Description
Here's something a little different, this event is one that everyone can attend, as long as you have an internet connection and are a member of the Geocaching Australia Forums.
- To bring like minded people together for a short period of time, with a common “positive” thought in mind.
- To try and break the record of “The most users on the GCA forums at one time” which currently stands at 48, and was set while the Geocaching.com site was down due to a fire on the 4 of July 09. Unfortunately this stat. was lost in the change over to the new servers at GCA and it now only shows as 34.
- Logon onto http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewforum.php?f=2 on the 10th of August between 8:00pm and 8:15pm AEST
- Post at least one comment, which is relevant to the topic that I will start at the above time. (the topic title will incluced the Name of the event)
Breaking News: Gibbo003 has donated a NT geocoin to this event, to be in the draw for this coin, all you have to do is log your attendance (as per the conditions above) within 24 hours of the close of the event. As well as this, we will donate a FTF coin to the first person who posts a relevant reply to the topic that is the event (i.e. The first post after my post on the night - post must be relevant to the topic)
More Breaking News: Gardengorilla has kindly offered to donate one of her NEW yet to arrive "Gardengorilla Gone Bush" geocoins to this event, and what a wonderful looking coin it is (see factory photos below) The winner of this coin will be drawn as with the above 2009 NT geocoin. (please note that the winner of this coin may have to wait to take receipt of it, as it is only due to be shipped from the factory on the day of the event.)
All winners will be notified as soon as the draw is done, and results will be published both on this page and in the GCA forums.
Special thanks to Gibbo003, and Gardengorilla for donating a coins.

Congratulations, winner were drawn from all of the names of those that logged their attendance to this very successful event, the drawn was done by Xanthia (the biggest little Fuddley) under strict super vision of her parents. I have sent PMs to the winners and once they return their postal details I will arrange for their coins to be dispatched.
A special thanks goes to Gibbo003 and Gardengorilla for donating these coins.
Winners if you haven't already sent me your details please do so ASAP.
Just been reading logs and realised that i could still log this cache even though i could not get a post through despite hitting submit quite a few times and thinking I would have numerous posts put up!! I guess you can check that i was online from 8.00 to 8.16 then gave up!!
Great event. Look forward to the next one.
Thought I should log my attendance we were there and very impressed with the number that turned up, will done everyone
Rated:
Well I was on the train using my iPhone and never successfully submitted a post, though I did take a screenshot of my being online at the correct time. Thanks owner for letting me help breack the GCA forums online users record ;)
Rated:
We tried - thought we had messed it up as we are generally lurkers. I did see the submit button was still there but I didn't want to multipost and by the time we checked all the pages to see if our post was there the time was up. (I suppose you can check who was online at the time anyway.)
Anyway on rechecking this morning to see if our forum post had turned up was glad to read that we can log the cache.
Great idea - great turnout. TFTEvent
Well, thought I was going to miss out. I was at Band practice at Homebush with no wireless so connected the phone to the Laptop and tried to log on. Bingo!.
It took about 12 attempts to get a post going which was a bit frustrating and was concerned I was going to get through in time.
A different concept and interesting to see the comments.
Thanks for this one...good fun (eventually)
Rated:
Thought this was going to be the easiest cache I would ever find.... but it was a lot more difficult than I thought. Logged 4 times... 1 eventually got through. Thanks Fuddley, an interresting exercise!!
Rated:
Sorry, Little late :(
Thanks!
~~ Mortified
Hang out with us on Facebook. Search "Geocaching Brisbane" or click: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=122436932974
Rated:
Certainly an event with a difference.
Nice to read some others positive caching moments.
Rated:
Anyway I get to be the cacher that tips the flash mob over the 100 mark...woohoo! oops, maybe not we're at 103
Had trouble getting my forum post accepted, firstly because my wireless didn't like the carpark or being inside. Finally I tried outside at a bus stop, but time ran out.
Logging anyway, as I knew I was there and trying.
Rated:
Traffic on way home from work slowed me down but jumped on as soon as I could. Didn't make it with the maximum on this time, but great fun anyway....
Rated:
Was definitely logged on at the required time, but like many others my posts wouldn't go through. Got one through eventually. Hope I still qualify for a find?? Congrats on breaking the record. :)
The 'review post' feature caught many of us out (me included)
Attached are the performance graphs for this evenings events.
Yikes! So many posts! Can't believe I almost missed it. I checked all the new threads earlier this evening but there was no reminder on this one! Glad the forum coped. :)
Finally got my post through at 8:22 after hitting the Submit button about 20 times.
A slow internet connection allowed other posts to get in ahead of me and I got the message to check them before it would accept my submission.
Glad to be part of a history making event.
That was insane!
Every time I clicked to the next page another on popped into existence.
Highly successful but not quite the same having a real glass of wine with virtual company.
About time for a physical event in the ACT.
Rated:
I didn't realise at first my post had not gone through, I thought it was just slow. Started pushing the "submit" button when I saw the notice about need to review the post.
Great idea Team Fuddley - Thanks.
This will be a record for a GCA cache I dare say.
Attended this event but posted on the wrong topic, lucky we were given some extra time, TFTC
Rated:
Great to read the posts. Thanks for the event
Rated:
Cheers.
A bit late with the reply to the forum post, but as they say better late than never.
Thanks for setting up this event and I look forward with interest to reading all the replys and finding out how many were logged on.
Rated:
This was a great idea. I am not sure if I successfully logged or not. I am new to online forums and although I submitted two replies to the topic in the 15 min span, and another a short while after, I can't see any of them
Rated:
Took me 23 minutes to post my reply to the topic. But what a great event this is.
Rated:
Seemed like everyone else was making posts but mine would not go through ..... got there in the end but may be called as too late!!!
Unfortunately the horse had bolted before I could post on the forum topic. I pressed and pressed the submit button and then thought I was doing something wrong and as I got in later than I wished from work...I ended up missing out. Talk about an adrenalin rush!! But I was there and the posts were coming through thick and fast. A great idea and event. I rate it.
Thankyou - quite an enjoyable experience being a participant in this type of cyber event! Well done...
Regards, 38degsouth.
HI, just got in from Beach Volleyball & nearly forgot all about it.
Rated:
Lots of fun doing this one.
We had a bit of trouble submitting our post on the fourm.
The record surely has been broken because the server was very slow.
Thanks Team Fuddley for making this well thought out event.
It was our first Cyber Flash Mob Event.

It was so close before it cut off after I almost forgot all about it - just in time with 2 mins spare prior to 6.15pm.
Made second entry in the Forum with a different topic about the positive which I almost missed wiht a few minutes spare closer to 9.00pm. Again thanks for the great event and fun.
Rated:
Wow, this certainly drew a virtual crowd. Well done... How can you not love a cache that doensn't require you to put your beer down to get there... :)
Cheers
Rated:
well that was interesting, gave the new server a work out and uncovered an annoying feature in the forum software: some one else has posted so now you have to review your post just in case... what the hell...
thanks for the fun...
Rated:
Hopefully I managed to post in time. The server wasn't particularly happy!
Bloody hell. That was a job and a half to make a post to the thread but got there in the end.

Great fun and good to see so many on line Did I count 72 ?

Well, I enjoyed watching all the people log for this event. What a great idea. Although my inbox is not quite liking all the email notifications of a reply to a topic I have posted to.....
I was there, just. Twitter told me it was on. Thanks GCA_Updates!
Great idea. Thanks for putting it on. Great to see the servers whistling too.
Caching brought me here. :-)

Tried 4 times and finally managed to post a log but I may have been too late, I hope not though.
It looks like it was a great success. Well done to all concerned.

Must of taken 10 attempts to get the post to go through. Top event
Rated:
Had three attempts to put in a post having never done one before. I'm half expecting them to pop up eventually.
Excellent numbers. Great idea. Congrats.
Edit - Just found my posts in draft!? Now submitted. Stress city.
Rated:
Phew, took 14 minutes to get my post through, it kept telling me there were new posts and did I want to review my post!
Rated:
Took a lot of goes to get this one through. Nice to be a part of this popular event.
My first GA cache and it was interesting. Had a hard time getting my reply to post because of all the traffic, This was an interesting idea for a cache. Greetings from New Hampshire, USA
Rated:
That was close! I almost missed the event altogether - my forum post was in with only 1 min to spare (according to my computer's clock) & it actually showed 8.15 on the forum's clock - it doesn't get much closer than that (although I see I wasn't the last one to post!).
My posted coords are for the closest cache to home - Brother of Rattus.
Rated:
I was there
Took a bit to get the log to stick,
and longer to find the post.
Another page had appeared somewher and 5 minutes elapsed before I saw it.
Rated:
I only just made the closing time on this cache so I'll have to go back and read the discussions.
Looks like a few numbers are rolling up on attendence.
Rated:
Thanks for having me Fuddleys. A great concept.
Rated:
I am in Sydney at the moment but put my home co-ords instead. Thanks for a brilliant idea on a boring night away from home
Rated:
Attended. Had trouble logging my entry, too many people also logging it.
Thanks for a great idea.
Well, that was fun. Things seemed a little more sluggish than usual to me, and it took me a few "hits" to get my post through (there were all these other posters, whose contributions I was told I might want to consider before I submitted) but eventually I got through! Nice idea for an event, and it's got us all thinking about what we like about caching (even if I suspect we've all "blurted" out the fastest responses we could type!)
Rated:
Yippee - I managed to get a forum reply - only took 3 attempts - great fun!
Rated:
WOW that was frantic trying to get the reply to go
Rated:
Great idea! And a really good turnout! Thanks for the cache!!!

It took a bit to be able to submit my post but I got there in the end!
Interesting to read peoples responses.
Always great to get together with other cachers.

That was fun - though I almost forgot it because of the timezone difference... Did we melt the servers?
Rated:
Great event! Nice and warm, no bugs, and the food was great. Best venue ever for an event! :-)
Thanks for hosting the event!

That was lucky, thought this was next week, just checked forum to look at something else and found the post about it......
What I meant to say was I'll be there for sure
Guess when your used to the 24 clock quickly looking and missing the PM makes me look a little silly.
I've attached the CPU and Apache (webserver) loads for today as a baseline, will be interesting to compare.
July 2009
to answer a couple of the questions that have been raised.
1. the coords of S00 00.000 E000 00.000 were the default coords on the form for hiding a cache (event)at the time I did not give it any consideration just left it as it was. If it is to cause any real issues let me know either via a PM or through the forums and I will look at changing it.
2. The reason it is listed in QLD was to get it onto the daily email (i was going to move it from State to State to expose it to everyone) thanks to C@W it is now on the email as a note, so I can now take it back to Locationless
Thanks again looking forward to the event, if you have any further question please contact me
Richard
aka Fuddley
Dicksontwo asks why locationless in QLD - I presume because the organizers are located there - but I ask, why is the Googlemaps virtual location off the coast of Africa closest to Ghana? Any special reason for choosing this? Do we have to wear traditional clothing when attending? Any special requirements?
Edit: Default location NorS0° EorW0° !
Perhaps floaties or a boat?
