Description

Parker Park Velodrome is one of the few velodromes located in the metropolitan area of Melbourne. It is available for both recreational and competitive cyclists.
Resurfaced in 2000, it is renowned by past and present Olympians as a great Victorian training and racing venue.

Despite its modern surface, the velodrome is steeped in history, being used as a training venue for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games and by the training squads for the 1960 and 1964 Olympics. The upgraded track is available for residents to use and is now home to the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club.

The cache is easy to get, but muggles can approach from all directions and in various forms of transport.

Bring your treadly and do a few laps, (as long as the the pro's aren't training). nearby there is a golf driving cage, tennis wall, cricket nets and a fantastic playground (yep thi palyground is a winner!) and with all the bbq essentials.

A GCA FTF pathtag is there for FTF.

Sorry for the delay in disabling this cache. Have not been on the email for nearly a week.

Went to check when I visited this cache and found the container open and full of water and the contents spread around.

Grabbed the cache so it wouldn't go missing totally and will get it back to joffa1970

This is my 1st GA cache. Found on the way home from work. Had to wait for a few muggles before retrieving the cache. Was visible from the road so made sure it was well hidden.
TNLN. Thanks for the cache

Hmmmm Think Had a good look around for this one, but seeing it described as easy and after not being able to find the feature described in the hint we gave up. Recent disturbance at GZ also made us suspicious that all is not as it was when the cache was hidden.
We will try another day.
Thanks joffa1970

Found this morning with Wild Josh at around 11.15am. Cold morning but still had some muggle activity. Clever hide in not the first place I thought it might be. Tooks the pathtag - thanks to the Solomon family. Thanks for the cache Joffa Smile

A couple of attempts at this one, due to nearby muggles, sitting in their truck having lunch. Eventually found it. I now see how this one would be easier at 4.30am, PrincessDiala!

Found by Bob at 1350

I was on my way down to Brighton to visit some family and thought I'd take the opportunity to grab a few caches on the way. I've been pretty impressed with the standard of these 10th Anniversary GCA caches so far and had no trouble parking nearby and making a quick grab of this one - although, as there were quite a few muggles using the nearby facilities, I used the clue to make for a quick find. The container was absolutely covered in little ants and I had to give it a few bangs to knock most of them off, but I still got a fair few on me.

TNLN

Thanks Joffa1970 - there used to be a caughtatwork cache in this park a little further east from here, I think.

Found by The Empire @ 8:05am with TLR
Find number 4 out of 35 today. There was a dude cycling nearby, no not that nearby, on the road, checking out what we were doing. He left after a little while and TLR quickly made the find. Thanks for the cache.

STF around 9:00.

Congrats to PrincessDiala who found this cache while I was sound asleep. Looks like I'm going to have to get up earlier in future, or maybe just forgo sleep entirely!

The area is about 1Km from my work, so was pretty convenient. I'd looked around the area for a hiding spot myself in the past, but joffa1970 had obviously more imagination.

Thanks joffa1970 - An interesting spot. Need a few more out this way for me to get before or after work.

The last cache of my night time adventure somewhere between 4:30-5am (sorry I forgot to keep track, but I wrote it in the logbook). 8/8 finds for the morning.

Another easy find to finish my night time anniversary caching adventure.
I couldn't see much, it was dark, and I didn't explore further.

By this time sleep was once again calling me. I arrived home around 5:30am!

Took FTF prize.

Thanks joffa1970 for placing a cache for this anniversary and being part of my night time adventure!
