Description

A cache in the place of a cache that was special to me.

This cache is placed in approximately the same spot as The Animal Cachers 'Lightfoot Bay' Cache (GCB6C5)

The cache was important to me (some would say life changing) as it was this cache that got me started with Geocaching, as I live 430m from here and the first time I spent AGES looking for it!

In the end, a kind cacher by the name of Horus took pity on me and he and Bastvet came over to put me out of my misery, forming a friendship that lasts to this day.

I also got to meet several other cachers because of this cache, including Snuva, plus even met the parents of The Animal Cachers (who also live nearby)

Anyhow, it appears the old cache is gone, and old owners of this spot have not logged in to GC for 3 years, so I've replaced it as a new cache.

All old finders of the original Lightfoot Bay cache are free to log again.

Cache is a  1.2ltr Black Sistema.

Best approach to this cache is to park at the Paper Beach Park and follow the track next to the fence line till you get close to the cache, this avoids any un-needed bush bashing and reduces environmental impact.

Enjoy! I may even spot you if I'm out for a walk!

On the road to 300...
WELL.... The journey to 300 is over!! 7th cache for the day and number 300 WOO HOO!!! Now this cache was planed out before the days caching started so as it was going to be the 300th find. The reason behind this was to make this cache as memorable for us as the original cache placed here was for the owner of this cache.... 'CraigRat' a true pioneer of Tasmanian caching....
When we got introduced to caching back in 2005 by another cacher by the name of robtas, and we then started hiding our own caches, there was two other cachers, that for some reason back then, I always waited in anticipation for them to make a find on our caches just to get there opinion and or approval.... These two cachers were firstly 'CraigRat' and the other was 'Horus'. Both these two guys are in my opinion, the backbone of caching in this state and have got it to where it is today....... Thanks to both of you for all your great work over the years......

Initially GZ appeared to be in the middle of riverbank vegetation. However, once in there there was an obvious path out. Quick find once we got close to GZ.

Should have got this one last time we got the FTF down the track but we jumped the gun. A couple of others nearby to do now. Nice wildlife just near the cache (see image).

Thoroughly enjoyed this walk the two times I have done it now.
The dogs still bark at you as you go past and you still feel like "am I in their backyard or not?"
Thanks CraigRat! another gem

Walked straight to this one as we had been to the previous one. Even remembered the exact spot. Walked the beach both ways to escape the heat up in the tracks during the middle of the day. Thanks.

I couldn't remember exactly where the original was....but GPSr led me straight onto GZ....reading just 1m above the cache...how things have changed even in 3 to 4 years...oh so easy with spot on co-ords. My 76th find originally...which seems like eons ago now. Great to come back and rejig those memories....many thanks CraigRat....really enjoyed it...Cheers.

I sat at my computer this morning after reading my GCA advisory email feeling very frustrated. you see my obsessive side insisted I had to try and get FTF on this cache after managing to do so on the original - I don't know why, it just kept niggling at me. The only problem was I had no transport apart from by bike and I'm afraid I wouldn't be up for the 45km+ return trip - it may well have been my final cache find!

As it turns out Bastvet had a surgery cancellation meaning she could come home early and we could take on the challenge - we figured it would be a challenge because we've seen CraigRat try to find the original, so this one could be anywhere and could take some finding.

But he tricked us and placed it exactly where the original sat all those years ago!

Took FTF prize and placed a Sparkly Thing.
