The Jewish festival of Passover commences this year on the evening of 6th of April - By tradition, on the first evenings of Passover, Jews for generations have sat down together and the retold the story of Passover - The Exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt. The tradition of retelling the Passover story including the meal is called the "Passover Seder".
By tradition our Seders have always been open and shared with others. This year we have an opportunity to share our traditions with other Jewish and non Jewish geocachers. All are welcome.
Thinking that not many would be interested in our event, we initially planned a full Seder and meal; but because of the fantastic numbers of "will attends" we will instead create a different format - we are still kicking a few ideas around but the theme will be much the same, an outline of what we do over Passover and the Seder. There will be matzah (Passover "substitute" bread !) for all that attend but we wont be having a sit down mealWe dont want to take away from any of the other Mega Event activities but we will need to start a little earlier than previously planned - currently now targeting 4:30-5:30pm. We will meet in the general food stall area and find a location close by.
Still please post a "will attend" to help us continue to plan.
Thank you all for attending and your warm comments and a special thanks to The Witty Troopers and DalekDudes as well as Solomonfamily King and Queen Sr for your support and making it happen.
Any followup questions will always be welcome too....
I had been really looking forward to attending this event but my addiction to pathtags made it impossible to be in two places at once. i did however tear myself away at the end and raced over to have a chat with a couple of family members and be given a printed sheet. Maybe next time the events won't clash?
Thank you Solomon family for sharing this with us. I especially enjoy the symbolism of the meal in relation to the journey to freedom out of Eygypt and the Judaism teaches and encourages the children. May God bless you.
Thank you to the Solomon family for sharing with us and all that attended your tradition. It was great to to learn about the seder and what it represented. It was also great to meet one of the other Tassie caching teams (DDTs), whom we just happened to sit next to.
Thank you very much for putting this on. Since being in America and being a part of a Christian Church who participated in a Passover meal I have wanted to incorperate this into my own family as the Jewish tradition is our Heritage also. I appreciate all the information and the symbolism and being shown everything. I know know more about it and am now more keen to have this in my family as a Tradition at Easter. Thank you. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome and a part of your Passover Seder. I am honoured.
I was looking forward to attending this event, as I have had Christianity from birth, but not much information about the Jewish religion. I now understand a lot more about Passover than I did. I'm sure there is much, much more to find out.
I was very glad to have been there for the event. I found the time informative, and the people very friendly - both the organisers and the other guests.
I was very happy to feel included in the ceremony and part of your family for a short time.
An excellent job in preparation and in carrying out.
This was an amazing experience, and worth travelling to Albury just for this. I thought it was the best bit of the whole thing.
Many thanks to all the members of the Solomon Family for sharing information about this tradition with us. T already knew quite a lot, but DD didn't really know anything, so it was very interesting. Also enjoyed meeting the other Tassie team, whom we just happened to sit next to. We were very fortunate to not only taste the traditional passover offerings, but to get a piece of edible gold from King Solomon's mines!
This was my first Jewish Passover, didn't know about this event until 5 minutes before it started, wished I had brought an egg to have participated fully in the ceremony. Thanks Solomon Family for the experience.

Hi All,
Thanks for posting a “Will Attend” for our Mega Seder Event.
Our event will really discuss what we do at a Passover Seder but will not include a meal. I think we bit off more than we can chew in this regards.
Still meet at the posted coordinates at 4:30pm and we will then find a spot to sit down.
What to bring: A chair for each person, a hardboiled egg and a small cup.
If you are Jewish and what to help with the content of the discussion, please email us.
Looking forward to seeing you all, (getting closer everyday)
Regards Solomonfamily
We're claiming first to find on this one, after bailey boy found the hidden matzah under the fire hydrant. We convinced the chefs at the restaurant we had lunch at to cook us up 5 boiled eggs. Thanks for letting us be a part of your family tradition.

Team Casho would love to come join in and learn what passover is all about.
As we are staying in a tent and not knowing anthing about passpver its a bit hard to bring some thing. We would on the other hand be happy to bring some thing we can pick up from the store that day or would be only to happy to chip in to cover cost.
Thanks for this opertunity

Coming to the Mega as part of Team Black Bunny. I would love to attend and learn something and share this special occasion with you.
Three of us will attend.
If we can bring something, please send me a message. Happy to contribute, but I don't know what you want us to bring, yet!

The time also moves an hour earlier, but this is a little fluid still.
more to follow....
My sister-in-law is Jewish and I have many other Jewish friends (a legacy of studying medicine). I have never been to a seder but I'm up for it, despite as many other loggers have recorded about themselves, no religion.
Hopefully something will be announced over the sound system to remind us of the impending start of this - assuming we are not still out chasing caches.....
How cool is our sport ?! I can't think of another sport where there is such a strong community and such an opportunity to experience new things. This is a great idea, and I would love to attend, but I believe that I will be working my stall
We will come to the event, we are nor religous but we are always interested in learning. In my youth as part of other activities I was involved in there were times I was at camps gatherings etc at Easter and Christmas where religous services were spaced at different intervals to allow as many youth to attend and participate and learn. I participated then and would love to attend this one. Life is all about learning and gaining knowledge however old/youg at heart one may be.
