Description

This is in the first stage of a series of caches to entice visitors and locals to enjoy a valued coastal area.

Once an unkempt area which was a popular spot for excessive drinking and other anti-social activities, Tea Tree Lane and adjacent beach areas have been sensitively made accessible with limited vehicle access and walking tracks extending from the banks of the Mersey River to the eastern end of Devonport Airport. The walking track from the Mersey River to Tea Tree Lane is paved and meanders through small stands of tea tree and open grassed areas. To the east of Tea Tree Lane the natrual landscape is being maintained with a low impact track winding through the sand dunes and coastal lagoon areas. Alternatively, visitors to the area can walk the long stretches of dog friendly Pardoe and Moorlands Beaches and enjoy a variety of sea birds and interesting items washed up onto the shore. Both routes provide opportunities to enjoy a variety of coastal flora and some fauna.

This is the second of four caches placed in the area to encourage locals and visitors to walk and explore the area. The series will probably be extended over time.

Suitable parking spots for the first four caches are S41 10.373 E146 23.453 and S41 10.377 E146 23.646.

This cache has been camouflaged to assist it to blend into the local environment. When placed it contained a logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener and some small swaps.

Thanks for the cache 2y'stassies.
RLD4963 and I have had our eyes on the Coastal Walk series for a little while, and this weekend was on opportunity to head north with the GeoGSP and see if what we could find. It was great that we could take the GeoGSP along with us, he certainly enjoyed the walk and he had a few lovely runs along the beach. We didn't look for all in the series. A generic log for the series follows with individual comments for caches where appropriate.
We arrived in Devonport before lunch Saturday morning, and so we chose to start at the Devonport end of the series and headed east. We had mixed success, with more finds than DNF's and pretty much enjoyed this section - although everytime we saw the word 'creeper' in the hint, we pretty much cringed as the whole area was pretty much carpeted in 'creeper'! Once we reached Cormorant Point we headed back to the car, grabbed something to eat and then headed to the trig point at Moreland Point. From here we headed west and quickly discovered that this section of the track was a lot worse - very overgrown, lots of trees down, and the track very indistinct. On top of that, we had one find in nearly an hour of searching. As we were just not getting anywhere, we decided to head to our accommodation for the night and revisit our plans.
On Sunday morning we headed back to the trig point and decided to search for those caches east of the trig point - this was a success, and we found all the caches in this section of the trail.
Our second for the series and although it was not where we were expecting it to be, it was a nice quick find.

Nice hide, easy find. Thanks! ☺

After walking along the coastal track and logging all the caches to the east, we made our way back along the beach to out patiently waiting Cache mobile. Then it was a stroll up the lane way before making our way to this location. We suspected that it was going to be one of those hanging caches that we look for forever without seeing, but we were wrong and found it quite quickly. Luckily the muggles and their dogs also stayed away from us! TFTC

We looked for this one before but decided to walk on to Coastal Walk - Old and Gnarled.
Upon getting back to this one we searched again and this time goose looked in a place i had looked before but this time he spotted it not like me before Shocked

So with the cache in hand we added our names to the log before hiding the cache again and moving on to the next in the series.

thanks for the cache.

We had tried to find this a few minutes earlier but decided to have a break and wandered on to Coastal Walk - Old and Gnarled. After finding that one quickly we came back for a second attempt. reading a few old logs helped us get an idea of where to look, well more of a idea of where not to look really. We went over the same areas but obviously more thoroughly this time and soon had the log sheet signed. Thanks for another good one 2y'stassies.
p.s. Minotaur Clan Minotaur have taken Devonport from Cerberus Clan Cerberus now. With a handful more to log we should be able to hang onto it.

After reaching the end of our bike ride we headed back, pausing at the picnic table for a drink and a cache. Another good hide and cache container. The sea looked very fine today albeit a bit chopped up by the wind. A nice head wind for a lot of the ride back. Thanks 2y'stasies.

Love the cammo on this one......looks great and fits in well....

The starting spot for my next day here in Tassie and I'm glad I came here early.....but even then it wasn't early enough to beat the flies. Boy, they were tough at times. However no problems with any of the caches and all were found...some with the help of the hint.

A neat walk with some great views of the water. Many thanks for the maintenance run to check on a few 2Y'stassies...made for a great hour or so walking around the area. Very HappyVery Happy (Bit of cut n pasting now I'm afraid.....)

One of 25 caches we found today as we tick off caches that have been published since our last visit.

Probably not the best of days to tackle the coastal walk but we managed to make the find in between showers.

Made a quick find, thanks to accurate co ordinates. Cache and contents in good condition.
