Description

Australia's first official Moving Power Trail (MPT) and an entrant in the 2012-13 Moving Cache Race

This series of caches was inspired by:

  • my observation that moving caches tend to cluster and move as groups during the annual moving cache races
  • cantanga's Power Trail In A Can series (GA3219-GA3228)
  • Zalgaraith's popular -POISON CACHE- (GC2ATAA), which proved that cachers aren't just in it for the find, but also care about their stats and will log a cache, no matter how boring the cache or it's surrounds.

Therefore. I have adopted cantanga's idea of a power trail in a single location and decided to develop Australia's first official Moving Power Trail.

Whereas the PTIAC series required no movement on the part of the finder, this MPT requires you to move - at least 1km - before rehiding the power trail in a new location. To deter the weak and lazy, this power trail also includes some additional challenges. You will need to extract, sign and replace each individual log into its cache in the Moving Power Trail and then log them all (twice - once as found, then again as moved). I have also gone to the effort of only selecting certain Bingo numbers for the MPT and mixing up the prefixes so that they aren't consecutive, just to make the logging process even more painful.

Before attempting this MPT, please be aware that as an added deterent to all but the most desperate stats builders and Bingo collectors, I also intend to publish a HALL OF SHAME in the GCA forums, listing everyone that is so addicted to geocaching that they complete this power trail. Any cachers who start the MPT, but do not complete it by validly logging every cache in the series or do not complete every log sheet by hand risk additional ridicule! Don't say that you haven't been warned!!

PS, for those of you who want to count the MPT towards your bingo cards, the Bingo rules are as follows:

Rules (not guidelines)

- Please do not fake moves. Fake moves will be deleted and may DQ the cache from the game.
- Your cache must be a form of transport or anything, even peripherally related to transport.
- Your cache may be store bought or hand crafted.
- Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2012 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time)
- Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2012
- Please refer to the Geocaching Australia wiki for more information
- You are welcome to join the game after it has started provided you list the hidden date and published date as 1 December 2012 and add the word bingo to your cache tags
- You are required to add the word bingo to the tags on your entry at Geocaching Australia
- You can add the word bingo to your tags by visiting your cache page and clicking on Tag in the Actions section in the right hand navigation section of your cache page
- The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2012 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2013 AEDST
- The game administrators decision is final
- You can find and move your own cache during the game period provided it is not the caches first move
- Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
- Only moves count towards your bingo card and you must move the cache at least 1km to count as a valid move
- There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
- Other cachers in the game will find / move your cache, but they are requested to move it on within 2 days

This moveable was dropped off the Stanthorpe Mega in April 2015, hasn’t been seen since and is still sitting at the mega co-ords. Unfortunately, I think it has long been lost….

With the current May-ntenance program to clean up the Geocaching Australia underway, I think it’s time for the this one be archived……

#GA105 - 19:30; Located a bag of bingo balls on the table at the OZ BBQ Event. Working like a well oiled machine, FurfacesLL #1 & #2, Rapidlywild, specimenX and I combined our caching talents to work through the whole of the list to log the finds. Twenty five balls later, and no one shouting 'Bingo', the bag was passed to The Proton and shinydragon to continue on its journey. TFTC JustinCBR Rolling Eyes

Found while attending the Oz Mega BBQ for Canberra.

OMG soooo many pingpong balls. They are starting to show their age however lol.

Working as a collective group, logs were signed as full names or as RW + SX + FLL + LL (Rapidlywild, specimenX, FurfacesLL and LuckL10n)

Thanks for another GCA find Smile

Headed out today thinking this would be a simple task of grabbing all these, signing the logs and leaving them here for the next prospector. When I arrived at GZ, it turned into a game similar to 52 card pick up. I think the birds may have discovered this clutch of "eggs" and there was containers and log holders scattered around everywhere. I began what felt like a CITO and placed all the pieces back into the remnants of the plastic bag and took them home for further sorting. I believe there were meant to be 26 in total and I managed to pair up 25. I think number 00 has gone missing in action. I am not saying it wasnt there, just that I didnt find the container or the log holder during my "clean up". I will return these to the wild soon with a new plastic bag.

698. And this one is true - according to Wikipedia.

The French do not have a word for 70, instead using "soixante-dix" (60 + 10). Other French-speaking countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, Aosta Valley and Jersey do have a word for it, using "septante.
