportunity to go for a walk and grab another in the area was to great.
Out for an afternoon walk and with some bitching and hair pulling i managed to take the girls with me. Ran into a park ranger and asked if the area is still open for walks "yeah mate, go ahead just keep your social distancing if you see others". sweet so off we set, 5 minutes in and the whining started, 10 minutes and both girls were tired and wanted to turn back. I cracked it and then it was silence for 2 minutes lol. in an hour and a half our walk was over, we had wp for this cache and the finals ready.
First it was off to complete the large monolith cache up the hill before we come back and complete the final for this one.

what am awesome adventure to completing this series of caches and getting to the final. The death star itself is in great condition, no signs of damage from any external forces. It was hard to sign the log as it was missing but a record of our attendance has been noted.

Finally the whining had stopped and it was an old track we followed back to the starting point. I really enjoyed this series and although it was supposed to be done back in January i'm glad i finally got to solve it and finish it.
Thank you for maintaining it and keeping it alive, cheers.
FP from me.

After we deciphered our clue, we boarded the X-Wing, and finally conquered the Death Star. Nicely hidden log, too. Awesome series, thanks for the adventure!

I was in the area and knew 1MinnieMoo was on the hunt for this cache so decided to meet up with her at the finals. I arrived just in time as she had already found the beasty and was signing the log.

Wasting away the afternoon at home with the kiddos when I get a call from
NyssaFlutterby who can't find a particular cache out this way. Well it seemed the perfect excuse really to get out. "Hang on, I'll come on over"!
Of course as Murphy would have it, she found it just after I left the house. Oh well I'm out now, I'll head that way anyway and go find this cache and maybe another one not far from there too.
So over I go and park near Nyssa's car. She was still grabbing one or two others so I began the walk. Got to GZ, or so I thought, and began my search. Hmmm I'm not finding what I'm after. A check of a log mentioned a particular landscape "feature" that was definitely not here. A call to NyssaFlutterby to see if her coords were the same as mine, and during it for some reason I looked at another particular thing a little closer and something seemed "odd". Oh great, I forgot grabby type tools today. But no need to panic, it wasn't so hard to get at all. Gee this blonde hair dye really did seep into the brain cells more this time obviously. But hang on, no logbook, what?!? And while Nyssa was on her way, the penny finally clicked.
And before long all really was revealed, and Nyssa and I got to enjoy the true beauty of the Death Star.
Thanks for the cache General Dodonna, and the entire journey along the way, with all the puzzling involved.

After finding the Secret Rebel Base yesterday, today, I headed to the Death Star. I zeroed in, only to find that I needed to head in another direction. This time, the Death Star was located. I found the weak spot and investigated. There, I found evidence that others had been here before me, but had not gone deep enough to sign the actual log book. Surprised With my name added to the logbook, I placed the piece of paper with the other signatures into the secret chamber, then headed on my way. TFTC

After a couple of weeks stuck indoors with too little exercising, and too much peoplising, I needed to address both issues. This afternoon I hiked nearly 10kms, enjoying the light breeze and lovely trees. And not interacting with a single of them humans. Plenty of birds, an owl even, a few lizards and skinks, one bored wallaby and snake.

My mission to discover and complete this began many a moon ago - 2012 I do believe was when I tracked down the ebullient droid who pointed me towards the beautiful Disney Princess, my favourite Princess since I first met her in 1978 as a ten year old. Sadly she was not at my next location - despite me taking so long to get there, but since that planet was destroyed I was pleased to learn she had hidden away at a nearby secret rebel base - so I rushed right over there and was disappointed to miss her once again. I did get the location of the Death Star though. Today I went to check that out.

Once I was close, I knew I was close, someone told me, and soon I was zeroing in on the final location. I saw a likely hiding spot from a distance, a big tree stump - wait - that's no moon. It's covered in webs - I have a bad feeling about this.

With judicious use of light sabers the death star forecefield was breached, and access to the portal was achieved. At this point I noticed General Grievous and his 8 arms and legs readying to launch a counter attack on me. The Death Star did achieve orbit briefly, and was very nearly irretrievably destroyed, burned, blown up, sucked into a super nova and black hole simultaneously before being bombarded by meteorites and a chemical spray. Finally, with use of the Force a logbook was signed, returned and the Death Star resumed it's normal orbit waiting for the next movie. And the one after that. Left with an extra side to the stump added for muggle protection.

I never did find my princess out here. She has gone. Two years ago. I missed her.Twisted

Thanks General Dodonna for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #6309}* Cool

After visiting the secret rebel base we quickly worked on solving the location of the Death Star. Some crafty technological skills from Asciii saved the day.
Finally today I found myself with the correct attire and 30 mins spare, so I went in search.
I had a pretty good idea of where I needed to venture as I run the trails here regularly. My planned route was thwarted by a revegetation sign so I went the long way round. Soon enough I found some interesting geological markers but no sign of the death star. Time was ticking away and my phone kept pinging saying I was at GZ. Argh!
Just as I was about to give up I spy what I needed. Armed with the new info, I was quickly off. Spotted that dreaded death star from afar but alas I have 5 mins to get back to the car so I will have to come back another day to destroy it and leave my mark.
Very cool. A favourite point awarded. Will bring the mini geocachers back with me to share in the fun.

A long time ago (over 2 years) in bush land not so far away, Club Chackas began the search for the Death Star....

Finally today I made time to finish of the search. From memory, R2D2 was an easy find but due to come poor note taking (or poor photography skills) the clues to the Death Star were lost. A few months ago I made a revisit to all associated caches to try and collect the parts I was missing.

Jump forward to today and I had an opportunity to do a bit of bush walking on a beautiful sunny morning. As expected the final trek was not as straight forward as expected and a further bush bash was needed to reach the elusive home of Master Vader. No logbook at GZ but there was a band-aid with another Cachers name on it so I dropped our moniker underneath that one.

TFTC and the series. All very well thought out and although it took me 2 years to complete I'm sure it really would have been a nice way to spend a day caching around the Northside Hills Area. FP awarded.

Earlier today the geodaughter and I had a "loose" plan to reach 1000 finds but the real priority was lunch at Samford Valley. We were happy to let the caching cards fall where they may and let the force guide us. The morning session revealed all the clues to the location of the Death Star and a plan was formed to find it. I shouldn't have had that glass of wine at lunch.

We had already had quite a struggle getting to Personal Colour Computer and the Death Star was only 400m down a gentle slope with no track in sight. Normally a gentle slope is one you can skip down holding your geo partners hand, but in this case it was an evil calamity of filth and despair. Not even Darth Vader would wish this trek on any rebel scum.

200m to go and the downward slope turned into the upward slope from lantana hell. My daughter was really struggling with a busted foot and I suggested we call it off. Let's follow the creek bed down and out of here. But amazingly that little tenacious beeyarch said, "we are so close, let's push on". If she was ready to do the hard yards then so was I.

All I could see was lantana, and no clear path up the steep slope. It was too far to travel around it so I just decided I needed to be a human mulching machine. I grabbed the spikes, snapped branches and made a clear straight path for my daughter to follow. No time for pussy-footing around. The first cut may be the deepest, but the second cut on top of the first hurts like sh&t. In the end I couldn't feel the spikes and cuts but I knew when I jumped in the shower next I was in for more pain than one of my teenage kids finding my wallet.

It must have taken us 30-40 minutes to travel the final 400m and when we arrived our excitement was smashed into smithereens (just like the Death Star was about to be) when we found we had to go further. This milestone cache was making us work for it. I had lied too many times to my daughter about their being no more hills.

Finally we spotted the Death Star and our hard slog of a journey was complete. In hindsight it was really good to put in the effort to achieve something.

Where was the log sheet? I had a pocket knife and loosened the cache but there was no log. I hadn't walked through a lantana land mine to miss this. I had some paper that I had been working out coords on but had left that in the car. The only thing I had were some bandaids from the first aid kit. Not only is there an new log sheet in place, it may also save your life.

There was blood, cuts, scratches, cuddles, tears, swear words, tenacity and pride and a awesome day spent with my geomate. I don't think she will be in a hurry to come out caching with me anytime soon unless I say "eclipse tins in roadside barriers". A favourite point awarded here for the series. tftc

12/3/17, 10:26 am Find #1812

I have been sitting on the coordinates for months and today I found myself in the area.

After my last find, I decided to head up the hill instead of following the winding track but then I found that I had to head straight back down again.

I spotted the cache from some distance away and it was a very impressive container. I had my work cut out opening it though as I had brought no tools and it had rusted shut. But I got there in the end.

This one deserves a favourite point.

My travels have taken me to the frozen wastelands of Hoth, the steamy jungles of Endor and Alderaan, and the baking deserts of Tattoine and Jakoo. After some careful interrogation using a variety of methods, the location of the Death Star was revealed and a course was set.

Today was a fine day to find and destroy the Death Star, it seems to have accumulated a wealth if something called Favourite Points, which qualify me for a pretty souvenir today.

The X-wing pointed me in the right direction and the new improved Death Star was easily located. It took a moment for the weak point to be revealed before I could access the trench that would lead to its ultimate demise. Thanks for a great mission!

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #2648. Thanks **General Dodonna** for showing us this spot. Discover our code TGQNRV, and mention where you saw it.

Now witness the fire power of this fully armed and operational battle station!

29-Oct-15
The Rebel Alliance has struck a blow against the Galactic Empire. A small band of X-Wings lead by Pilot "SwellerFungus" ran along this trench to a small thermal point, beneath the main point, and even though it was ray shielded managed to land a Photon Torpedo that started a chain reaction that destroyed the station.

There are rumors that SwellerFungus may have some "force" that helps him and questions about a senior Imperial seen leaving the stations before it's demise, something about having the same last name. Wink

It will be rebuilt and from this vantage point and with the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station, will see an end to the Alliance and your insignificant Rebellion!

P.S If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Mr Fett, please let him know I may have a job for him Razz

Captains Log. Stardate 13564: We sent an away team led by Spock....oh wait - wrong franchise...

On approach to this Quadrant it was obvious there had been a disturbance in the Force. Dark, the forest was. Burning there had been. Troubled, I was.

At my marked coordinated I thought all was lost, but finally my R2 unit whistled that something unusual could be seen. Probing with my light sabre I managed to free it from the clothes of the evil beast that held it. Survived it had, and further I must go.

As much as I would like to claim that I destroyed the Death Star for the rebels, I must confess it was far greater forces that caused this much damage. All I can say is that what little remained is now being reassembled by the imperial overlord (Lord Lube) to once again cause havoc and grief across the solar system.

An enjoyable ramble on an overcast day - thanks for the cache.

After yesterday's journey to the secret rebel base, had everything to work out the death star's coordinates. Deciphered all the clues and locked in a quadrant of the galaxy for today's encounter. The force won out in the end!!

Completing my mission on capturing and destroying the death star. Its been a great journey too.

I parked my space vehicle in the space dock and unloaded the space geodog to assist in my quest. We reached the first port and extracted what was needed from the exhaust port and made a direct hit... having said that it did take a little bit of interrogation to locate the actual incedinary device.

Armed and ready, I proceeded at the speed of light to the last known location of the Death Star. All was quiet on approach and I as steathly as I could I lined it up my range of sight to destroy the Death Star - BOOM!

However. Im a geocacher and in true geocaching style... I retrieved the container, and armed with my pen I..... signed a log sheet.. LOL

TFT Series totalube!

Second last cache for the day, and a regrettable DNF. After two other "walky" caches this morning I was ready to quit when I saw the path before me to GZ. I sat down at the trailhead and fiddled around with my GPS fr a minute then thought "What the hey, it's just a hill." Long story short I got up the hill, down to GZ and hmmm, well you know how it ends. Gave up after about 45 minutes, thinking I must have made an error in the calculation. Have rechecked my answer since and it works out the same as the waypoint on my GPS. Oh well, I will be back!

I turned this Saga into another saga. Maybe a year or more ago, I visited R2 but failed to 'take note', so I had to return for that. Then I think I did OK with the other caches along the way, but somehow my final 'translator' droid was not at all up to the task, and I had to guess digits.
Guessing digits in the 'deep space' of this bushland is unwise (in case you hadn't known that) and so one afternoon I wrapped up an old computer-based cache not far, far away and decided to come straight across to my guesstimated coords (which looked excellent on the map, I must say.). This resulted in some of the worst gully-leaping and lantana-bashing I've ever had to do. After all that, my guesstimate was woefully off.
I sought some clarification from the Jedi master, and yes, I was on the right track, but needed a better translator, as I'd predicted. Very shortly, I had a great destination in hand, but when I charged back up there recently, it all came unstuck as The death star went into stealth mode and I found nothing.
I went back to Yoda and it seems this time it was just the Maths Excelsior droid at fault (otherwise known as M.E.). Today that teensy weeny boo-boo was rectified and my X-wing roared up the track yet again. This time I made the first rendezvous easily (dang, I was close last time) before zipping down to finish the job and leave the Death Star a burning heap... So to speak.
I see that this one was somewhat unloved until today, but I can report that another visitor will still be able to sign up with no great dramas. TFTC and series which was a lot of fun, and the problems with completion were all my own work, that's for sure.
PS Tinda14 mentioned recently he's never seen the Star Wars series (gasp!) so we'll have to remedy that. I also have some action figures in a secure area he may be interested in viewing...

I has taken me ages to solve this last one and a couple of nights ago I finally got some coordinates, thanks to a hint. Just was not sure how to do this type of puzzle.
I got a message from Rebel Alliance to fire up my rocket ship.
I took it for a spin first. Weeeee. Oops sorry, just doing a few loop de loops to see how it handles.
Glad I don't need a licence to fly one of these. Now to check out the hardware. There goes a bit of space junk. Fire! Blew it to smithereens. All set now. Hear we have some enemies about. Their mother ship is hovering nearby and it is a bit narrow to get to. I better have a practice run somewhere else before I do the real thing. Weeeee that was fun. Bit like the Grand Canyon, ( I flew in while watching on 3D screen at Dream World) I know I have to pull up sharply at the end to not cop the flack from the explosion.
Here we go. Fly in low, keep it steady. Target ahead. Big fat Death Star. Aim straight. Fire! and Fire! Kaboom. Pull up and up. Must get away. Reported to Rebel Alliance target annihilated and challenge complete.

After grabbing some of the prequel caches last weekend and grabbing the rest today it was off to the final instalment to put the series in carbonite. Captain Terror and I were trying to work out a few caches to get today. We wanted something fun, with good d/t rating, and not just another drive by. It wasn't long before we found this little mini series and decided it fitted perfectly. This was to be our last cache for the day as well as we were rapidly losing light and dinner was beckoning.

We parked the subaru in a very safe and obvious spot and set off. I don't know if it was just me being tired but this walk really took it out of me. The Captain ended up carrying our water so I wasn't carrying anything which helped a fair bit.

Soon we were at GZ.. NO!!! ... I swear I could have killed you! Oh well, keep going Net. We were soon at GZ... no really, we were this time. I sent the Captain forward to do the work and soon he presented me with a logbook. We signed our names and the cache got replaced in a hopefully dry way. We made our way back to the car and drove off to find the Rolla. Thanks for the cache and the series Totalube. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

I am perhaps the only soul in the developed world who has not seen any of the Star Wars saga. A little research though shows there is somewhat of a popular following around the series - it must be somewhat decent. Looking into the Death Star though reminded me of the discovery of 'Mimas', a moon of Saturn. Google it, you'll see why.

It also reminded me of this clip - the mathematics behind actually building a working super laser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDL0KAm9Cbs

So having visited R2-D2, been to the doomed planet of Alderaan and discovered the Secret Rebel Base, Net88 and I were out to disarm the Death Star (..run by Geoff Vader?). It was getting late in the day, although we figured we may be able to grab a few geocaches in the area as we went - it turned out not to happen though.

We had parked the Subaru Starship in the most obvious spot and we headed off. I'm not sure why I didn't expect the track to be so hilly, but it seemed oddly tiring after a longish day. We plugged on. Not far in I found a plastic dinosaur on the track that I decided needed to belong to the geocache. It wasn't until quite some distance later the path was going thee wrong way, so we bush bashed a bit and wound up on another path - made things easier than they could have been though.

Onwards and upwards we arrived at the equatorial trench and with further instruction, headed for the exhaust port. Thankfully this was a lot easier than I suspected it could have been. I know Net was happy there was not as much uphill from here.

Some more walking, more bush bashing and the Core was in our sight. I got sent forth to grab the container. Inside was pretty wet, so I poured it out and let things dry while we did what needed to be done. The logbook was dry though and got signed. With that all done, a drink/breather had we replaced everything back inside - plus the pink sauropod and replaced in a way that I think will keep it dry. Now just back to the car. Mission complete, saga ended, galaxy saved! A great way to spend a day and I'll hand out a favourite point for the series. TFTC General 'totalube' Dodonna Smile

Had been working our way towards this cache for about a year. We found the required clue late last year, and took a while to decipher. Had given up on calcs until I discussed with Swellerfungus who suggested I was on the right track. Thanks
Anyway, with the required calculations made, Greatjustgreat and I were off for a great Autumn afternoon bushwalk. Waypoint marker found with no too much trouble, and cache discovered intact.
Thanks for a great series, Geoson (and I) enjoyed each instalment.
Favourite point pending.

What an epic this one was! After finding the many pre-requisite cache's for this cache, and also solving the required puzzle, off we went today to collect our prize.

Went to coordinates, and couldn't find much, but then we saw something. Let me just say we had a hell of a time getting that thing out of there! Had to use a stick to pry it loose - all good in the end though.

Another quick walk through the bush and the death star was found! Smile Great container. Pulled the lid off tipped it upside down and a bit of yellow liquid came out... first thought was someone needed somewhere to relieve themselves (yuk!)... however, there was a bit of rainwater and a yellow highlighter in there, so I'm guessing that was the culprit Smile

Signed log, emptied all the water out, and put everything back in place. Great puzzle, great series - very happy! Favourite point from me. TFTC totalube.

Found all prerequisite caches for this puzzle and Matt solved this puzzle for the coordinates Smile. Actually Matt did all the work for the other prerequisite caches too. Good thing for Wookiee Smile.

Walking along the trail, Matt said I think we might have to bush bash to GZ (again!). So we started to bush bash our way then found a trail Smile. Got to GZ and guessed where it might be. Matt said it can't be the cache as it's stuck! I checked the logs and saw that it's meant to be a WP so Matt renewed his effort to get it out. He eventually got it out and we plugged the final coordinates into the GPS.

More walking and we soon got to GZ and found the Death Star Smile. Awesome container Smile. It was filled with yellow liquid that we think is from the yellow highlighter + rainwater. Logbook is dry & fine Smile.

Did not see the Team Firesafe Geocoin #16 trackable Sad. We picked up the Spicy Travel Bug #2 trackable to clean up and move along. Found with Matt_Eth Smile. TFTH totalube.

This was a successful but slow and steady achievement. Started off badly by having to revisit R2D2 but after that we gathered all the required information ready for the big battle. Many words were had before we ventured out to this one. (What way would be best?? Sad ) Maybe splitting up may have been wise to surprise Death Star. Half way up we changed our mind and bush bashed for awhile. Surprised to find a waypoint and not the cache but with new coordinates off we set again....not far now. Great series and thank you for the education, we have learnt a lot. Big Grin

After much huffing and puffing with geokids, we located the cache and were pleased to find it in good order.

Thanks for the series totalube it was lots of fun.. Big Grin

After applying the offset to the wrong cache (Death Star Mk1.5 GC3F7ZA) and spending 2 hours in completely the wrong forest, I managed to gather my thoughts and apply my deciphered offsets to the correct cache!

Thanks to Wedge Antillies. He was a key part in navigating to the Death Star...

Out and about today with Brother Colin.

A while ago I discovered both R2D2 and Princess Leia, so I was able to visit the Secret Rebel Base and extract the final data required to plan my assault on the Death Star. Some serious thinking was necessary to reveal the whereabouts of my Starfighter, but WP1 was soon discovered. Great! Another puzzle solved :) Now to find some time to make the journey >.<

Today was a day for completing some puzzle caches, and BC kindly agreed to tag along. I located my Starfighter, which was in desparate need of a good clean, and did some practice runs. We then made our way to the Death Star, I maneuvered the Starfighter into position and BOOOOOOMMMMM!!!! Mission accomplished!!!!!!!!!!!

TFTC, totalube, and the series. Always a pleasure, and so good for the little grey cells Very Happy

Find #117. Found 10/12/2011 @2:35:00 PM.

Having retrieved information from R2-D2, Alderaan and the good people at the Secret Rebel Base, the location of The Death Star was determined on the fly (thanks General Google). Ah, we have visited that sector of space many times. We made the approach from a different angle in order to confuse the Imperials. Swooped, and BAM! Death Star destroyed!

Thanks for an entertaining series!

Today I headed off for the final confrontation with the Death Star under the cover of an approaching galactic storm. Smile

I soon passed my flying course for the X-wing fighter (with a much better navigation system than what I have been using on the Millenium falcon Big Grin) and was able to head straight to the Death Star and deal with it in the appropriate fashion. Big Grin BOOM! Big GrinBig Grin

Left a Geocoin. Smile

Thanks for this series. I had a lot of fun and also learnt quite a bit about this type of puzzle cache. Smile

Found with GhostGums, Gunnie, Kaisho and ModelBear during a day out on the Dark Side.

Sorry about the very late/cut'n'paste/my-memory-has-faded log. Shame on me Surprised

Thanks for the cache GD. Cheers, svn07

The team of Stormtroopers (Gunnie69, SVN07, Ghostgums, Modelbear & I) having successfully breached the rebel base earlier today are now armed with requisite information..

Setting out for here we approached from 2 quadrants just to confuse the defenders - arriving @ WP1 we soon susssed the additional codes required and moved out enmass in the hunt for the DeathStar...

Success was soon achieved and the star was boarded thanks to the eagle eyes of SVN07 who spotted the breach in the defence shields...

Thanks totalube for the cache...

Arriving back on earth SVN07 seemed to have a moment before totally readjusting to terran gravity as she attempted a quick slide down the slope at one point

We obtained some critical information after discovering the Secret Rebel Base, which was then plugged into the on board navigational computers, and resulted in a series of numbers that could possibly be the location of the infamous Death Star.

We arrived to find a fleet of X wing fighters, who had an updated position of the Death Star. We joined the fight and it was SVN07 who was given the task of flying into the trench. As we all said may the force be with you. SVN07 fearlessly guided her craft in and with one push of the button scored a direct hit!

The remaing members of the fighter wing cleaned up the remains and we were then off for our next adventure.

Cache found while hunting with Gunnie69, SVN07, Kaisho53 and modelbear.

It’s been a while since I last visited this patch of bush. In fact, it was for the Corroboree event only a few months after I started caching... Surprised

Back to day with Ghostgums, Kaisho53, Svn07 and Modelbear, we went in search the Death Star. We arrived at the calculated GZ and were not expecting what we came across... Another Totalube twist to make it interesting... We worked around it though and set about finding the container. Taking varying approaches, svn07 forged ahead and found the cool container... [^]

All suitable impressed, we passed the log around and contemplated a safe route away from the ship. Naturally, we found ourselves on the slightly longer return path but made it back to our origin eventually... [B)]

Cheers Totalube.

Having fought and survived the initial battles on the hunt for the Death star, we finally joined the assault team of Ghostgums, Svn07, Kaisho53 and Gunnie69. We started on separate approaches to the target, met up at the last reported location of the Death star, and then proceeded to mount a joint renewed assault on the base. The Death star was soon located and dealt with appropriately.

Thanks for this great series and the call to arms.
May the force continue to be with you.

Wow brand new log book. Once the offsets were decoded an easy walk to GZ good hide in first leg. Thanks for the great series have enjoyed doing all caches

New log book in place and the Death Star has been dried out.

Come on Cachers from the Rebel Alliance, this battle station is fully operational again Wink

I navigated to this one from Monolith. Yet again another twist in the tail...

The Death Star was visible from a couple of meters away. I had the mouldy log in hand at 1600. Not sure how the moisture got into this one??

Thanks for a great series, Totalube Smile

We finally made it to the end of the series! Have had the finals for a while now and finally turned this into a smiley Big Grin. Loki the navigationally challenged definitely took the hard way but there were no incidents and the cache was discovered safe and sound. The log book is dry but mouldy. Still completely usable! Took the easy way out of course Wink. Thanks totalube

I found this clever cache before the "Rebellious Brunch" with Rebel Acts, La Kedi and some other stragglers.

I did get a little assistance with the final GZ but "Mr R Acts" assured me that it was the thing to do on the morning of a "Rebellious Brunch". (sorry I have to blame it one peer pressure)

TFTC Mr Lube. TNLNSL

Hopefullly one day my trackable Imperial Storm Trooper travel bug (TB3J97G) comes to visit this cache and the other surrounding Star Wars related caches. I may have to update his mission and make him return from the other side of the proverbial ditch.

The path to "The Death Star" has been disable for 2 wheeled vehicles Wink. But on foot it is fine. Although the area is overgrown it doesn't appear that any controlled burning will be in this area. I dried it out and it ready for finding.

at 11:51. The very long saga has ended successfully. Thanks very much for the series Totalube.

The cache is in good order.

The powers that be are trying to close the track that leads in the required direction by covering the first few meters with branches which we had to scramble round.

At long last I've found it !!! Great series Totalube thanks for the effort to put it together. It's was getting late and the sun was sinking. I thought I may have to give up or not find the way back. Just as I was about to give up, there it was !!! Thanks again. TNLNSL

My second attempt at locating the Death Star started the way the last one ended - a lot of endless searching through far galaxies strewn with debris on misguided coordinates. Fortunately the evil Lord Canetoad was no where in sight. In exasperation I entered the alternate coordinates into my guidance system and found the entry portal only meters from where I had set up base camp. With the final coords entered into the system my Stafighter, copiloted by the geohound, headed straight for the Death Star and foiled all attempts by the Imperial City Council to conceal the path. The joy was immense as I spotted the target from a distance - finally after 10 months of searching it was mine!

Thanks for this amazing series. It was a difficult, frustrating, dangerous mission - which made the completion all the more satisfying and worthwhile.

Minor maintenance (thanks to wingaap). I must say that the rebel's attack of the trench made me miss the turnoff Red Face. All is in order, but plenty more camouflage than when I hid it.

Mission complete: 0600 Earth Date 31012009.
Average Approach Velocity for journey: 20,000,000 mm/hr
Distance travelled: 18,956,000 mm

Observations: Death Star fighter turret separated from main craft prior to location and targeting. Possible troops in vessel could be in need of repairs. Fallen Eucalyptus class vessels now in state of decay. Kookaburra class vessels still laughing – I fear they have gone over to the Dark Side.

After Action Review of previous mission failure determined Death Star had used cloaking device on vital coordinates. Confirmed by recent attacks.

Secondary mission:
Night creatures eliminated on return journey. Unfortunately the remaining missile eliminated a children’s playground on a cosy corner before geocycle class vessel returned to base.
All crew members now resting at sunny beach location.

Well, at long last I've finished the series. Like 'wingaap', I had trouble deciding on one number and the second choice was the correct one. I started this one quite some time ago.....seemed like a good day to finish the series off.

Geeesh it was hot tramping though the bush this morning. I wish I had read the cache description before heading off.

Found, not what I thought I was looking for, and headed off.
I did have a little trouble deciphering one of the numbers.
I thought it was one thing...but it could have been something else.
Armed with what I needed...I headed out. At point A, I searched for some 30mins before deciding that the other number might indeed be correct.
Oh yes it was...some 40m away I really found what I was looking for. Hmmm sorta looks familar Wink

Thanks Totalube really enjoyed the series Smile

After finally extracting the required attack coordinates I set flight for the approach trench. Razz Pausing to arm the missiles I was keen to complete the destruction prior to dusk. The devastation of the fighting from the November attacks floated all around me.Surprised

Unfortunately General Dodonna I have to report the Death Star eluded all attempts to locate it late this afternoon.[:(!] Apparently even with its size, the forces of evil seem to have enabled a cloaking device. [?]

All X-wing fighters returned to base without harm. The skybirds were heard laughing at our retreat. There is enormous devastation in this galaxy. Many long serving eucalyptus craft have been destroyed,Twisted others have fallen and are still trying to offer shoots from their horizontal position. I fear the Death Star's terrible November attacks still have the potential to cause raging fire throughout the sector as time moves on.Twisted

ruzzelz must first visit the repair shop to rearm his attack vehicle and seek additional instructions before mountain biking for a return assault.[8)]

After fuelling up and gathering some supplies yesterday after my visit to the Rebel base i thought i was set to head off on my mission to destroy the Death Star.Wink

Last flight checks - Wingman, Hyperspace offset, X-Wing refuelled - Check.

Stopped at 'Hum, Whir, Gurgle' on the way and picked up a Sherpa coin to help guide me on my mission.

My approach was swift and smooth and as i powered back down from light speed to coast speed i noticed there were still quite a few obstacles accross the final approach, luckily my wingman was an experienced Starfighter pilot.

Arriving at the drop zone and we couldn't locate the ventilation shaft as decribed. Wedge did some quick recalculations and realized that the 'Dirty Rat Merchant'
who sold us the X-Wing had reprogramed the fighters GPS to be out by about 300m.

My droid did some 'on-the-fly' repairs and we were back on course.

Found the shaft and let fly with a dustructive little 'Team Firesafe GC' depth charge. Results were catostrophic to say the least.

Death Star is now in the hurt locker, but i'm sure they will rebuild and will need to be attacked again - SOON!

Thanks for this series of hunts, definately the most enjoyable i have seen yet. (massive golf claps)

I grew impatient with the lack of progress in the rebel camp in finding and destroying the death star [:o]
Until this battle station was fully operational, it was vulnerable Razz
I had the coordinates for the start of the attack, the pushbike was equipped with the proton torpedo needed. After the recent destruction of the planetoid Gaapwestobrizzie a couple of weeks ago by this Imperial menace I could wait no longer for this final mission Big Grin
As I approached the trench the awsome destructive power of this station was obvious [:o]
The run along the trench was clear and I soon neared the target Razz
A quick jink of my Bike-fighter and I was on course to the reactor shaft Big Grin
On the final approach I found myself ignoring the guidance system and entered a trance like state. A feeling of calmness I haven't felt since tasting a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster Razz
"Use the forks If" I heard a ghostly voice say [:o]
"Why ?" I replied. "I'm not on the mountain bike anymore, but the adjustable front forks do make the ride more comfortable." Red Face
I could have done with that advice on the ride along the trench !!
A quick look around at GZ and I spied the Death Star's weakness and released the 'TB Talking Fun' travel bug at the precise moment and watched it drop into the reactor shaft Smile
From within the Death Star I watched 'Kelly M's 1st Pincourt Sparks Japan Official Geocoin' appear. I quickly rescued it as I made my escape form the ensuing explosion Big Grin
After a successful series of missions, I could head back home again on the 'Dark Side' of Brisbane Razz

Recent severe storms may have caused damage to this cache. Even if the cache is safe, the area may be a danger as it is strewn with fallen trees and debris and should be avoided. The cache will be inspected as soon as it is possible to do so..

As usual with our clan, it took a return visit to find the Death Star - too much enemy fire the first time. Geofiveyearold had a great adventure with this one. I was Princess Leia and he was Luke Skywalker (naturally). We tried stealthily approaching so as not to warn the Imperial Forces - but they still managed to bombard us (Oh, that was probably the rain - freaky weather today - sunny one minute, pouring the next). We won in the end.

There was a much quicker way in than the one we took, but exercise was the name of the game today. And we certainly got plenty of that!

Swapped torches. Dropped GC. Thanks for an amazing series.

Entered the coordinates, did final flight check and took off with great excitement and A New Hope. Unfortunately the Death Star must have been hiding behind a planet or two and was not located. Mission failed and X Wing fighter stalled, spun, crashed and burned.

01-Nov-08
As I set out this morning, I hoped mine would be the first strike on the Death Star but it wasn't to be. A night time attack by the sleepless one had rendered the Star immobile and my assault merely dented the log. TFTC and a great series.

After careful calculations were entered my craft zeroed in for I think number three hit on The Death Star at about 13:00 from above, skimming the surface of a rugged trench. Memories of the bad old days on a TY250 came flooding back. Great fun in the right environment.

SL. Thanks tGeneral for the adventure. A quick nip of 'a strong galactic drink' on the homeward journey was hard to resist but alas I'm still recovering. Thanks.

Found this afternoon. Maryan discovered that the mission was not without danger as she was bitten by a green ant and bravely fought off a spider taking a ride on her hat. Despite the danger we pressed on and succeeded in the mission, locating the Death Star. Thanks for a fun series! Andrew and Maryan.

*FTF* @ ~11pm

When the notification for this cache came out we were having a halloween party so I was a bit worried that I might miss out on the finale. But, by the time cousins and aunts and uncles and nannas and granddads were off bundled off home there was still no log so... maybe.

What a perfect night... it really was a black as space. I raced up the hill following the arrow and sure enough myself follow a trench up the hill. Having found the path on the way back I don't know if that was deliberate or not, but at the time it seemed very appropriate. Final co-ords I ran off to do battle. My targeting computer was all over the place and in the dark a meter might as well be a parse so I shut it off and tried to think like a cacher.

A very cool cache and a fun first to find price. My girls still play with it but they're under the impression it's a space ship rather than a droid. Close I guess. Thanks for the cache totalube. Is there there a stat for last to log? Smile
