Description

One of the most well known Burke and Wills locations.

I've had to lodge this entry in the B&W series as an offset/multi, as the actual location of the dig tree is on private property, and also very busy with few places to hide any size container.

The dig tree location, at the listed co-ords, has a number of information boards and plaques to read about the ill fated B&W expedition. Take some time to read these when you visit the tree! one of them will help you find the cache.

From Peskys progress

This cache is hidden at another location that most poeple will have to pass to reach the dig tree, if you do not pass it then it is not realy a big diversion if you have already travelled all the way out to this area anyway.

To locate the cache, find the plaque pictured above and confirm the date it was erected by the Conrick family (as stated in the last line on the plaque) which has been carefully removed from the cache listing photo.

was it 1936

If so then the correct cache co-ords are S 27' 36.729 E 141' 04.945

Or was it 1937

If so then the correct cache co-ords are S 27' 35.591 E 141' 08.373

Or was it 1938

If so then the correct cache co-ords are S 27' 38.495 E 141' 06.462

I did not wish to make this too hard, as the most important part of this cahce, and the hardest part, is getting out here to view  this amazing area.

The area was under water for months before we came out and had only been dry for 2 weeks once we arrived!

Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 11:00am. We were last in this area in 2010 but it was very wet and I think this cache may have been washed away but got it this time. We are here for a few days before heading up to the Birdsville Races. The cache is in good condition and well hidden and safe this time. TFTC

Jeremy (youngest son) and I stayed overnight at the Dig Tree Campground. We were heading out the next morning and detoured via the final cache location. A fitting way to finish our visit to Innamincka. Well done on the series Pesky!
TNLNSL, thanks for an awesome and well set up cache series.
best wishes,
Wal & Jeremy

A fabulous part of Australia and so interesting to see. The areas are looking so green and lush at the moment. It is hard to imagine it when the Bourke and Wills Epedition was here. When we came in to the area I thought that it would be a good spot for a cache and yes it was.
Cheers from the Posspet Boys

WP1 seems to have drifted from the B&W tree location by a few hundred meters...
as i cant get out ther to check I have corrected via google maps to the same area as all the B&W virtuals whickh use the same set of information boards etc. that mine does.
sorry if anyone even tried to get to GZ for wp1. my bad i guess.
i must have transcribed a set of co-ords or soemething.
will check final location details and be sure they are correct aswell.
