Description

This dumptruck is a very convenient pick up and drop off for the many sistemas you might have lying around!

It's one of my entries in the BINGO moving cache game this summer which runs throughout December and January. Please find this truck, take it away, sign the log and re-hide it in a new location within 2 days, taking note of the new co-ordinates. You log the details in 2 simple steps:

First Step: Log your find with a 'Found' log as soon as you take it - this will give you your smiley!

Second Step: Log the move with a new 'Moved' log when you rehide it, adding the new co-ordinates as well as something useful in the hint box. This will update the main co-ordinates and the hint for the cache listing so that it will update on the map.

A review of this moveable has shown that the cache is still in location, just sitting there waiting to be found. So, if you're in the area, or simply passing through, why not stop and help it on its way again.....

We found this one quickly while on our way from Kalgoorlie to Madura, and as we already had several movable caches and a number of TBS on board we decided to leave this one in place. There was no truck it was only a sistema container.

So, I'm really sorry. I found this among the camping gear in the shed this weekend. We picked it up when we were on holiday last year. So, the coordinates I've logged for now are for the closest cache to our house. I'll be travelling to Darwin for work tomorrow so I'll log another move this week.

According to Wikipedia...
A dump truck (known in the UK as a dumper/tipper truck) is a truck used for transporting loose material (such as sand, gravel, or demolition waste) for construction. A typical dump truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited ("dumped") on the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery.
The dump truck is thought to have been first conceived in the farms of late 19th century western Europe. Thornycroft developed a steam dust-cart in 1896 with a tipper mechanism. The first motorized dump trucks in the United States were developed by small equipment companies such as The Fruehauf Trailer Corporation, Galion Buggy Co. and Lauth-Juergens among many others around 1910. Hydraulic dump beds were introduced by Wood Hoist Co. shortly after. Such companies flourished during World War I due to massive wartime demand. August Fruehauf had obtained military contracts for his semi-trailer, invented in 1914 and later created the partner vehicle, the semi-truck for use in World War I. After the war, Fruehauf introduced hydraulics in his trailers. They offered hydraulic lift gates, hydraulic winches and a dump trailer for sales in the early 1920s. Fruehauf became the premier supplier of dump trailers and their famed "bathtub dump" was considered to be the best by heavy haulers, road and mining construction firms.
Companies like Galion Buggy Co. continued to grow after the war by manufacturing a number of express bodies and some smaller dump bodies that could be easily installed on either stock or converted (heavy-duty suspension and drivetrain) Model T chassis prior to 1920. Galion and Wood Mfg. Co. built all of the dump bodies offered by Ford on their heavy-duty AA and BB chassis during the 1930s. Galion (now Galion Godwin Truck Body Co) is the oldest known truck body manufacturer still in operation today.
The first known Canadian dump truck was developed in Saint John, New Brunswick when Robert T. Mawhinney attached a dump box to a flat bed truck in 1920. The lifting device was a winch attached to a cable that fed over sheave (pulley) mounted on a mast behind the cab. The cable was connected to the lower front end of the wooden dump box which was attached by a pivot at the back of the truck frame. The operator turned a crank to raise and lower the box. The first dump bed apparatus on a wheeled vehicle patented in Canada.
A standard dump truck is a truck chassis with a dump body mounted to the frame. The bed is raised by a vertical hydraulic ram mounted under the front of the body, or a horizontal hydraulic ram and lever arrangement between the frame rails, and the back of the bed is hinged at the back of the truck. The tailgate can be configured to swing up on top hinges (and sometimes also to fold down on lower hinges) or it can be configured in the "High Lift Tailgate" format wherein pneumatic rams lift the gate open and up above the dump body.
In the United States most standard dump trucks have one front steering axle and one (4x2 4-wheeler)) or two (6x4 6-wheeler) rear axles which typically have dual wheels on each side. Tandem rear axles are almost always powered, front steering axles are also sometimes powered (4x4, 6x6). Unpowered axles are sometimes used to support extra weight. Most unpowered rear axles can be raised off the ground to minimize wear when the truck is empty or lightly loaded, and are commonly called “lift axles”.

He's gone! checked today, think someone has grabbed him.

13-Dec-15
Yep, nabbed with LuckyL10n during our run around the big smoke. Was on the hunt for a few gegnomes when this one popped up as well. Checked around the co-ords and then moved just a little further down the steps....and found something that resembled the hint...and there he was, looking very fresh after his winter hibernation. He's all good to go and I will re-locate him down here in Canberra in the next couple of days.

Thanks strike-a-light...glad we found, always like an extra one!

#GA760 - 14:55; Sol de lune and I had decided that double points month made a flying day trip to Sydney to grab some more trigs and perhaps a GeGnome or two a worthwhile adventure. An itinerary was hastily prepared and today was to be the day. We had completed our mission at Rookwood, after grabbing a couple of bonus caches in Bankstown on the way past. It was now off further north into uncharted waters for us to see what was available. Made our way to GZ for a quick find on a couple of others and despite the recent DNF, decided to undertake a search. Thought we were in the right area, but we were having no luck, when Sdl moved a bit further down the stairs and soon had cache in hand. Sdl has taken custody and it should be making an appearance in the Nation's Capital sometime soon! TFTC strike-a-light Very HappyClan Cerberus

We spotted this odd little trail as we were out for a drive today. Pulled over and after a short walk found a good spot for a cache. Lots of birdies singing and fighting overhead. Cache is just a metre or two off the track as you head down the stairs

Wow that is a LOT of caches my BB brought home! I would have gone too but some of us had to go to work. Now my house is full of Gnomes, frogs, Bingos and Angels! I’m going to have to do something about this and start hiding them again before they take over our unit once and for all! Very Happy

Operation: Dawn of War (Clan Phoenix Clan Phoenix Gnomeland Raid)

Cache Condition:
The hinge is half broken but the cache pod is fine and dry. Gave him a quick bath and scrub and he is ready to redeploy!

Operation Summary: Leaving Sydney at 4am to reach The Gnomelands by dawn I kicked off the 'The Great Mount Piddington Moveable Challenge' with a raid of freedom to release over 60 moveables from their mountain prison to freedom. 4.5 hours of morning caching saw a good few sack-fulls return with me to Sydney.

The caches have been moved to St Leonards for some TLC and a bath so don’t go looking for them there. They will be released shortly in various locations.

Gnaughty ,gnaughty Bingo. Desertion is frowned upon. Systems transporter reported for secret geoduty, in April, and now it seems he is up and leaving at the first opportunity. I found the deserter pretending to be a gnome , hiding there alongside Big Red. He is now in shackles and will be joining the ranks once more. He will not escape the gnomeland inquisition.

Sistema Transporter has joined with a group of disenchanted Gnomes in the occupation of this tract of land, the aim being to secede from Australia and create their own independent country.
However with Gnomes in charge this may turn into a dictatorship, it remains to see if emmigration is greater than immigration.
