Description

The Geocacher Clock

The Geocacher Clock is a realtime clock where the time is displayed via a photo generated and uploaded by the members at Geocaching Australia. You can see the clock in action here http://geocaching.com.au/clock/ or by hovering over the Cachers tab and select Clock to see in in use as well.

You upload photos to the Geocacher Clock via your My pages. http://geocaching.com.au/my/clock or by hovering over the My tab and selecting clock.

The concept is similar (well almost completely ripped off) to the human clock experiment which can be seen in action here http://www.humanclock.com/clock.php

Initially time periods which do not have any geocacher picture will show the Geocaching Australia logo with the time stamped in the bottom left corner.

Take a photograph of yourself creatively displaying the time. Avoid taking a picture of yourself in front of clock. Make it interesting. Try to make the time clear as after all the only indication of the time is your picture. Pictures that do not show the time will be removed from the Geocacher Clock.

You are encouraged to be very lateral in your thinking in how you want to present the time. The only requirement is that you or your GPS is clearly shown in the picture and that the time is also clearly shown. After all, it is the picture of the time that will tell people what the time is. You could lay down on the beach and hold your arms up to the right time or scrawl the time in the sand. Make a timepiece out of some old batteries from your GPS. Arrange your dogs and cats into the number on your clock. Be creative. Check the human clock site for ideas, but remember, you or your GPS needs to be in the picture.

Each 1 minute period is available for use, so over a 24 hour period this will require 1,440 pictures. Once a picture has been uploaded, that time period is no longer available. As such, we ask that for "popular" times, you please keep to one or two pictures. That way lots of people get the opportunity to get their face out in prime time.

To log this cache, you don't need to load your photo to this cache, but in your log let us know the time that your photo will appear so we can all go and ogle you.

Logs

This geocache listing no longer follows the guidelines required for a Locationless cache. https://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Locationless_cache As such we will archive it and encourage the CO to place a locationless cache that meets the new guidelines.

I have looked at this cache before but never logged it.
Today, whilst doing the Cybergran V Ephemeral cache:
GA16750 Your Time on the Clock Ephemeral Challenge
I decided to drop in and add this to the tally.
My time on the jigsaw was 3:36 so that was the time I chose.

I appear to be going around in circles. The time I am claiming is 00:26 because that was the time that appeared while I didn't know what I was doing. Actually I still don't. I finally remembered to take a photo to add to the clock. I picked 7:30PM as I found the numbers on an artwork at MONA in Hobart. It's unusual looking enough to offer a different representation

Oh my goodness, I LOVE this!!! As soon as I saw this, my son and I immediately started gathering Christmas toys to make a time out of. Of course, we wanted instant fame, so made one time, but had missed the time for today, so quickly set about making another time. So, we are officially 16:28 on the Geocacher clock. My boy was super impressed when we flashed up on screen. What a cool thing to be part of. Thanks for this cache!!

Here I have made the time for 14:09 with Rubiks Cubes.

When I put the cubes down and asked my wife to take a photo she asked ... "Geocaching?" Looks like these GCA locationless caches have had me doing some odd tings lately Laughing

Thanks for the cache!

I've had two previous attempts at taking this photo. Both times have been disturbed by a fire call. Today, although very warm, was all quiet on the fire front and I was able to get the phot taken.
My time shows some of my TOTT (tools of the trade) layed out to show the time of 2:35. This is the number of jobs we've been called out to since July 1st this year. Not a bad effort for a fully volunteer brigade.

This cache has been logged as part of the States of the Nation game. Go Victoria. Clan Phoenix

I didn't think I had anything for the clock but when I was flicking through some photos and discovered that Suzy had taken a photo of Max and I at the Swell Sculpture festival at Currumbin. The artist had created a sculpture that looked like sticks of dynamite with a countdown clock. Although the clock was actually a proper clock that displayed the current time.

We were actually there at 4.54 in the afternoon. Since the clock also counted seconds, if Suzy had waited 18 seconds it would have been a better photo. Anyway, we thought that the artwork was just 'da bomb' and thought it would be good for the geocacher clock.

Thank you for this locationless cache.

As you know my caching name is OldSaint; a long suffering St Kilda AFL fan
We have only won ONE premiership back in 1966 when we DEFEATED [Collingwood] by ONE point
Unfortunately; it been FIFTY-ONE long years albeit having played in a few more grand finals since then
Hence my time 1:51 forever not am or pm
It may be our turn next year as the past two winners took 53 years 37years respectively to win theirs
Sainted at 1351 hrs
MERRY CHRISTMAS

2:22 or 1422hrs
Did a cache by Ryan00, GA6901 'Lots of 2s' with the following requirement:

"A bit of a different type of locationless cache, 2's my lucky number.
To log this cache, find area that has an elevation of exactly 222 metres. Take a photo of your GPS at this location at exactly 2:22am or pm.
Make sure there is proof of time and elevation. You can get both on the screen of your GPS or phone at one time."

My GPS shows the 222m in height and my watch proves the time.
TFTC and cheers

I will acquire 1758 hrs. Taken in front of an old timer at work. This old girl is over 40 years old, and whilst not used that often any more, still sees the occasional service, struggling with the loads in the background. Operating one of these old girls is fun, certainly nothing like the almost fully computerised ones we operate on a daily basis.

Cheers

My clock is for 10:05 and it's made on a dinner plate with my most recent and brilliant GCA pathtags! The numbers are represented by the 4 Easter PTs and the 8 State Flower Emblem PTs. The hands are represented by the 6 Australian Birds PTs.

After seeing this cache only a few days ago, I coereced some mates into helping me. Our clock took place at a remote cache in the south of the ACT, on a handy rocky slab. That's Zsazsa7, Sol de Lune and McPhan, and the time on the clock is 1.17pm. Thanks all.

Being a geek, I was in my garage 'doing stuff'. I found the Geocacher Clock and thought I'd find some IT bits and pieces to make the time. A USB cable, 2 USB sticks, and 12 laptop nipples for the pointer stick. ENJOY ClappingClappingLaughingLaughing

I took this photo on the last afternoon of a six-month stint at the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach at Tufts University, Boston (http://ceeo.tufts.edu/). I was there studying engineering education and some related topics, but a big focus was how best to use LEGO robotics in K-12 classrooms. This photo celebrates an important year in LEGO's history, 1958. It was in that year that the familiar stud-and-tube coupling system was invented and patented.
