Description
A good solid walk up to a remarkable geological feature, with fantastic views of the North East.
Located just south of Gladstone lies South Mt Cameron.
Next to this outcrop lies a huge Granite Monolith called Cube Rock.

Parking is probably best at the Little Blue Lake carpark and then walk to the start of the track at S41 00.179 E147 58.043
The start of the track is defined by orange arrows and the track itself has yellow markers for the up way and red markers for the down way.
Cachers with poor sense of direction should proceed with caution as the track has a habit of vanishing (especially since the recent fires in the area).
For this cache, allow yourself about 1.5 - 2 hours up and about an hour down.
Trust me, the view from the top makes it all worth the walk. On a clear day you can see some of the Flinders Island group, and a great panorama of the North East
This cache is not recommended in the wet as it looks like it could be extremely slippery at the top.
There is now a GC cache up here too: 'rock on'

A little disappointed it was so hazy and didn't have the long range views, but simply the panorama around the Mount Cameron range was worth it, with granite outcrops all over the place (and Mt. Cameron trig tempting me in the distance, bet the view up there is pretty good too!)
Was incredibly windy at the summit, almost got blown over a cliff edge at one point so I didn't spend as much time as I'd like up there.
Found the cache, snug and dry in its hidey hole - nice to see a decent sized container as well.
Thanks CraigRat, it is a shame this spot is so unloved. Trust me everyone, this is a better experience than spending a day doing 20 low D/T drivebys.

From there it was uphill through the forest.
But with still almost a kilometre to go, the forest cleared and gave way to the amazing granite formations that adorn the ridge tops of this range.
Balancing rocks, rock slabs and even a really big CUBE were visible.
The views down into the valleys and out to the islands weren't half bad either !!
Strolling slowly through this wonderland, I reached the rock in question. It doesn't look nearly as cubic close up, but it looks bigger.
The cache was an easy find and is in good nick and stocked to the rafters with goodies :P
TFTC and excellent bushwalk.

Tackled this one after 'rock on'. Another that took a little while (found a brilliant hidey hole to add another terrain star).
Took the bus, left a hakky sack.
Thanks CraigRat - its not so unloved anymore..

The walk wasn't difficult and was extremely enjoyable, and the views from The Cube would have been worth it at twice the effort. I enjoyed the forest too, and the area close to the end where it almost looks like there are elephants hiding amongst the trees all around you was terrific.
Cache itself in fantastic shape, well hidden, well stocked - just all around well done CraigRat!

Track non existant in badly burnt out section just past the small stream at the start; just as I was running out of hope of striking the markers again, although at the moment you can pretty much march anywhere in a straightline as there is no understorey to speak of, found the elusive target on tree but later a more obviously trodden path, small cairns and the occaisional scrap of orange tape eventually led me along the spurline winding around the bigger boulders to the Cube. Still being alone I was ridiculously thankful for any sign of previous visits -yes even the dry Dog Poop - the hair scrunchie, the Jim Beam tin ( incorporated into a cairn as I took some time to rebuild and add to the cairns as i went and waymark every other square because once the scrub grows back and more big trees fall the path may be too hard to find although the work going on at the lake below is promising.)

I lounged around like a shag on rock some 100 metres away while he placed the cache on the other side of the ridge, then beta tested it for him once he'd found a spot to hide the cache. So I can't really claim FTF (I had a head start - congrats FF), but I will log it as a find because for all intents and purposes I could have been home watching TV when he placed it, i.e. I didn't watch him place it, I had no idea where it was, so my conscience is clear as it being a genuine find.
Another top cache - I'm starting to sound like a fanboi here! But really, it is, honest, I'd say the same thing if the FF had placed it - top walk that wasn't too strenuous and a great view once you get there - now all it needs is some more logs!
