Description

Summer's finally here! With daylight saving and warm balmy evenings, there's a chance to get a bit of exercise after work and that's what this cache is all about. As well as being in the Moveable Cache Race! (see the details here http://www.cachinggames.com/mcr/index.php)

It's a moving cache, but it needs to stay within the Sydney Olympic parklands so it keeps it's "fun and fitness" attributes. The idea is to make a bike ride around the parklands more fun, by finding and hiding a cache along the way as well.

In fact, this cache is to get blossom* fit! Every time someone moves the cache, blossom*s challenge is to ride around the parklands, find the cache and rehide it. So the more you move it, the fitter blossom* will become! And if you go for a ride to find and move the cache every time blossom* rehides it, you'll get the fittness benefits too!

There are a few simple rules

1. The cache must stay within the boundaries of the "Sydney Olympic Park Map" found on their official web site http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/Visiting/maps Please rehide it in a parkland area, not the Town Centre among all the buildings.

2. When you find the cache, you must move and rehide it again that day and log the new co-ordinate before the end of the day.

3. You can find and move the cache as often as you like, as long as someone else was the last person to hide it (otherwise, you'd know where it was, and what's the fun in that!)

How do you log a moving cache? Easy, first write a "found" log which gives you a "smiley". Then write a second log for "moved" and enter the new co-ordinates and a clue.

There are some really great little spots all over these parklands so I hope you can all discover a few of them and show some to others in return. Help keep that cache moving and get blossom* on her bike as many days a week as you can!!!

Found quickly and logged. Luckily I read the description before I ventured out so I knew I had to move it. Not being a local and not having internet all the time, I only moved it a little way because my next stop is the airport and I don't think blossom* would like to ride to Tasmania to retrieve this cache.
Thanks

Hadn't grabbed this one for a while so picked it up while checking on Mobility Stealth. I can remember when Blossom would ride out each time and move this after someone else had moved it.

This is a great little spot. Well, I thought it was a bit of an adventure anyway! Low tide might be easiest and there is a nice clear approach from the path from the south where you won't need to push through long grass or shrubby plants.

There can be a zillion people riding, walking and jogging along here but that doesn't matter becasue once you've got the cache, you can take it away and it won't matter who sees where you've been!!

I love it when goole maps shows the cache in the blue of the water!!

Luckily I had a doctor's appointment today at Rhodes was able to get to Bicentennial Park and enjoy a really lovely walk afterwards. Along the way I sussed out several likely spots to re-hide the cache "when" I found it so it took quite a while to actually get to the right area.

Once there, the gps was pretty good but not quite stable enough for pinpoint accuracy. I wasn't quite sure what "traditional hide" meant but I was hoping it didn't mean "in the middle of lots of scratchy clumps" becasue there was a vast area to search in that case!!!

On the premise that there ought to be something obvious if only I looked at the right spot, I wandered around for about 10 minutes and began feeling quite sad that I might not get the chance to use any of my new hidey-holes that i'd found.

But then I saw the stone against the tree and immediatley knew I was in luck! Thanks guys, it was another fun search. I sat on the seat and listened to the frog's choir practice as I wrote in the log again. Isn't it a fabulous place?

They had just missed the Movable so I chipped in an leant a hand. We had a good chat and decided we would go seek another nearby GCA cache, Wentworth Wetlands, so we took this with us and re-hid it on the way to our next destination. Cheers Strikalight! Zac and I rode over (actually he did the riding) to find this cache. After 15 minutes of searching all we found was a Rivercat, which we enjoyed watching.

As we sat an pondered why we missed it, we bumped into Zalgariath. After we returned to GZ, he found it straight away.

This was a bit of a shambles! I printed the cache details first thing this morning at work and planned to leave right on time. Well THAT didn't happen. The buses seemed to have all disappeared once I left work so I was pretty late getting home. Not to worry, grabbed the bike, changed my gear, got the gps and a notebook and pen and headed off. Oh, I might just look at the cache on google maps to see the best way to get there........
Oh! It's moved! Well THAT was lucky! I headed off to a spot that was a fair long ride from home and found the cache but it was getting pretty late and closer to dark. Figured I might take a short cut across the river but the ferry wasn't going the right way so I rode all the way around and got home just after dark. It's a real shame summer has to end.

Hey, that's in the middle of the water. How do I get there? Was a little puzzled when I looked at the map on the GPS but thought Blossom wouldn't have gone swimming to place this, so there must be an access point.

Headed one direction after reaching the edge of the mangroves and finally decided this is too hard. Retraced my steps and heade in the other direction and once the distance was close headed into the swamp.

Cache soon spotted, great location.

Aaaarrrh!!!! I printed this out on Thursday but didn;t have time to get to it as it's starting to get dark earlier these days and i don;t much like riding the bike then. So I figured I'd have a lovely ride in the early morning freshness. It was great with a king tide making eveything quite different along the river.

I had a quick check on the map before I went and the cache hadn't moved from it's spot - or so I thought. Got to the spot and searched, gps was perfect, clue was spot on but not a cache in sight! After a while, my brain began to wonder if geomatica might have grabbed it after work but not logged it's next move. Quick call, nup. OK, a call to home and some rather painful time stepping through how to get on the computer and look up a cache on the web site to someone who doesn't know anythng about the internet.

Ah-ha! New co-ords in hand and the cache was found. If only I'd known it was so close, I could have found it so easily but it never occurred to me it had moved but such a short distance.

Now here's a nice spot I prepared earlier!!I went for a ride back in November sussing out good cache locations and this was a spot I'd found and prepared. Ideal time to use it I reckon. Geomatica might like a lunchtime walk, Ropes might like a morning's ride or Team Lego Men might like a quick before-work drive-by! Of course anyone else may want to find out what all the fun's about too and jump in and join the game.

After finally getting my bike back with new gear change thingy, it was great to get out for a really long ride today. There was heaps of water everywhere and all the grass areas were very water logged. The parkland near this hiding spot was absolutely covered in ibis digging in the swampy ground.

I'd had a look at this spot for a cache myself but hadn't got very far in my thinking so it's great to see it used. Hope there's a new one there real soon!

Thanks geomatica, you certainly have a nice view from your window. I thought you might be working back a bit tonight so we could have a coke at the drink machine when I'd found the cache! Don't forget me if a nice job comes up in your office there Smile

It was a VERY long walk from Concord West railway station to this hiding spot(my bike is being picked up today from it's repairs thank goodness). After about half an hour's walk to get here, I figured I might catch the ferry across the river rather than walking back to the train and luckily a ferry that wasn't supposed to stop pulled in and gave me a lift.

Good one Ropes! This is a lovely peaceful spot.

I had a great ride today with the tides round here fascinating. With the King High tides also comes the really low ones too and there was water pouring off everywhere and huge expanses of mud showing that you only see once a year.

By the way, don't worry about any nearby caches. The rules permit placing this one as close as you like to another cache and even IN another cache if you want.

Today is a king tide so I hope the cache stays dry! I used a handy brick to cover it so that should at least keep it in place.

Sorry blossom* - looks like you've been able to rest for the last couple of weeks. I resisted the temptation to give you a serious bike ride by putting it up my end of Olympic Park which would have added a few kms to the journey from your place. So only a short move, should be an easy find as it is on top of the boardwalk.

I was planning to have a look for this cache this afternoon if time permitted, but when i came out of my exam and started looking for the cache on the GPS it wasn't there (none of the GCA caches were showing up, but an upgrade of GSAK fixed that) so sorry blossom* you'll have to have a day off you're riding.

Another little clear spot amongst the mangroves with a nice view if you want it. The co-ords shouldn't be too bad but the hiding spot might have you stumped for a bit. You could get your shoes a bit muddy if you're not careful, but I didn't!!

Wow! Lucky save Ropes!! I'm quite surprised that this cache became uncovered in less then 24 hours. I expect you saw where it WAS hidden and it was tucked in there quite snugly. I suspect it was a muggle animal who uncovered this, muggle people tend to keep them rather than leaving them lying around on clumps of grass.

As you can see, I found your hide quite safe and sound. I had been thinking I'd have a nice quiet evening at home and then saw you'd moved the cache already! So I hopped on the bike with only a cursory glance at the map and headed off, only remembering to make a note of the co-ords at the last moment!

With the wrong spot in mind, I started to search while the gps was warming up and found an old rusty cache! I think it's probably been archived by now since I can't find it on the sites but it hasn't been retrieved.

Weird, I thought. So I made my way to a closer spot and started searching there. Weird, I thought, I can't find this cache. But it was there, well camoflaged in the dark.

Thanks Ropes, I enjoyed my afternoon ride and exploration.

This is an interesting little spot to sit and listen to the birds. They've renewed the information signs here recently and that's a good clue for the cache which is at dirt level. You shouldn't need more of a hint than that as the gps reception here is very good (unlike amongst those mangroves!!!)

Your turn ropes!

It was just as well there weren't too many passers by here. My gps complained the whole time that it couldn't find any satellite. "Are you indoors?" it asked plaintively. no, I assured it. "Have you travelled a long way?" No again. Then it accused me of telling it the wrong date!

Luckily the clue was helpful enough and I eventually spied the little pile of typical stones you see around caches! Thanks for the ride tronador

This spot I'd been to before and is well secluded, so search your heart out without being sprung by the muggling hordes.

No one around on such a peaceful mid week day. Even got to drive the V8 super car track cause it's still there. Parked in a very convenient spot and had a most pleasant and peaceful walk to GZ. In fact, I missed the closer entry point to this well secluded hill and did my own lap of the course. took off X country and then realised what the mown grass meant. What a pleasant spot and one that I never knew was here in spite of living a few minutes away. A well camoed caching colour, almost missed it. Blossom* needs to get her bike ready.

The cache is now in this quiet and peaceful spot which I hadn't realised was here. It's been great exploring to find new spots to hide the cache each time I visit and this is another little gem. There is a small pond and a seat to relax and watch the scenery. I don't reckon many people come here so you will probably have the place all to yourself.

What a fabulous evening for a bike ride. Headed over to Olympic Park and found the cache at a lovely spot with a good seat nearby. At first I thought it might be a needle in a haystack but again, Team Lego-men made it easy enough to find. Thanks for all the moves to date, I hope some others will join in too because it really is fun exploring all the little quiet corners of the parklands.

Nice little spot early in the morning. Quite a few water birds nearby. Good parking is available at S33 50.337 E151 04.313, then it's a nice short walk / ride along the path to GZ vicinity.

Headed here this morning. Finding the location was pretty easy but that last metre was the hard bit. GZ was underneath a casuarina with very low branches, one of which took a nice chunk of skin out of my head. Poor Blossom hasn't had much exercise for a few days, lets see what we can do about that.

I was all set to go get this but the road nearby is closed all because of stupid motor racing....don't they know there is a much more important race on. I didn't have time to go park in Bicentennial Park and walk across.

There wasn't as much of a headwind on the ride over today but this location had plenty of stretches that were straight into the setting sun! I got to the general area of GZ and wandered around looking for a likely spot to hide a small sistema. After a bit I began to think the clue had meant "needle in a haystack"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually I decided to get as close to the correct co-ords as possible and seach the haystacks near there. And lo! I found the cache. Very thoughtful of you Lego-man as I hadn't been here before.

And the co-ordinates were absolutely spot on, almost as if you had conferred with someone else as to their accuracy.

Moved it a bit further away. Hope it's not in the middle of the V8 Supercar track. That would get Blossom peddling faster.

A harder walk to find it this time, the tracks didn't seem to go in the direction I wanted to head. Ended up going cross country. Satellite coverage was not good under all the trees. Found a pop up sprinkler near GZ, pulled it apart thinking maybe the cache has changed. No good, found another pop up sprinkler, there everywhere. Then found the spot that matched the hint. Success at last.

You'll have to get a bit of exercise yourself for this location!! Good parking spot at S33 49.820 E151 04.285 but you'll have to ride or walk from there. My gps wavered around a bit so you might need the clue.

I wouldn't mind a rest day tomorrow so no need to rush.

With a VERY strong headwind, it was a tiring ride to pick up the cache and move it on. And of course, the wind changed on the way home so it was a headwind the other way too!

Woohoo! FTF. Third for the day. This one sounds great, I like the idea that Blossom has to go and find it every time it moves. Come on cachers, let's get her out there exercising. Easy find, was able to park close by and grab it. Thanks Strike A Light.
