Description

FANTASTIC BEACH

Stayed here during our southern excursion over the Queens birthday holidays.  What a great beach. Just the spot for a cache or two.

Replaced the cache 11/06/2012.  This beach is just magnificent but since I was here last the sea has eaten away some of the bank, hence the orinal cache went missing

Cache not hard to findright next to the track. you will not need to trample the foliage but as this is a well used area be sure to rehide well.

Cache is now small film cannister size.

There is another cache a few hundred metres away.

Logs

22-Jul-23
After a bright and early start to have an onslaught on some southern caches we left well before daylight negotiating the fog, icy conditions and the odd slow driver to make our way to sorell after grabbing some caches there we made our way down towards Port Arthur to find most of the caches in the area, the view from the Eaglehawk lookout was brilliant. Met up with Oldsaint near the golf course where he needed assistance to turn the hazards off on his Ranger. At the second last cache in the area we meet up with Goose and Stainless Steel Rat, after a catch up and discussing some caching we headed off for seven mile beach where we located all but one of the caches we had targeted in the area.
then continued onwards to Sanford to find the rest of Whitewebbs MMMM games caches and a few others that were close by. Needing to be in New Town at 5 to pick up a heater we stopped in at Rosny Hill to grab the caches there to fill in some time, all were located and solved. After loading the heater onto my ute we decided that was enough caching for the day and headed back north arriving home around 10pm.

This one was out in the open so was easily spotted, we managed to get our names on the log even tho it was wet, rehide the cache with coverings to avoidit going missing, ten headed to the beach to check it out. TFTC

Back down south hunting GA caches for some more BS game ammo.

Made my way to gz for a quick find with the log being pretty damp...will replace next trip down..

Awesome to find a robtas cache that was placed way back in 2008...a highlight for the day.

Many tftc....thoroughly enjoyed...cheers ST.

22-Feb-21
Cache found quickly due to hint and accurate coordinates. All good at GZ. Vale robtas.

Since I got leukemia travelling to Hobart is just not possible.
cheers

01-Aug-20
wow thanks to the army this cache is rediscovered from its grave, the trees are so thick and grow so fast that they almost make it impossible to move around GZ but thanks to a previous finder to say it's here we came back to search for the right log where there are about a dozen logs just sitting around rotting in the sand. a nice "hey I've found it" call was heard and then the signing of the damp log was done, and replace the cache for the next person to find. TFTC TNLN log damp. glad that has turned to a tick for seven mile beach area.

01-Aug-20
Thanks for the cache ROBTAS. I live at Seven Mile Beach so I really should have found this cache a long time ago. I'd made a few attempts previously, but had never really got to the right 'ground zero' spot, and it turns out from today's find that I was approaching it from the wrong side.... I noticed a few weeks ago that The Hancock Clan had found it late last year, so surely it was still there. Sounds like they found it buried under quite a lot of sand, so it was a much easier find today - although we still had to fight through the boobyalla - that stuff grows so quickly. Anyway, I was with RLD4963 and the GeoGSP, so we were glad to turn this one into a smiley, and being a 'local' happy to keep an eye on it for the future Smile

24-Nov-19
This one was well and truly buried in two years of sand since the last find. Good coords and clue helped a lot. TFTC
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Called in for this one while I out and about with Goose, a quick find just off the path.

Thanks for the cache.

11-Mar-17
Hi robtas, EeePees was here too. Thanks for this cache. Found this morning whilst gathering a few finds in the general area. Log is damp and messy. Cheers.

27-Jun-16
A good hide, but unfortunately the log is very wet. Managed to sign but it is quite a mess. We usually carry spare log sheets and plastic bags but we only did this cache on the spur of the moment as we were in the area and we didn't have our usual gear with us. Thanks for the cache

09-Mar-15
A nice easy find.
TFTC

30-Aug-14
Quick find while cleaning up a few caches in the area. TFTC

12-Jul-14
Nice quick find while out and about exploring areas we hadn't been to before. TFTC

05-Jul-14
Discovered (after the fact) that there are apparently two containers on the go here. We found the one with the blue frog - but it's log was a sorry soggy unsignable wet mess too. So we added a fresh leaf from our notebook with our name emblazoned thereon. Though it won't stay fresh & dry for very long I guess. Must remember to bring baggies with us.

30-Mar-14
Found cache with new geocaching friends from Adelaide, but having just read the description it may be the one as mentioned being nearby. There wasn't a blue frog, but a Xmas tree eraser, so unsure. Had fun finding anyway.
The container (a white plastic pill bottle) was damp and the log book completely soggy and unusable
TFTC

19-Mar-14
Found on a day when we introduced our granddaughter to caching for the first time. She left a blue frog in the cache, very excited to find a treasure while we are pretending to be pirates. TFTC

02-Mar-14
Fairly quick find, logbook was soaking wet and there was a bit of water in the bottom of the container. Patted it dry as best we could and put it back. TFTC

18-Oct-13
Quite quick to find as the coords were accurate. The log was only slightly damp. TFTC robtas

This was a day to complete the caches on the track between Seven Mile and Lauderdale, plus a couple of Australian ones in the area. As there was a bit of spare time left we did a walk to collect a couple of "Amongst the Fir Trees" from Five Mile Beach, just as the wind once again picked up to crabby strength.

23-Jun-13
Quick find with the hint. Logbook is getting a bit damp already.

15-Mar-13
After a number of unsuccesful visits over a couple of years, two visits quite recently, the stars have become aligned. The coordinates and the hint now lead to a quick find although the cache container is about three times the volume of a film canister - we were expecting something smaller but the larger screw top container made the find easier. Thankfully, the area was totally devoid of muggles when we visited. TFTC RobTas

11-Mar-13
Very Happy New cache out in more secure location. Bad erosion happening on this beach area.
new hint

04-Mar-13
Today was the second occasion we have searched for this cache since it was replaced. It was the second occasion when we didn't find it. Our GPS had GZ at a bush on the southern side of the main track heading to the beach, about 5-7m back from the edge of the beach. We searched the bush and immediate surrounds very carefully but without success. There certainly wasn't a fence post as mentioned in the hint. We widened our search area and the nearest fence post we found was 39m away - no cache there either. We are either being extremely blind, the coordinates and hint don't match or it has gone again. It would be appreciated if this cache could be checked. Thanks RobTas

11-Sep-11
Poked through a lot of grass but didn't find this one. It was quite cold and windy so I gave up for the day.

06-Jul-11
After working at the airport had a bit of time to kill so came down to Seven Mile. Not much beach today with the tide lapping at the dunes. Found the cache nice and quickly however. Thanks robtas.

12-Jun-11
Third time at trying to find this one. First one we had no luck and logged a DNF. Second time the beach was swarming with people and just couldn't be stealthy enough with people sitting a metre from where we needed to search. Went back again today and finally found the cache. YAY. TNLN. TFTC.

01-Jun-11
Nice easy find - Tassie Trekkers was here too! Very HappyVery Happy

26-Mar-11
Easy find,(especially after having done the other two micro caches nearby) just follow the hint. TFTC, TNLN.

30-Jan-11
Poked and prodded some very thick and tough grass but to no avail. The grass was very thick and didn't want to move. Lovely area and lovely day. Will have to try again later.

09-Oct-10
A nice cache in an area with some other GC caches around. Thankfully there were minimal muggle activiy which made searching and retrieval unhindered, it was a cold and blustery day.

TNLNSL Another beautiful Tassie beach to visit, our many thanks for bringing us here. cheers

09-Oct-10
Needing the hint geoD made the find. Lots of trampled grass at GZ means it's hard to make a subtle search.

TNLN SL TFTC

05-Aug-10
TFTC. Nice hide but hint was necessary due to the number of plants. Robtas your a marvel with the number of caches you have planted.

Keep up the good work!

12-Jul-10
Found on my second try.
A bit of thrashing around in the grass, and then there it was.
TNLN TFTC

26-Jun-10
Had to dodge a few dog walking muggles but otherwise an easy find. Clues very helpful. Thanks.

11-Feb-10
Great area, worried when we arrived that the site had been muggled but soon discovered the cache, a bit damp.
TFTC TNLN SL

23-Jan-10
Had a look today and found it pretty quickly.
It was in pretty poor state, damp log book & stash note and a shredded zip lock.
I don't think the Jalna yoghurt containers make good caches, the lids are not water tight and the sharp edge of the opening destroys zip lock bags - it's not the first container like this I've seen in this state.
Have taken it all home to dry it out and will replace tomorrow.
Nice stretch of beach all the same!

12-Dec-09
Hi Robtas - grassed this one at 1932hrs as the fourth and final cache for the day giving me 315 finds in total. Made friends with a black and white sheep dog and its owner. Great time to find this cache as the photos are great - differnt shades of light on the water etc. watched a big bird coming in to land at the airport, thanks for a great experience. To you and yours a Merry Christmas, a safe and happy new year; TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

14-Nov-09
Easy find.Log book is very wet needs replacing.

Hello everyone!
It is I, Sonic the super bird!

DaBoss went down to her friend Olivia's place, for her birthday party and a sleepover.
DaBoss suggested that they should go caching (which she had to explain) because this cache is near where Olivia lives.
Walked there and went through all the bushes to get to the area then realised that they could of just gone on the path! What nincompoops!
Could not find it so they went to get back up from a near by friend.
Backup didn't work either but apparently they had some laughs.
So they all went to get more backup AKA a boy who lived near by too.
But that didn't work too! But they played chasings and had heaps of fun.
So they went to the girl's house to go on the internet and get the coords. for another cache near by but her computer wasn't working...
Thanks For The Cache anyway.
Over and out,

Sonic the super bird.

went to check on it, could not find it so replaced it.

19-Feb-09
Found ok at around 8pm, and still plenty of muggles. Log book a little damp.

13-Jan-09
No luck today, was looking exactly where the hint was but lots of muggles about unsurprisingly so didn't spend too long looking.
Went for a swim instead, wouldn't want to be working today!

21-Dec-08
Oops, forgot to log this one!! We admit to having read the clue - otherwise we would have spent much longer searching!! It was rather windy on the beach today, so we didn't hang around - and didn't have too many problems with muggles. T purple pen L purple squirty frog. Thanks.

16-Dec-08
Hows this for a forgot-to-log!

Thanks OM

16-Dec-08
A lovely spot and an easy find - I would love to settle in such a place as this! Cheers for the cache etc

24-Oct-08
Even with the specific hint it took 3 of us to find it and the foliage is looking very trampled.

21-Sep-08
2008-09-21 16:49 Was sorta in the area so I popped out to grab this one. Ended up having to use the phone a friend option as I was running late and had to be going.
Maybe the hint could be updated to something like "In front of the largest sign" as there are 3 signs within 2 metres of each other.
TNLN thanks robtas.

23-Aug-08
As you know things change. If anyone can suggest a better hint or co-ords I am pleased to oblige.

22-Aug-08
2 of 3 after a SWoMBO airport run.
After seeing Cheesypigs entry, still thought I'd give it a go as it was between the other two "planned" caches. Got to the GZ ( according to GPS ) and started looking around. The hint was kinda useless as this could describe the whole area Razz.
Looked for a few minutes and thought it must be gone, especially if CPs couldn't find. Searched a bit more and lo and behold .... there it is.
TFTH. Hadn't been down this area for many years. Have to take H10 and R12 down here with the boards in the very near future.
TNLNSL

21-Aug-08
There was a sign on the ground, and lots of dog poo but no cache that we could find. Sad

12-Aug-08
We visited this cache after a winters downpour. The sea was eerily calm. Beautiful beach and we will be back for a loooong walk soon to the cache at the end. TNLN TFTC

13-Jul-08
Found today without any dramas.
Nice spot
Thanks robtas

20-Jun-08
This was a fun cache to do by moonlight, the waves were really roaring! Lottie wasn't happy that I didn't let her have a good gallop off-lead, however I had a cache to check then needed to get back to Cambridge for the end of a soccer match.

Thank you for the cache.

01-Jun-08
Nice walk with the dogs. Took frog left highlighter. Thanks

27-Apr-08
So was Gorbak and Freddymjt!

24-Apr-08
Found after dropping my sister at the airport. Thanks robtas.

13-Apr-08
You could spend ages searching here, but fortunately urch1949 came up with the goods. A lovely beach & lotsof interesting shells - we will return to enjoy it some more while we are staying in the area.
TNLN TFTC.

13-Apr-08
Just as well for gspblu's log or we may still be looking. Easy find using that. TNLN Thanks for the hunt, robtas.

30-Mar-08
And so woz we!
But probably due only to the extra hint by Gspblu.
Found on our second attempt.
TN. Left coin.
Thanks ROBTAS.

30-Mar-08
robtas was here as we found the cache.
Took 'Team Fish Eagle' geocoin.
TFTC robtas, cheers.

29-Mar-08
Well a FTF to me but not without a lot more searching. Gspblu's hint will be helpful to future cachers.

Thanks Robtas for the cache

29-Mar-08
Went back today in the daylight and even with the new hint still had to search a fair bit. So as to minimize searching thru the grass the cache is about 1m directly in front of the sign in the grass.
Hope you don't mind this comment Robtas. Thanks for the cache.

28-Mar-08
After a couple of multi’s tonight my caching buddies were yawning and wanted to call it a night but I wasn’t ready to stop caching.
So after I dropped them off I drove out to ROBTAS WAS HERE for another look.
The coords weren’t in my GPS and the printout was on my desk, but I was certain that I could remember the spot and with the help of ‘the hint’ I was determined to get FTF
Near GZ I was a little spooked with the occupants of the parked cars watching me, and it was fairly (very) late, so I realized it probably wasn’t the safest thing to do on my own and made the decision to leave it for another time.
I will be back!! Thanks robtas!

26-Mar-08
What is one to do when it's drizzly and your stuck at home with a cacherboy on holidays? You go and try for a FTF of course! No luck on this one either I'm afraid. Thats two DNF in one day. Arrgh. We are so lucky having such great beaches around Hobart. A nice spot.

24-Mar-08
Well with 3.5 of us looking for a fairly easy to find cache does not look good.
Although it was dark, but if you don't have to trample the grasses it should be near the track. GZ was 0 with 4m accuracy fair in the middle of the track.
Will have to go back in daylight.
Thanks robtas

24-Mar-08
Embarrasing to not find it with three big cachers and one little one. Oh well maybe next time.
Thanks Robtas

24-Mar-08
Little embarrassing when the description actually reads "Cache not hard to find" and I/we have to log a DNF.
After the event we gave a good look (obviously not good enough) but came up empty handed apart from someones purse.
Thanks robtas, will be back for another look soon.
