Description
Moving Cache Race 2009 - The Post Box Hopper!
This is our entry in the 2009 Moving Cache Race. See: http://www.cachinggames.com/mcr/index.php for more information.
PLEASE do not pick it up if you can't put it back out quickly!!
It will start out in Yarralumla, Canberra and may just move around the ACT and nearby NSW. We would like it to achieve the most moves during the race. So, short quick relocations will be appreciated.
We are hoping the ACT caching community will get behind this entry in its quest to achieve the most moves?
This cache is to be moved from post box to post box. It should be hidden so as to not be obvious and 'blend' in to the chosen box. The special camo paint will help!
For example, on a standard urban post box mounted on a pole is can be placed underneath and out of sight. On others it can be placed on the side, but will need to be away from prying eyes and fingers!
If possible pick it up, sign the log, drop at a new location (don't forget to take coordinates) and log all in one fell swoop!
Let the race begin....... a quick game is a good game!

A special on at Hawker tonight, 2 for the price of 1.

Dropped off at a familar location, I was driving past and it seemed like good idea. There is green "letterbox" right next door for the other postal moving cache.
Moved 6.13km
Dropped a little closer to the city for someone else to move on.
Moved 6.54km
Moved to another postal location with very law-abiding neighbours!

Moved to a tourist location - watch the muggles here, timing is everything. My GPS is not working so location fixed via google earth -but it should be ok to find - it's the usual red box.
Moved 9.49km
A quick trip to the shops and all I came home with was 2 caches
Moved 6.74km
Ahh my old friend that I FTF'ed. GE shows my coords a little off but you all know where it is. Unfortunately the green Aus Post storage box didn't allow me to put Post Hast next door, so instead it is around the corner. Didn't sign the log again as it is 4/5 full.

Was tempted to leave this at the Isaacs Post Office, but decided on the Isaacs Post Box instead - watch out for the workmen on the construction site nearby!

I also knew these post boxes & had no idea how a cache could be hidden on them, but there it was...
Great cache - will move on later today.

Did think about keeping this one for the current collection I have, but he was a bit small so I returned him to the wild. He has now found anther Post Box to call home.

By the time you have received this move, it has already been picked up by the intended cacher. (I had the coordinates right yeah! =oP )
OHMPS - nice time playing with you, time for you to go back home so you can get some more action =o) Good Luck and godspeed!
Moved 31.91km
Outside a cute little General Store in Wollert - time for some of the northern suburbs teams to find and move this one!
*hangs head in shame*
Hopefully the coordinates should be nearby a shop, with a phone booth infront, and a postbox next to it?
ps. Does anyone want to bring it back to the ACT?
Moved 3.4km
Another red letter box by the side of the road. You really can't miss this one even if the coords are slightly out. Right in front of the plant shop :-)

You can see it from your car, but unless your looking for it, it just looks part of the object.
Too obvious for a hint!

A quick driveby to hide this cache.
Co-ords may suck a little, but you can't miss this location.
A handy finder if you're not sure where you can find one.

Thanks wing6rider & cyrstal warrior for the opportunity to find and rehide this major moving cache in the game.
Now to find somewhere appropriate to hide it.
BTW, this find makes my total GCA find count 100. W00t!

I'm here waiting for collection easy to find. Thanks, I'm stamped ready to go!!

Hidden in Brunswick on a post box by a tram stop. Was observed by a muggle attaching the cache to the mail box, so I "waited for the tram", then re-hid it once he got on. This game is fun.

Arriving back home tonight from spending christmas with the bf's family. OHMPS has been on a long trip!
Hopefully a good game of ping pong will be had with the local cachers in this area.
I hope the Victorians are ready for some quick moves with this cache!

Found a post box on our way into Wagga to spend the night on the last night of our holiday. It has cover so that it hopefully wont get muggled. I wish it all the best on its journey in the cache race.
With the new co-ordinates, made a slight detour on the way out of town to pick it up. Will be hidden further down NSW later on this evening.

You shouldn't need a clue for this with the cache name. You can pick up a quick McHappy meal across the road if you're hungry

Gone interstate again. Visiting Sydney, pick this up and drop into Anaconda while your here, its not far.

So snot snober now.
Took advantage of a nearby Christmas lunch to nab and place this one. Much drier location.

Finally caught up with this little blighter! (Seems the post has shut down over Christmas Eve!). So, that made it a whole lot easier. - And seeing the Post was closed, I have moved it myself already!

Locals will simply know this as "Theo's" Alas the original cook has moved on to what I believe is "Johno's" at Mawson.

One son misses moving the cache - but this one knew where a nearby red letterbox is - thanks CoolAid.

Garran shops. Come and get it. After multiple emails and missed calls and voicemails from the owners, we'll pass on this one now - please, please someone else come and get it so that the owners can see it is, and always has been, still in play.

As this cache doesn't have enough postage for Sydney it's going back return to sender to Canberra so placed where Black Bunny can pick it up again.
(Thanks Black Bunny and all the other helpers).
I did not realise what a competitive little cache I had created!
Now to see if it comes home...........
Anyone going to Perth (and back) for the weekend?
Moved 967.23km
Mr Bunny reports that he has placed the cache. He says it is NOT on a post box.
Black Bunny is currently negotiating to see if he can get this one tagged in Brisbane, and possibly brought back to the ACT.
Either way it will be out of circulation for us here, until the weekend, I'd say.

This area can be muggle central at certain times of the day, but you can pull the car up next to it.

Checked the internet at 12:30 to see if it was still here, yep, it was. Onto my road bike and I headed off. Detoured via new cache up Mt. Ainslie first, then popped in here - GOT IT. A 44km ride so far.
Ended up doing 85km for the day, 3 caches, 1 mountain and 80km/h on the road bike, Coooeeeeee
Will drop off appropriately tonight.

Moved to another postal location. Not quite the box (there was a muggle at the bus stop near there) but close by and very postal indeed. During business hours stealth will be required as it is a surpisingly busy place.
According to my sources, the ACT Government, frustrated with the blandness of the standard urban post box, commissioned a design competition to come up with a new, innovative and exciting design. This was the winning entry. However, at the time, there were tensions in the Commonwealth/Territory relations and this did not get the support it deserved. I think a bilateral agreement on the matter was mooted?
The ACT Government, not to be deterred, then put this prototype (sans slot) on display in the hope it would come to be seen as the ideal modern post box and the Commonwealth might change its mind.
I don't think this has happened, yet.........
PS. Don't try to post a letter when you are doing the pick up but if you can put it back on track that would be good!

Zing!
Back out in time for some other hunter.
Well it is sort of a box...
and it has a little something in common with a post box.

The cache was certainly located in a beautiful leafy street. I gulped as I looked, hoping it was going still to be there. Yay!
Thanks wing6rider & cyrstal warrior for the chase and the fun of re-hiding....
