Description

The jewel-eyed croaker is in a race

The Jewel-eyed croaker is a cute little jewelery box chosen to race around Australia in the Leapfrog race by our geodaughter. Please move it on quickly and log it here, it has no physical log. She would love her froggie to go farther than her brother's frog, such is the competitive nature of siblings.

Leapfrog Rules (not guidelines)

  • Your cache must be a genuine, bone fide frog.
  • Your frog may be store bought or hand crafted.
  • Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2011 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time)
Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2011
Please refer to the Geocaching Australia wiki for more information
  • You are welcome to join the game after it has started provided you list the hidden date and published date as 1 December 2011 and add the word leapfrog to your cache tags
The later you enter your frog the less time there is to get it moving, so you are encouraged to enter the game at the commencement
  • You are required to add the word leapfrog to the tags on your entry at Geocaching Australia
You can add the word leapfrog to your tags by visiting your cache page and clicking on Tag in the Actions section in the right hand navigation section of your cache page
  • The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2011 AEDST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2012 AEDST
  • The game administrators decision is final
  • You can not find and move your own cache during the game period
  • Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
  • There is no limit to the number of times other cachers can find / move the cache provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between
  • If a cacher moves your cache overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the same cacher may move your cache (within the country or to another country) without breaking the "2 moves" rule
  • There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
  • Other cachers in the game may find / move your cache, but they must move it on within 2 days

If anyone comes across jewel-eyed frog please send us a pm. we will pay postage to get our geodaughter's froggie home. Thanks

I checked back on this frog some time ago and it is definitelty not where it was hidden. I was hoping an absent minded geocaher had removed it and forgotten to log a find. But it seems to be gone. I hope your theory is right nutwood!

12-Nov-12
Realised that I'd have an opportunity to check this cache today so I printed a copy of the last hiders image.
Found the location, made a definite identification against the image, but no frog.
This looks like a child's fairy bower. The hide location looks like an ideal spot for a child's secret hide. My hope is that the child who created this, found the frog. It'd be nice to think that somewhere there's a child who's never going to not believe in fairies (good for fairy population!) and who's going to have a little frog to treasure for ever more. Much better than being a victim of casual looting!
I had a very good look but I'll be up here again with the family and I'll set the smaller half of nutwood to the task, just in case sharp eyes and small hands can find something I missed. She'll like this little hideaway regardless.

Had a good look for this fellow amongst the fairy wonderland. A lovely spot! We found the grass-woven mats and the strings of shells and stick constructions, but unfortunately no frog.

This is a place for those who beleieve in magic (or would like to!)

It is a fairy home I discovered while walking on the beach with the children. A truly special place that deserves special care. There are decorations made from strings of shells, mats woven from grasses and construction with sticks. I thought it the perfect place for Jewel-eye. I had trouble finding a spot that wouldn't be muggled so I will include a photo of the spot to look to make it easier for the geocacher to find. (And I'm a little rusty with the GPS)

What a beautiful froggie!

"Froggie went a-courting and he did ride uh huh!"

Jewel was taken for a long windswept walk along the John Palmer Coastal Walk. The poor state of the bridge stopped our little expedition and Croaker put adventure SECOND to safety.

15-Jul-12
Found and inadvertently put into camping box straight after the event where the Jewels were safe but the Croaks were in vain. Found after a big clean up and is now out and about.

Hi Makky
Firstly, thanks to JABs for making this an easy find. After looking for and finding the great multi "Carlton River" and two frogs, this cache was next on the agenda.
It was threatening rain and copped a couple of small showers on the way to the cache (from car to letter box), but not enough to deter my effort. it was raining last time I visited "9".
The cache was located at 1410hrs.
Was going to hide it again today, but the lure of more caches and the late inclement weather prevented me from doing so. Soon though!
TFTC and cheers;
OldSaint.

This pretty little frog is hiding in a sheltered spot not far from the river's edge. There are other frogs in the vicinity, so you can get quite a few for the price of one visit and a teensy bit of walking!

30-Jan-12
Popped up the hill to find this adorable frog which had been abandoned by its friends. Should be able to get at least one more move done before game's end.

Quick find. Very close to where Shatter was hidden gorbak, I don't know how you missed him. Jewel was well hidden under grass at end of beam on same side as shatter. Good hide.

23-Jan-12
I'm afraid we didn't have any joy finding either of the frogs hidden at this location this morning. It's possible that someone else has found it but forgotten to log, but it's probably just cache blindness on my part!

16-Jan-12
Rescued this poor frog that had been left down in the valley of love by oldsaint. Enjoyed the drive down, finding two caches and four frogs, plus a survey mark to log. So 7 for the 3 hours was a good result.

Thanks for the frog

Mr Frog jumped out of the pond one day
And found himself in the rain
Said he, "I'll get wet and I might catch a cold."
So he jumped in the pond again.

Hi MakkyBrown
Went in search of a couple of frogs that I had not yet seen, but couldn't find them. This one had been left in its hide and was a bit lonely so decided to move him on again. Found him at 1045hrs.
Happy New Year and Cheers

Sorry for the delay in getting this back out and about. You are looking for a little pool of three frogs having some fun together. Three for the price of one!!!!!!

06-Jan-12
Collected at event, but was in the wife's car and was only handed to me last night.

I think he is one of the best frogs out there. While pretty, he is also very strong.

Anyway, a new log signature, and one anyone who saw play school as a kid would know.

Hi MakkyBrown
Found the little NanoFrog and then headed to get this one.
Didn't like just hunting around the letter box so rang a door bell and surprise, surprise a Snuva answered. Great to catch up with her and her bubbly, bouncey little guy. He was full of smiles and experiences of this nature just make caching all the better. Thanks Snuva.
Grabbed this cache at 1230hrs. My apologies to Whitewebbs for their almost resultless trip. I muck up too easily using the phone so decided to wait to get back to Huonville to do the logging. Again, my apologies.
Cheers, TFTC and a great festive season to you and yours; OLdSaint.
