Description

Cache unfound for 180 days or more.

I realised lately that one of my more remote caches hadn't seen a find in over 3 years! It's not that far out... geocaching.com.au/cache/gcqpgj - Boring Cactus.

You can claim a single cache find on only one of the "unloved" locationlesses. I suggest the highest one, but it's up to you. Ie. You can find the locationlesses several times each, for several unloved caches, but only one locationless can be found for any one cache find.

You can't claim the same cache on any of the unloved caches locationlesses - one find, one claim. I suggest you claim the highest one, but it's up to you.

To complete this locationless, you can find any physical cache which has not had an internet logged find for 6 months/180 days. Dual listed caches which have been found on GC but not GCA do not count.

You cannot find your own cache. You cannot find a cache you've found before. If you find this cache with a mate, only one of you can claim the find. Argue it amongst yourselves.

You need to include:

  • The GC/GA code and name of the cache you are logging.
  • The actual date of the find - must be after the date this locationless is listed (22 Oct 2010)
  • The date of the last find (or note it as an FTF)
  • Why you think this one has gone so long.
  • Coordinates as listed on cache page.

It would be nice if you included:

  • A photograph of the cache and or location
  • A little story about the hunt.

You can claim this more than once - after all, the intent is to make these unloved caches loved again!

Hi Cached
Got another one when I found GA3128 "Magical Mersey 2" at 1240hrs on the 11th May 2013 which was last found by CarollEyre on the 5th October 2012.

My log read
"Hi landy_clan
I absolutely LOVED this cache!
Had looked for WP1 of this multi on a previous visit to the area but was unable to find it. (It may be gone.) So did not try to extend my search for the cache.
However, due to an unexpected rushed trip to the Latrobe Hospital, it was time for a break today. Found another cache and decided to look for this one.
Found an area that suited the hint and searched until I found the cache, which was covered in spiders' webs - lucky I'm not achro... I mean scared of spiders.
Signed the log 1240hrs and then spent half an hour watching a couple of duck-billed swimmers enjoying their serenity.
Hope this log finds you both well
No pics - don't want to give GZ away.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint."

I think part of the reason that it has not been found before now:
1. We think that WP1 is missing but not sure. Hence it is difficult to know where to look for the main cache. Took me a little time to find it under these circumstances.
2. A little way off the main highways, but a beautiful spot that should be visited more often.

TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

Hi Cached
Went to find GC4946K today and this little croaker GA3962 "Leap Frog Squeaky" was on the way. Don't think I've found a movable that has stayed in the same place for so long before.
It was last found by Wilco on the 28th October 2012.

My log read:
"Hi Julz76
Found this croaker on the way to another cache.
He'd sat around for far too long without being found.
Picked him up at 1240hrs.
Love the little guy!
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint."

I think it was left so long as some cachers are "sick" of movables after the race each year. However, I feel it being left on the mountain in an area considered a little remote also added to his staying longer than normal.

Love this series of locationless caches.
Usually, I find them by accident as I did this leapfrogger.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

I made the FTF on April 26 2011 and as 2 years on it's still the only found log.
The cache was published 18/5/2010 as a 10 year anniversary cache but was actually placed much earlier on 1/6/2007 but was placed very close to the final location of a GC multi so couldn't be published on GC.com.
It's only had one find in 3 years despite being only a few metres from the highway. I guess the cold water and scare factor of swimming in a cave keeps the cachers away (there's been several drivers drown in the very nearby tank cave).

Hi Cached
I found GA4241 "Steamwheel in the bush" by Tassyexplorer on 7th April 2013 at 1358hrs; this cache last found by CarollEyre on the 30th June 2012.

My log read:
"Having got the other two caches, this was soon to hand too!
Had no trouble working my way through the light scrub.
Signed the log at 1358hrs.
The way out was even easier and a track soon found; led me out easily.
TFTC
OldSaint."

I think the reasons most people don't have a go at this cache:
1. It's remote bush nature
2. Some difficulty getting to the cache
3. And probably the most significant reason is the sign at the entrance gate to the scout camp on which the cache is located.

GC3PK89 Noggerup. Found 20/4/2013, Last found 26/8/2013. The only reason I can think that this cache hasn't been found in so long is that it requires a walk of a few km's to get to it along the Bibbulmun track so would probably deter most cachers.

Very happy to claim this unloved cache.
It is in a bush location but very near some very non-bush locations, typical of Canberra.
It has remained unclaimed for so long, probably because the coordinates require listening to pdcasts, finding a cache and then making contact with other cachers in other parts of the country to share information. A very ingenious concept from a few years back in 2008 when Caught@Work and a number of similarly clever cachers dreamt up this series.
Thanks for the cache and thanks for the love!

Found GA1075 "Walk the Wall" by sirius Tas today at 1142hrs; last found by CarollEyre on the 27th Sept 2012.

My log read"
"Hi sirius
Woke this morning only to find out that the car immobiliser wasn't working properly.
The plans for the day were changed and while the cache mobile was at the auto electrician, I searched for this cache too, after trying to contact you again.
No muggles on the search for this cache, but boats were on the river and at the ramp.
Found and logged the cache 1142hrs. Loved the views as I walked the bank.

GA4347

Never found since its publication on 14 April 2012 so today's find (by myself, pjmpjm, Team Canary and L0ckSmith) was the FTF.

It remained unfound for two weeks short of a year.

Why? It's a GCA virtual and hard to access. Rated a 3.5 terrain but possibly more of a 4.

Today I found the cache GC2QWHF "WILLI-NILLY" by flange 1&tribe signing the log at 1620hrs; which had been last found on the 19 March 2012 by 80degrees at 1130hrs.

I feel that it has been a long time between drinks due to the remoteness of the cache, the poor standard road to get to GZ and no-one has found from its last being found until I did today.

Found the cache "Gemmule Guide" [GA2025] by CarrollEyres now adopted by Sharnie's Tribe on the 5th February 2013; last found by "etrexter" and "Sharnie's Tribe" on the 25th April 2012.

Gemmule Guide is a great cache at Guide Falls near Ridgely in Tasmania and I am surprised it has been so long since its last find, possibly due to:
1. Its relative position to the main arterial roads;
2. Its relative remoteness;
3. The stair climb at the beginning of the short but terrific walk.

I thoroughly enjoyed doind the two caches at these falls and highly recommend them to all cachers.

TFTC and cheers

Found Billy Goat's Bluff (http://coord.info/GC22VNC) on Mt Louisa at Townsville which hadn't been found since 6 March 2012 so nearly eleven months. It's a pity as the views up here are to die for. Found the cache GA1068 "Marriott's Falls" by Dippy yesterday and it was last logged by sylken on the 14th June 2012.

My log read:
"Hi Dippy
Always love doing your caches and this one was no exception.
This time I had no troubles getting to the falls, unlike my first effort - suffice to say I did something drastically wrong last time!
Parked in the new parking area and followed the "blases" to the falls.
Enough water coming over to make them look spectacular. One of my passions is water falls so a big thank you for taking me here.
The track was in reasonable state, with a few muddies occasionally along the way.
Found and re-hid the cache at 1234hrs. For those who follow; I found the cache at S42 43.004 E147 39.695. (Will remove these co-ordinates if you want me to Dippy)
A great walk, even though it did not look like the weather gods were going to be kind to me! No rain, even though it threatened.
Well done Dippy on a great hide, an excellent walk and a great reward at the end of the inward track.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint. "

It was probably not found for so long because of its remoteness and the fact that there is a very good walk to the cache.
More people should do it though, as the falls are beautiful.

Well how amazing is that, 4 for the price of 2 on the same bushwalk Wink Very Happy. With our bushwalk today around Altona Coastal Park, I'd loaded in all available caches, both GC and GCA. Burns Reserve and Dog Beach (GA1808) was first on our sojourn and after a bit of scratching around, literally Shocked, I had the stash in hand for the first time since 11 February this year!

Despite the fact that it hasn't been found in almost 10 months, its neighbour, Carpobrotus Glaucescens (GA2689) which hadn't been found in just over a year, was an easier find and possibly more accessible Shocked. Go figure Think!

Many thanks for the double opportunity Cached.

Hi Cached
Found another unloved cache this morning GC1C7RZ "GeoTalk Listeners vs The XoE #1" by Snuva.

The cache was last found by Liz and Bruce during their time in Tasmania on the 27th January 2012.

I think it has not been found in between times due to it being a puzzle cache where to solve it, you need to listen to various episodes of GeoTalk to glean the necessary info to get the co-ords.
Listening to these episodes put me to sleep on many ocassions before gathering all the pertinent data. Maybe that's why!

My log reads:

"Hi Snuva
This morning I woke up with the "Axis of Evil" hovering over me, I had to get rid of this satanic feeling, so off in the cache mobile to get this cache. An overcast day added to the gloom of the devilish feeling I was experiencing.
Parked where I parked for XoE #2 and passed by that cache on the way.
Arrived at ground zero after a lovely walk along the track.
Due to the excellent co-ordinates, the cache was quickly to hand.
The log was signed and the cache replaced at 1015hrs.
Back on the track and my body shuddered and froze. Why? Looked down and there was the devil himself - an Eve Tempter, a land slider - a big Tasmanian Tiger Snake! (see photos)
Great cache and a very good series.
The "Axis of Evil" was overcome and was defeated!

Hi cached
Managed to walk to "GC1C7T3 - GeoTalk Listeners vs the XoE #2" and make a find today.
It was last found by Liz and Bruce on the 27th Jan 2012.

I think; as it is a puzzle cache where you need to listen to episodes of GeoTalk which I found difficult to listen to the entire episodes in one sitting; is one reason for it not being found before today since its last time being found.

My log reads:
"Hi Snuva
After listening to GeoTalk and falling asleep as I listened on mnay occasions, I was finally able to gather the pertinent information to trek to both "Axis of Evil" caches.
I found a car parking spot that left me about a 350-400metres walk to the cache.
While extracting the cache I had a rather large flip flop (leech) try to carry me away - Yes! It was that big! (See photograph) Flicked it away with a stick, but like the Axis of Evil, it kept coming back. Luckily, it was not fast enough to grab this "OLD" man.
Having signed the log at 1105hrs and replaced the cache, just as I got back on the track, I was muggled by two other walkers.
Unfortunately, I had a sad event to attend this afternoon, so time did not permit my getting the other cache. Will do that in the near future.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint."

We went for a walk up Mt King William I (TP3472) on 6th November. It was last found (which was the first to find) in January - which is over 300 days. Nearly but not quite made it to a year without a find. It's a magnificent walk, with sensational views over what seems to be half of Tasmania, but it's a bit unloved because it's a 2 and 1/2 hr drive into central Tassie and then the 5 or 6 hrs walking. But what a great day we had. Thanks for the bonus cache.

Walked to GC1B61W "Falls at Black Glen" by Dippy yesterday and noticed the last found log was by Brokelux on the 28th April 2012.
My log reads:
"Hi Dippy
Left home early this morning hoping to complete the PTPT caches along the track from Neika. Arrived at the car park to find it vacant. Got my gear together and set off. Had the track to myself for most of my walk; found both that I had not completed and thought that's the end of the PTPTs for the moment. Noticed Greenish had visited both yesterday.

From here it was off to Black Glen to find your caches. Drove to the first car park, looked at the track and drove slowly to the second. Gathered my gear and started the walk.
Crossed the river and by-passed the first cache figuring to get it when I came back.
A lovely sunny day, enjoying the walk when the track and I parted company. It was the track that got lost not me! Consequently, I followed the creek to the cache, bush bashing my way and crossing the creek four or five times. I, unlike Budge, did not fall in the river nor did I get wet feet!
The benefits of taking this path albeit unintentional, I did not have to climb the hill and I got to see more of the river than do most visitors to the falls.
Eventually arrived at ground zero only to find I had to cross the river yet again!
Time to search for the cache and the GPS had me walking all over but not in the right direction. During the search, I found the pink tape that I should have followed in but had lost somewhere along the way.
The cache hide was eventually found.
It was extracted, the log signed and the cache replaced at 1350hrs.
The walk back was a lot easier following the tape on the right track and didn't take anywhere near as long. However, it was difficult to follow the blazes in given spots.

What a great walk! The falls are magnificent. Thank you for taking me to this area for the first time. Waterfalls are a passion of mine, you have added another to the list of those I've visited.

After finding your two caches at Black Glen, I was driving home when Budge rang and asked "Did you finish the PTPTs today?" Knowing I had, he said Greenish had just had PTPT Echidna published and started to laugh! Not funny at all 'cos now I've got to go back again. He's got a sick sense of humour don't you think!!! (tehehe!)

Enjoyed your cache today and am looking forward to the big walk on Sunday.
Cheers OldSaint."

This cache has not been found in that time due to its remoteness and the weather conditions ove the last few months.

Hi cached
Did GC1B61M - "Cascades at Black Glen" by Dippy yesterday and noticed that the last found log for that cache was listed by Brokelux on the 28th April 2012.

My log reads:
Hi Dippy
Left home early this morning hoping to complete the PTPT caches along the track from Neika. Arrived at the car park to find it vacant. Got my gear together and set off. Had the track to myself for most of my walk; found both that I had not completed and thought that's the end of the PTPTs for the moment. Noticed Greenish had visited both yesterday.

Having found "Falls at Black Glen" and following the track back to ground zero for this cache, I was glad that I had not had to climb the hill to get there. Even on the way back; in certain places, I found the track hard to follow. The walk back to this cache was a lot faster than that to get to the cache I found first.
Arrived at ground zero for the second time today and just stood taking in the beauty of this spot.
Cascading water such as it is here, is always a pleasure to look at. Time to look for the cache. A very quick find!
It was extracted, the log signed and the cache replaced at 1431hrs.

What a great walk! A wonderful two part series. The falls are magnificent. Thank you for taking me to this area for the first time. Waterfalls are a passion of mine, you have added two more to the list of those I've visited.

After finding your two caches at Black Glen, I was driving home when Budge rang and asked "Did you finish the PTPTs today?" The above coordinates are the start of a multi cache so to not reveal the final location.
The cache is A24 (GC2FP3D) at Rathmines NSW on the banks of Lake Macquarie.
The cache is a multi that takes you on a tour around the Catalina Flying Boat base from WWII. This can take a few hours to really appreciate the history of the area and explore the base, which is probably why it hasn't been found since 13th Arpril 2012.
We took a couple of hourse to wander around teh area and locate the required information. It was a very pleasant way to spend a sunday afternoon.

Hi cached
I found the cache GA1013 "Inglis Trail #2" by sirius Tas on the 18th October 2012 exactly six months after it was last found by sylken on the 18th April 2012.

My log reads:
"Hi sirius Tas
After walking to Inglis Trail #1 and having logged it. I looked at the GPS and #2 was only some 350 metres away. (Hadn't read that it was a circuit!)
Off I goes along the trail to where the GPS said 50 metres to go! Only that 50 metres was perpendicular to my position across the river.
Walked up a little further and could not see a river crossing any where (didn't go far enough!)
OldSaint turns round and walks back to the car.
As he's walking, he is thinking what a cunning old swamp fox is sirius; making people walk double the distance to get the two caches.
Again, I emphasize that I should read the caching page before attempting a find on a cache. But as you can tell, it adds to the excitement of the hunt.
I actually wondered how many others have had this happen to them or maybe I'm the only blunder head!!!
Anyway cache one down; now to drive as close as possible to the second to make the walk as short as possible.
Nearly 700 metres.
Off I go!
Again, this side of the river was as enjoyable as the other.
Passed a white bait fisherman on the way in and he was still there on the way out but had not had any luck to then.
Arrived at ground zero and found the hide quickly. Was about to make an extraction but was greeted by an inchman poised to nip!
The cache was extracted, the log signed and the container replaced at 1153hrs.
Thoroughly enjoyed doing both caches. Thanks for this "two" part series.
Cheers OldSaint."

Unsure why this cache has not been found before i did, but possibly because most of the local cachers may have already found it and touring cachers don't have the time to do the walk.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

Hi cached

I found GA1012 "Inglis Trail #1" by sirius Tas on the 18th October 2012, six months exactly after it was last found by sylken on the 18th April 2012.

My log reads:
"Hi sirius Tas
Anne and I have finished our three day tour of the West Coast; having stayed at Queenstown, Zeehan and now Burnie. We enjoyed visiting the towns of Strahan, Rosebery, Tullah, Waratah and Savage River. Today it was as far west as Wynyard and east as far as Devonport; staying at Burnie for a second night. Both of us have really enjoyed our sojourn so far, home tomorrow!

Today is a caching day for me and Anne is having a retail therapy day.
Luckily, the weather was terrific all day.

This cache was the eighth one on the agenda for today.
The drive from Burnie to Wynyard was a good one as Bass Strait gave for a great background on this beautiful morning. Anne started her retail therapy here in Wynyard while I went cache hunting. Having found Gutteridge Gardens, not finding "round a bout here" and having found "Hale Yes!" as well; off to look for this cache.
My last visit to Wynyard was short lived and I did not have time to do this cache; but was determined to do so next time I came back. That happened today.
Arrival at ground zero, a quick look around and the hide was found quickly. The cache was logged, the cache replaced as found at 1058hrs this morning. The walk to the cache was really enjoyable even with a very sore Achilles tendon. The floral display at the side of the track was tremendous. Walking back to the cache mobile was just as enjoyable, especially on such a nice day; which made a welcome change to the last two wet ones down the West Coast.

Found five caches in total for day one. Day two, eleven caches found. The third day has coffed up nine cache finds and two "Did Not Finds" but I think those two caches maybe missing in action. This, our fourth day has resulted in sixteen cache finds - so far, a total of 41 finds for our tour.
Have had a better time watching Anne's face as she got a better look at the West Coast. She's loved Nelsons Falls, Strahan, the Museum at Zeehan, the falls at Waratah and her visit to Wynyard.
Thanks for the cache and the fun of the find
Cheers OldSaint."

The only reason I can think for this cache not being more frequently is its remoteness and I believe that some cachers don't like walking too far to get a cache.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

Hi Cached
Found GA0035 - "You've Got To Be Joking" today at 1557hrs.
This cache was last found by kaatka on the 12th of December 2011.

My log for the find reads:
"An early morning start at 0500hrs this morning saw me log two locationless and the to Hobart in search of another cache prior to meeting Budgietas at 0700hrs to travel the Lakes area to clean up those cache we had not yet found in that area.
Our journey took us to Bridgewater first, Wayatinah, Bronte Park, Little Pine, Arthurs Lake and as far north as Poatina. Our next stop was Waddamana for two caches, Victoria Falls and then back to Hobart to look for "Big Fibs." On the way around Budge helped replace two caches and replaced the log in another.
I got back to Huonville at 2230hrs.
Thanks Budge for another great day's caching.
This cache was my fourth for the day in the Lakes region. A quick find, signing the log at 1557hrs.
My last visit to the Museum was not so long ago at which time, we enjoyed touring the museum and taking in the history contained within. I worked out the co-ords for this cache on that visit but looked at the intended walk and said exactly that "YOU'VE TO BE JOKING!" The walk had to wait for a couple of good reasons. However, we completed the climb today.
Drove part way up the hill and footed it the rest of the way. I struggled a bit today and apologise to Budgietas for holding him up. The rocky parts of the climb made it a bit uncomfortable, but overall I enjoyed the walk to the top. Not often one enjoys being a mountain goat, but I did today. The transverse under the penstock reminded me of cammando style training. The walk back down was a little easier until I got struck with a migraine.
The views are great. Enjoyed the cache immensely, the sense of achievement tremendous. Thank you!
Top votes from me on this one.
Thanks for a quick find
Cheers OldSaint."

Thanks for this cache

GA1616 Cosmos Bilby Charleville, Queensland, by DelicaDriver was previously found on 07/09/11 by WanderinAus. Not quite 12 months.

It's remote out here and not many caches to find, so it doesn't see many visitors and it's a GCA as well. Pity, because if there were more caches there would be more visitors.

Pages Creek Swamp 2.0 (http://coord.info/GC2E63X) has been sitting there unfound for almost 12 months since its last find on 5 September 2011. So 20 July 2012 is 10.5 months. There's a trio of multis in this area placed by the same owner and they struggle to get many finds even though they are in a wonderful area and good challenges. Some people might be put off by the difficult to find waypoints (and not log a DNF) but the main problem is multis in general would be lucky to get half the finds of traditionals. Add in a longer bushwalk and you drop the finds to about 10% of a drive-by. But these are much more fun.

GA2071 - Rubbed Out

Found by me on 05-Feb-12

Found previously on 20-Jul-11 Trailrunning (with a DNF on 18-Aug-11 by Happy Chappies)

This cache, apart from being a GCA cache which unfairly seem to be neglected or ignored by regular cachers, is a little out of the way from inner suburbia, requiring a bit of a walk along a concrete bike path. I guess its not the most interesting of places, and when I visited the "jetty" was high and dry so no water feature attraction either... I seem to recall I did have to search quite a while before I found it myself

S37° 51.339' E145° 12.701'

I made the mistake of dropping off a travelbug in the GCA cache - again... Please won't someone visit it and rescue the poor thing? Mind you, give it a few weeks and then you too can claim this cache with it!... :-\

This had not been found for almost 12 months before pjmpjm and I got there today.

For some reasons I had never been to this lookout and of course the cache here, although it had always been on my to do list.
A simple multi for a change and the final coords were close enough, pjmpjm and I were ready for some bush bash and we were not disappointed, mainly because we came from too high and by the time we got close to GZ I had my doubt that we had the correct coords, however we soon spotted the likely place and scrambled down to it. pjmpjm went looking in a likely spot (ignoring his claustrophobia in the process!) and I went looking in the next likely spot and soon found the cache.
After pjmpjm extricated himself from his 'place where the sun don't shine' we removed the cache from it's hidey hole , signed the log and returned it to it's rightful place.
A shame this is not found more often as it is in a magnificent area.
Thank you very much for the cache.

Not far from Springwood, and a easily driveable road that leads to a lookout only about 100 metres from GZ . . . so why the lack of finds? Well, it's a multi and probably some geocachers suspect that the ultimate GZ is way, way down in the gully.

A bit off the beaten track may account for it being unfound for some time

Nice easy drive to camp area near cache, possible to do with 2wd, if you dont mind charging through a couple of big puddles.

Despite the garmin etrex legend trying to take me along the road on the North side of the river, (luckily i had done my research beforehand), we got to cache area without drama, after dodging a few fallen trees over the road.

Found by Chloe (8yrs). Cache was chockers with goodies and in good condition. The kids squabbled over the spoils, lol. I grabbed the teddy TB to move to another cache, its been in here some time, lol. Left a 1952 Australian penny. (i was going to make a TB out of that, but i can get lots more, lol.)

GCA2561 Pyjama Caching hadn't been logged since Oct 2011 - I found GC3GCN0 Fairytrail by Night while in my PJ's on 11th May 2012... Not many people head out to cache in their Jarmies even for a smiley!

Eight months since the wonderful multi "Lane Cove River Provides" was logged. We DNFed it about five months ago and returned to make our 1200th GC find.

- Found 18/5/2012

- Probably gone unfound as its a multi-stage puzzle (albeit and easy puzzle) which involves a bit of walking - no park n grab on this one. Certainly a very enjoyable cache. A real pity more people don't attempt it.

Enigma GC2N3G5
Last found 5 Oct 2011 by Hoogies

Pjmpjm asked if I wanted to go along with him and the destination is such a lovely place that I had to go, this is well known to both of us and I was quite happy to go just for the walk, the cache was an extra bonus for me.

I must thank bikerbuddy for not making this hide into the ersatz Badman cache that could easily have been made into, there is a perfect spot nearby!

Great walk in a gorgeous part of the Blue Mountains and a nice well stocked cache.

It takes some code know-how and computer emulator savvy to get to the GZ coords, so I guess this has made 'Enigma' a relatively rare find.

Found GA2564 Water Views (no where else like it), last find was 14 September 2011. Not sure why so long since the last find because it was an easy find, maybe because it's a bit out out of the way.

Lost World GC10XZ8

This cache near 'Lost World Lookout' takes a bit of getting to . . .

The shortest way via Springwood is very steep and requires working your way down a steep ravine and the going back up the other side -- and then doing it all over again to return.

The longest way via Woodford is 27 km round trip, a bit flatter, and takes many hours -- though a bit quicker on a mountain bike.

GA2025 Gemmule Guide, last found on 7 June 2011. Only just get to claim this one as we met up with etrexer on our way back to the car. If we'd been 20 minutes later we would have been the second team of the day. Not sure why so long between finds because Guide Falls is a lovely spot not that far out of town.
