Description

Gazania - Caroline Springs Walk

Gazanias can be considered a weed, but when they flower, they add colour to the somewhat under developed side of this estate.

Caroline Springs, just 25km west of Melbourne is a thriving community with a great trail of paths and walkways between the artificial lakes, ponds and creeks. Set in 800 hectares of grazing land Caroline Springs was developed on greenfield land since starting in 1999. At the north of the suburb is the town square and main shopping centre known as CS Square, and a man-made lake known as Lake Caroline. This series of geocaches takes you along some of the lesser-known pathways around various creeks and waterways on the edge of Caroline Springs.

The cache you seek is an upcycled micro (which you may mistake for some trash). Always be aware of snakes around water and leaves and think before you put your hands into any hole or where you can’t see the ground.

Logs

Today we spent our day geocaching in and around the Caroline Springs area, This was one of 18 finds. Cache and contents are in good condition.

Many thanks caughtatwork, enjoyed our day exploring the area.

Next stop along the trail and after a short search the cache was in soon in hand. The log was actually stuck in the cache, glued to the connection I think. It did come out, but was ripped in half as a result. WhistleWhistle Log is still fine, just in two halves, so no need for any maintenance. Very Happy

Thanks for another one C@W...

A maintenance run this morning for some of the local caches that need a welfare check. This cache was in poor repair and has been replaced.

16-Apr-22
As mentioned in our log we found the container full of water and the log sheet unuseable.

After being unable to find the previous cache we continued our walk around the track. We had to look closely to the Gazania patch to spot the object mentioned in the hint. After poking around for a few minutes Mrs Y'stassie remembered that she hadn't checked the cache size. A quick check had her starting a fresh search that soon uncovered the tiny container. On opening the container the contents were found to be extremely wet and the log roll tore badly as we tried to extract it.

After drying the container as best we could we tore a strip of paper from the bottom of our recording sheet and left it as a temporary replacement log.

Thanks for this cache caughtatwork. We appreciate the work you do in placing these series of caches. This cache is in need of an owner check.

We were very surprised to note we were first to find at 10:50.
