Description

Tania the Smoking Frog

Tania was gifted to me by Tess (thanks!). She tracked her down having a smoke behind a two dollar shop and thought what a good cache she'd make.

She should be pretty easy to locate. Just look for a cloud of smoke and listen for that rattly breathing.

So as Tania would say:
HACK, COUGH......where are we off to now love?

This is a moving cache created for the Leapfrog Project game on www.cachinggames.com that runs from 1 December 2011 until 31 January 2012.

Moving-cache hiding tips:

  1. When you grab the cache please rehide it again elsewhere asap. 48 hours is a good guide but I know that life sometimes gets in the way.
  2. Log your find here on geocaching.com.au with a Found it log as soon as you can so others are not trying to find the cache you just moved.
  3. When you rehide the cache, log a Moved log and put the new coordinates in the "Add waypoint co-ordinates to log:" box. This allows the software to automatically update the new location.
Enter your co-ordinates in the format Sdd mm.mmm Eddd mm.mmm
You don't have to include the degrees or minutes symbols when entering updated co-ordinates but you should leave a space between the degrees and minutes.
Try a copy and paste of the example co-ordinates into the new co-ordinates box and type over them.
  4. Add a hint for the new location in the Hints field when you enter the Moved log.
  5. Please look after this Frog.
  6. Wherever possible, try and keep to the difficulty / terrain rating as originally listed.

When you hide it somewhere new, please add a good hint to help seekers to find it.

Finally, have fun. I know I will.

What a great adventure I had with elthamkiwi finding my own moveable cache! Very Happy

I'd never explored this area of the world so the excuse of gathering in my own cache after more than a year of it being stationary finally got me moving.
We parked at the 15000 siphon trestle bridge and made our way down the road without the car. "I could have done this in the 2wd" I thought, until we came across the first tree down across the track. Shocked By the time we climbed over the second I was becoming more pleased by my decision to leave the car behind and proceed on foot. Laughing I probably could have forded the river though! Razz

Making the quick find of the lonely frog we turned back, forded the pretty river again, said hello to the many trout and set about picking some of the many ripe blackberries we had passed on the way down. Mmmmmm! blakberry jam tasts so good.

Now to get this well travelled Frog home and into a well deserved retirement. RibbitRibbit

Tania has been skulking in the back of the car and we plumb lost her! Good news she is now happily outside and able to have a ciggie at last... She was dying for one.

You will find her hiding behind a spiky bush ( look for the rosehips) near two blue markers that are off to the right. Stand looking at tuggie parkway and you shouldn't have any issues spotting the bush.

Out and about today, and stopped in to grab Tania in between rain showers. Will move her on up the road, she had a few slugs hanging around, but we ditched those before telling her to lose the smokes as our geo mobile is strictly ' non smoking'.

I was cleaning out my shed and spotted this frog sitting round. I am so so so so sorry that I have had it in my possession for so long. Well I moved it on tonight and took it to a GCA event - yes you did hear right, a GCA event.
I left it on the table so hopefully you get a few found logs and I think it has been taken by the capable hands of Leighside legends.

Saw this one was still hidden nearby so went for the find.

Clambered under the bridge to find a micro cache but no frog - surely this was not all that was left. Then I remembered that there was a cache on this bridge so looked a further afield and found her smoking away.

She will attend the Xmas picnic tomorrow.

Team Ladava was down in Geelong visiting the grandkids and reacquainted ourselves with Tania.
I know smoking is addictive but this is ridiculous.
Nobody seems to log GCA movable caches in Geelong so let’s move you on to 'greener pastures'.

Well, that didn't take long, she found some scattered evidence of local ash waters and is camped out here at the local frog drop off watching the planes until morning!

Cough, cough, cough ... She smells delightfully of tree now, must have swapped that last pack for a local mix Wink
Thanks for the drop off!!! Will be out again as soon as we find a new stash of cancer sticks

Picked up by Team Ladava returning home to Sunbury after a very pleasant lunch with our son and daughter-in-law from Berwick.
The frog population has become a little low on the western side of Melbourne so let's restock it a little with the seven we picked up today.
Although I don’t approve of the filthy habit Tania sure seems to be enjoying that big fat cigar.
Cheers

As I did not pick the frog up, I'll log a moved log to let others know it is still here.

03-Jan-12
I decided to go on a leapfrog hunt on the way home before going out for the night. I had planned to log finds on ten frogs, and was successful on finding them all. On about the third frog I reached down and felt a sharp pain in my right eye. I had spiked it with a leaf of a nearby sword grass plant. Little did I know at that time it was going to be a very long and painful recovery over the next five days. While I was able to manage a cache a day over those days I spent most of my time lying flat with the eye bandaged shut. They don’t call it cacher grass for no reason!! Thanks for the frog!

Well that didn't go to plan. The idea was to drop the frogs we picked up from Wattle Park this morning near our frog (http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga3467) to encourage someone to pick ours up. I ended up entering the park in the wrong place and couldn't find my way across to my frog. Tania jumped out of my no smoking bag and hid near the path under some bark.

Looks like 10 frogs is too many for me to handle. Coordinates are from Google Maps. I'll try to go back and confirm ASAP.

21 Dec: Coordinates updated. Sorry haven't been able to back 'til now to update.

The largest and heaviest (sorry Tania I meant err curvy, buxom, cherubic) Leapfrog so far. She got into a squabble with Artemis (who came off second-best and is awaiting some medical attention) vying for the attention of the other frogs in my backpack. I'll move her on soon once I find a suitable spot.
