Logs

June 2008

8th Found it livandmez Interesting cache! Although everything seemed to be sealed properly, the cache was full of water. The log was still able to be signed though. TFTC. LivandMez.
8th Disabled Fore! I have to say that I am completely disappointed with the state I found this one in today - I did expect that the outer container might get some seepage, but the inner one is supposed to do the trick.

Perhaps the outer container wasn't buckled down properly by the recent visitors, and the inner one wasn't sealed correctly, unfortunately. Sad

Anyway, so this one has to be offline until I can think of something a little more foolproof...

...a disappointed Fore!
8th Found it allrounder Found @ 2:45pm with Shadow!

Unfortunately the outside container was full of water. In addition, the inside container also had water in it as did the ziplock bag.

I don't think the containers were closed properly when last replaced.

Fore! was with us so we removed the cache for fixing.

Great idea though!

TFTC!

8th Did not find it Tealby Now I don't feel so bad about my DNF - coz it wasn't there! I arrived just on dusk, which made it a little trickier & that was going to be my excuse, but now I don't need it. Nevertheless, I did have a valiant attempt & probably ventured to areas that were totally unnecessary in the process! Hopefully this cache will be reincarnated - all reports appear to have been so positive.
8th Found it Shadow! Found with Huxley and allrounder - pity about the sinking of the ship!
1st Found it mightybent I found this cache with Mrs Bent and the new 4 day old babybent. I am not sure how much babybent enjoyed his first cache as he was asleep the whole time but Mrs Bent and I enjoyed the short walk from where we had been staying. I had been savinf this cache till after babybent's big day!

Nice hide. The contents were dry. Thanks 4.

31st Found it CacheUsIfYouCan! On our way to lunch, we decided to grab this one. Found quickly. Cool cache. Made sure to wash our hands before lunch, though. Found with Makissa. TFTC.
28th Found it Merekats #180 - A pleasant stroll around the Lake Calvary. A touch of fishing, a jot of reading ...Very pleasant, that's fore! shore Wink
27th Found it Anonymous
22nd Found it lattejed Quick find after a quick circumnavigation of the waterways. Contents were dry, but the outside container had a small amount of water which we dried out. TFTC.
17th Found it BigON Wow, now there's something completely different. Easy enough find and only a little water onboard at 15:00 hrs, I'm glad to see that it didnt leak much between then and when TraineeDiplomat found it. Left a GC.
TFTC and the interesting hide.
17th Found it Green Fairy I decided to take a walk to this cache ... big mistake as the heavens opened right at the furthest point from home! Oh well, luckily the cache was worth it. Another great idea Fore!
17th Found it traineediplomat Got to GZ and knew what I was looking for after a couple of similar caches in the past.

Found the necessary equipment and duly retrieved and signed log.

Cache was a little wet inside but emptied. Logbook was bone dry.

GOSH IT'S COLD TODAY...was about 7 degrees at 1700!!!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
15th Found it Alansee I really liked this one. There is a similar one in Melbourne but it hasn't been found for years and is surely gone. As others have found a little moisture appears to get in but otherwise all is absolutely fine. A fun cache to do and another excellent Fore! piece of work.
13th Found it chatmanais Thought id ride down and check this one out tonight. After a miscalculation on my behalf before actually turning the gps on, it was soon remedied and i was on my way to gz... hmm i wonder if this will require getting my feet wet. Fortunately i managed to stay dry and found the cache. Log book is fine and dry, swag is slightly moist. A nice cache hide, different from the usual suspects around this area. TFTC.

Took Nemo: TB L: Nothing - my repacking skills need work, didnt have anything small enough.
12th Found it McPhan 1119. Allergy wanted to do another tree climbing cache at night so on the way to the nearby cache fitting that description we headed to this one with her friend Dia. Stumbled around in the dark for a while until we got to GZ. By torchlight it was interesting but found fairly quickly. Very well constructed hide - well done.

TFTC and the night-time fun.

10th Found it Canberra_bushwalker An easy find just before sunset. Novel idea for a hiding spot... TNLN, thanks.
6th Found it Bewilderbeest Ever since the did the landscaping work, I've been wondering when someone would hide a cache here.

There were a couple of spots of rain as I left home, but by the time I got to GZ it had cleared...after all, you wouldn't want to get wet doing this cache!

Thanks Fore! a very well thought out cache, certainly a bit different to the usual.

Took GC, left Nemo TB for a swim...disappointed not to find Tankengine's pathtag still here. Oh well.

5th Found it AusCan1965 363 - This was a nice convenient cache to do on the way to work.

I can't imagine what the people driving by thought at seeing me with a towel over my shoulder heading towards the pond - 'swimming?? there??'

A very nice concept and of course well executed by Fore! - Well Done and thanks - a very interesting and fun cache this one...

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....
4th Found it StevenWill Loved this hide, was great in that my son found this first and could retrieve this and was he impressed. Great idea and well done. Thank you for the unique cache.
4th Found it Tankengine I thought I knew where this one would end up - but I was wrong! Fancy that, I never knew this place was here! Love the hide too - well done! Took nothing, left a pathtag. Thanks Fore!
4th Found it Sol de lune Woo Hoo - knew someone would come up with this style sooner rather than later. And no surprise who was it was. Smile

A great little cache, great hide and great fun. You may be able to improve it, but I have no idea how!! Thought the whole concept was great.

Took nothing, (but a big grin) left nothing and thanks for cache that is one of a kind......fore! now. Wink

Cheers,
4th Noted Tankengine He he he - well there is at least one other cache like that in Canberra! - And I've found at least one other one in the ACT like that! (I'm thinking this is the third). But still - they are few and far between, and always a nice surprise!
3rd Found it BeveJo Found at 9:45am.... I thought it would be to late for a FTF but as usual the geohound needed a walk and this one was only 1.5k from home, so off we went. A bit of a look around and the cache was in hand. I tried to not let the geohound go in after it because Fore! knows who would have to go in next Smile....
Took both coins and left a TB. TF!TC
3rd Found it mtbikeroz Well done BeveJo.
I arrived on the scene at 11:30 am, with the words of the UMP ringing in my mind all morning - No Fore!casting. I was wondering just what this cache was all about. As I approached, I thought, Oh No, but that turned out to be not the place.
An easy find, LIKE IT. Signed log, then took a while to make sure all contents were in, closed, zipped and velcroed, clicked and clamped shut, then cast it i..., er, placed it in. Thanks Fore! for another good cache.
3rd Found it albida33 I imagine there is a purpose to this pond, but I think caching is a good one. I loke the setup, seems good to me. No GCs by the time I was there, third I think. Thanks.

3rd Found it Captain Tomato Found 4:25pm with Secretsqirrel-BJC.

Saw this one early this morning but had to wait until after we had completed our other planned caches today. Enjoyed the concept (I'm sure there are many other local cachers that have thought of this idea but haven't come up with the goods yet - myself included).

Thanks Fore!
3rd Found it SecretSquirrel-BJC 815 4:25pm with Captain Tomato
