Description

Aphrodite the Weeping Angel

Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Prett much the exact opposite of what you are going to find when you hunt down this Weeping Angel.

Aprodite is my entrant in the Moving Cache Race for 2013/204. http://www.cachinggames.com/weepingangels/

Please log your find at Geocaching Australia as soon as possible so others are hunting for a cache that is no longer there and please move Aphrodite along as soon as you can.

Aprodite is not a standard micro cache, only the container is a micro. Aphrodite should be easy to find as she's about 10 inches tall and rather gruesome. But remember ... don't blink!

Found this old familiar movable in a dirty, dried out mud sort of place. I think it may have improved his looks a trifle.
The log container is missing, but we don't have a suitable sized one at hand to replace it, sadly.

thanks, Caughtatwork!

Travelling along Nanima Road today on my way to an Event, I decided to tackle some of the caches in the local area. Found this beauty but like others before me, left it there. I may even go back and pick it up when I am in less of a hurry and have found a good hidey hole for her next abode.
Thanks for the cache Caughtatwork.

Periodically the Geocaching Australia review team checks moveable caches that haven’t been found or moved in over 90 days.

This moveable fits that brief, however reading previous logs it seems to still be at the posted co-ords and is just sitting there waiting for the next finder to give it a go.

So, if you’re in area why not stop by and help it on its way...... Very Happy

Found out with Kittykatch and Darzee Di. My first moveable. Bison part was missing. So checked it out and put it back.

Bison tube doesn't have lid and log book missing.

02-Jan-18
Found with KittyKatch and Joolay whilst out grabbing the awesome Chocolate Factory series and puzzles. It wasn't long until KittyKatch had the container in hand, however the bison tube had no log book or lid and we didn't have a replacement so no way of signing. We decided to leave it there for another to find and move on. tftc Caughtatwork Smile

We discovered this cache in place today - first moveable I have found out in the wild in ages! The bottom of the bison tube is missing, so there is no log book, and not really anyway to put in a replacement. So we looked at it's not so pretty face and put it back. Cool to pick up a moveable - TFTC

When i found Aphrodite i was told it was not coming home with us so i left it in the middle of the night to keep watch over a nearby new cache. The grass was longer than i expected when i put it down so you may need to move the grass a bit to find him.

Well, that's not what i was looking for, but Aphrodite and all his friends can come for a drive. Smile

Carried it around for a couple of kilometres looking for a suitable hiding spot. Finally found something suitable on the return journey. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyDon't Blink

Nice to see an Angel still weeping around the place...

I find that the moveables are a great addition to geocaching. The fun of chasing them around - sometimes finding them in place - sometimes not - puts a bit more interest on the Geocaching Australia side of things. These games also tend to boost the numbers of moveables around - especially in December and January - perfect time to spend a bit more time caching away in Summer and / or holidays. My favourites tend to be the Gnomes - memories of a misspent childhood come to mind.... Lol.

Easy find with Black Bunny. On the way home from an Adelaide trip, so Aphrodite should be out and about in Canberra in a few days. And she isn't ugly.

Attending the Central Vic Get-Together event in Castlemaine we spotted two GCA moveable caches waiting for someone to collect them and move them on. We grabbed them as there were very few cachers at the event who are interested in GCA. They're heading to northern Victoria.

Thank you for this GCA moveable cache. It's our 271st GCA cache find.

OMG - I'm so sorry! EmbarassedCrying or Very sad I'm in the middle of moving house at the moment so haven't been keeping up with the race or any other caching at present. It appears I made a two digit transposition in the posted coordinates. Checking my data the corrected coordinates are as posted with this new move. Apologies to the CO Caughtatwork and EuDes for my stuff up and tardiness to spot and fix the problem...

20-Dec-13
Google Maps shows the current coordinates as being in the front yard of 1085 Riversdale Road. Surprised Is this correct? While it may well be, my feeling is that there is an error in the South coordinates.

Can it be confirmed please as there is no indication in the placement log or the hint that one has to go onto private property to retrieve this Don't Blink.
