Description
2011/12 Moving Cache Race Entrant.
Frog Killer.
Frog killer is an owl. A big owl. A very big owl with a large beak and big shiny yellow frog-hunting eyes.
Frog killer has already swallowed some unsuspecting frogs. These frogs happen to be trackable swaggies.
Hurry and rescue one!!!!
The swaggie frogs can be kept, or released as swaggies - your choice.
Please take only one per finder.
Please put frog killer out as soon as you can, and remember that this is a race, not a complicated search. Don't make it too hard for the next person. Thank you.
Let's all have some fun!
And for the purists, Frog killer does have a genuine, bona fide frog about his person.
Rules (not guidelines)
- Your cache must be a genuine, bone fide frog. It may be store bought or hand crafted.
- Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2011 Australian Eastern Time (GCA Time).
Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your cache on 1 December 2011.
Please contact an administrator if you would like to know how to accomplish this. - The game commences at 00:00:00 1 December 2011 AEST and concludes 23:59:59 31 January 2012 AEST.
- The game administrators' decision is final.
- You can not find and move your own cache during the game period
- Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
- There is no limit to the number of times other cachers can find / move the cache provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between
- If a cacher moves your cache overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the cache mover may move your cache back to the country of origin without breaking the "2 moves" rule
- There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
- Other cachers in the game may find / move your cache, but they must move it on within 2 days

Caching in the area and stopped to find Frog Killer - unfortunately we could not locate him (:

pick up at Brimbank and dropped at Banjo Patterson Park, Lynbrook.
What a huge frog killer.
I met him at the Meet the Moveables event at Brimbank Park.
Last seen in the hands of a couple of new players who were keen to find a place to secrete him out of the view of muggles.
Hope he continues to enjoy his travels.

Come and meet the moveables. The migration has begun. https://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga13115

Periodically the Geocaching Australia review team checks moveable caches that haven’t been found or moved in over 90 days.
This moveable fits that brief, however reading previous logs it seems to still be at the posted co-ords and is just sitting there waiting for the next finder to give it a go.
So, if you’re in area why not stop by and help it on its way.

#GA3052 - 08:50; In Melbourne for a big footy weekend and with some time to spare on a fine Saturday morning, we headed to Queenscliffe to add another dragonZone to our tally. Stopped off to log this cache on our outward journey. I've only recently dropped off something similar to the north of here a week or so back. Not enough room to take it with us today, so left in place for the next finder. TFTC Just a cacher

Found on an excellent footy trip to Melbourne with Sol de lune and LuckyL10n. While on our way to Queenscliff we decided to log this moveable on our route. A quick find at GZ, and once it was signed, it was replaced for another cacher to grab. Great container and idea - TFTC JAC!
A weekend trip to Melbourne to attend a few AFL games with LuckyL10n and Toy Hunters.
This morning was a run down to Queenscliff via Geelong for a few caches and this was our first stop. No problem finding the cache, I mean, you couldn't really miss. We made to decision to just sign the log and leave the cache in it's secure hiding spot.
Thanks JAC....cache is all good and waiting for the next finder/s.

Somehow we ended up with a hoard of moveable caches in the boot of the cachemobile. Over the last couple of days we've been gradually rehiding them around the countryside and today we've managed to get the last of them out in the Trevallyn Reserve
Found this cache on a trip through Wynyard picking up moveable caches in the area. Will move this one towards the north of the state. TFTC
Frog Killer is back out and ready to be found.
Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers in the North West and Frog Killer was spotted in the hands of Tassie Trekkers before being hidden for the next part of his journey.
We are participating in the States of the Nation games which are currently running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.
States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.
There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.
Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.
Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy.
Go Tassie! Go Tassie!! Go Tassie!!! Go Tassie!!!! Go Tassie!!!!! Go Tassie!!!!!! Go Tassie!!!!!!!

We have moved him a bit further down the road where he can keep an eye on the hard-to-solve 'An Amazing Cache'. Thanks Just A Cacher.
We haven't come across this scary looking fellow before. We will move him further on down the road. Thanks for organising the moveable Just A Cacher.
Well frog killer is rather large quite frankly just too big to have him rolling about the back of the car. So, a drive up the road of about 250 metres found another spot worthy of housing him for a while. Eager and waiting for the next intrepid hunter.. thanks..!!
Out and about this morning with a few things to do about town. A bit of a detour on the way home found me hunting for this devilishly handsome fellow. thanks..!!

The Frog Killer is back out again in a great reserve, think we may have left him here the last time we had him. At least we knew this spot would be big enough for him not to feel too caged up
A quick find in a great spot on our way to Launceston, mr sharnie's tribe went in after him but then nearly overbalanced coming back out again, all good though. TFTC
Out along the coast near a froggy spot....cheers ST.
With the recent ratty weather up here in NW Tassie it was nice to see a sunny day, albeit quite windy.Having an unexpected trip east was a good opportunity to grab a couple of gca caches which also fitted the various dz requirements quite well.
As soon as I had put my hat and boots on, Murder(the younger of the two canine family....4 yo) started to get pretty excited as he just loves both bush walking and travelling around in the geo fourby. My eldest canine...Sirius...is now too old(16.8 y.o.) to leave the comfort of his bed in front of the wood heater...which has an electric blanket of course(which he just loves and is great for his arthritis). Having walked 100's of km's with me geocaching over the years up numerous mountains, bush walking along many trails plus along vast stretches of beaches etc while geocaching, he has certainly earned his rest..an amazing companion who never gave up no matter how hard it was for him...a truly remarkeable companion.
The first cache I was able to find was 'Great minds think alike' which was situated at the entrance to the historic Clarendon House....some intetesting info....
Australia’s grandest rural colonial estate set in 7 hectares of parklands on the banks of the South Esk River, this magnificent three-storey Georgian house has servants’ quarters, a heritage walled garden, several farm buildings and a rare avenue of elms.It was built in 1838 as an extraordinary statement of achievement for wealthy wool grower and merchant, James Cox, who was born in Wiltshire, England.Although Clarendon was built with convict labour, Mr Cox was known to treat his convicts well and he later played a major role in the abolition of transportation and convict labour.Entry to Clarendon Estate includes the gardens; Australian Fly Fishing Museum with kids’ fish feeding pool and riverside access for anglers and picnickers; Clarendon Fashion Collection with precious gowns from the 1830’s to 1960’s; and the Norfolk Plains Heritage Centre, offering photo collections together with family history records and advice. The house is accessible by guided tours or special events and is also available as a truly unique venue for hire.
The cache was quickly found with the container covered in quite a bit of mud. The log inside was all dry. On signing the log I looked across the grounds to see a chap sitting outside one of the buildings, no doubt wondering what the hell I was up to.Many thanks for placing the cache Tassie Trekkers and for bringing me to a place I'd heard plenty about but never really knew where Clarendon House actually was.
Now it's off to find the cache 'Frog Killer' not too far away.
This cache was a quick find, hiding high in a tree waiting for his next meal no doubt.
Many thanks 'Just a Cacher' for placing this cache out there for us all to enjoy...cheers ST.

As I turned for home this large owl flew from my car into the trees. He should be safe there from muggles, tied in with a lifeline! Please park safely and should be a quick park and grab. There is another moveable in the same tree but down low.
A nice day for a little walk. I was very surprised when I saw this fellow up a tree. I was looking for a much smaller fellow and was very surprised how big he was! Not easy to smuggle out of the bushland. Now where to put him??
Frog killer has returned to Tasmania for another flying visit. He enjoyed the flight from Adelaide and provided much amusement to the security people at Adelaide airport. I don't suppose they get to Xray many owls!
I'll pop a couple of images in the gallery of FK relaxing along the way.

I've eyed (
) this cache off before but it was too hard to access so I didn't miss the opportunity to swoop this time!
If I can solve a small transport problem, SA frogs will be safe for a while.

"Weird Owl" Yankovic is now hiding in the Onkaparinga River National Park, just off of Old Quarry Track.
The owl has been perched in a tree next to Lake Albert for more than a year. It's time to fly the coop!
Surprisingly, this cache took a while to find. I discovered an empty bottle of Jägermeister right in the centre of the tree. Maybe this owl has a dependence? I looked upward from my position at ground level, and saw a rather ominous looking bird staring back at me. Yay!
Upon arriving back home, our cat Poppet treated the intruder with a fair bit of suspicion, as can be seen in the following video: https://youtu.be/8Wux1Fhi91c
Thanks for the gifts! We grabbed a pathtag and a frog charm, which Mrs J will love.
This cache will spend a short while at our house, and we'll re-hide it somewhere interesting soon.
Thanks Just a cacher.

As we headed towards Adelaide this large bird demanded to be released so we have left it perched in a shrubby bush.
Picked up while picnicing in this nice park. Will put it out again soon.

Has moved to the NW hoping for another trip.
Thought it was a bat as we approached. But no it was Frog Killer hanging upside down in a Sheoak. Will move on atthe weekend.
Hi Just a cacher

Back out in a reserve worthy of this fine cache
Dropped mr sharnie's tribe off at the bottom of the track to find the cache while I drove round to the top to pick him up. He looked a little surprised by what he'd found, he thought he was looking for a killer frog! TFTC
Frog Killer is hidden on Round Hill with a nice view but no frogs. It is safe in a tree that once held a now archived cache.
What a great moveable cache. We found this one hiding under a pile of bark behing a tree. Glad we didn't meet anyone on the track as we looked rather odd walking with this cache. As it had been there for a while we will take it on a little trip. Dont know whether owls like ferrry rides but quess we'll find out. Frog killer appears to now be harmless having lost his beak. Thanks Just a cacher for a great caching experience. We will move Frog Killer on soon.
found and left for the next person to move as I'm on my bike and he is a tad to big tftc
This one is now ready to be found again.
Flew over into hiding place for next finder

Dropped off to continue it's travels.
Now in Sunbury in Team Ladava's hands.
Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1200. This wise Old Frog Killer is now at the above co-ords.
Dropped off near a drop bear. Perhaps they'll have an altercation and one of them will need to move on again.
Moving on.
After being muggled out at five GC's in the last hour I gave up and concentrated on GCA's; a much better proposition
This cache is heading north. Perhaps even interstate as I have a trip to Sydney late next week.

Oops - in my rush today I missed the fact there were many swaggies inside (I did notice them, but didn't stop to investigate further). I will try to stop in before it moves on again to rescue one!
Left in place for the next finder, but covered it up again with bark strips as the cache was completely exposed when found.
I needed a few finds before an event tomorrow where I was hoping to clock up my 2000th GC+GCA find, so nicking out in my lunch break I tried for and failed at another attempt of a nearby cache... Luckily I spotted this and another GCA moveable nearby and this time the find was an easy one. Smile In a hurry I've left this cache in this accessible and safe location for the next finder. TFTC
Next of the bunch of GCA moveables here tonight and I had the stash in hand quite quickly at 20:40.
Left in place after signing the log.
A very generous cache
