Description

Just before we get started ... There is no cache in the middle of Thomsons Lake, so put that boat away.

Those were the days ...
can you remember back not so long ago (1980) when home computing meant Commodore's - Vic 20 or even the Commodore 64

These high tech beasts had all the grunt anyone could want.
1 MHz CPU, 5k RAM (3.5k for the user), cartridge user ports and data casette players.

The days when home PC's were at there peak.

All you need to do is download this small zip file (37kb) and unzip both files into the one folder ... double click on the AutoRun.exe file and your task is nearly complete. It's a DOS based program that will run on windows and should run on most windows emulation software for MAC's etc etc...

Solve the task to locate the cache ... will you be the first?

If you complete the task with 1 to 26 points you'll only be given half the co-ordinates. If you score over 30 points you'll get the full co-ordinates and most likey a much easier find.

Have fun!

Here's a spoiler if you require one
spoiler

P.S. unfortunately our ammo box supplier has been found wanting over the xmas break and we've used all our supplies. This cache is a round tupperware container until supplies arrive and it will be replaced with our standard ammo box. The cache has a few new swaps and our traditional cache cards as well as the traditional items.

Well that really was a blast from the past playing the game - it was fun. I am pleased to say that we got all the co-ords and so off we went.
Sadly, I haven't logged this as a Found It or a DNF. We believe the cache is no more. The whole area around there has had a pretty intense fire. We found some melted bits at the base of a tree, which we are sure is where the cache was. We had a look at the spoiler photo when we got back and well, it is nothing like that anymore.

WARNING!!! This cache is located a couple of hundred metres from a carpark where I was parked while seeking another cache. I was only gone from the car about 30 minutes and my car was broken into (by breaking a quarter window) and gps mounts, cables and other items stolen.
Just thought you should be aware of the risk - if you see someone drinking cans of Jack Daniels I suggest you return to your car immediately and skip the cache. No proof but very strong suspicion.

Dropped by to pick up Easting TB at the request of Team_Yabudarra.
Was a lovely evening for a stroll.
Wrote in the log that I had taken it.
Went to Gozzies and left TB in "Chenies" cache.

Meeeemmmorieeeees........ That was fun, I remember playing Zork and Trinity on my first computer, a Commodore 128 that I bought off Chwiliwr when he moved on to the Amiga 500. I note he didn't mention it though, I didn't think it was that forgetable LOL. Took a minute to figure out things then off I went. Now I just have to actually go and find it which unfortunately probably won't be for a week or so. Sad

Long time since I played an adventure game - I wasn't much good at them - kids helped me out. Thanks for making it more interesting Smile
Great walk, enjoyed the hunt. Thanks for bringing us to this location, really enjoyed the lake with the paperbark trees. Saw a bandicoot on the trail. Beautiful location - very informative too. Didn't believe it was here.
Left Easting TB.

This was only our 2nd find, we did well today! At least we didn't need a boat to find it! I haven't played a text adventure since the late 80's, so that was a blast TLC, thanks! Got the co-ordinates and took off to the coast to look for Hendersons Cliffs cache, found it, then went looking for this one. Enjoyed the walk, and found the cache quite easily, but we were running out of daylight, so we'll come back another day and have a good walk around this lovely spot. Filled in the log, TNLN. TFTH. We had a blast today and are hooked...thank god its a cheap addiction Smile (err hang on, that gps cost me heaps)

The first computer I ever worked with was the last of the IBM mainframes that had lights. The next models become uninteresting blobs. On a personal level the first computer I owned was a Sharp MZ700 before getting an Amiga 500. They started me on adventure games and I haven't stopped yet.

Found the cache without trouble after obtaining a copy of the original download from Belken as the one that I got from the link never gave me any coordinates.

Took the garden buddy and left some toy cars and something else that I can't remember.

Thanks for the cache.

game.zip is as hard to find as a mint-condition VIC-20 at the moment...
It's not in that directory anymore (but I do like the fact the the 404 page is that WMD one!)
Can you put it back?

After logging the other new GCA cache we saw this one had popped up. I graduated from a Tandy TRS80 to a Commodore 64 specifically to play adventure games. The advent of the floppy disk drive and the release of Zork convinced me to part with my money.

The TRS80 took 11 minutes to load Haunted House from the cassette deck and before that me and a mate spent 26 hrs in one session playing The Msytery Fun House to completion.

The puzzle bought back a lot of memories and reminded me how I learnt to type. The only thing missing was the Syntax error message.

I ended up with 29 points on the first run through but it was Belinda that cracked the 31 points and off we went.

For those following there is a lovely limestone path that passes within 10 metres of the cache. Pity we didn't take it on the way in. We found the co-ordinates spot on and left behind a bush buddy thingy after removing the FTF card and doing a little dance.

Two in one day 100 kilometres apart. We have to go get help.
