Cathedrals in Australia - St Paul's Cathedral, Sale

St Paul's Cathedral, Sale is the cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Gippsland in Australia. The cathedral building, built in 1884, is a double storey building with a rectangular footprint and is constructed of red brick and slate roofing.

The cathedral's interior is decorated in a Gothic style expressing a high church liturgy. The walls are of white rendered plaster with Oregon roof buttressing. Above the sanctuary is the "great western window" depicting the Sermon on the Mount and several other windows include St Paul's vision of the Macedonian and the diocese's coat of arms line the nave. Within the nave are a Lady chapel, a bishop's chapel and an honour roll.

Alas, it was time to turn the car homeward but there would still be plenty of opportunities for caching before getting there. Very Happy This was first and although it was mighty chilly, I still jumped out of the car to grab the shot at 10:05.

Thanks once again Team MavEtJu.

I happened to be travelling to Sale for work this morning and finished up with my first patient early, allowing me time to swing past a very familiar cathedral. I lived two streets north of here when I moved to Sale for my pharmacy training and walked past this cathedral most days on my way to the hospital or to the lake for a morning walk. I even considered getting married at this church at one point as it's quite attractive and my husband-to-be was Anglican, but we decided on a Melbourne wedding in the end. A happy FTF to start the morning, TFTC Team MavEtJu
