Description

Poor Gorban was an innocent frog. Hopping around the garden. Splashing in the pond. Burbling lonesomely in the night. Trying to survive Global Warming. The stuff frogs generally do.

It wasn’t an easy life. But he managed.

Then one evening, things got strange. Gorban was burbling lonesomely beside his bit of pond as usual, when suddenly, out of Nowhere (a mysterious parallel dimension from whence all Sudden Things came), a slavering, howling, radioactive garden gnome leapt at Gorban and bit him.

Gorban sulked. “What did you do that for?”

The garden gnome looked at the little frog with its glowing red eyes and shrugged. “I’m a radioactive garden gnome,” it apologised. “I’m afraid it’s what I do. Good evening.”

Then it leapt away howling into the bushes and was gone.

“Great,” Gorban sighed. “I suppose now I’m going to turn into a mutant, superamphibian frog-gnome freak?”

Gorban was right.

But it wasn’t all bad. He could punch through trees. He could eat bugs from six kilometres away. He had a great, shining, golden beard the envy of all gnomes and frogs everywhere. He became known as The Incredible Frognome, and even went on to star in his own geocaching game, called:

I Gnome What You Did Last Summer.

Oh no, not the Incredible Frognome!!! Shocked Well before this I was happy for him to continue travelling, but it looks as though he's been through enough...

If you want to log the Leap Frog Hospital then you're welcome to try and fix him, but if you can't be bothered then just put the bits in a box or something and bring him to the Magic Meal and I will fix him at home. Either way, he's going into retirement with Frogeater.

21-Feb-12
Found this morning but poor Frognome has been in the wars. He was hidden in a bush, that we've had occasion to visit once or twice before, lying on his back in a little pile of gravel that had leaked from inside him. I gathered him up as best I could and adjourned to where he could be examined closely. He wasn't as bad as I first feared, once the gravel was removed. I think he must have been trodden on as I can't see what else could have befallen him, hidden in a bush,
He's in three pieces and a bit cracked but he should be glue-able back together, although I'm not sure if he'll be up the rigours of travelling. Might be possible to fill him with resin?
Would you like me to have a go at fixing him or shall I parcel him up carefully and bring him to the magic meal?
I'll put an image in the gallery. SadRibbit

When I got back to my car I was surprised to find the Tassie Trekkers waiting... Didn't we do this just a couple weeks ago?

Found this frog and many others during a frog raid encompassing The Domain, Howrah, South Hobart and Mount Stuart.
In all, 47 frogs and a gnome were recovered and they will be placed out in the bush tomorrow. Maybe we'll take them to Cockle Creek, NO. Strathgordon or the old Hilton Hotel at Adamsfield! YES. They are good places.

He's a gnome. He's green. Therefore he's a frognome. Oh, I did that already! Whatever, he's entirely to be found lurking on the Frog's Domain in the vicinity of a large number of other frogs. Grab a bag and go frog hunting.

Got him again. One of four picked up from the JABs Letterbox Frog Haven (although I was expecting there might be more)

He might have gnome what I'd done last summer, but I didn't know what I'd done this morning! I collected Frognome on my way to an appointment this morning, (and re-hid later in the day) - but then got very confused as to whether it had in fact been "Frognome" or "A gnoming I will go". Luckily, "A-Gnoming" had some photos in its gallery so I could confirm who it was (or wasn't)! They were placed very near each other, but I'd ran out of time to search for any others.

Found on a quick caching run around the Scene of the previous days cache event. Makky brown you should have come into the event at least for five minutes after surrounding the event with frogs. It did make me laugh this morning when I saw the location of them all.

Thank you for the great hides

Mr Frog jumped out of the pond one day
And found himself in the rain
Said he, "I'll get wet and I might catch a cold."
So he jumped in the pond again.

Found this frog before the recent event to celebrate the new year and watch the early fireworks. The number of frogs on the bonnet of JAB's car was amazing.

Anyway, a new log signature, and one anyone who saw play school as a kid would know.

This confused mutant has gone into hiding again, but just off a lovely little walking and cycling track. There are three other frogs (including the rather scary Frogeater) in the vicinity.

27-Dec-11
It's green. It's a gnome. Therefore it's a frognome. I know what I did last summer, and it didn't involve gnomes, unfortunately, so this makes up for it. He's on his way again.

And he is back out causing havoc in a busy area. Should be easier to retrieve than he is to hide. Seems to have glowing eyes and a strange effect on those nearby.

27-Dec-11
Gnabbed. Oh my this cache obviously cast some kind of charm over us as we got out and left the car with the keys sitting in the ignition. Embarassed luckily there were no quick enterprising thieves around at the time. Spell now broken but we shall move this one on quickly Ribbit

This guy is just plain weird. He certainly knows how to make the other 'normal' frogs feel very uncomfortable so we found him a knew spot to rest. Even the rocks we placed him between seemed to want to move away.

25-Dec-11
Found this guy after a bit of a search. Had temporary frog blindness. Or, maybe it was the surreal and scary powers this frog?????? Seems to possess.

Hi Hookline
Had taken Mum to get her done and then hid a frog of my own. Picked her up from the hairdresser and went in search of this little green guy.
A quick find by the banks of the Huon River and will put him back on his journey later in the day.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours;
but above all else, a safe Festive Season to you all.
I gnome what you did last year and frognome in leaps this year! Well done!!

Interesting frog this one. Found him a private location with a nice view. There's some special considerations to take into account if you wish to visit his secluded spot. Consider the location carefully. Ribbit

PS I just looked at the location on the caching map. It's a bit misleading. Suggest using Google Earth. It's all a question of timing!

07-Dec-11
When I was hunting yesterday I noticed a fair quantity of footprints on the bank. Noticed the same today down the road at the y's Jumpa cache. Do you reckon you've got a frog stalker in the area? Either that or someone's not DNFing? Shame on you
Today's hunt was fine. There were muggles in a nearby house having breakfast. They gave me a froggy stare but I just smiled innocently as I gnew I had the frog in hand Very HappyRibbit

07-Dec-11
Very glad to hear he didn't decide to go and move in with a local Muggle, which I was starting to think was a possibility. Thanks Nutwood.

07-Dec-11
How right you are, cached. Did a quick sweep this morning. Found the Frognome quite readily after yesterdays ignominious retreat, helped greatly by jawapro's note. GPS still said down the bank but I ignored it and had no problems. Ribbit

07-Dec-11
Tried for 3 frogs in Ulverstone this morning - all DNF. Suspect somebody has done a run through and not logged yet.

07-Dec-11
I hope he hasnt gone missing...

If no one logs a move, I'll head back to see if I can still find him.

07-Dec-11
After reading previous note, tried in daylight. No luck for us.

06-Dec-11
I left him under the bush at the top of the bank. I walked away and followed my coords back and gz was pretty much spot on, the bush in question has cleared ground on either side so it should be easy to find.

06-Dec-11
Couldn't locate this one. Co-ordinates had me half way up a steep bank overlooking the park and river. No obvious frog (or gnome) within a few metres of GZ so, in the absence of a hint, I was faced with the prospect of beating the vegetation in ever increasing circles. Someone came out of a nearby house to check me out so I figured it was time to leave. WhistleWhistle
Assuming someone hasn't collected, any chance of a hint? Scrabbling about that bank looking is going to do damage.

06-Dec-11
Thank you Budgietas! Very Happy

Went to Ulverstone to hunt another frog - but failed. Figured I could give the Frognome a lift though - so dropped him off looking over the river.

05-Dec-11
Ever since I saw this guy's name - I wanted to meet him. And here he was in Devonport! Excused myself from work for a few minutes and picked him up. There were a lot of builders at work nearby that probably wondered why someone would come and go so quickly - but it was mission accomplished for me.

I have been put in a tree in the grounds of a school for tonight. Not the best spot because I think the kids come here during the day to be out of the sight of teachers on duty and it is rather littered with various things. Can you get me away from here?

02-Dec-11
We started at the bottom of the hill and marched (well, trudged!) to the top. Once there, accurate coordinates led to a quick find. But what did we find - a blast from the past rejuvenated for the leap frog race. We will humour Frognome and let him continue his quest tomorrow. A FTF. TFTFrognome hookline
