Description

WanderingAus' Wandering Shanks Pony GP is an entrant in the 'Bingo' moving cache race for 2012/2013. This is a 10.5cm x 10cm laminated magnetic card, easy to hide. It carries the GA code, the name, and the QR Code for those Smarty Pants Cachers Smart Phone Cachers.

Shanks Pony is the most common method of movement of the Infantry Soldier, and coincidentally also of the Geocacher (and Rogainer, Orienteerer, Mountain Climber etc).

WanderingAus was first issued with a pair of Boots GP (Boots General Purpose) in February 1969 when I marched into the mighty Seventh Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. They were the primary means of transport for WanderingAus for the following 19 and a half years.

Due to the danger of 'Panji Stakes' in Vietnam, the Australian GP boots had a stainless steel plate under the insole. This caused the enemy to modify their Panji traps, building a small pit with Panji stakes pointing down. when you stepped into it the stakes closed above your foot, and if you were moving quickly and didn't notice it you could cause serious injury to the un-protected upper foot. No protction was offered for this eventuality. The presence of the stainless steel plate meant that, instead of breaking in a new pair of boots, the stainless steel plate broke in your foot.

If you can abide by the rules below please help to keep my boots moving in the race by picking it up and moving it on.
•Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
•Only moves count towards your bingo card and you must move the cache at least 1km to count as a valid move
•There is no limit to the distance cachers can move the cache
•Cachers in the game are requested to move it on within 2 days

After picking up some new caches out by the beach, I came to Star Swamp bushland to do the multi cache, and dropped off a few moveables on my way. This was found a home under a large log seat, underneath a memorial plaque. Safe travels!
