Description
y's Aviatrix is an entry by 2y'stassies in the Bingo Game.
Gender based occupation titles were a familiar part of our language in times past. Actors/actresses and host/hostess are just two examples. An unusual gender based title pair was aviator for male pilots and aviatrix for female pilots.
When we came across a small toy pink plane we thought that "Aviatrix" could be an appropriate title. Then we remembered Australia's most famous female pilot. Nancy Bird-Walton, AO, OBE, DStJ (16 October 1915 – 13 January 2009) was a pioneering Australian aviatrix, and was the founder and patron of the Australian Women Pilots' Association. In the 1930s, defying the traditional role of females of her time, she became a fully qualified pilot at the age of 19, and became the youngest Australian woman to gain a pilot's licence. As well as being recognised as a great Australian, Nancy Bird-Walton paved the way for women to enter the aviation industry. It is now quite common for women to be at the controls of commercial planes and not just being cabin crew. y's Aviatrix joins the Bingo Game in recognition of women in aviation.

By the way I have a nice photo that I will post of all the caches together
Thought this cache had gone as the big piece of bark had blown off and the flier was well buried to the extent that I almost missed it.
