Description
Australia's first official Moving Power Trail (MPT) and an entrant in the 2012-13 Moving Cache Race
This series of caches was inspired by:
- my observation that moving caches tend to cluster and move as groups during the annual moving cache races
- cantanga's Power Trail In A Can series (GA3219-GA3228)
- Zalgaraith's popular -POISON CACHE- (GC2ATAA), which proved that cachers aren't just in it for the find, but also care about their stats and will log a cache, no matter how boring the cache or it's surrounds.
Therefore. I have adopted cantanga's idea of a power trail in a single location and decided to develop Australia's first official Moving Power Trail.
Whereas the PTIAC series required no movement on the part of the finder, this MPT requires you to move - at least 1km - before rehiding the power trail in a new location. To deter the weak and lazy, this power trail also includes some additional challenges. You will need to extract, sign and replace each individual log into its cache in the Moving Power Trail and then log them all (twice - once as found, then again as moved). I have also gone to the effort of only selecting certain Bingo numbers for the MPT and mixing up the prefixes so that they aren't consecutive, just to make the logging process even more painful.
Before attempting this MPT, please be aware that as an added deterent to all but the most desperate stats builders and Bingo collectors, I also intend to publish a HALL OF SHAME in the GCA forums, listing everyone that is so addicted to geocaching that they complete this power trail. Any cachers who start the MPT, but do not complete it by validly logging every cache in the series or do not complete every log sheet by hand risk additional ridicule! Don't say that you haven't been warned!!
PS, for those of you who want to count the MPT towards your bingo cards, the Bingo rules are as follows:
Rules (not guidelines)
- Please do not fake moves. Fake moves will be deleted and may DQ the cache from the game.
- Your cache must be a form of transport or anything, even peripherally related to transport.
- Your cache may be store bought or hand crafted.
- Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2012 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time)
- Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2012
- Please refer to the Geocaching Australia wiki for more information
- You are welcome to join the game after it has started provided you list the hidden date and published date as 1 December 2012 and add the word bingo to your cache tags
- You are required to add the word bingo to the tags on your entry at Geocaching Australia
- You can add the word bingo to your tags by visiting your cache page and clicking on Tag in the Actions section in the right hand navigation section of your cache page
- The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2012 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2013 AEDST
- The game administrators decision is final
- You can find and move your own cache during the game period provided it is not the caches first move
- Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
- Only moves count towards your bingo card and you must move the cache at least 1km to count as a valid move
- There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
- Other cachers in the game will find / move your cache, but they are requested to move it on within 2 days
