Description

It is Summer Cache Race Time! Gather the Heavenly Horde, but whatever you do, Don't. Blink.

The Sydney "Weeping Angel" Launch Event!!!

Silent. Ancient. Deadly. In December & January this Summer a new threat will rise. All across the country, hiding in plain sight, they stir. The Australian Lesser Weeping Angel (or Boganus Angelous Deminutea Unconsolia - BADU for short) has long been kept under control, as they are placated by any form of attention. Recently however, they have become unloved, unattended, and their more sinister side has awakened. Researchers believe recent obsessions with Gnomes, Frogs and Numbered Transport Vehicles have left the BADU's dangerously close to awakening and causing havoc across the nation. The only way to stop them... Find them. Sign them. Separate them

WILL YOU JOIN US!? We need as many hunters as possible to scour the countryside to locate the BADUs and show them some love, the only thing to quell their murderous intent. Then, they must be moved, as far away from each other as possible to stop them conspiring against us, and all hell breaking loose.

Planning and Registration is taking place at Caching Games.com.

Before this happens however we need a stretagy and some initial intel on what we are up against. We must meet up, swap plans, and examine a few known examples of BADUs... Knowledge is Power, Guard it Well!

SO! On December 1st 2013 there will be an official BADU Awareness Event held at Tench Reserve in Penrith! BADU Hunters are asked to capture at least one example of a Weeping Angel on route so we can examine them, calm them with some attention, and then plan to move them as far away from each other as possible. The briefing will take place at 1100h and go until the last BADU is deemed fit for release.

There will be a Prize for "Most Awesome BADU Captured" on the Day! So make sure you have a tag with the BADU's Name and that of the original discoverer so the hunters can choose their favourite :D

WARNING: Intelligence has learned that a large group of potential hunter recruits are likely to also be gathering nearby at something called the Geocaching NSW Xmas Party Event. We shall have to see if others will join the cause!

Hope to see as many of you there as possible!

(Bonus points for bringing BADU's not of your own discovery!)

I was certainly there, and logged the BADUs at the table, but for the life of me I cannot recall signing a specific GCNSW: Boganus Angelous Deminutea Unconsolia log ... though the GC event log was (or maybe it was one of the either or both). What happens when you blink I suppose.

Don't Blink Only a few BADUs out and about but they managed to lend a hand in the Ammo Can comp and took a couple to keep an eye on. Looks like they will end up on the Northern Beaches. A quieter race this year but that will let us be more focued. Perhaps there are some still some waking up! Thanks to all who came!

Rather a small turnout of Angels here today, I brought one and took one away to hide somewhere else. I will have to keep searching Sydney looking for more of them. Thanks Zal!

As part of our upcoming Christmas Event we have a special announcement. Starting this year, at our annual Christmas Party we will hold a small presentation to announce the GEOCACHE OF THE YEAR Award!

The honour will be awarded to one of the 12 caches that won "Geocache of the Month" during the previous Association Year (Being AGM to AGM, normally September to August). Forum members and those who attend the Christmas Party will all get the chance to vote!

As a double treat, this year we will retrospectively award both the 2012/13 Award AND the 2011/12 (starting in Jan 2012 when the 1st GOTM was presented). So dont forget to vote for each year! Dancing
