Description
This cache is a Gnomic.
A Gnomic is a game where the players can change the rules while the game is in progress. One of the most famous Gnomics is Calvinball, but you might be able to think of some other examples. If you've ever been involved in the arcane process of writing requirements or in amending the Constitution of your local sporting club then this cache might appeal to you!
Anyone can find, log and move this cache. Anyone who moves the cache in accordance with the rules below may propose a rule change. When you log your find on the website, simply add a proposal to your log and I'll put it to a vote of all the cachers who have already found the cache. If you're successful I'll update the rules and adjust the cache as necessary for future cachers to find. You can read about and discuss past and current rule changes here.
The Gnomics Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey are competing for the affections of Snow White. They know she is a bit of an apple fancier so they've agreed that whoever can collect the most apples for her gets to sit closest to her at breakfast. Sleepy is currently sitting closest to Snow White with 22 apples. Grumpy is languishing at the bottom of the table with only 4 apples!
Here is the current ruleset:
(G) SLP-001: All rules, moves and hides must comply with the 2010/2011 Moving Cache Race Rules until midnight on the 31st of January 2011, after which this rule shall no longer apply.
(G) SLP-002: Rules are divided into two kinds: Golden Rules and non-Golden Rules. Non-Golden Rules may be changed into Golden Rules (called beatification). Golden Rules are marked with a (G) and can never be changed, deleted or anathematised to non-Golden Rules.
(G) SLP-003: Golden Rules take precedence over non-Golden Rules.
(I) SLP-101: Non-Golden Rules are divided up into two types: mutable and immutable. The main difference between these is that immutable rules must be changed into mutable rules (called transmuting) before they can be modified or removed. Rules marked with an (I) are immutable and rules marked with an (M) are mutable.
(I) SLP-102: Immutable rules take precedence over mutable rules.
(I) SLP-103: A rule change may be:
- the addition of a new mutable rule,
- an amendment to a mutable rule,
- the repeal of a mutable rule,
- the transmutation of a rule from mutable to immutable,
- the transmutation of a rule from immutable to mutable, or
- the beatification of an immutable rule to a Golden Rule.
(I) SLP-104: Any cacher who moves the Gnomic in accordance with these rules is eligible to propose a rule change.
(I) SLP-105: All proposed rule changes shall be written down in the logs associated with the Gnomic before they are voted on.
(I) SLP-106: Each proposed rule change will be given a number for reference by the Owner.
(I) SLP-107: When a rule change is proposed then other players may suggest amendments or argue against the proposal before the vote. A reasonable time will be allowed for this debate. The proponent decides the final form in which the proposal is to be voted on and the Owner decides the time to end debate and vote.
(I) SLP-108: All rule changes shall be voted on. They will be adopted if they receive the required number of votes.
(I) SLP-109: Each cacher who moves the Gnomic is an eligible voter.
(I) SLP-110: A cacher may move the Gnomic more than once, providing that the last move was by someone else.
(M) SLP-201: A rule change is adopted if the vote achieves a simple majority among the eligible voters who have responded by the deadline.
(M) SLP-202: The Owner has five votes. The FTF has four votes. The Second To Find has three votes. The Third To Find has two votes. All other players have one vote.
(M) SLP-203: If the rules are changed so that finding or moving the Gnomic is impossible then the Owner will alter the rules to allow the Gnomic to be found or moved again.
(M) SLP-204: Sleepy's Gnomic must not be hidden more than one kilometre from a bed.
(M) SLP-205: Every time this Gnomic is found, rated or recommended he gets an apple. The Gnomic with the most apples gets to sit next to Snow White at breakfast!
Logs
Aussiegirlz were also looking for him so I think Sleepy will be going home with them tonight.
They sat around chatting and then Sleepy came home with me.
I will drop him off soon.
He quickly jumped in the car and asked "Where are we Going?"
"Let's see if we can find another quiet spot for you." I replied.
Currently hidden with six other moveables, and conveniently packed into a sturdy carry bag to make it easier for the next finder to grab them.
...as he's spending the night at our house!
Picked up as part of my moving-cache-spring-cleaning.
Will move him down to the Adelaide Hills tomorrow.
He's not far from some of the best beds in town, the Wallaroo Marina Apartments.
Hint: Under the pungent herb near the switch back.
Thanks Trigg-A-Gnomics.
The sound of a little bell ringing in my pocket was disconcerting.
According to the gnomic, Sleepy will want to lie down at the next bed less than 1km from a bed, so I'll need to have a close look at that.
PS - right beside a caravan park, plenty of sleep may be had!
for now, he is residing near the Blue Lake and overlooking the Brown Lake (that is looking quiet green) in SA!
Of to the country for this one!
Hope someone picks him up soon
Found this little guy again - we checked first to ensure that there were at least 2 between (Actually very very soon)
Took some Muggle friends who have been caching with us before on a Gnome Gnabbing trip this arvo. They thought it was hilarious!
When JMuggle found this one she ran round in circles ringing the bell lolol
Sleepy can have a nice rest indoors tonight then will be rehidden sometime tomorrow

Ok, this confirms that I'm crazy, wandering around a flood-prone swamp on Melbourne's wettest day of the year. A quick find of this one plus two others nearby. I'll move them across Melbourne tomorrow for a few more kms.

MMelb doing his homework meant we didn't get the email until 8.45pm so it was nearly dark when we headed off. I had copied the hint to a word document to decode once we were there if needed and we were about 9/10ths of the way to GZ when I realised I hadnt printed it out!!!!! DER!!!!! lol
So with fading light and weakish torches we poked around for about 5-10 mins before deciding it was just too hard without a hint or enough light lol
JMelb starts work at 11.45am tomorrow so will try again if she gets the chance ..... but you know what this time of year is like lolol
Thanks for the fun night experience anyway Happy Chappies

Checked the maps this morning just to see if any where nearby, and lo and behold, two right nextdoor to my office. Dashed out with only 10 minutes til supervision and couldn't find, so gave up the hunt - But went out again at lunch to find them both neatly tucked away....
On the bike today, so I'll find somewhere on the route home for this one
He slept ALL the way whilst Katie Gnomette chatted the whole way there excitedly!
This little man is on his way to Melbourne with Mrs S this afternoon. Won't matter if he sleeps all the way and he will be placed very close to a whole lot of beds. Is Sleepy prepared to pay for a bed as you need to at this place?
