Description

A Leag Frog cache plus raising awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

One of 3 frogs in the 2011/2012 Leag Frog GCA race.  The repetitive behaviour frog is characterised by having his feet over his ears.  Repetitive behaviour is identified in the ASD Triad of Impairment.  Often people with ASD exhibit repetitive behaviours.  A necessity to follow routine, hand flapping, limited interest (i.e. the same TV show again and again) and self injury are all examples of repetitive behaviour.  Reducing repetitive behaviour is approached by slowly sabotaging the routines of a person with ASD (i.e. making them choose a different colour shirt) and trying to broaden their interests.

  • Caches must be found and hidden by the same cacher (i.e. no mailing the cache to another cacher to hide)
  • There is no limit to the number of times other cachers can find / move the cache provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between
  • If a cacher moves your cache overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the same cacher may move your cache (within the country or to another country) without breaking the "2 moves" rule
  • There is no limit to the distance other cachers can move the cache
  • Other cachers in the game may find / move your cache, but they must move it on within 2 days

Out and about in the Brisbane area for the day and this was the second stop. Wasn't confident I'd find this was one of the many areas affected by some the recent Brisbane floods. You can still see the debris lying around the area. Checked a lot of the possible hidey holes but alas nothing could be found.

Unfortunately I'd say this one is gone, so might be time to archive it.

We picked this one up in the light showers. THe umbrella and the building cover led us on a merry walk around the park till we finally settled at a very likely spot.

After the pizza incident ASD Frog became very quiet. Don't think he liked the idea that he could became "cuisses de grenouille". He was happy to tag along on our road trip today and became excited when we got to Shaws Bay in Ballina.

He wanted to stop and watch the pelicans and dolphins from a safe spot and no I don't think he was planning his next pizza toppings.

Perhaps is because we've moved enough frogs for us to be tuned into the frog network, but we awoke to the feeling that we needed to find us some frogs - in particular a group of frogs in Riverhills. With this notion ringing in our ears we packed a picnic, filled the car with fuel and headed off.

Our destination was an interesting little park that reminded us of man's ability to generate electricity, a short walk following the arrow and three small frogs greeted us. Although ASD Frog seemed a little shy.

Since both of us have had experience with humans with ASD behaviours we thought it best to gather them all and take them home together. While my home would be an unfamiliar place for him, surely the comfort and security of those he had travelled with would help calm him.

I should not have been too worried, while he did not speak on the journey home, as soon as I began to make pizza for dinner he hopped up on the bench and began to regale me with all sorts of facts about pizza, pizzas he had eaten, the best and worst pizza toppings, and criticizing me on the fact that I was using a premade base and not making my own - over and over and over again. Rolling Eyes

I tell you, I was getting close to slipping him into a hot oven for 10-12 mins. But I refrained, obviously pizza is 'thing' and I need to be patient with him.

THIS FROG HAS BEN FOUND AND REMOVED.IT IS NO LONGER IN TOOWOOMBA.

I have been in Toowwoomba a few times since this frog took up residence with my ICEM cache. I did not pick it up because I knew that I would not be in a position to shift and hide this one in a spot where the chances of it being found and moved wer.

In Toowoomba today to visit my parents for Christmas and it was still there.

Will hide it tomorrow in the River Hills area of Brisbane. TFTC

What ia better then doing a little froghunt on a beautiful saturday evening? Doing it together with a couple of cache friend. At arrival Blak&White were just returning so I thought I misseds out on all the frogs in the area, but for some reason they missed two. We all returned together and finished the search for the missing ones!
Thanks for the fun Fluffyfish!

It was shortly after finding this frog that Wilbert67 arrived and together we searched for the other caches hidden nearby.

Took forever to hide because of interruptions of the muggle kind. An attractive location though. Pretended to do up my shoe lace as neighbours on their decks enjoying the breeze.

The great frog hunt has begun. Arrived here after going via Nowra. Made two finds in this locality then back tracked to do a GC cache so I could move on a coin. As I drove past again noted a car & wondered. I looked as best I could but didn't see anyone. I'd find out later on that it belonged to a fellow cacher. Thanks fluffyfish.
