Description

This is an amazing place to visit, if you have not been there do yourself a favour and go, so much to see! If you have been there before I am sure you have not seen half of what is on offer.

Small cache in a less frequented spot but still attracts its fair share of muggles so be careful.

Please make sure to put plenty of camo over it.

Time to go.

It's clearly been a long time since this was found ... the container is just coated in mud and worms but the log book is completely sodden with pages stuck together. That said, I managed to scrawl my moniker on the one page where it opened. TFTC but some TLC is required.

I was here for the event to say goodbye to AlphaDeltaIndigo, who is moving to Melbourne. Zonic and I were her a months or so ago and did not make the find, but were worried about missing the ferry, so did not put the big effort into it. Today, I came up with phlphotos and I had a replacement container, just in case. No need though, as some extra digging resulted in the find. The insides were wet. the log was damp, but not impossible to sign. TFTC

Nice historic location; am visiting from WA. TFTC!
Beware of angry gulls protecting their eggs & chicks.
Note some water inside container, log book damp slightly.

Came here while I had some time off work but then got delayed in logging the cache. Picked one of tge sindiest days to come to the island good job I am a bit overweight otherwise I might have been blown over a few times. Got squawked at by so many gulls that were starting to nest in the strangest spots. Worked my way around GZ until I found the spot where the cache was hidden. In the past 6 months the spot had filled with leaf litter and water. The cache was also full of water which i tried out as much as I could I took out a number of rusty things from the cache & put them in the bins at Pyrmont. Although the cache was full of water the log was dry, apart from my fingerprints as they weren't quite dry. Signed the log & put it back where I got it from but not quite so deep in the leaf litter. Thanks for the cache rogerw3

TFTC,
After spending last Australia Day on Pinch Gut (Fort Denison), I was looking for something in the city again this year and some time ago I thought about caching on Cockatoo Island for the day. The plan was hatched and after talking to tronadore and Nana nel who both agreed to share the day, all was planned.
A cloudy day made the day very comfortable.
Cockatoo Island is far enough away from the city to avoid the crowds while the amount of history here goes right back to settlement providing the perfect place to celebrate Australia Day.
We arrived on the Island and there was 6 GC and 2 GCA Caches for me to find.
This one was Number 2 GA cache for the day.

Another target down for the summer scavenger series! It's been a while since I slew a Dragon and this was as usual a good one. It's being guarded by vicious flying underlings so take care. All in good condition, cheers Roger!

Took the Opal card out for a spin on the harbour today and stopped off at Cockatoo Island. It's partly closed off at the moment while they tear down the temporary stadium they've been using to make "Australia's Ninja Warriors" (Channel Nine next year, if you care), but the security guy advised a route to get to me up to the zone. The area was deserted, except for lots of very angry seagulls on the way. They're numerous, loud and prolific in their production of guano. Arriving atop the old grain silos, I circled the target object but couldn't see anything promising. A bit of digging though, and I had it. The cache has a good coating of mud and worms on the outside but the innards are fine. Thanks Roger.

On my second caching visit to Cockatoo Island it was lovely to find a GCA trad. I'm surprised to not find a trig point on this island so I'm glad the CO has given us a nice, safely tucked away, cache to find. Had to get a little dirty to reveal the cache but the persistence paid off. Signed and replaced with suitable camo.

Today was a day of island hopping: shark island, fort Dennison and cockatoo island! Together with MrMash and Ziggy-AU, Team MavEtJu (Edwin, GeoDirk and HanorahTLG) went on this adventure!

Always nice to see a GCA container! Quick find, dried out the inside. Log was okay.

Had to find a way to get to the cache without disturbing the many nesting gulls at the moment. Coming from the west proved fine but the other way was certainly a no go! Found the cache easily enough with the good clue. TFTC!
Cheers,

On the island with Celtical & OctoberKat for a day's outing. Celtical had the cords for this one. Found well buried in the mulch as it has been some time since the last find.

Found while out picking up our souvenir find on Cockatoo Island, still nicely hidden. Made sure we replace the camo. TFTC

We went up and down various staircases trying to find the right way to access this spot. Eventually we all ended up in the right area Smile.

We looked in what we thought was the obvious spot, given the hint, but couldn't find the cache. Luckily Canary happened to spot it, in a seagull nest in the BBQ??? We wondered if the bird had moved it there, prompting some Monty Pytonesque discussion about how seagulls could move sistema containers Very Happy .

We replaced the container in the tree, with sticks over it to discourage any other birds from moving it.

Then we tried to take the nearby stairs back down a level, to get to the GC cache. That's when we moved from comedy to horror, with a re-enactment of the Birds. Bikerbuddy & I got swooped on repeatedly, the others sensibly backed away. We gave up on continuing on that path & headed back the way we'd come.

Thanks Roger Smile .

Poor mumma seagull screeching and screeching. She seems to have acquired a cache as an extra egg inside the BBQ. Canary found this one in the totally wrong spot. Mumma bird screeching was a little heartbreaking. We relocated the cache to where the hint said it was supposed to be. Mumma bird was now able to sit on her egg.

5300!!!

I found this lying in the BBQ a few metres from the large fig tree.

We found this under constant attention from the nesting seagulls.

This a fantastic island to explore and the views are magnificent.

TFTC.

FTF! - Our third.

Our best chances at FTFs are on these random islands that none of the locals go to. I was a bit surprised to see an unfound cache in Sydney - even a GCA at the start of the trip, and the further on it got, the more skeptical I became. Then it was time to see if it was here or had already been found.

Luckily it was neither. The cache was in hand quickly after being at GZ, and log signed soon after. TNLN, no muggles in this part today. TFTC
