Description

A movable cache placed for the GCA "Moving Cache Race" game.

A moving "cacher"

Cache Me If You Can is C&C's first GCA cache and specially created to take part in the GCA "Moving Cache Race" game, however, after the game is concluded, it should be treated like any other GCA movable cache.

The rules of the "Moving Cache Race Game" are published on the Caching Games site, but basically if you find the cache, the idea is to move it to another suitable location of your choosing as soon as possible and provide the new location when logging the find. A picture of where you found the cache would be nice also.

The cache itself is a 200ml sistema, with log book, pen etc. The cache is equipped with a strong magnet in order to provide an alternative fixing method.

We don't have any specific goals or hiding requirements for this movable cache. Please just keep it in Australia, and don't take it anywhere too remote from major populaton centres.

Logs

It appears this cache has gone missing, so we will be archiving it.

The owner can re-enable this cache by checking that it is actually there then posting a 'published' log.

15-Dec-11
Looks like this one is MIA

16-May-11
Checked last week and againtoday and it's no longer there. Does not look good for this cache as nobody has logged it. Crying or Very sad

23-Feb-11
Moved 9.63km
It's at the north end of the big green thing - in behind.

21-Feb-11
209. Looking for one to keep my straight rolling and this one was closest so grabbed the dog and headed out to nab it. I wonder who had a Workout this weekend?

TFTC and the Leo.

Not a very long move - several suburbs and several kms. We've been watching this one for a while, thanks for the find !

14-Feb-11
Nice and close to home so picked it up.

13-Feb-11
Found in Dickson....in a pool of water and everything was soaked. Left on the dashboard for a few hours and it dried out just nicely.

Relocated to an area where water will hopefully not be a problem.

Found on my commute home, but I left it in place. Nice to find a "veteran" cache racer!

Thanks very much

Picked up on the way to work and replaced with a couple of gnomes.

Moved 2.72km
A quick drop on a dinner/gnome run!

15-Jan-11
It came nearby so a quick run out to find this one today... now back to the chores!

15-Jan-11
I didn't get the chance to get this one in last years race, so didn't miss this opportunity today

Out doing a late night FTF dash and passed this on my way back to the car, so now it's done another 'hop'.

30-Oct-10
Well, there you go. Sometimes one is just out caching, when all of a sudden a sequence of events, and voila - another cache to find along the way! Thanks CT, SS & MTBO. TNLN, thanks.

30-Oct-10
133+2096=2229 with Captain Tomato

Well JustinCBR never spotted us when we picked it up or he would have waved or hollered... so Captain Tomato has now left this in a nice spot in the nature reserve..

30-Oct-10
Met a tomato coming down the hill, called a TankEngine at the top of the hill, found with a Tankengine, cryptic?. End result, cache caught, cached and found up a hill, signed and left there for someone else to climb a hill Very HappyVery Happy to retrieve it, seeing as it was in such a nice spot. Thanks for the cache.

30-Oct-10
Moved 3.65km
Had to march this cache up the hill. Someone else can march it back down again.

30-Oct-10
Picked it up just near home.

in the public area of a large apartment complex (on the eastern side of the fence). While GZ is normally fairly quiet, it is overlooked by a number of apartments, so watch out for muggles. I may even be sitting out on my balcony, so don't forget to wave.

25-Oct-10
Took me longer to find than it really should with a 200ml cache, but I'm blaming the fact it was dark at 11pm. Couldn't resist the lure of a nearby moving cache tho.

25-Oct-10
Moved 203.19km
Dropped in a Wing6Rider hide this morning for a convenient pickup.

24-Oct-10
Out for a weekend's caching in Orange with Just a Cacher on a very wet weekend with some very wet dogs in tow. Could not resist stopping to pick this one up. I will move him along tomorrow. SL TFTC

24-Oct-10
Out for a weekend's caching with Black Bunny. We could have chosen better weather - it rained and hailed and poured and there was thunder and lightning, and we got wet and muddy, and had no dry clothes to put on. On top of that, we took the dogs, so we had wet muddy dogs, with that distinctive wet dog smell, in the car all weekend as well. Black Bunny was very keen to get a few caches, as his average was dropping, whatever that means! I think we managed that, as he came home with a smile on his face.

Found this one without too much trouble. Black Bunny will drop it somewhwere wonderful in the ACT tomorrow, I think. Probably when he's meant to be at work.

Placed in area close to a new road that has been developed for logging further on.

Must apologise...took cache to WA with me, however wasn't well Sick and forgot to drop it whilst over there. Embarassed
Now it is on its way again.

25-Jul-10
We thought we'd drop by on the way home from Newcastle and meet this cache again but it was not to be. Never mond, it turned out to be a great spot so we reused it!

25-Jul-10
This was supposed to be a quick nip out before breakfast....
Alas, a long morning trying to get the geokids out of the house, a cold morning and dangerous terrain (for the little ones at least) meant that my search had to be short! At least the general hiding place was obvious!
... And then I re-read the logs and realise that rogpol and jenmen have (probably) been in kahoots again and already moved the cache on!
That's what I get for learning about a cache at 2am, and scheming about it instead of sleeping!
Great idea anyway, hope to see it around town!

24-Jul-10
Thanks to rogpol, and Jenmen who's going to transport it to the West.

24-Jul-10
Caught up with this cache again Very HappyLaughing
Now to find another place for it to hide.

Love the idea of a moveable cache.

Never thought I'd do a GCA until I received an overnight request to collect this "drive-by" enroute to the Bathurst area... oh well it was only another 40 mins to the trip.
Found after skirting the Saturday AM breathalyzer in the car park, waved to the boys in blue and parked just up from the witches hats. I got some interesting looks but they were too busy with the clip boards and their own stats.
A quick find, now moving back west.

Placed in a small Grand Canyon between "the mountain" and "the campus".

What a great concept.

Many thanks to all who have found and moved our cache recently.

Moved 4.79km
As per log below, should be an easy drive-by.

23-Jul-10
Found this in the park at Epping. Muggle mum over the fence with the kiddie might have been watching me but I took a lot of interest in the trees with my "tree assessor" and it was easy just to find the cache and leave. Good to see one left from the Moving Cache Race still going. Mine's dead in SA I think.

Moved it on quickly to a spot where I may place a cache shortly. Should be a quick find near the entrance to the Great North Walk at the park at Mt Wilberforce (West Pennant Hills). Love the coords I got!

21-Jul-10
Moved 3.28km
Dropped in a nice little park in Epping. Sorry if you were watching this and saw it placed in a spot near Macquarie Uni. Got my caches mixed up.

20-Jul-10
The sign said 50km/h. That's obviously too fast to grab a cache. Pull up, get out of the car and 50km/h has a new meaning. Nice hide. Moving on tomorrow.

20-Jul-10
Moved 0.91km
I couldn't belive how many cars drive past this spot when you're trying to be discrete and hide a nice little magnetic cache somewhere.

20-Jul-10
I seem to recognise this cache - oh yes Very Happy I dropped by for a walk in the park on the way home from work and there it was. TFTC again!

20-Jul-10
Moved 8.4km
Went to do a swap with Childhood memories and found that someone had already taken it so left this in it's place anyway.
A busy place with walkers and joggers at 8:00am.

17-Jul-10
What a lovely afternoon to retrieve Cache Me If You Can. There were walkers everywhere at this beautiful setting. I spent some time admiring the scenery before heading home. I'll have to find somewhere nice for a fellow moving cachers container.

16-Jul-10
Moved 103.65km
Moved along a bit, great spot for a walk, great park. Time to check out the table!

15-Jul-10
Time to move this cache along, it has spent enough time resting in this quiet spot, picked it up and will move it along soon.

18-May-10
Found this one without a GPS. All we could remember about it was the rough location. Signed the log but left it in its spot for another cacher who was also after it.

Had a look at some of the old headstones with some very intricate masonry work on the way back to the car after the neighbor called out to us and had a bit of a chat.

18-May-10
Ok we know someone who was trying to get here before us so we found with out a GPS and logged our names in book. The Best part was that as we headed out a bloke over the fence called out did you find it? It seems he found it will taking a walk the other day read the Caching ID card and put it back. We answered a few questions for him and he seemed to like the idea.
JABs.

Moved 54.54km
Moved to pastures new, well not quite as it is near the old Bowenfels cemetery.
The cache is not in the cemetery but you will have to walk thru it to get to the south slope where the cache is.
Don't get stumped!
Please spend some time exploring this historic place.

11-Apr-10
I really did not expect this cache to still be there, but it was so I picked it up, nice little spot Altaire!
Will move this on probably tomorrow.

27-Mar-10
Moved 17.66km
Finally found somewhere we were happy to drop this off. Few other caches around here you can do if you have a mind to. Cache is located at the base of a tree under some rocks.

07-Mar-10
Went for a bike ride this morning and picked this one up from it's nice little hidey hole. Shall drop off somewhere suitable in the next week or so.

05-Mar-10
Thought I might beat the rain, but no such luck, got very wet. To make things worse no luck finding the cache either. I am pretty sure I had the right spot but nothing to be found.
Mind you if "Missing the obvious" was an Olympic event I would be the Champion at it, so likely I missed it altogether.

Place in our lovely home town of Hazelbrook.

Still not sure why this footpath goes round these trees!?!

15-Feb-10
Found our first Moveable Cache, after deciding to grow our caching experiences on GCA.

Will move this week.

Thanks hanjac, blossom and Jenmen - Love Katoomba, great place.

Co-ordinates maybe a little out because of the trees, however all will be very clear when you reach GZ
Whilst there have a look at the historical feature a horse watering trough when this was the main road.

Put in my own personal cache that I know a local cacher will be happy to get it from. Want to keep it moving.

03-Jan-10
An early morning trip to Mt Vesuvius but no Moving Cache. I'm not sure where it's gone. There seemed to be a few newcommers logging the GC cache here so perhaps one of them took it and hasn't yet worked out what to do? Or maybe someone has it along the highway and just hasn't logged yet.

01-Jan-10
sorry for the delay in logging. Cache in my hot hand in sunny Bathurst. Will place quickly.

29-Dec-09
Thanks to blossom and NorthOfTheSouth. Cheers C&C.

26-Dec-09
Picked up from Grand National, will rehide ASAP....

25-Dec-09
Moved 8.27km
Since it was so easy to find right next to another cache, I figured right IN another cache would be even better! Grand National can be found at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gc1vfgg
And surprisingly this turned out to be a good spot to use the magnets!

25-Dec-09
Not too hard to find, it was right next to another cache I was looking for!

24-Dec-09
Co-ords may be a little bit off???!!! It's showing as the middle of a 6 lane highway! I'm not going to search there! Oh, ok, I guess if I read the clue I might be able to find these and move them somewhere. Unless someone else beats me to it

24-Dec-09
Moved 729.22km
Arrived in Sydney and dropped this cache along with Post Haste in the same location (see hint). That should put some k's on these caches clocks. Co-ords may be a little off, but the hint is a giveaway.

21-Dec-09
Thanks to everyone who has moved or searched for this recently.
pocketrocket&friends, solomanfamily, PrincessDiala, The Empire, SamCarter, wallyhunt, caughtatwork, GabGab and Uncle Jiffy

Found it, right where GabGab said it would be.
I will be in Sydney on Wednesday so I hope to hide this very soon after I get there.

Moved 3.2km
Moved closer to where it will be picked up by Uncle Jiffy very very soon.

21-Dec-09
I found this cache after daddy hid it. We will be hiding it again soon for Uncle Jiffy to find and take to NSW.

A quick move close to the caughtatwork household but don't go looking for it, it's on the move again.
Added an original GCA pathtag and a new GCA Enigmatic Echidna pathtag for the next lucky finder.

21-Dec-09
Aha! So we meet again. Bwahahahaha!
This cache will be moving fast tonight then if the gods are aligned, off to another state later in the week.
A small hiatus may occur during transfer.
We apologise for the inconvenience Smile

Moved this one on. Hidden in an Armco barrier on the West bound Freeway entrance.

20-Dec-09
Being beaten to it was always a possibility. (And, knowing my luck, a high probability! And, having missed it, it's now a certainty).

20-Dec-09
Retrieved from Yarraville this afternoon. Will be separated from its travelling partner, so that we can get some different Kms on them to make the race more interesting.

Dropped this one with another.
Didn't check co-ordinates with google earth, bf left the wireless ariel in his top drawer at work.
Ready to go and grab!

(Oops, forgot to take a pic of the structure I grabbed it from, sorry.)

PR&F has placed 'Cache Me If You Can.'
It's not on exactly the same structure I got it from, but it's a nice location.
There was also a FTF opportunity for me here so check out Possum crossing by 80degrees at the same time.

Found by PR&F on 5/12/09 @ 6pm.
With The Empire collecting a movable cache earlier in the day, pocketrocket wanted one too!
Was lucky enough to pick this up and I will place in the north tomorrow.
TFTC, great location!

05-Dec-09
Looks like I wasn't fast enough to catch it this evening..

05-Dec-09
Moved 9.26km
... and on the move again. I've placed it in a location which will be very familiar to some, and an opportunity for a few smileys if you've never been here before. It's VERY close to c@w's GCA cache, and also right near a short offset GC hide. Convenient for the inner-west teams, and only a short distance across the WG Bridge for those over the other side. Go and get it!

05-Dec-09
OK - back in my hands (still feels warm after the day's activity!)... let's see where we can place it on Saturday!

04-Dec-09
Wow - What a day it's had. Leaping all over the place.

Many thanks to dcr, solomonfamily, pwags and caughtatwork

Fantastic - thanks

04-Dec-09
I'll give it a few hours, just in case someone else wants to grab it. After midnight it's mine!

04-Dec-09
Moved 9.92km
Hmmm, I think I've been here before and now that we're in pwags territory, it might not stay very long.

04-Dec-09
Talk about a fast moving cache. Cache Me If You Can indeed. Well, it's off again after a quick pickup (thanks to the clue), slightly more west to a location that in recent days has seen a plethora of caches hidden n, under, up and around it.
New co-ords to follow soon.

04-Dec-09
Moved 0.44km
After winning a local tennis game I sat down in a local park on the way to lunch....

No need to walk in any garden bed for this one....

04-Dec-09
Love your work there guys - "and the crowd cheers"!

lol

04-Dec-09
