Description

Portal to the Underworld - Caroline Springs Walk

One can only guess what lives down there.

Caroline Springs, just 25km west of Melbourne is a thriving community with a great trail of paths and walkways between the artificial lakes, ponds and creeks. Set in 800 hectares of grazing land Caroline Springs was developed on greenfield land since starting in 1999. At the north of the suburb is the town square and main shopping centre known as CS Square, and a man-made lake known as Lake Caroline. This series of geocaches takes you along some of the lesser-known pathways around various creeks and waterways on the edge of Caroline Springs.

The cache you seek is a 200ml Sistema container pained to blend into the surrounds. Always be aware of snakes around water and leaves and think before you put your hands into any hole or where you can’t see the ground.

Today we started caching in the area and this was one of 21 caches we found.

Cache and contents are in good condition.

Many thanks caughtatwork for placing this series of caches, we enjoyed our wander around the area.

Before arriving at this location, we wondered what "portal" we would see - it was obvious on arrival. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find of a cache in a well protected hide. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks caughtatwork for the cache and series.

Next stop along the trail. Arrived at GZ and employed the hands and knees approach again only to find the cache stuck under its hiding spot. Had to maneuver things a little but eventually the cache came free and I could sign the log. Cache was replaced and I was soon in my way again.

Thanks again C@W...cache all good.

###FTF###

I pulled out the treadly dusted off the cobwebs.

After dropping the geodaughter at school I headed to the springs area for some smileys.

Well this one was weird.

I looked all over a likely GZ with no luck.

Then I spotted it out in the open.

Interesting not.

A ransom for the pathtag buried a few metres away.

No time to dig so I placed behind a rock in the treeline just behind the stormwater for the next finder.

TFTC Very Happy
