Description

Summer's finally here! With daylight saving and warm balmy evenings, there's a chance to get a bit of exercise after work and that's what this cache is all about. As well as being in the Moveable Cache Race! (see the details here http://www.cachinggames.com/mcr/index.php)

It's a moving cache, but it needs to stay within the Sydney Olympic parklands so it keeps it's "fun and fitness" attributes. The idea is to make a bike ride around the parklands more fun, by finding and hiding a cache along the way as well.

In fact, this cache is to get blossom* fit! Every time someone moves the cache, blossom*s challenge is to ride around the parklands, find the cache and rehide it. So the more you move it, the fitter blossom* will become! And if you go for a ride to find and move the cache every time blossom* rehides it, you'll get the fittness benefits too!

There are a few simple rules

1. The cache must stay within the boundaries of the "Sydney Olympic Park Map" found on their official web site http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/Visiting/maps Please rehide it in a parkland area, not the Town Centre among all the buildings.

2. When you find the cache, you must move and rehide it again that day and log the new co-ordinate before the end of the day.

3. You can find and move the cache as often as you like, as long as someone else was the last person to hide it (otherwise, you'd know where it was, and what's the fun in that!)

How do you log a moving cache? Easy, first write a "found" log which gives you a "smiley". Then write a second log for "moved" and enter the new co-ordinates and a clue.

There are some really great little spots all over these parklands so I hope you can all discover a few of them and show some to others in return. Help keep that cache moving and get blossom* on her bike as many days a week as you can!!!

Is this moveable cache still in the Sydney Olympic parklands? It seems a while since Blossom has got on her bike! Laughing

Yet another ZEAMMAFF Frog Find. Wink

03-Jan-12
Found at the fabulous ZEAMMAFF Event! at Concord West, NSW!

Lots and lots and lots of Leapfrogs and gnomes in attendance! It turned out to be a great day for all Leapfrog and Gnome lovers, a great event with great people attending, we all had a ball. Not a Frog or a Gnome but a moveable all the same.

Thanks to Zal for making it all happen!

03-Jan-12
This coving cache joined many frogs (as well as a few gnomes) to boot Zalgariath back to Europe at ZEAMMAFF. Things were really hopping as more and more frogs arrived during the afternoon, by the time the event had finished, over 55 movables had hopped onto the table. Of course, with that many frogs hopping around in one place, something was bound to happen, and one poor gnome was bumped to the ground, requiring a trip to gnome hospital and a serious stay there, but the less said about that the better.

It has been a long time since I DNFed this one, but today I was not to be denied even though I had to wait for quite a while as there was a large mob of school girls waiting to board a couple buses and i did not want to loiter around until they had gone.
No problem finding the cache and it is on it's way to pastures new.

This is hidden not far from where Geolady hid only a few minutes earlier this afternoon. There is no hint for the hide this time - however if you are quick enough to find Geolady, this one will be an easy find.

I came looking for tadpoles and frogs, but only found a bike cache, which has been duly moved on within the hour.
This cache has been around for a while, good to se it still going - I last found it in Feb 2010, so abot time I dod so again.

This one hasn't been found for quite a while so it is time that it moved. This is a great area, just a pity that muggles were sitting at GZ for the other nearby cache. TFTC

the board walk area has been fenced off. Access to the cache has probably been cut off. I did venture to the start of the board walk to have a look, but nothing was there.

Didn't go far as I just dropped in to leave National Treasure in it's place. Found a nice easy to grab hidey spot with a good log signing bench near-by. Thanks again for a bit of Olympic Park fun!

31-Jan-11
I knew the location as blossom* showed it off last time I was in town. Although the grass was not as long and I was smart enough to dodge most of the spiders this time! Don't despair, follow blossoms instructions and now you will find GA1689!

30-Jan-11
The cache is still there. I reckon roger must have had a "man's look" Laughing

Go in from the path through an area that has a group of little plants in cardboard tubes and walk past the fallen log in the direction it is lying. If you keep going, you will come to the edge of the area where the mangroves start and ahead of you and a bit to the right is a bit of a rise that makes a small island with green weedy groundcover. If you go across the dip to the island, there is a mangrove on the left edge that has a hollow in the trunk at hip height, with the cache and an oyster shell on top of the sistema.

My gps had trouble getting closer than 10m accuracy and my co-ords ranged a bit further north and east but it ought to be fairly obvious from this detailed description.

13-Jan-11
Sorry Blossom* I could not find it, I did find a likely tree with a hollow of sorts at the exact co-ords but no cache, I probably put too much trust in my GPSr and should have ranged a bit further.

Yeah! A lovely warm afternoon and I managed to get home in time to head off for a ride. As I rode up to GZ, there were 2 muggles sitting right opposite me chatting. Oh no, I thought! Then realised it didn't matter at all Very Happy
So I began my search and I suspect they must have wondered what on earth i was doing. Only took a few minutes and I had the cache and was able to hop back on my bike and ride away.

Off you go Blossom*!! We rode out to the Armoury for an ice cream and then back along the river through the park to the ute. I had entrusted the re-hiding of the cache to my muggle friend... and naturally she chose to ride up the cool looking windy hill! Unfortunately it was muggle central, devoid of safe hides for a small cache and most importantly... home to "Urban Everest" so not the best spot. Eventually we got to another great area of the park and hid it just outside "The Loop"... good luck!

Moved with Team Legomen in tow as driver. Ive logged this cache as moved on the 21st as TLM will log a find for the 20th that way it will look (correctly!) that this is still hiding where the pointer is!

For those of you a little confused... yes Nanango and Lizzy Moveables are also both listed at this spot, but only MOVE IT! is actaully here Very Happy

20-Oct-10
Grabbed Zalgariath away from the boredom of watching his computer, checking what caches had been just been listed that were out of his range and headed to this.

What a shame that Blossom doesn't get out and cache close to home these days. It would be a lot cheaper for her to get on her bike and grab some of these rather than going to South Australia to notch up a few more smileys.

The trolls made this a bit difficult. We were concerned that it may have been placed below the high tide mark but all was fine.

Took us a little while at GZ to locate the damn thing but eventually we got there. Next we decided to create movable cache pandamonium by hiding this one at the exact same spot as where two other moveables are currently listed! hahaha Twisted Evil This is the only one currently residing there still so not to worry Very Happy

This cache was my primary target during some spare time today and I managed to get a car park very close to it. But a group of kids with skate boards where right on top of the cache so I went for a walk. An hour and 4 caches later I returned to find the area empty and a quick find before getting changed and heading to my function.

Thanks.

Found quickly and logged. Luckily I read the description before I ventured out so I knew I had to move it. Not being a local and not having internet all the time, I only moved it a little way because my next stop is the airport and I don't think blossom* would like to ride to Tasmania to retrieve this cache.
Thanks

Not the quitest spot but it is an interesting little area of water. The birds in such a small area tonight were amazing. Take the time to stop and look at the black swans nesting just near GZ.

Hadn't grabbed this one for a while so picked it up while checking on Mobility Stealth. I can remember when Blossom would ride out each time and move this after someone else had moved it.

I think old age must be catching up with her.

This is a great little spot. Well, I thought it was a bit of an adventure anyway! Low tide might be easiest and there is a nice clear approach from the path from the south where you won't need to push through long grass or shrubby plants.

There can be a zillion people riding, walking and jogging along here but that doesn't matter becasue once you've got the cache, you can take it away and it won't matter who sees where you've been!!

I love it when goole maps shows the cache in the blue of the water!!

06-Jul-10
Luckily I had a doctor's appointment today at Rhodes was able to get to Bicentennial Park and enjoy a really lovely walk afterwards. Along the way I sussed out several likely spots to re-hide the cache "when" I found it so it took quite a while to actually get to the right area.

Once there, the gps was pretty good but not quite stable enough for pinpoint accuracy. I wasn't quite sure what "traditional hide" meant but I was hoping it didn't mean "in the middle of lots of scratchy clumps" becasue there was a vast area to search in that case!!!

On the premise that there ought to be something obvious if only I looked at the right spot, I wandered around for about 10 minutes and began feeling quite sad that I might not get the chance to use any of my new hidey-holes that i'd found.

But then I saw the stone against the tree and immediatley knew I was in luck! Thanks guys, it was another fun search. I sat on the seat and listened to the frog's choir practice as I wrote in the log again. Isn't it a fabulous place?

They had just missed the Movable so I chipped in an leant a hand. We had a good chat and decided we would go seek another nearby GCA cache, Wentworth Wetlands, so we took this with us and re-hid it on the way to our next destination. Cheers Strikalight! This is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the view in the evening. I hope the co-ords are ok as I didn't have a pen with me to write them down!

09-Mar-10
This was a bit of a shambles! I printed the cache details first thing this morning at work and planned to leave right on time. Well THAT didn't happen. The buses seemed to have all disappeared once I left work so I was pretty late getting home. Not to worry, grabbed the bike, changed my gear, got the gps and a notebook and pen and headed off. Oh, I might just look at the cache on google maps to see the best way to get there........
Oh! It's moved! Well THAT was lucky! I headed off to a spot that was a fair long ride from home and found the cache but it was getting pretty late and closer to dark. Figured I might take a short cut across the river but the ferry wasn't going the right way so I rode all the way around and got home just after dark. It's a real shame summer has to end.

Hey, that's in the middle of the water. How do I get there? Was a little puzzled when I looked at the map on the GPS but thought Blossom wouldn't have gone swimming to place this, so there must be an access point.

Headed one direction after reaching the edge of the mangroves and finally decided this is too hard. Retraced my steps and heade in the other direction and once the distance was close headed into the swamp.

Cache soon spotted, great location.

This is a quiet backwater and hidden haven for the local birdlife. Long grass along the way will be wet and sticky if there's a heavy dew. And a liberal spray of aeroguard might be handy too!

04-Mar-10
I left work a bit early today to be sure to have my ride in daylight. It's very sad to see the days getting shorter. This was a nice little spot to watch the birdlife with not a soul in sight at 6pm or so.

There's a seat positioned right here that gives the perfect view down the river. You can see the correct tree on google maps (again) so you shouldn't need the clue.

27-Feb-10
Aaaarrrh!!!! I printed this out on Thursday but didn;t have time to get to it as it's starting to get dark earlier these days and i don;t much like riding the bike then. So I figured I'd have a lovely ride in the early morning freshness. It was great with a king tide making eveything quite different along the river.

I had a quick check on the map before I went and the cache hadn't moved from it's spot - or so I thought. Got to the spot and searched, gps was perfect, clue was spot on but not a cache in sight! After a while, my brain began to wonder if geomatica might have grabbed it after work but not logged it's next move. Quick call, nup. OK, a call to home and some rather painful time stepping through how to get on the computer and look up a cache on the web site to someone who doesn't know anythng about the internet.

Ah-ha! New co-ords in hand and the cache was found. If only I'd known it was so close, I could have found it so easily but it never occurred to me it had moved but such a short distance.

Great to be back on the bike after a bit of a break. It seems my legs have lost their fitness yet again as I was pretty tired after today's ride! Geomatica might like a lunchtime walk, Ropes might like a morning's ride or Team Lego Men might like a quick before-work drive-by! Of course anyone else may want to find out what all the fun's about too and jump in and join the game.

After finally getting my bike back with new gear change thingy, it was great to get out for a really long ride today. There was heaps of water everywhere and all the grass areas were very water logged. The parkland near this hiding spot was absolutely covered in ibis digging in the swampy ground.

I'd had a look at this spot for a cache myself but hadn't got very far in my thinking so it's great to see it used. Hope there's a new one there real soon!

This should still be a nice walk for geomatica at lunch time or a great bike ride for anyone else! Good spot to sit and watch the world go by and you could ponder the question of whether paperbark is more likely to keep a cache dry than broken bits of roof tile?

29-Jan-10
Thanks geomatica, you certainly have a nice view from your window. I thought you might be working back a bit tonight so we could have a coke at the drink machine when I'd found the cache! Don't forget me if a nice job comes up in your office there Smile

It was a VERY long walk from Concord West railway station to this hiding spot(my bike is being picked up today from it's repairs thank goodness). After about half an hour's walk to get here, I figured I might catch the ferry across the river rather than walking back to the train and luckily a ferry that wasn't supposed to stop pulled in and gave me a lift.

Headed off in the wrong direction, I didn't have my glasses and saw a cache on the GPS screen and finally found I was heading for Stick in the Mud.
