Description

Frog on the Tuckerbox comes with a logbook and swaps.

'Leap Frog' -- the Moving Cache Race -- December 2011 until January 2012

Please don't hang on to the Frog for very long. If possible, re-hide the Frog on the same day you find it. At most, please find a new hiding place within 48 hours.

Remember that 'moveables' are meant to be found! Don't choose a difficult hiding place, or one that's far off the beaten path. Pick a place that completely out of sight of muggles, but which can be reached easily by frog hunters. And give a good clue!

This way, Leap Frogs will move on their way quickly and safely!

Enjoy!

Logs

25-Feb-12
Now in permanent retirement.

30-Jan-12
Although he would be repairable, it's so close to the end of the race that I'll retire this one.

28-Jan-12
After contacting Guripper and DGT to confirm the location - I returned to take another look. The other frogs I'd hidden in the area had gone, but no mention of Tucker.

Once again the GPS was sure it was the tree - which matched the info I'd been given. But I'd been told the hide was at waist height - but I couldn't see anywhere that it could possibly be - same as last time.

But this time I DID spy something. The bottom of Tucker's box sitting under the tree. That wasn't there last time. A little hunting turned up some of the swaps from inside - and eventually the lid which had half of Tucker still attached. A bit more search and I found the rest of tucker and most of the log book which had been destroyed. I searched a bit longer and think I found most of the pages. Doh

Not sure what happened to poor Tucker - but he's had a hard time of it lately. UncleTom recons he got attacked by a possum.

I repaired Tucker and took him to visit UncleTom to get a new logbook, but I think UncleTom will retire him a few days early as the race is almost over anyway.

Ribbit At least he was recovered and repaired. Still very interested to know where he was hidden. Ribbit

15-Jan-12
Havent seen Tucker since the race began (I met him while he was still with UncleTom) so tried to find him tonight. The co-ords took me straight to a tree, but alas I couldn't find Tucker. I hope he's already moved on.

Hi UncleTom
Found this caching croaker in the company of four other ribbits at 1630hrs.
Well shaded under the tree, they had a long wait to Sunday, today being Monday, before they could go to Church.
TFTC and cheers; OldSaint.

Found this frog before the recent event to celebrate the new year and watch the early fireworks. The number of frogs on the bonnet of JAB's car was amazing.

Anyway, a new log signature, and one anyone who saw play school as a kid would know.

Mr Frog jumped out of the pond one day
And found himself in the rain
Said he, "I'll get wet and I might catch a cold."
So he jumped in the pond again.

This one is now hiding with "Blue with Bling", not far from the New Year's Eve event. Two for the price of one (with about 30m of off-track walking)

31-Dec-11
After two nearby DNFs I thought it wasn't going to be worth wandering up the track, but it was, and I now have a very cute frog on a (small) tuckerbox (aka Sistema)

geo kid a, geo kid i and myself left at 5.21 on a frog raid to north west, and north tasmania. our goal was simple, to liberate the frogs from this region and bring them to civilisation Smile

we were successful though most of the north west, only missing a few frogs that had been captured by local cachers on the previous day.

In all we liberated over 25 frogs back to below the border - or at least the imaginary mason dixon line.......

all frogs will be released back to the wild tomorrow.

Anyway here is my log signature

This frog took his tuckerbox and sat down for lunch in the gardens...

13-Dec-11
The Frog on the Tuckerbox was the last in our frog sweep of the park, as there was a council vehicle parked right in front of it (literally!) when we arrived. Some time later after gathering other frogs, the muggles were safely gone. Thanks for the frog!

Another late starter to the race wanted to keep going tonight and get an early start for tomorrow. There are always lots of runners testing themselves on the steps - maybe one of them will give Frog On the Tuckerbox a lift.

10-Dec-11
Frog-nabbed on a second early morning raid into the Tamar Valley. Although on his tucker-box, this frog was very open and could have easily become tucker for other carnivores. Our 100th FTF. After replenishing the tuckerbox, this frog will be back on the road soon. TFTF UncleTom3

10-Dec-11
Rats, beaten to this one I suspect, unless the hide's trickier than we expected. Very Happy Hope someone's about to log it or we might have to go back for a serious search. Think

01-Dec-11
Frog is waiting patiently on his tuckerbox for someone to give him a lift.
