Description
The worlds first cache that crosses over to a virtual world???
You do not need to go to the above coordinates!!!!
This is a virtual geocache that can be completed from the comfort of your own home.
This listing will not appeal to everyone, and unfortunately not everyone will be able to participate in this virtual find, but we hope that those who log this cache actually do enjoy their experience.
After first learning of Second Life through the GCA forums, I just had to have a look for myself. I also noted several other Aussie cachers had been involved to some extent in this virtual world, so an experimental cache linking real life to virtual seemed like it might be somewhat successful.
Minimum Requirements:
To participate in this virtual geocache, you must have the Second Life viewer installed, a broadband internet connection, and a free SL account.
Learn more about Second Life, and create your free account here.
Learn more about your system requirements here.
Navigation:
Log into Second Life and make your way to: Blackwood 32,96,2195.
If you are not familiar with navigation in the metaverse, use this link, which will teleport you to the right place.
The above coordinates should bring you to the place shown below:
Here you will find a puzzle that needs to be solved.
Logging your Find:
To log a find on this cache, you are required to solve the sliding picture puzzle. When you have the puzzle image displayed correctly, grab a screen shot of your avatar in front of the solved puzzle and upload it with your "found" log. Simple as that!
If you're new to the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to create a free account here. To enter a new log for this cache page, just select the "Log this cache" option under Actions in the right hand column.
Items of interest:
You'll notice a large board to one side of the sky platform. If you left-click it with your mouse, it will show this page on it's face. If you left-click it a second time, it will open this page in your default web browser. Very handy for logging your find.
If you enable streaming audio, you can hear the current stream from Triple J.
Just next to the media panel is a small box. If you click this, you will receive a free GCA T-Shirt that your avatar can wear. Please, no nuding up for a smiley at this cache. >:)
For previous finders of this cache:
As the logging method of this cache has completely changed, please feel free to return and and log another find on this new version.
This virtual is still far from what I had planned it to be, but at the moment it's about all I can manage with the current land I own. Hopefully in the future I may once again expand my holdings in SL and improve the experience for those new to this area of the 3D internet.

A slim possibility it could come back in the future.
had a little rough start but we got there and solved this cache
It took me a couple of re-shuffles to solve the puzzle, but I finally got there - see attached photo. Many thanks for the creative virtual, J&J.
Great idea and the puzzle took almost as long to solve as going out for a traditional cache does.
I guess a day on the computer and phones at work isn't good for the brain.
Thanks for the cache J and J, interesting idea.
Moved it to a larger parcel of land and updated the coordinates to match. Disposed of the annoying Rubiks Cube and altered the sliding puzzle script to remove the ability to reset it. Hopefully adding some extras to the area in the near future.
Thanks J&J for a novel cache!
Great idea for a Virtual Cache.
Thanks
Well, I was at least the LTF this one, having finally found something useful to do in SL!
(It's a note instead of a find as I don't count anything without an actual container, not just an avatar of one!)

It was my first time using Second Life. Didn't realise that I had an audience when I inadvertantly nuded up while trying to work out how to change the horrible clothes that I had selected by mistake.
My first thought was "don't tell me I have to watch for muggles on the computer". In the end turned out to be the cache owners, J&J, who were very helpful in assisting me with the controls.
Thanks for the cache, guys - interetsing idea. "McLovin Steinbok" will no doubt be back for a fly around and a look-see.

So, a few firsts! First virtual virtual cache, and the first time I've chatted to someone in this strange ol' Second Life! Must admit I don't have the time for it (caching, and other "THINGS" more than fill my time!), but it was a really cool idea!
AND I'm glad I had clothes!
TFTC!
Most of my recent SL visits have been to attend meetings or discussions. It was good to go in to "stuff about"
Thanks for a fun cache J_&_J,
cheers The Eltham Mob
Find confirmed by the owner.

What an adventure this was, firstly my video driver wasn't up to the job, so off to the Nvidia website and yep, good old automatic driver detection, 35mb later INCOMPATIBLE WITH YOUR HARDWARE so back to the website and a manual download of the correct drivers, installed, rebooted and off to Second Life, Logging in. Second Life may appear frozen. Please wait. and wait... and wait... maybe it IS frozen?! Second Life can't connect to version manager. Try again, Unable to connect to Second Life, AARRGGHHH!!!! Finally, FINALLY I get into the game, and there it is! I can see the cache just outside the window, I can almost touch it, now if I could only work out how to move, funny, that should work, I'm STUCK TO THE FLOOR! Well, exit the game and in again and it all works, hooray! Thanks J_&_J for the cache, and it was great to meet you in the game!
Spotto!
Okay bite the bullet and have a go. Confused myself many, many times and finally found where I should go to but couldn't get there (teach me not to read the manual).
Finally got the required information and sent details. Although this is a virtual it definitely took me outside my normal boundaries and taught me new things as well.
