Description

Be afraid, be very afraid.  The war clouds are gathering.

After losing his beloved fiancee to a French chef, the evil Emperor Bufo Anura has has invoked old frog magic and has called on the ancient frog clans to join his amphibian army, hellbent on seeking revenge on humans everywhere by dining on our legs!

The only way the evil Emperor can be stopped is by keeping him moving, thus preventing the armies of the warrior clans from ever reaching him.  If he stays somewhere for more than a day or two, we're all in for the chop!  It's up to you to save us all.....

The evil Emperor Bufo Anura is an entrant in the Leapfrog competition.  Please make sure that you rehide the cache and update the coordinates within two days.  Thanks for playing.

The Evil Emporer's one red eye stare was becoming a bit disconcerting.... Dunno what his plans were but ours were pretty simple - let's ditch this freaky frog. Laughing Dropped off at a rest area with a big parking spot. A short walk along a track will get the next (un)lucky finder in the evil one's sight.

Gee, I'm not sure we're ready to take on all the baggage of this evil one eyed fiend but as he was hiding with two others I thought I might be gnawed off at the knees if I didn't. Wink Hope to move along sooner rather than later... TFTM 5LittleJacks.

As usual, GCA moveables left at a GC Mega can sit around for a while...look at the number of trackables still listed at any Mega.

Any moveables still listed at the Queanbeyan Mega are currently being rounded up and will be moved on as soon as possible.

Journey or Destination

Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST

It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.

On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.

For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.

Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.

Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.

Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.

Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.

Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.

Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.

Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.

At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.

Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.

A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing

The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache was physically found by you during the game period

The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache

The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period

The geocache is one of the following types:

Burke and Wills

Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache)

Traditional

TrigPoint

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced

The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more)

The geocache is one of the following types:

Moveable

Traditional

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.

The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.

Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.

The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.

The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.

Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.

Found the Evil Emperor hiding under some bark and had just extracted him and was about to leave the area when a black Woolies shopping bag was spotted nearby in a burnt out stump. On inspection it was found to contain a number of moveable caches that still appeared to be hidden in the bush at Mornington. Not sure if these had been picked up by a cacher who put the bag down and forgot it or had picked up sometime ago and not logged as picked up or moved. We will take them on a trip and get them out again.

I found this with Nevilles' owner, the last time I had Neville round my place he drank his fair share of my beer so god knows what the The evil Emperor and him got up to before Goose got home.

A different looking cache i must say, thanks for letting him loose.

Since his retirement, Neville keeps having parties at home when I go off to work. I leave him sitting quietly and then come home to him and his mates yahooing all over the front garden. Fortunately he only had 6 movables visiting him so things were not too out of control....... this time! (Neville is a gnome who retired after the GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo game a few years ago).
Thanks 5LittleJacks for this movable. The evil Emperor Bufo Anura will be moved along shortly.

Buffo has moved to become emperor of a new area and has brought a few others to be his kind-of-loyal subjects. Loyal until someone rescues them from the evil emperors spell.

My kids wanted to meet up with me down at this beach but we were running late to join them so I decided to stop and see if I could find a couple of moveable caches here. Found one but not the other. Found a LOT of rubbish too. And needles! Take care when looking for this cache.

On this day I went out to do some caching with Geoson. We found those we wanted out and about but I'd also heard of this cache and needed a physical find for the day so headed over to "find" and log the cache in the late evening. Signed for both Skypirate and I (although he hasn't as yet set up an account). Very cute cache container but my first impression was an emperor cane toad.

#GA538 - 15:00; I had dropped the geohoney to an appointment and continued off on the day's mission to fill a couple of hours while I waited for her. I decided to head down to La Perouse/Little Bay to have a look around an area I had not visited before ands perhaps grab a cache or two while I was at it. I picked up a couple of the local trigs and decided a walk along a nearby pathway might be productive. This was the fourth of five I collected on the journey. Operation: Dawn of War (Clan Phoenix Clan Phoenix Gnomeland Raid)

Cache Condition:
The Evil Bufo Anura is looking radiantly evil... though Zhaoy says he is missing the coin that should be in his mouth!

Operation Summary: Leaving Sydney at 4am to reach The Gnomelands by dawn I kicked off the 'The Great Mount Piddington Moveable Challenge' with a raid of freedom to release over 60 moveables from their mountain prison to freedom. 4.5 hours of morning caching saw a good few sack-fulls return with me to Sydney.

The caches have been moved to St Leonards for some TLC and a bath so don’t go looking for them there. They will be released shortly in various locations.
