Description

The small town of Peterborough Vic is located on the Great Ocean Road approximately 247 kms South West of Melbourne.

It is a quiet fishing village and holiday resort that is popular with families.

The beach is ideal for swimming, fishing and surfing. There are also the calm waters of Curdies Inlet where you can swim safely.

Peterborough is located just 13kms from Port Campbell.  The area has limestone cliffs, offshore islands, rockstacks, blowholes and other great sights.

The Peterborough area was said to be settled when the wooden clipper the "Schomberg" was wrecked on a rock just east of Curdies Inlet in 1855.

At GZ you will be standing at an easily accessible lookout where you will be able to read some information about shipwrecks in the area whilst looking out over the rugged ocean and coastline.

There is also a information sign about the Indigenous communities that originally inhabited the area. There are Middens just to the west of Peterborough in the area around Massacre Bay.

The cache is a small sistema.  Look for the plaque that refers to the title of the cache.

There is no need to leave the path. Reach in and gently lift the ground cover.  Be on the lookout for muggles and place cache back carefully so as not to damage the vegetation.

Hope you enjoy this great spot.

Woo Hoo *FTF* at 1430 Thursday 5 Jan 2012

Heading down this way from Canberra to Mt Gambier and dropped by to grab this one. Very surprised, and happy, to see it had not been found and it was still a clean log when I grabbed it.

Haven't been down this way for almost 10 years, but it is still a great area to visit. Thanks for showing me this spot.
