Description

Moveable Cache Race 2001 :: Built upon the bones of gnomes :: The empire of the Toad

No one would have believed, in the last days of 2011, that gnomish affairs were being watched from the timeless world of the swamp.
Gnomish plea

No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope
studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few gnomes even considered
the possibility of life in the marsh and yet, across the gulf of mud, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this place with envious eyes,
and slowly and surely...
they drew their
plans against ...
us.

Built upon the bones of gnomes-
The empire of the Toad

Toad EmpireAt midnight on the first of December, a huge mass of luminous green gas erupted from the swamp and sped towards us. Across two hundred metres of void, invisibly hurtling towards us, came the first of the caches that were to bring so much calamity to Earth.

As I watched, there was another jet of gas. It was another cache, starting on its way.

Please move the frog on quickly and post the new coordinates.

This is an entrant in the 2011 moving cache race - Leap Frog.

The aim of the game is to see how far or how often our cache can be moved within the game period.

Please move the frog on quickly and post the new coordinates.

Rules

The race is from 1/12/2011 to 31/1/2012 so it would be appreciated if finders can move it on quickly far and wide within Australia during this period.

The rules of the "Moving Cache Race Game" are published on the Caching Games site

Logging this cache is easy:

First Step: Log your find with a 'Found it' log (this will give you your smiley!)

Second Step: When you have moved the cache to a new location, log a 'Moved' log, adding the new co-ordinates and even a hint in the hint box if you wish.

Logs

This cache has been temporary disabled for over 90 days, so we will be archiving it to de-clutter the database.

When the cache is ready to be activated again the owner can place an 'unarchived' log and it will go live.

Indeed the toad did swim the mighty Murray. It was recaptured and has been returned to the home swamp for a little recuperation.

A quiet swamp life to follow.

Late in the afternoon whilst doing a reccy to locate a fallen gnome we passed by an undisclosed location, Its so secret i would have to kill you if i told you, we stummbled across this little fellow in need of some loving Shocked , we picked him up and helped him hop on again, we will stretch his cramped leggs and help him find a sunnier place to rest again, after some minor recouperation and a new log container we will release him into the wild again Dancing

Ah-ha, all is revealed. I was sure we left this frog at Interlaken and then here he was hopping about Hobart?
Fair enough I suppose as he must have run out of gnomes up there. Very HappyRibbit

Hi SamWalkers
Needed a drive to relax and to find some caches.
Anne and I left Huonville about 1030hrs this morning to go to New Norfolk first and then on to Interlaken cache hunting.
On the way we visited the news print mill at Boyer, by-passed bush fire on the way to Bothwell and noticed how much the scenery had changed in the many years it had been since I travelled the road from Bothwell to Lake Sorell.
Arrived at Dago Point and gave Anne a quick tour of the camp grounds and the huts. Then on to search for this cache, one so far out of the way from the main stream of caching that it was time for retrieval. Now that I found it, others won't have to go there to look for him and I think that's fair!.
Found and logged the little blighter at 1437hrs.
From here onto Rabbit Hut, hopefully for another find.
Upon our arrival back in Hobart, we went to the event "Haunting Lives" where the "Bones of Gnomes" was put on the table.
Just arrived home and am now logging my find and the little frog can have a night in the warm instead of being out in the cold at the lake.
TFTC, the great drive and the thrill of the find
Cheers OldSaint.

Got this aggressive frog back out there. We briefly had Gnomeo in the car with us and it was starting to get nasty so out this frog had to go.
Currently ensconced under a pile of rocks, beneath a concrete water tank. Hopefully no gnomes will venture near, with or without Thunder Child! Very HappyRibbit

Collected this frog in the dark last night. Collecting frogs new to Tassie is not a business to be undertaken lightly. We crept up on GZ in fear and trepidation of being trekkered under foot but to our surprise there wasn't a TT in sight. Very strange!
The risk was definitely worth it. What a great frog! Love the story.
Thanks for the frog and we'll get him (her?) back out there promptly. Very HappyRibbit

Well after an extensive ride interstate with the 2y'stassies and after getting accustomed to the weather on the southern side of Bass Strait, it was time for this little fellow to start his exploration of the southern island. We hope he doesn't have to stay here as long as the previous occupant of this hide.

When we found the ICEM Wangaratta cache we quickly looked through teh contents of the cache, signed the log and left. Then we started to look for this cache. It then came to us that one of the objects in the cache container may have been this cache. We hastily returned and, sure enough, this likeable cache was holidaying in the ICEM cache container. We rescued it and will move it on in the near future. TFTC

The frog had resided under a rock for a few days, before deciding it needed to be relocated. Having parked here recently for another "job", I knew the location pretty well, but not well enough to access it quickly. Once at GZ the rock was obvious. Taking him away for a holiday, might leave him halfway there.

This was fun, popped in for a coffee lunch break and surprised one person when I advised that I was taking the frog. Luckily one other person knew about it and we had a chuckle whilst trying to explain the game to the young lady. This is a really cool frog, reminds me of the Lizardmen army that my son used to collect and put together. Have to say that the paint job on this one is a whole heap better than Andys creations but he had fun at the time.

Shame I can't keep this frog, it would look brilliant on my desk at work. ah well, must settle for showing it off for just a few hours this afternoon before finding somewhere for him to hop off.
